    Very unfortunate you feel the need to "justify" or explain your actions/decisions. Nothing but respect from MY end to Josh and Mrs. Stoney Ridge. Haters are gonna hate. Let it go.

    • @StoneyRidgeFarmer
      @StoneyRidgeFarmer  6 лет назад +4

      Man this must have come out as cocky and condescending to some folks...was meant to be educational and help folks understand...tons of people have been asking about how it's all getting paid for...and most of them think it's some "trick" or "I'm lucky"....I just wanted to make it clear to folks that this is not "luck" it's hard work and dedication....planning and a dream....
      Blessed.....yes......Luck? No ......it's called hard work and intelligent planning

    • @WPRJersey
      @WPRJersey 6 лет назад +1

      Singleman well said. I can't understand why there are people who watch a vlog, only to criticize it. If the vlog involved something that you don't support, don't watch.

    • @singleman1986
      @singleman1986 6 лет назад +1

      +Josh @ SRF....Just keep doing your thing and we'll keep on watching. I'm no Spring chicken. If you WERE actually "cocky or condescending", I wouldn't be here. ANY "successful" person is gonna have to deal with envy and "haters". Not only do we have to WORK to EARN what we have, we gotta FIGHT to KEEP it......Sigh.

    • @singleman1986
      @singleman1986 6 лет назад +1

      +Will R.....Losers hate successful people because they remind them of their own inadequacies. So they spew hate to make themselves "feel" better. And NOW, the 'net allows them to do it anonymously without risking a broken nose.

    Awesome vlog!! Most people wouldn't go into detail on how you afford to do stuff like this. I think a lot of us that want to do something like this and watch vlogs like yours instantly think the vlogger had money to begin with so they can play or the land was given to them just because I've seen many where that's the case and it makes a world of difference. Not that it's a bad thing good for them for having been dealt a better hand than most but for most people the land is the most expensive thing, it's everything. Man keep up the good work and hard work and know that there are a lot out here that really appreciate what you're doing.

    One thing you might want to consider now that you have a lot of your trees pushed out. You might want to try logging a small spot your self you will more then double your profit . I did not have a choice when I started but you will like the job done a lot better.

    • @StoneyRidgeFarmer
      @StoneyRidgeFarmer  5 лет назад

      Yep....I've though of this for sure....however we logged around 100 acres and have about 60 more to log. I'd rather get my check and let the loggers do their jobs....take the profit and clear the land in behind them. Logging is very very dangerous....I'll be harvesting trees for milling soon...but this project was way to much for me

    I can see both sides. I grew up in East Texas where we had a ton of trees and had to clear them and brush every year to help lower the possibility of fires, and to help some sunlight get to the ground. Also now living in NM where we don't have a ton of trees they're a luxury, and I would love to have more. We have forest fires every year up in the mountains because there's too much brush and trees. If I had your land I would be doin the same thing. Shoot I envy all your trees, and water. Wish we had some but we live in the desert.

    Hi Josh your 100% right it’s your land and I have to say your making the best choices making rough land into a future investment. It’s your money and your choice and not anybody else’s. I have land and have done something similar (not on your scale) and it’s a great when you see all your hard work turning something abandoned into something great. Keep going mate it’s a life choice and I think your right. All the best Simon.

    Good explanation as to how you can afford it. People keep telling me I'm lucky to own 80 acres at the age of 29, but there was very little luck involved. It's been my dream ever since I moved away from my parents farm at 18. I went to college, got a decent paying job and saved my money very aggressively. The newest vehicle I own is 21 years old and I haven't had a car payment in probably 8 years. My old vehicles are cheap and easy to maintain and repair. I have never had cable tv, don't own the newest high dollar smart phones or tv. Heck I haven't bought a tv in 10 years. I just never cared about impressing other people with my possessions. I eat out MAYBE twice a month and hunt for most of my meat and grow some veggies to keep food costs down. If you live the simple life, things are so much easier!

    I have a bunch of stumps i have pulled up with my excavator, and more to come. One thing i cant do here in NH is burn stumps. Which sucks. I guess its considered solid waste and its against the law in my state. I need to get creative on disposing it, recycling center wants to charge me some serious dough to recycle it, just for them to sell it as mulch. They should take it for free for that matter.

I just wonder how they would like it if you were to go over to their place and tell them what they should do with their home or what color they should paint their BMW or their living room.... of course not one of them would say anything to your face, they hide behind a keyboard and think they know everything and everyone of them show their ignorance in their comments.
    Great video and I hope you and your lovely wife find nothing but success on your adventure, Lord knows you have chosen a hard but an extremely satisfying life!
