I like Carlito's long delay when Dave starts bashing Tony's head. He just kind of pauses, thinking "That doesn't sound like an old man being pulled from the water. It sounds like a guy getting beaten to death. In fact, that's exactly what it sounds like. Waitaminuuuuuute....."
@@marcroger8367 EXACTLY! He was chasing sucky gangster movies that he was never right for... Viggo Mortensen and Sean Penn made this movie feel genuine... Also in a small part John Liguizamo.
God bless those of you who played GTA Vice City before watching this movie as there is zero chance that you'll be able to unsee a live-action Ken Rosenberg. 😂
How did sean penn think he was going to get away with it? The mafia would have known he went to pick up the boss with his son and once both went missing he was responsible for it.
He was living day-to-day. 100% they were going to torture and kill him for stealing (which in the mob you die for holding out, let alone stealing)... He didn't think about the twin brother.
Carlito didn't make it into GTA, the Lawyer did. Penn was the stand-out in this movie... Also Viggo Mortensen as Lali... Pacino was in his suck-years doing shit he didn't look right for, likke dogday afternoon and this.
@@TrillShatnerDid you just compare the arbitrary inclusion of the GENERIC “Coked out, wanna be criminal, criminal defense attorney character” in a video game to Pacino murdering this role as a form of comparison in acting abilities??? @bassman8144 made this comment. I'm here with him. That means I'm going along for the ride. The whole ride. All the way to the end of the line, wherever that is.
@wjatube I don't too many people are fans of Sean Penn the person. He's a total douchebag. But you're right we can't deny the man definitely has some acting ability. I remember back when this came out which was like 30+ years ago. I was a youngster and was a big fan of Sean Penn movies back then. Well I went to see this in the theater I believe and I hadn't seen that Sean Penn was in this. ( I must have missed the opening credits). And it took me a decent portion of the movie to realize that it was Sean Penn!! And like I said back then I had been a big fan of his movies so I couldn't believe I didn't recognize him.
Sean Penn he is played in my favorite Brian De Palma Film in Carlito's Way I saw this part cause when Dave he also killed mob boss named Tony T with a crowbar he crack his head wide open before he killed Tony's son name Frankie cause Carlito and Dave trying to bust Tony T outta that prison was located at River Prison Barge
I too watch mobster films for the quality of their simulated weather. The godfather was another film that was totally ruined, the rain droplets outside of the restaurant at Michael's hit were way too big. I couldn't get past it at all
This is a Brian DePalma movie. And BD never wants you to forget you're watching a film. He loves the artifice of film. He loves the staginess of film. He's not trying to make something look realistic. He takes big swings operetta characters and very stylized staged scenes. It's why you watch Brian de Palma movies. And why he is the greatest

How come he or we didn't hear the son being killed? There is a subtle hint when he's coming over because he's keeping one of his hands hidden.
This movie taught me to learn to say: "No" to friends 😂
The life of Ken Rosenberg, once a lowlife lawyer in a city called vice
Basically grand theft auto vice city takes place 😂
You sound like Sam Hyde right now... Like.. you need to be stopped.. but are unstoppable.
He's Jewish so no surprise there....

Man, this movie was pure grit. Nothing glamorous about grit.
Pacino should have been nominated for an Oscar for this role. Really good performance
Are you redic
Best 2nd rate performance of his career.

True. The thumbnail made me think they took another crack at an HD remake.

Cocaine's a helluva drug.
(Seriously! if you ever want to see the egotistical narcissist in any man; give 'em an 8 ball, sit back and watch the show)
Remember kleinfeld was coked outta his mind.
People forget how good Sean Penn really is. He almost stole this movie from Pacino. One of the more underrated crime movies too
He did steal it from Pacino. Al Pacino's range only goes so far. Sean Penn morphed into a whole other being.

David kills the son, while Carlito is trying to reach the father.
Hey, Kleinfeld is my brother!
Why hate Sean Penn?
@@rickyhits6547cause he has main character syndrome and thinks ebcause they have different political beliefs, that they have to be real life enemies.

Such an amazing film!
Great show... but trashing the boat and tossing in a paddle lmao, someone was gonna think it was a fishing accident haha.
I allow myself five slots for favorite movie. This is one of them. Davey cleinfeld aint a lawyer no mo

It's okay to separate the actor from their character. If it weren't, we couldn't enjoy movies or sports.😊
No he didn't. But he is an amazing actor
From here to Heat he’s always the same.
@Wanderlust073 The Devil's Advocate was a perfect role for his over-acting style.
It was a stupid move but I have a feeling many, many mob lawyers who've dealt with abuse by these guys really enjoyed this scene
Why didn't Nathan just fly and rescue his dad?
I knew there'd be a Heroes reference.
