Back in the Summer of 2019 I was fit into the original TS1 driver (it had just come out that week). 67 years old then with a driver speed of between 85 - 90 mph. It immediately changed my driving game. For slower swinging folk, it should definitely be on the fitting list.
I'm a low launch; low spin 90ish mph driver speed guy.....getting tsi1 after watching Nelly Korda use with massive amounts of success but I'll use with a slightly heavier shaft ( GD DI-TP 5R)
I am a 73 year old golfer with a 2 handicap. I played the Titleist TS3 for sometime but have lost some clubhead speed in the last few years so decided to just try the Titleist TS1 last fall. I only picked up a couple mph of clubhead speed but picked up about 4 mph ball speed and thus carried the TS1 about 7-9 yds farther. I just hit the TSi1 the other day and it was about 10 yds farther than my TS1 with the same shaft. So definitely encourage older golfers to try the TSi1! Only one caveat, make sure whatever shaft you use (if not going to use the stock shaft) that you get it fitted and built so that swingweight stays in a good range. The lighter head of the TS1 (which weighs around 285 grams) with a heavier shaft will probably not work well!
I purchased my clubs (all titleist) in 2014 new. I paid $300 for a titleist 913d driver and paid $1100 for custom set of 714 ap2 irons 3-GW. The reason I haven't purchase newer golf equipment is manufacturers have priced their equipment above what most people including myself can afford. $500 - $700 USD for a new driver is a bit much and irons are going at around $1300 - $1500 for a 4-PW set. Even used golf equipment is priced to high. Not only has golf equipment gone sky high so has green fees. Seems golf is going back to the era where only the rich can afford.
I have the TS1, it's been glorious for me. Most drives are high straight and long. I now have the 3 and 7 TSi1 fairways and the hybrid. All very easy to hit.
I was playing Titleist 913 D2. Got fit for the TSi 1. I'm getting about 10 yards more on average and hitting substantially more fairways. I'm 74 years old and this is a great club for guys like me. It will keep me playing longer. When I was getting fit I hit a lot of drivers and the TSi 1 had the tightest dispersion of any.
Great review and Titleist cater for serious golfers that is people who love golf and play on a regular basis. There are 26 million golfers and Titleist target the serious category which covers 7 million . I’ve tried everything this year and going for T300 irons and TSI 1 woods, all very forgiving and long with excellent dispersion. I’m a 22 handicapper in my early seventies so Titleist do cater for everybody just give them a go.
I spent my golfing years discrediting the phase "Oh it's a Titleist, you need to be able to hit it" by being able to hit it. Owned every driver, apart from the last two, and nearly every 710, 712 and 714 iron. For me Titleist are one of the top golfing manufacturers, and always have been. They are like Apple, not very flashy, but it just works and costs an arm and leg. TM and Callaway are like Samsung, all in your face with marketing, but their stuff is the same as everyone elses.
I've got the TS1. If you adjust the loft down to 9* it should reduce the effect of that draw, as the face opens slightly. Would have liked to have seen you do that.
Hi mark I swapped from a R15 TaylorMade 67g shaft to a TS 1 40 g shaft I picked up 20 + yards in the winter and don’t miss on the right side of the fairway very often any more ,as I can now square the club face and find the middle with a lot more consistency great content Thanks Shaun 🏌🏻♂️
Love the way you approach these reviews and thoughts. No one does it like you do Mark. There are plenty of other YTers that really miss the point of testing/reviews and just go through the motions because there is a new club in the stores today. I have to tell you, I'm watching your competitors less and less and you are catching up to them a bit at a time... just like your ball speeds these days.
