*One BIG Tip!* From someone much smarter than I.... John Holmes, Owner/Engineer of Holmes Hobbies, recently told everyone something that I've known for YEARS! *Higher Turn Motors do NOT have more Torque!!!* 😱 All they have is lower top speed. Some of us have been around for a while... Remember back in the Day, when we raced with 15, 13, 10 Turn Motors, or even hotter?? Transmissions would shatter! Gears would strip smooth. Dogbones would Twist! When was the last time you saw a 45-65 Turn Motor do ANYTHING like that??? They won't, because they only have 1/3rd to 1/5th the Torque of 15-25 Turn Motors.... John IS an Electrical Engineer, and very respected in the Community. Apparently, some guy or guys, about 20 years ago, in Comp Rock Crawling, decided that Higher Turn Motors had more Torque. Nobody questioned it, and the fallacy stuck! 😥 Here's the Video, in John's own words, a complete guideline for choosing Motors - Brushed or Brushless. Near the end of the Video, he talks about the "story" of going to something like a 55-65 Turn Motor, and feeling the illusion that it has more Torque... It has been, only a story... ruclips.net/video/BcuhdkCucGA/видео.html
Those motors do produce more torque but at much higher rpm. He said if it's machine wound in a crawler about 35t is optimum for torque on 3s and if hand wound then 27t. I've crawled with a 15t motor and very low gearing and although it can crawl fine it lacked enough torque at lower rpm tp get smooth enough stars. Lowish gearing and a 21t motor is a lot of fun trailing though
good comparison but thats crazy slow for a trial truck you need higher wheel speed to get over many obsticles or in dirt! 45t is about a slow as i would ever go 😊
John Wizard that’s actually a common misconception. Torque is determined by armature size ie 540 can motor vs 550 can and and wind style ie 3 slot vs 5 slot or machine wound vs hand wound.
good afternoon ...I live in Brazil...I have a 27t engine and another 80t, the 80t I use on the truck with a reduction box of 1: 5 ... I want to put a reduction box on the 27t engine so that they stay at the same speed as the reduced 80t , understand ?? ... which gearbox should I use?
i run a 25.5 brushless systetm on 2s in SCX10ii .... it's a out as fast as the 80t but will rip the pins out of steel drive shafts ... and runs all day on a 5000mah lipo
Could I ask a non-crawler question to anyone willing to answer? I’m slow-building up a Tamiya WR02 for my daughter to get her into it, personalised decals etc… I don’t want this thing to go too quickly as this will be her first rc car, would a high turn motor like the one used in this video be enough to slow the rc down considerably as I don’t think there’s many gearing options out there, WR02 is not designed to be a crawler.
higher the turn, greater the torque, lower the rpm. think of it almost like displacement. a big v8 makes big torque and only spins at 6k (55t+) a 4cyl will spin alot faster but wont make as much torque (21t or lower) id go with at least a 45t for a crawling application. still moves at a decent rate but isnt painfully slow.
The higher a T rating is on a motor, or, the number of turns, the lower the RPM is of the motor. This also has the effect of providing much higher torque, as evidenced by the grate climbing clip.

Thank you for making this video! I was torn between 55t and 80t and this video will help me make a decision. Much appreciated!
What did u go with?? 55t or 80t?
Buen video, para trial lento el tacto del acelerador bueno, mejor el de 80t.

deffinately appreciated, i am thinking about getting an injora 540 45t motor for my gen7 pro (black)
however for a dedicated crawler/trail runner the 80t is perfect
That 80T has very high torque, capable to move 10x10 truck or heavy rig

Is that the top speed off the 80T brushed motor
Excellent just what I needed to know :)
Good comparison, thanks! What do you prefer for slow speed crawling?
I really like the 80t, more silent and cold.
Is this 20t pinion on both motors?
yes! of course!
I done a video recently of my honcho with similar top speed. 3s lipo, 65t motor but 13t pinion.
Wait so which is better? I'm going to upgrade mine to 100 t what exactly is the difference between the two?
Tq sharing.. Simple to understand👍👍👍
Debating getting an 80t motor for my Trx4, just think it would make crawling more entertaining
I've put a 9t pinion in mines and i'm going to under drive both the axles to slow it right down. I think i'm try an 80t in it on 2s for fun
Awesome.. Appreciating your effort buddy☺
I have a 1/14 king hauler and I need a 80t at least thanks for video was looking for a video with comparison between 2 motors
The shadows at 2:00 makes it look like that minecraft game 🤣
when it comes to obstacles that a little bit high can do 80t motor pass through it?
Great vid mate
80T has more strength in obstacles than 27T?

How is the drag brake on the 89turn
Can the 80t pull or hold 26 pounds
What does 27T and 80T stand for?
The copper turn in the armetur of motor
hola una pregunta, el 80T tiene mas torque supongo? gracias
si, es el motor con más fuerza que se puede conseguir.
What?

you can pull a house with that 80t motor XD
No, you really can't.... It's just slower.
XD
How many teeth on pinion and spur gear?
both stock
What is the ESC ?
Original
hi, where i can find this motor?
Aliexpress

@@TheRyanDelage overall all motors on the same size produce the same torque, as long as you can supply the amount current it needs...
2s or 3s?
2s
@@pablofr99 Oh my goodness, that Honcho is fast on 2s! About as fast as my SCX10II Cherokee 35T on 3s :O
80T is for grandpa!!! LOL
i tink you swapped the 27t and 80t names on video other wise the 80 t is slow and i dont think it is. good video though

Tallen Horn no the lower the T the faster it is
I hope it's not a 80 tooth dog :-D
