That face when you pulled the trigger bro……priceless. You look like you just drank a glass of sweet tea that dad grabbed the salt instead of the sugar.
Dude. I was laughing even before u pulled the trigger. And then that face. ..😅😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉 80turn. LmfBO. I wont lie. Ive been there and done that in my 6 yrs of crawler tinkerings...
I have an RC4WD budget motor that is still sitting on my shelf after two years. I am just not impressed by their motors. But it's a good video. Everyone have a great day and a great crawl.
Another Holmes Hobbies fan here. I had portals in an scx10ii and ran a 27t sport. I still wouldn't call it quick, but it had some punch to it for sure. If I had it to do over, I would run a 15 or 12 turn and gear it down.
Gotcha 👍 appreciate the comment and it seems golden may be the way to go.i appreciate the input and experience, imma play with some more motors then maybe look for a keeper 😉
I ran the 20T RC4WD motor with a 16t pinion, HW 1080 and 3s lipo. The little thing had some get up and go and was fun to bash around. I am not into 'Competition Crawling' but I am in to Crawler Bashing and having an all around good time. This was a perfect set up for me, I didn't need to go brushless. For that price I could have put down on another RC. = ( The number of stators can also affect the speed of a motor. For example the 20T RC4WD motor was a whole lot faster than a 20T Crawlmaster motor. See you on the trails... = )
Man thank you for the comment, I would love a 3s lipo setup but I have 4 2s that are perfect lol. That may be a needed upgrade though. I just got some 12ts for Christmas and am stoked!! Thanks again and hope to see you on the new crawler episode 😀
If I could recommend any motor, the sealed can Holmes motors are good but my favorite budget 540 is the Reedy 16t 5 slot. I have it in my budget comp rig and its perfect. Just enjoy torque that you can feel out the obstacles but not too little torque to the point where it bogs out on every little thing.
Wow 80 Turn. That's a creeper. I bought a used SCX10.2 with a 35 Turn. I didn't even try it. Out came the 35T & put in a 16T 5 Slot for $20. LOVED it. For more wheel speed I went to a 11T 5 slot. Thinking about going back to 16T. 11T is a little too touchy for slow speed.
@@arkansasrcnewbie Standard motors have 3 rotating poles/slots. The more slots a motor has, the smoother the motor spins at low speed. The speed of a 16 turn 5 slot motor is equal to a 27 turn 3 slot, SO if you want wheel speed, use a small 3S lipo.
lol the dissapointment! I suggest picking up some MIP tools bro and you will never strip another screw out again. As for motors look into the Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster Sport motors under $20 I run 13t for my crawler brushed setups its 5 slot so actls more like a 27t and up. Keep up the videos bro!
Thank you for the positivity man, I'm learning 🙏 Imma look into some tools overtime once I get established and as for the motors it seems Holmes is the brand 😎
MIP are good. I have a set I bought years ago. I only broke one. I've had good luck with HUDY tools. They're made in Europe. They're more expensive than MIP but, they make the best RC tools on the market.
Brother, do yourself a huge favor! Get a HobbyWing Fusion 1800kv! Best crawl control ever, plenty of punch.... you will thank me. It will out perform any HolmsHobbie or anything else....all day.
Man I remember you saying that, now I don't doubt it but I do wanna stick with brushed for right now. Just more content for the growing channel, but qord has it I've got another crawler for Christmas! So maybe I can throw the fusion in the RGT for good 👍
Really should shoot for a 550 5 slot motor between 10 to 17 turn. Any brand is great as long as it’s a 5 slot motor Holmes, reedy all good motors. I guess if a 550 can fits in the RGT. Good luck!
That's a great idea 👍 Might try that out on the next one! Got the 45t installed now looking at filming the crawling portion of the episode. Thanks man 👍
@Arkansas RC Newbie Right on looking forward to seeing it man. Might be interesting to see a 550 up against a comparable 540,just to see what the difference between them is.
Basic rule for more torque... And more power. 1 gear down/ volt up (kv up=less turn) so smaller pinion, larger spur, 2. 12v or 14v. If your not on lipo batteries get on that train. And learn how to charge/ store them properly and they last years and years. 3. 12 turn Holmes hobbies trail master will kick butt with all the gear down. Even with 3800kv of brushless, with all the extra gear down of the portals, that thing isn't going to get away from you
Man, thank you for the comment! Running lipos, just 2s but they get the job done lol. Also have got a new setup you are gonna wanna see!! Thanks brother
That face when you pulled the trigger bro……priceless. You look like you just drank a glass of sweet tea that dad grabbed the salt instead of the sugar.
😂😂 disappointed!! Got the 45T installed now, hope it goes better. Thanks Hick
trials and tribulations of being a newbie from Arkansas into RCing. we need patreon footage of Wolfman talking smack
For sure, he is a sh#$ talker.

Get a Holmes Hobbies crawl master sport 550 13T . You won't be let down. Prices are between 15 and 25.

Awesome video buddy! Can’t wait to see the other motor installed..
Thanks brother, I'm trying to figure out the right combo lol.
@@arkansasrcnewbie I know what u mean. I ended up with mamba c esc and castles 2280kv in the phoenix. Seems to be about perfect set up imo.

you are worrying about things that don't matter. keep it simple....
Which part?🤣
@@arkansasrcnewbie Don't worry so much about the pinion gear in a brushed crawler, add weight down low better traction and stability