I currently game the TS1. It has been the most accurate, and forgiving driver I have ever hit. I have had several back surgeries over the last 25 years and this lighter driver is easier to swing, and I feel it is less stressful on my back. I use to game the G400 and I found I really had to swing that driver very fast to square the face at impact. The head weight was to much for me. I plan on getting a fitting this spring with a Titelist rep to compare my current TS1 to the TSi 1? I would even consider trying the TSi 2? My swing speed on a warm summer day can get close to 90 mph. I’m 59 years old and have a handicap of 12. My best drive on a relatively flat fairway can carry 225 and rollout to 250 yards. I personally think a lot more older golfers should try Titelist TS 1 especially if you have lost some of your distance getting older. Mark, I would love to see a head to head with the TS1 and TSi 1. Is there any real differences to make one want to upgrade to the newer model? Great video! Keep them coming!👍🏌️♂️
I was fitted at PGA Super Store in Myrtle Beach for a TSi1. Ended up with the 40 gram shaft and the impact felt very pure. My swing speed averaged about 80 MPH. I was getting clean strikes and averaging about 225 yards straight down the fairway.
I think what you were trying to say, or get across is the ts1, while can be swung faster, for higher swingspeeds you wont see gains because of the high spin it produces. But at lower speeds, generally people dont spin enough so it can help them achieve better carry and distance, where as with low speed ls, the tsi4 wouldnt provide emough stable spin
I swing at 70+ mph and play TS 1 from 2020. Made the game much more fun for me. Maybe not longer drives compared to my old Callaway, but much more accurate.
I tried a lighter 45gram shaft, felt great......but when I got into it, it sliced badly (or I did). Put a 65gram stiff in the same head and got much better dispersion across the board. Kinda exactly what this video shows I think!
I swing at 90mph but I used to swing at around 107mph before I put my back out. I have managed to increase my swing speed post injury, over the past couple of years, from about 70mph and have tried lots of different clubs to see if they helped. The lighter Cleveland drivers I had in the corner of the garage certainly helped me get the ball further but I am back using my Ping and 60g shaft because it is so stable and if I miss the fairway I know it is all down to me. I managed an 82 at the weekend so just 3 more strokes and I will be back in the 70's. I've waited a long time for that.
"I SWING AT 90 MPH"...Mark do I need to look at higher MOI drivers with lower lofts or lower spin drivers with higher loft. I all ready spin the ball too much...Can I borrow your Mizuno ST200G, I know your not using it.....
I had a 40g shaft in first Callaway Epic. I couldn't keep it in the fairway. The head and shaft was too light thus I couldn't fell where the head was in my downswing. Currently play Tensi 65g shaft and love it. I've had friends play the light shafts and always seem to come back to 60g shafts for control. Hard to score in the rough.
I went back in today cause my tsi3 came with playability guarantee so ended up with tsi2, 3 was just giving trouble 2 ended up under 2000 spin more consistent, the tsi 1 went little more left and spinning more same gamer shaft , so 2 in bag now
Tried a 50g shaft and struggled to keep the ball from spinning to high especially into the wind. I tried it for 2 rounds. Also lost it both ways. I have a 100mph swing speed and prefer 60g . That was with ts2. Interesting test Mark.
Less than 90 mph senior here. Replaced my Titleist 917D2 with TS1 and gained 10+ yards with better dispersion. Looking forward to testing the TSi1 fairway and hybrids to replace my aging 913’s. Mark - will you be testing these as well?
I swing at 90 mph. During my fit last summer we tested lighter shafts and I couldn’t find the middle of the face. Went back up just under 60 grams and strike improved along with ball speed
Another excellent video, Mark. I find I can’t hit light or regular shafts in the driver. The shots either pull or balloon. Even though I’m not a speed merchant these days, about 105mph flat out, I use a stiff, low torque, mid launch, 65g shaft in the driver. It doesn’t necessarily gain distance but it gives a lot more control over height and dispersion. I prefer firm but regular and light shafts in my irons as I’m normally not trying to hit them as far as possible and the crossover is on the 3 wood, where I seem to be able to play either, as long as it isn’t a high launch shaft.
I still love light but not ultralight. Got a 50gr Riptide stiff shaft -- light weight with stiffer tip section for about 92 to 96mph driver swing speed currently is really nice and works well, tighter dispersion than with reg flex for me. And even if the swing speed increases (which I will start working on even though after some failed surgeries my left leg won't work really well any longer) I am positive the light&stiff combo is a good choice for me.
