55 Chevy - All New Suspension

  • Part 2 of the suspension for my 55 Chevy Gasser. I had the control arms sandblasted then re-painted. Once they were dry I installed all new bushings and ball joints. Compressing the big block springs was little nerve racking but it all worked out in the end. Should be good for years to come.

Enjoyable watch! Glad you didn’t kill yourself putting those big springs in! That method was ingenious of you.

All day today, every time I open a video it opens as a small banner so I double click to make it open and I get DD Speed Shop videos.

I just liked/subscribed and wanted to say the car is looking great. I hope to start on my 55 Bel-Air 2dr sedan soon. It's an early 70s build but has been abused and further modified over the years. It has a 69 Nova 396 SS front clip and rear end with a 454 and 400TH trans. I'm going to build it as a period 70s era street rod but I'm sure everyone will call it a gasser. LOL!

I have been watching all of your build videos. I would like to say you have done a great job and made a lot of progress. I think you have made this car what will be a treasure to own and drive. The hard work will definitely pay off .
I herd you mention a big block in the future , you may want to move the engine mounts forward and the brake booster may need to be swapped for one with a smaller diameter, I had to run a 8 inch diameter booster to clear the valve covers on a big block .
Great work ,I enjoy your videos .

Thanks for the tip! Once I cram the motor in I'm sure I'll have a few issues. But that's the fun part right?

Where are the ball joint spacers ?
You need them to raise the front end ( if it's a gasser )
You don't need disc brakes. You're supposed to be scared in a gasser !

I actually haven't attached my front end to the car yet. I'm sure I'll make some sort of bracket that is removable so I can take the clip off easily.
