Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Fighting Edition (SNES) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

- A playthrough of Bandai's 1995 versus fighting game for the Super Nintendo, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Fighting Edition.
Played through the story mode on the hard difficulty.
Alright, so the Power Rangers Street Fighter clone looks incredible - it could easily pass as an early PlayStation game if you threw in a couple FMVs at the beginning and end. It fun and it plays well enough, but it's extremely easy and there's not a lot to it - there are a couple of special moves and simple combos, but at least it is extremely kid-friendly (read: button mashing can easily get you through most of the game if you feel so inclined). It's a huge step up from the first MMPR on the Sega Genesis (it was also a fighting game), and if you are/were a fan of the show, it's well worth a try.
An interesting bit of trivia: Natsume's core engine developed for this game was later used again for Gundam Wing: Endless Duel

"This game has practically only ONE music for the entire game!"
Seriously, u need more than that MAGNIFICENT guitar solo?!?!
I swear, that Airport stage is so wonderfully rendered and thusly a great pleasure to just peer at.
I remember being blown away by this game's graphics. Very solid spritework.
I took much for granted when I was young, but I more than appreciate them now. People sleep on the SNES ranger games, even the beat m ups.
The fact that this game and "Gundam Wing: Endless Duel" were both published by Bandai and developed by Natsumi makes sense - lot of similarities in the sound-effects/gameplay/instruments used in the music.
Same game engine - Endless Duel is basically this game's Japanese version.
The artstyle is also very similar to Ninja Warriors.
That thought in mind and, knowing that the Wing Gundam & Wing Gundam Zero have second super moves where they jump off screen, change into there bird mode and, fly into there opponent ala Z Gundam's Wave Rider. I feel like they could have let the Ninja MegaZord have its finisher from the show where the FalconZord attaches to its back and flies into its opponent as a super move instead of that "Ninja Clones" thing it does...
This game, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Fighting Edition follows the same rules and format of most 2D fighting games, particularly Capcom’s Cyberbots: Fullmetal Madness (1995).
The player(s) objectives are to defeat opponents in a best two-out-of-three match using their character's standard and special moves. The player has four basic attack buttons (two punch buttons and two weapon buttons) and a set of command-based special moves unique to each character. The player can grab and throw their opponent like other fighting games, but if two characters attempt to do this at the same time, they will wrestle each other until one overpowers the other.
Below each character's vitality gauge is a power gauge that automatically fills up and resets during battle. If the player performs a special move at the exact moment the gauge is filled, their power level will increase by one level, allowing the player to perform stronger attacks. If the player manages to increase their power level a third time, the gauge will be temporarily replaced by a thunderbolt symbol, allowing the player to perform a super move during this period.
There are three game modes in Fighting Edition: a Story Mode where the player fights against the computer in a series of story-based matches; a Fighting Mode, where the player goes against another player or the computer (or have two computer opponents fight each other); and a Trial Mode where a single player must defeat as many opponents as possible without losing.
Hiroyuki Iwatsuki composed a lot of music for Natsume back in the day; he is considered the Japanese version of David Wise!
Rightfully so, he's awesome
I used to have this love it. Brings back memories
Michael Holt me too; if they can release the game to Nintendo switch would be amazing.
Someone else in 2020 that wants this game to be released to Nintendo switch?
Fuck yes I do I just started rewatching all seasons
Yee! :3
Yess, Why not All power rangers games era SNES get release it again on nintendo switch
I mean no...
will be cool
kinda wish they had the original megazord and dragon zord in this game as unlockables
me too. They best in Power Rangers TV series
Me too. This game was actually released during the transition between Season 2 and Season 3 of the original MMPR series.
@@user-rs1990 I kinda wished it had more stages to fight in....
They could have added Cyclopsis (Goldar's zord) too.
I too wished they added the Dino Megazord, Dragonzord & it's Fighting mode or as I call it Warrior mode were unlockable characters & wished there would've been more stage's in the game
I gotta say...when my stepbrother was beating this game for the first time, and when IVAN FRIGGIN OOZE showed up out of no where...My bro was like "DUDE, I DIDN'T KNOW IVAN OOZE WAS THE BOSS?! THAT IS AWESOME!"
This one is a gem. Throw in the classic Mega and Dragon zords and it's perfect.
Add in the TigerZord and Red Dragon Thunderzord in warrior mode and it would have been great too.