I play a Callaway Epic Star 12 degree 39 gram senior shaft . My club head speed is 80mph. Straight and longer than other drivers I tested, max out at 210 yards.
"I swing at 104 mph" I have tried shafts from 50g - 80g but never side by side on a launch monitor. I tend to choose based on which gives me my preferred feel and trajectory. Currently playing 65g.
Hi Mark, interesting 🤔 what's the TSi1 like with a 60gram shaft? And how's about the Wilson D9? Just bought one in 9 degree stiff shaft and is impressive and at least £100 cheaper than the other big boys!
I swing at 106 mph. Will be testing a Ping G425 and the Callaway Epic Max/speed range when lockdown is lifted and I will definitely be asking about the lighter shaft options after watching this and one of your previous vids talking about possible gains using a lighter shaft. 👍🏾
VERY interesting comment concerning how Titleist is perceived as a "brand." It reminds me of a story I read in a golf magazine about the last days of the Ben Hogan Company before it was purchased by Callaway (and is now independent again). In an attempt to broaden its appeal, Hogan released a VERY forgiving version of its Apex iron. While on the display rack inside a golf course pro shop, an obvious "brand snob" looked at the irons and remarked, "Hogan is now making clubs for HACKERS?"
Hey Mark, unrelated question. Why do reviewers and golfers worry about iron dispersion when you only use that iron one time per hole. I think the feel should be more important. Don't you think?
I swing at 115 and I want to get fit for a driver this year. I am very excited to try a lighter shaft because I have been playing a 70+ gram shaft for 10 years
The only thing I don't really understand here is that Buzza showed that swinging at max speed was actually perfectly okay to do for golfers. And that for a lot of the shots you hit, your increased speed was not necessarily associated with the 'wilder' shots you might expect from swinging harder at the ball. So following that logic (apart from the launch characteristics of the club, of course), shouldn't a higher club head speed be preferred and just be a matter of getting used to controlling it more?
I’ve got my light shaft just waiting for it to stop snowing, & the snow to melt to start testing . As for testing tsi 1 all depends on how far the price drops
Thanks Mark however to establish if this would work for the high handicap senior golfer you would need to demonstrate not your fast Mr Wonderful club speed but slow it down to show how it would respond to someone like myself with only a 70 mph club head speed Many thanks
Any recommendations for someone who doesn't have a concept of what they want in weight? What is a great way to start narrowing down to the best clubs to experiment with?
I swing it quite quickly. 105-110 but I struggle with loft. I have 155 mph ball speed but struggle with getting the distance I should get. I tried lighter club heads/shafts but I was wild.
Before watching the shots at pebble, I want to point out that he hit very few if any balls right of center on the driving range: how many will end up in Monterey Bay?
I am 51. No mans land when it comes to my home course tees. For our comps I have to hit off the young man tees with the 20 something guys but my swing speeds are only declining and I have 9 more years before I move up to the senior tees. I currently swing my driver at an average speed of 93mph. I have a nuetral attack angle and vertical launch is ok with missing being to high and spinning to much. Thoughts on going with a tsi1, tsi2 or tsi3?
Mark, what are the differences between the Tsi1 and Tsi2 heads? Can you swap a 'players shaft' into the Tsi1 head and get similar/better performance as the Tsi2...?
I SWING AT ... 108 mph. Used to use Adams drivers but eventually found the heads a bit light. Ended up going to SLDR then M1 and now Ping G410+ and enjoy the heavier head -- I just feel like I know where my head is at. Curious if Titleist doesn't try to market "game improvement" as much as others more because they themselves are worried about their brand?
You talked about 220 average carry which I believe to be right. It just leads to question that does 220 carry amateur need Titleist TSi1 driver ? Of course if logo brings happiness, go and buy one. But what the answer would be for " What is the smartest option for 220 carry if do hit that with driver?" Use your old driver and practice more? Buy quality second hand driver? You don't need top brand driver to get 220 carry?
