  • Finally broke in to the 1:55's with the 2019 Corvette ZR1. Traffic cost me about three tenths and there's definitely more time to be had. Only modification are AP Racing brakes and Pirelli scrubs on 18" wheels.

    Nice driving. Just wondering, how do you like the Michelin Cup 2 tires? How many track days do you get out of them before they need to be replaced?

      The MPSC2 had good grip initially but fell off quickly during the session. I only ran the set that came on the car and now I run used Pirelli slicks which have as much or more grip and stay consistent during the session. Looking back at my logs it looks like I got 3.7 hours on track out of the MPSC2 which is slightly better than I'm getting out of the Pirellis.

    I am curious if the C7 ZR1 with the "low wing"/" low drag" configuration would have faster lap times than the what you posted. VIR Full Course seems to be suited to a low drag setup.... I.e. majority full throttle drag race on ~80% of lap? VIR Grand Course is definitely a different discussion....comments?

    • @HiPoDriver
      @HiPoDriver  3 года назад +1

      At least with the Z06 I was always faster with the higher DF setups and on those cars there was a bigger drag penalty with the stage 3. I don't think the low wing would gain much time on the back straight but the extra DF definitely helps in the esses. I was also running with the wing in the low angle. Check out Jim Mero's ZR1 lap in the A8. The A8 was significantly faster on the big straights and Jim was also a significantly better driver. He also had the high wing on that car.

      @@HiPoDriver A video comparison of the pdr data between the C7 GS.R and the ZR1 would be interesting...both have comparable lap times at both VIR ( 1:55) and Summit Point (1:15) yet the GS.R has a lower lbs/hp?

      Assuming you're part of an event it's around $200-$250/day. You can find a list of clubs that run there on their web site. This particular event was with Hooked On Driving NE chapter. virnow.com/track/getting-on-track/

    Any reason why you didn’t stick to the OEM CC brakes?

    • @HiPoDriver
      @HiPoDriver  5 лет назад +2

      Sorry I didn't respond when you asked this previously. The main reason I switched was for the much lower consumable costs. The AP Racing setup also allows for a wider range of pad compounds to provide the brake feel you want. The CCBs worked fine but in 2 days I had burned through over half the pads. They also have more torque than the Ferodo DS 1.11 I run with the AP Racing kit and that makes the CCBs harder for me to modulate. I ran this same setup on both of my C7 Z06s as well and have been moving it from car to car when I trade.

    • @mariojrverdeja9486
      @mariojrverdeja9486 5 лет назад +2

      I ran my C7 ZO6/Z07 and the pad replacement was expensive. I traded it in before having to replace actual discs. I figured you switched due to the expense. I have seen the guys in the GT 3 do the same. I guess I am going to look into replacing my CCB s. You have all four AP and it didn’t effect the car? One of the GM mechanics told me you could switch over once you have CCB but it sounded odd

    • @mariojrverdeja9486
      @mariojrverdeja9486 5 лет назад +2

      Couldn’t I meant to say. That you are stuck with CCB

    • @HiPoDriver
      @HiPoDriver  5 лет назад +2

      Yeah, while the initial cost outlay for the AP Racing kit is high but they eventually pay for themselves and like I said, I've moved the same kit to three cars now. If you do this a lot it's worth taking the plunge.
