    txg.ca - Ron, our average swing speed tester, is back in the studio to test the new Titleist TS1 driver! Find out if the lightweight design helps him swing faster and gain more distance, or is the TS2 still a good fit?

    Love the explanation of differences between the 2 drivers. Ron has keen eyes for details and numbers. Well done 👍

    Loved seeing this Ian. i can tell you it's been a game changer for me. Like Ronny I was playing the G410+ up until this, and having very good results with it accuracy wise, but no longer than the 400Max I had last year. Immediately out of the box the TS1, I gained 5 to 8 mph swing speed going from 83 to 84, up to 91 or 92. That's translated to a gain of about 12 to 15 yards. My smash factor has come down a bit as it is longer in length. But I still hit it straight enough that it hasn't lost much becasue of that. I listened to who you described a perfect fit for, someone who is accurate, but not long and has a bit of a fade bias. Hand raised that's me, and that's probably why it has worked so well for me.
    Love to see your still doing great work here!!

    Great tidbit from Ian about a lighter head producing less MOI. A heavier head should resist twisting more than a lighter one, but I had not thought about it before.

    Love your videos. Have Ronnie, an average golfer, test the same clubs that Mattie tested using stock shafts, factory settings etc. This would give us average golfers a better idea on how the clubs perform. Post the average stats for each club side by side for and easy comparison. Thanks.

    Thanks for making the connections with OEMs to get the newest models to test. I was curious about the TS1 but it's not available yet.

    Customary insight for TXG, thanks! I was surprised at how much ball speed the TS2 was delivering for the speed of your client's swing. My G400 Max is barely a year old and has been very good to me, but between the new G410s, the TS2, and maybe one or two others, drivers just continue to get better and better.

    Love watching your channel it amazes me when you change the club head or a shaft or moving weight around the difference it makes all this convinces me to get a custom fit oneday I just might have to travel from Florida to Ontario to do that

    For an odd moment there I thought that I had tuned in to a "Me and My Golf" vid by mistake before I realised that Ian & Rocket Ronny were in matching ensembles! Very nice, by the way!!!!!!
    PS Can you ask Ron whether he has any male relatives in Warrington, UK? An ex-colleague of mine is virtually a "doppelganger" of Ronny right down to the beard.

    I would like to see the guy hitting the balls try the Cleveland HB Launcher and compare it with the TS1 and TS2. I replaced my Cobra F9 driver with the HB Launcher, and I have had a lot easier time hitting fairways on a consistent basis. I'm also hitting the Launcher just as far as the F9.

    I was fitted for TS2 (at TXG) last fall. I'm hitting 12% more fairways this year with slightly more distance overall and that's with the wet spring here in Southern Ontario. No need to even try the TS1 for me.

    I just moved into the TS2 and had the same experience with center strikes. I was down to the 410 and the TS2 and while I hit the 410 a bit longer, I was straighter with the TS2 and I consistently hit the center of the club face.

    Can you put in a heavier back weight on that TS1 to bring the head weight up and use a counterbalanced shaft to keep the swing weight reasonable and get that head even more forgiving and higher launching and spinning than TS2?

  • @speerchucker64
    @speerchucker64 5 лет назад +1

    With the TS2 it seems you were playing a half inch shorter. Would that length in TS1 not help with strike and swing weight?

  • @gonzalosanabria2251
    @gonzalosanabria2251 Год назад

    TS1 is a beast like a wild horse that needs taming…… once you find your comfort level the TS1 will deliver great distances and straighter shots….. it will take some time to adjust to it

  • @ss1597
    @ss1597 5 лет назад

    Will adding 3 grams of head weight slow the swing speed significantly enough to make a distance difference or would it be offset by club head awareness for better contact? Thanks for your great content.

  • @guychagnon9300
    @guychagnon9300 5 лет назад

    Thank you guys about thinking slower swing speed test. It is fun to see Matt swing, but it does not represent most of the players out there. About the test, I was surprised how low the spin was in your fitting for Ron. I though this kind of swing speed (90 ish Mph) would need more spin and launch angle to get a better distance in carry and total. Ian can you explain please?

    so this driver made ian think about ron on release, but it was clearly not for ron. i wonder whether that’s a good reason why getting fit is so important, or whether the driver is not performing as advertised?

  • @rufussthoo4083
    @rufussthoo4083 5 лет назад

    Hey guys. I would have thought Ron's 5 degrees up swing path and 12 degree launch angle would have delivered more height (and hence distance) than it seems to. Is that a factor of the very low spin rates he is producing, or merely ball speed?

  • @jackchildree1491
    @jackchildree1491 5 лет назад

    I hate when people get upset over the line expansion, if you needed a super low spin driver when you got a TS3, you would’ve gotten an epic flash SZ, and if you needed something more forgiving when you got a TS2, you would’ve gotten a G410 Plus.

    Stamped 10.5 and it’s 11.5, wait what? Kinda confusing, what is real maybe TXG Channel is only computer animation, is Ian real is Matty real? Sorry makes me want to stick pin in my eye, and that folks is why you subscribe to TXG. Thanks TXG and Ron appreciate your time and effort as always 👍 #golfisamatrix

    Toeing my 410 set standard. Would setting to draw get closer to center?

    • @morgancross5481
      @morgancross5481 5 лет назад

      Changing CG with weight placement won't really influence your strike location, it will just shift how that strike behaves. Moving the 410 weight to the draw position will actually make your toe strikes draw more, which is likely not what you want.

    One of the problems is his club head speed. Ts1 is for under 85mph

    • @ryang1910
      @ryang1910 5 лет назад +1

      Scott Timmins nope. I respect these guys a ton. Yet if you are going to review the club, and the guy you have doing this, doesn’t mean who Titleist designed it for, that could be a problem.

    • @ryang1910
      @ryang1910 5 лет назад

      They say he is Mr. TS1 but his swing speed is over 5 mph over what it was designed for, that isn’t really the case

    • @scotty_teee4226
      @scotty_teee4226 5 лет назад

      @@ryang1910 the guys swings it's between 85 and 90. You won't get much closer. Ron's delivery and personal feels work better with a head that is heavier, which in turn helped him feel the head, in turn had a more consistent strike. If you told him to swing between 80 and 85, I'm sure the results would be the same

    • @ryang1910
      @ryang1910 5 лет назад +2

      He isn’t under 85. That is why ts2 was the better fit

    So ironic Titleist getting grief for arguably doing what Callaway and TM have been doing for years. Undeserved grief I might add. Rick Shiels in particular really annoyed me with his comment on the matter. Glad to see Titleist bringing decent drivers to game.

    • @scotty_teee4226
      @scotty_teee4226 5 лет назад

      TaylorMade and Callaway do it differently. And TaylorMade don't have this many current drivers. TaylorMade release every 12 months and then older models aren't current any more. Callaway release every 12 months but the previous year's drivers stay "current" so really they end up with the most "current" drivers out, if you look at it that way. Ping were the only ones recently, until Titleist did it, to release other drivers of the same family, within it's "current" cycle.