Im 33 i was a 5 handicap 3 years ago but a car accident and a whiplash injury killed my game. But im getting back but so different than before. Im now the old man that swings slow but hits fairways and talks shit to friends for their 300 yard drives two fairways over. To be honest i feel like im approching the game better than before ill take tsi1 all day before i would have gone fore the 3 or 4 right from the wors go
Hi mark i have a TS2 tensei blue 55 gram swing speed around 85 mph sometimes think it’s too heavy would like to try something lighter. But i would rather have accurate shots than distance
I was tested by Titleist about a month ago with a trackman handy. My swing speed was around 100 mph. I was eventually fitted for a 40 gms AirSpeeder shaft with the TSi 2 head as the entire focus of the fitter was about getting the maximum carry. I personally think as an amateur I should be looking at total distance. I therefore think I need to learn to hit the club with lower spin to max out roll. What are your thoughts on this please? My landing angle is about 33 and Apex height was about 98 feet. Thanks!
Mark if I feel I am getting more speed but I also feel and perceive an increase in peak height/decent angle. Does it make sense to loft down to maximise the flight/carry/roll out.
what is max loft for TSI4. what would happen if you cranked up loft (ie: 11 or 12 degs) for a slower swing speed player - would it keep it straighter and also get a gain on distance?
"I SWING AT 105 MPH"... though who knows how exact that is. LOL. This was an interesting video. I reckon Mark could probably change the delivery to get more out of that clubhead... but, only he would know.
do the make an x flex 40g shaft? would a stiffer shaft cut down to 44.5 not get you the accuracy with increased speed? i have the tensai blue 55g x flex at 44" 280 in the fairway all day long.
Not tested but with my driver it almost feels too ligh, or not enough end weight (I’m not a fast swing speed). Mainly this is comparing to my 3w which when I hold it I can really feel the weight in the end and is so easy for me to swing, I only really screw it up by topping/fatting it. Neither are fitted so maybe the 3 is just a better fit for me by chance. Can more weight or more feeling of weight towards the head increase swing speed?
As alway love your videos Mark.... here is an idea, just saw the mygolfspy most wanted drivers list and Ping is nowhere near the top in strokes gained? Anyway, what about your channel having a leaderboard for drivers strokes gained, and as new drivers get released they can challenge to get onto/top of that list?
Apologies if ive got the wrong end of the stick.!! I am average swing speed bringing plenty of "noise".... I understood the iron test 2 days ago (blades came across well) are you saying i should be playing blades and a game improvement driver ?
It’s ok. Good question. The noise video is not about blades or cavity it’s about am testing. That video also explains where at a certain loft the Gi launch might help. This is about speed via overall light designs. Can you promote more speed by trying more options of head and shaft and at what point does that gain work or even cost you. Hope that helps with the stick. 👍
Perhaps not many average golfer are trying them because they are too expensive for the average golfer. The TSi1 in Ireland is priced at €579. Radspeed is €429 in comparison. Cleveland launcher HB driver can be got for €269. Quite a difference and if all these drivers have reached the peak then why spend €150 or even €300 more respectively. Madness.
Another great video Mark. The more I watch your videos the more I want to go and try out new drivers with different options. (I bought my drivers/woods on an online late weekend night shopping spree). I have a slower swing speed and trying different weight shafts intrigues me.
I heard that a baseball bat should be light enough that you can swing it fast, but heavy enough that you can feel where it is . Too light and you can’t control it because you don’t have any feel for it’s position. I think it’s the same for golf.
I swing at 103.5 mph... Mark, I don't have a real reason for this. But I never have tested a Titleist driver. Not in more than 25 years of playing golf have I even tested one, not to mention gamed one. I don't really know why. I just never consider them.
I swing at ... MPH. No idea how far I hit a driver either, really. There are so many weather and course condition variables on a given day, it does not matter how far the driver actually goes - except for the occasional dog-leg. However, I know how far I hit my approach clubs - these matter.
Try the PRGR which uses Doppler provides carry distance yardages. Can also set it up just to measure club head speed. It’s reasonably accurate lightweight and easy to throw in your bag.