After I pulled off Lord Zedd's super move a few times I realized: Those weren't just needles coming from his fingers. He was holding an energy projection of Earth in his hand as it blew up from the side facing his opponent.
It might not be Street Fighter 2, but it certainly looks awesome, and it does an awesome job at providing a flashy bit of fan-service.
+NintendoComplete wow it's even the dragonzord, that brings back memories from my childhood, and the music is perfect for the theme of the game! :D
+Sylvester Ashcroft I know right? It's so in your face, I love it!
it's funny how they rerererereremade Street Fighter 2, but this ended up looking so much better
I didn’t know about this game until years after it’s release. Love it! Even love how they included Ivan Ooze.
Zordon said This Ranger team did what my team could not.
You will humbly walk amongst your peers, but heroes you all will be.
Each of your names will be etched alongside the great Ranger teams before you.
I will always owe a debt of gratitude to you all.
I have such fond memories of this game. I remember going to -Blockbuster- and renting this game. Lipsyncher was my favorite. Needs more females/zords like Scorpina
I remember playing this while blasting GreenDay in 1995 thinking I had all the answers to life. 😂😅
MEU DEUS QUE NOSTALGIA
This music is epic!
2019...Good Times!😏
This game is the perfect ending for the power rangers "trilogy" on the snes
I wonder why they used the ThunderZords instead of the NinjaZords for Story Mode since Ivan is the final boss.
Loved this game when I was a kid!
The game was awesome. Kinda sad that we didn't get the Dino Megazord, Dragonzord, Ninjor, Rito, Cyclopsis and Eye Guy though ^^;
This is like Gundam Wing Endless Duel but with Zords...
Had this game as a kid. Loved it.
Used to play this game at my friend's house when I was a kid and got impressed by the quality.
One of the best soundtracks in history
*IT’S MORPHIN’ TIME!!!*
MASTODON!
I like how the morphing grid is a literal grid system
This is betters then power rangers the movie game on snes
+John Lomuscio (Jowill) Definitely, I love this one
NintendoComplete power rangers the movie for snes the game designers were so lazy
The best was on Sega, it's the best power rangers game
2:58 -That Angel Grove mall looks like Aventura Mall at Miami-Dade/Broward, Florida.
I used to play this as a kid alot. Love this game
I would rent this from “The Warehouse” and this was when booklets we’re still given (if lucky enough) and this one had the codes in the back to unlock all of the peoples! Kid me was like “I found the treasure” lol
Jesus Christ, the music in this game kicks so much ass!!
Man these graphics are so good!
Thunder Megazord was from Gosei Rangers, and son was the White Ranger!
I like Serpentera in the background, while fight Lord Zedd and Ivan Ooze. 👍🏿
We need Thunder Megazord Power Now!
That 8 bit sound track is still fire😎
16-bit, actually. But even then, it still rocks!
@@tempporary9914 You shouldn't really compare the sound capabilities of a system to it's bits
I really enjoyed this when I was young...
Someone must have had a hard-on for Silver Horns. For a character with barely any story in the show, his costume was used for at least one other villain that I remember, and he was also a notable boss in the power rangers the movie game for the snes. They chose him again in this game over Rito or Scorpina.
I recall playing this game in 2000 on my PC Snex emulator🤔 good times.
Fighting as the MegaZords was always my O for Power Rangers~
I just wish they had started this kinda game from the first season, this one had been the second and, they make a whole series/line/franchise of MegaZord fighters like this one...
I'm a huge original power rangers fan but I didn't even know about this game
I remember renting this game as a kid and beating it on a Friday Night with each Zord, and then my mom wouldn’t take me to get in a new game for the rest of the weekend so I just played through with all the characters.
I would have been so pissed off if I had paid full retail for this game because even if you are only an average player it doesn’t take more than an hour to beat
We need like an MMPR classic game collection at this point
Cool! What a graphics!
Underrated game
Wow, the last two was a shock to see.
This game kicks ass.. they should do an updated version..
That would be awesome. Given how many Power Ranger seasons there have been since '95, it would be great to see different Megazords represented in a game like this one.
Best game ever developed
Power rangers forever
I'm impressed my record for beating this is 25 minutes?!
