The expendables of the time. Great game, although half the fun was switching characters all the time to see what abilities you could use to your favorite. This game was gonna be released as Arc Hound for Japan but was delayed so much that it was released as a North American exclusive. Easier than all Contras, but nonetheless one of my favorites in the series.
Despite being a bit laggy, just looking at it I can say it doesn't deserve the hate, it's doing lots of cool fun stuff for an NES title! Fantastic graphics, great music, creative set pieces, very interactable scenario, 2 gameplay modes, multiple characters with unique sprites... Maybe it's not as tight as the other Contras, but if this were the only one, it would be an undisputed classic. Either way it's always stood out from the rest for me because of the things it does
This was my most desired game ever! That soundtrack brings back dear old 1995 when we used to play it nights away... I couldn't find it in stores when I most needed it. Only years later when NES emulators came up, I managed to play it again on a PC.
OH it was Contra Force, I didn't know the name of this game till now. All I remembered was "Beans" and the four player mode and wondered what this game was since
One of my top 3 games at the time. I remember I used to beat the game over and over again just to hear the music right after you beat the final boss. I though it's the best music from a video game back then.
Out of all contra games this one is my favorite one. I used to play this game on repeat and second stage sound track is my favorite sound track of this game. I just love this game.
10:08 I remember the time when that crate on top wouldn't reset everytime I fell back down (It was glitch with my version of the game I guess). It used to piss me off, and I had to restart the game. However, my friend and I found out one day that u can jump, pause the game, and jump again to past through that part. This brings back memories.
My childhood is coming back to me! My late grandmother had a ton of these games laying about when I was a youngster, one of them happened to be this one. I never got past the the third stage because I wasn't sure as to how the elevator worked, but it was still fun to play. The first level of this game will always be my favourite in terms of enjoyment, soundtrack, background scenes, and gameplay elements. I wish I still had the gaming system I used to play this on. I miss it so much.
I remember playing this with a friend of mine. I was the leader (blue guy) and also had the bazooka man, he played with red using mainly missiles and also had the bomb guy. Great game, great fun ! The good ol' days.
I miss my innocent childhood days, where I didn’t had to stress about anything and just enjoy life playing video games with my siblings .... Ohhh how I wish I could go back to the old good days ...
It's 2008 , you came back from school , you did set up game console attached remote and started playing this game while having your lunch Missing those days
First game to feature destructible environment!!!, really love this game, the modern urban setting, the music, the action set pieces, you cant find a game where you chase the final boss through building even today , I remember finishing this game so many times when thinking that maybe there is a different ending!!!after all those years, this situation ended with several things left unsolved!!!
There are much heavier games in both graphics and soundtracks (Batman - Return ok Joker). This slowness seems to be deliberate. Edit: Oops. Thinking better. Slowness is not purposeful. maybe it's a lack of optimization or those extra features that they put in some cartridges for some heavier games.
@@jugg9140 Depends on the region. In PAL it's 50, in NTSC it's 60. Of course if it starts lagging when there's too much stuff happening (or the code is written badly) it starts dropping to 30, or 20, 15...
stage 3 was the most difficult for me. First you had to kill the 3 enemies and time the weight to catapult you up then the rope climbing jump, for which the rope itself was mostly out of the screen literally making you think what to do next. I was stuck for months because of this stage. Thank you for uploading
On stage one you can stand on gate marked with a number 17 pointing up and hit select or pause (I don't remember which one) and you would get an almost unlimited lives. It worked for me.
Contra force was fire. I beat it a couple times. It really wasn't supposed to be a contra game, It was called ARC HOUND but they scrapped the name and it became a spinoff of the contra series.
I remember renting this game as a kid with a friend. My mom got us tacobell drive through first or McDonald's. We were amazed how big the characters were on the screen. The game is hard. I don't think I've ever beat the first level.
I don't know how but I got casset of this game from someone and that casset have four of the best games and one game was this .........I used to play this all day with my brother and in double player there is a hack in which all the 4 characters have 17 lives each and we used to try it always sometimes it happened sometimes it didn't...... Because it gets so easy when you get 17 lives for each player and you can play 1 player mode even in 2 player mode by just disabling it in setting of this game......Truly advanced game of that time and most loved.....

Originally it was a game called “Arc Hound” where it’s sole purpose was to be sold for the Famicom Disk System, but since that has been long dead by that point and has been discontinued not long after completion, it never got released there, and instead of just releasing it as intended in the west they decided to change the title. It’s basically Konami’s equivalent of Street Fighter 2010, which wasn’t supposed to be a Street Fighter game either. It’s a shame too because these games probably would’ve been remembered a little more fondly if they simply didn’t try to cheap out and didn’t have faith in their own more original and newer projects. I get that they wanted them to appeal to a wider audience who is already familiar with those games, but *come on,* it’s like trying to slap the Mario brand on a FPS. Not that Mario hasn’t been used in different gameplay mediums before, (Mario Kart, Party, and the sports games come to mind) but unless it was done in similar tone to Chex Quest, with an FPS it’s just a lot more bizarre and random…

Contra force was just unique
Definitely the music 👍🏻

This like Contra Fuse wiht Gradius so it hits different from the previous Contra game.
Somehow, Contra Force was my most loved ever, despite its slowness compared to the other ones.
I love it too. I don't care about slowness at all.
Yes, somehow the slowness felt good too. It's all about the timing still. So, it didn't matter much.
Media Matters
Way better than contra hard corps!
@The Jolly DJ See a psychiatrist, please.
It's not even a real Contra game, they just slapped the name on it. It's garbage.
19 years have passed bit it feels like yesterday ...these are not just games these are emotions.. NES was something more craving than Drugs.

The soundtrack is probably my most favourite in all NES games
Contra Force an Ninja Gaiden 2 have the best Soundtracks on NES
Mega Man?!

Double Dragon 3 and Mighty Final Fight for me.