2 Days after this video - Rick Shiels with TSi4 at 115 mph hits 303 carry and rolls to nearly 330 on the same computer screened hole......Mark at 113 mph barely gets 275..........What is going on?
I SWING AT .... MPH, It seems the manufacturers are producing unnecessary drivers. With the adjustable necks and movable weights, one driver could have been configured to fit all swing speed types. Maybe manufacturers are making these all these driver types to have more things to sell.
Back in the Summer of 2019 I was fit into the original TS1 driver (it had just come out that week). 67 years old then with a driver speed of between 85 - 90 mph. It immediately changed my driving game. For slower swinging folk, it should definitely be on the fitting list.
Remember when mark didn’t care about distance or speed and was happy with 262, now he’s turned into one of us, one of us one of us one of us
Chewy, he'll never be one of us. We are the Lockey Army!
I'm a low launch; low spin 90ish mph driver speed guy.....getting tsi1 after watching Nelly Korda use with massive amounts of success but I'll use with a slightly heavier shaft ( GD DI-TP 5R)

I managed an 82 at the weekend so just 3 more strokes and I will be back in the 70's. I've waited a long time for that.
Would like to see your data on the tsi 1 with a 60g shaft
"I SWING AT 90 MPH"...Mark do I need to look at higher MOI drivers with lower lofts or lower spin drivers with higher loft. I all ready spin the ball too much...Can I borrow your Mizuno ST200G, I know your not using it.....
Mark - you should bring me in from USA to compare TSi-1 -2 with various weight shafts. My clubhead speed is 87-90, so the value will be real world.
Heck yeah! So is the M1 R15 Slider and so on. New driver hype is exactly that....hype.
Mark would like to see you hit TSi 2 and 3 with the lighter shaft. Also TSi1with a heavier shaft.
👆🏻agree!

Tried a 50g shaft and struggled to keep the ball from spinning to high especially into the wind. I tried it for 2 rounds. Also lost it both ways.
I have a 100mph swing speed and prefer 60g . That was with ts2. Interesting test Mark.
Would love to see the data on that. 👍
Great comparison as always, & really interesting last weekend where Nelly Korda won with Tsr1 & 16 year old Chiara Noja won with Tsr4
So what about TSi1 with your shaft? Would that improve stability without giving up speed?
I still love light but not ultralight. I play a Callaway Epic Star 12 degree 39 gram senior shaft . My club head speed is 80mph. Straight and longer than other drivers I tested, max out at 210 yards.
"I swing at 104 mph"
I have tried shafts from 50g - 80g but never side by side on a launch monitor. I tend to choose based on which gives me my preferred feel and trajectory. Currently playing 65g.

Try the TSI1 with a shaft that's available through Titleist. Can't remember the weight of it but the Titleist rep said it was a stiff senior shaft.
I swing at 115 and I want to get fit for a driver this year. I am very excited to try a lighter shaft because I have been playing a 70+ gram shaft for 10 years

So following that logic (apart from the launch characteristics of the club, of course), shouldn't a higher club head speed be preferred and just be a matter of getting used to controlling it more?
Is one of the issues the different shaft flexes vs shaft weight?
I play one of the original TS1 drivers and Love It!
"I swing at 115 mph". Recently got fitted for a new Driver and that was my speed. I ended up with a ZX7 with a 60g 6.5 shaft . 🇦🇺
I've had a 55g shaft in my old Callaway 512 BBxyz for 5+. No new head beats it in their line. It's just me.
Again great review Marky👍
Got fitted into a TS1 last year - hit it 20 yards further than anything else. Put it down to the lighter shaft I guess.
I had a 40 g shaft in my Callaway. 90 mph SS. Ball went all over the place. I dropped a 50 g R in it and it's a lot better.
If you know that it had a tendency to go left, what would happen if you adjusted the hosel setting to more of a fade bias?
You talked about 220 average carry which I believe to be right. It just leads to question that does 220 carry amateur need Titleist TSi1 driver ? Of course if logo brings happiness, go and buy one. But what the answer would be for " What is the smartest option for 220 carry if do hit that with driver?" Use your old driver and practice more? Buy quality second hand driver? You don't need top brand driver to get 220 carry?