Só faltou voz digitalizada pra esse jogo,no mais é fenomenal, lembra um pouco Gundam wing
Awsome Stage Fight Music
RIP Tommy Oliver 😭
I LOVED this game I just wished they had more characters like the dino megazord, dragonzord, rito cyclopsus(goldar's war zord) and scorpina and I wonder if the dragonzord could combine with the thunderzords I guess if Tommy's green powers weren't limited that might have happened
What sucks is that we can’t play as the Ninja Megazord or Shogun Megazord in story mode
pixel art is soooo good in this game
I used to have this game played it all the time I liked playing as the mega tigerzord though although when I couldn't beat Ivan ooze I learned how to block with the the thunder megazord in the arcade mode I used the Shogun simply because of the fire sword and every attack made a lot of damage
Only thing I wish they would have done, is if you beat the game on Hard Mode it would have unlocked the OG Megazord and Dragonzord.
This game would be way better with more characters...
Dino Megazord, Tyranosaurus, Dragon Zord, Tigerzord...
I want a remake but w the dino megazord, dragonzord and titanus playable, imagine this with more moves and modern graphics like DBZ Fighterz. I miss the old gaming days!
This makes me wanna watch Dairanger
If they do a remake they could feature Red Dragon Thunderzord and WhiteTigerZord in warrior mode. They could also include other Megazords from the series.
This game needed more characthers 4 more. original megazord ,Dragonzord,Ni jor,Rita
They should’ve made this game a launch title for the original PlayStation but with extra Zords such as the Dino Megazord, Dragonzord and Dragonzord Battle Mode not to mention some extra monsters from Season 1-3 such as Robogoat, Eye Guy and unused monsters such as the Steamie Meanie. Plus I’d replace Ivan Ooze as the final boss with Master Vile.
Thunder Megazord always my favourite zord.
Was this only a 15 minutes game? Was very happy when i got this game for my Birthday back in the days, but always was dissapointed because of the few Zords the game had.
There should be another game like this, where you can play as a monster or megazord and fight each other.
Awesome.
There should be another game like this, where you play as a monster or megazord and fight each other.
I wish all the power rangers games, would come to Switch.
More Zords would have been great. A well made game. Never had it but I did have MMPR the Movie on Mega drive.
OST is so good.
Hiroyuki Iwatsuki was a god.
After the first games were very popular in on snes and sega this fighting game came up next this as the zords trun to battle
MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS THE FIGHTING EDITION
They should've kept both the Dino Megazord and the Thunder Megazord as separate robots.
I am surprised Ivan Ooze is the final boss, even though the movie is not connected to season three at all.
Release this game today with an massive extended rooster
Sounds alot like that gundam game for the SNES
Algien me dijo que aqui aparecia el dragonzord
😲
Entonces te mintieron.
Electric duel 👊⚡6:27
It may not be one of the best fighting games out there, nor the best Power Rangers game, but it was still a fun one and I still have fond memories of this game. I would love to see this game get a remaster of some kind that can include the original Megazord and the Dragonzord Battle Mode.
Dragonzord my favorite God damnit 🤘
I'd beaten that game several times.
Based on the show and mighty Morphin power rangers the movie
Dairenoh pilot zyuranger
The music sounds almost similar to megaman x
i.whised.this.game.was.on.xbox.360.that.whould.be.awsome
Your videos are great!
I wonder if Hasbro owns the rights to this game. Should definitely be re-released
0:01-0:04 Shouldn't that be the Hasbro logo and not the Bandai one?
This game was made 23 years before Hasbro bought the action figure rights and later the entire PR franchise.
Chinese mythology creatures in the background
Dino rangers in the foreground
*confused Dairanger noises*
That is because Power Rangers is based on various series of the Japanese television series Super Sentai Rangers.
The first Mighty Morphing Power Rangers series includes various series of Super Sentai, but due some circumstances (one of them being the cultural confusion) the Power Rangers keeped their usual attires, and some things were picked from the Super Sentai series, like the zords.
Maybe you just got unlucky with the random number generator... but there were way too many zord battles. The monster fights were MUCH more interesting. They were unique and had their own backgrounds. The surprise boss after Zedd was cool. Wasn't expecting to see him. :)
all player characters should have their own stage and sound track theme, right??
@@sammyyo461 Yeah, the bad guys each have one, but the Megazords all use Go Go Power Rangers? Only Thunder Megazord should've used that. Mega Tigerzord should've had White Ranger Tiger Power and the Ninja and Shogun Megazords should've used other songs from the show.
Is this version on Sega Genesis?
Nope, the Genesis games were totally different
This game needs a remake...
Bether they include Scorpina, unlesss Silver Horns