I swing at 95-97 most of the time. Swinging out of my shoes I do hit 102 from time to time.
Is your tee box the same as the one used for tournament play? You're hitting to the same place as the pros.
do the make an x flex 40g shaft? would a stiffer shaft cut down to 44.5 not get you the accuracy with increased speed? i have the tensai blue 55g x flex at 44" 280 in the fairway all day long.
Interesting video 👍🏻
Do you think the better smash factor with the 4 is loft or head weight?
The stock Alta shaft is a nice match at 95mph
I have been looking at the Tsi1 vs the Callaway Epic Max. Any opinions would be appreciated
Try it in C4 setting to eliminate the draw
Curious though if Mark adjusted tsi1 with less loft if he wouldn’t get the same launch and lower spin with the more speed?
As alway love your videos Mark.... here is an idea, just saw the mygolfspy most wanted drivers list and Ping is nowhere near the top in strokes gained? Anyway, what about your channel having a leaderboard for drivers strokes gained, and as new drivers get released they can challenge to get onto/top of that list?
I would love to trial these to see if suits my game better than Callaway
Maybe it was said and I just missed it, but was the TSi1 hit at the same loft as the TSi4?
Madness.
Did u try the 40g shaft in the TSi 4.
I swing at 87 miles per hour
Trouble is you never see anything other than reg stiff or senior shafts to try
I’m playing at G410 Plus 10.5 , My swing speed is around 105.
Another great video Mark.
The more I watch your videos the more I want to go and try out new drivers with different options. (I bought my drivers/woods on an online late weekend night shopping spree). I have a slower swing speed and trying different weight shafts intrigues me.
My swing is 90 mph don't find any difference in lighter or heavier shaft, distance is 225 yards. My current shaft is 50 grams and is a fairway finder.
I just saw a what’s in the bag with nelly Korda after her win and it said she had a TSI 1 is that correct
I heard that a baseball bat should be light enough that you can swing it fast, but heavy enough that you can feel where it is . Too light and you can’t control it because you don’t have any feel for it’s position. I think it’s the same for golf.
Mark did you have 40 gram shafts in both drivers ?
I swing at 103.5 mph... Mark, I don't have a real reason for this. But I never have tested a Titleist driver. Not in more than 25 years of playing golf have I even tested one, not to mention gamed one. I don't really know why. I just never consider them.
I swing at ... MPH. No idea how far I hit a driver either, really. There are so many weather and course condition variables on a given day, it does not matter how far the driver actually goes - except for the occasional dog-leg. However, I know how far I hit my approach clubs - these matter.
Is TSI one nonadjustable? Why don’t you adjust it so you don’t hook it as much and then do the test
Why the remark about testing a 40g shaft @ 90mph?
My golf coach said I have a slow swing. I can't disagree.
Mark, can you recommend a reasonably priced product for measuring swing speed? Something for the average Joe to use to track progress??
Try the PRGR which uses Doppler provides carry distance yardages. Can also set it up just to measure club head speed. It’s reasonably accurate lightweight and easy to throw in your bag.
@@seancook2264 cheers mate. Ordered one.
2 Days after this video - Rick Shiels with TSi4 at 115 mph hits 303 carry and rolls to nearly 330 on the same computer screened hole......Mark at 113 mph barely gets 275..........What is going on?
i want a TSi1 type head on maximally stiff 55g shaft to try as a higher speed player.
"I swing at .... MPH" - usually about 111 avg on Trackman, but I haven't been on in a year.
Is this not a failure of the fitters? I don't care what they give me, just optimize me
Switch the shaft in the TSI1 and let's see what it does
I swing 118 mph. Still playing my 915D3 8.5' Diamana white 70g S.
295 carry?
@@mattbecham3094 on higher launch shots.
I SWING AT .... MPH, It seems the manufacturers are producing unnecessary drivers. With the adjustable necks and movable weights, one driver could have been configured to fit all swing speed types. Maybe manufacturers are making these all these driver types to have more things to sell.
Good stuff
