Another awesome video! I had a pretty unpleasant experience this week with a turd anti-vegan pediatrician, who basically attacked our entire lifestyle. I needed a dose of positive veganism like this 🙂 By the way, my 5-year old is 99th percentile for height, and I have about twice the amount of muscle as the doctor did, so...

Nice! 12 Years fully vegan, probably about 15 since I first started to dabble and I'm still here and thriving! Keep it up. Semi regular blood tests, supplement the necessary stuff (b12, d3, maybe omega 3s if you or son don't consume a lot) and you're good to go for at least another year before you fall apart. ;)

F**k that guy! I’m approaching 15yrs vegan, everything we have to supplement, carnivores would too if their meat didn’t eat it first! Besides B12, I definitely recommend tracking protein until you know intuitively what’s enough! The latest data I’ve seen is at 2.2g per kg of body weight, and for vegans likely higher to ensure good distribution of aminos.

I had a doctor last week be awful when she found out I was vegan. She completely ignored the blood test results and told me to take enough iron to cause constipation and "just take a laxative." I pointed out that my iron wasn't low. She said that plants don't have iron so it was in the process of depleting. Um, I've been vegan 17 years. I also pointed out that I have no symptoms unlike two of my meat eater friends who are completely anemic. She got enraged when I said no. Never going back to that person again.

Love the recipes as always, man. I have to say I don’t ever consider shredding or bulking, I think both can lead to strange body image issues (depending on one’s prediction to disordered eating, a predilection I have and which took years to overcome). I think finding one’s way to I intuitive eating and movement based on what works for you (with a little mindfulness is supplementation and macro nutrients) is the way to go, our bodies fluctuate a little and I think if it’s within healthy ranges, I just don’t worry about summer shred. Thanks again!

After going through some incredibly challenging health issues that surprised me… I now am grateful to be rebuilding strength, lean mass and watching the inflammation and adipose tissue leaving.
My moving to doing high intensity low impact intervals and a small amount of sustained cardio has shifted things. Plus closing some key exercises to lift heavier. Small tweaks have made significant progress. I learned some from Erin Stern a pro bodybuilder. The easiest I have found is to send live and appreciation to my body more often. And just keep stepping up to do the extra exercise and not worry about losing muscle. The worry is the worst.
Luckily you are a fit man who is wise about lemon water and keeping fats low. Our livers regulate fat in the body a lot. Those things live the liver. Good luck. Thank you.

I love these (what I eat, how I exercise) videos. No wonder you're in great shape compared to most people, even if you're wanting to drop a few more pounds! Hi Team Simnett , Super appreciate ,,,your content and presence .
I actually feel hopeful after listening to you folks.🌷
Would you explain the use of the amino acids,a new topic for me🎉.

    • @Simnettnutrition
      @Simnettnutrition  Год назад +1

Hey and thank you. Maybe this is a good video idea, but I'll give you the run down here. So BCAA's (branch chain amino acids) used to be what was thought to be the best for an easy boost to protein intake without adding many calories. The BCAAs are Luecine, Isoleucine and Valine. The 3 amino acids most responsible building and repairing muscles. Newer research is showing that all 9 essential amino acids (EAA's) is actually more beneficial since they all work synergistically.
I have been working fasted (no food in the morning) so in theory a concentrated source of protein like EAA's should help prevent muscle wasting and maybe even help me keep building while calories are lower. I actually find they are a bit energizing and keep me going throughout my workout without any crash or tiredness.
With regular caloric intake you will get enough of all 9 essential amino acids from a variety of plant foods. Actually every plant food has all 9 essential amino acids, some foods are just lower in some than others, which is why a variety is key. They are also in vegan protein powders in fairly high amounts as well.
EAA's as a supplement are not necessary for most people, but it is another tool that can be used in the toolbox of many.

I too tend to put on weight in the autumn and winter but for the past 3 years I have fought against it because it shouldn't become a habit imo. I have now maintained a stable weight for three years because I don't think it is healthy to keep putting on and losing weight, as you get older you will find your skin might get flabby in places, and for some people putting on weight, even a couple of lbs, can be a slippery slope, plus clothes hang better if you don't put on weight.

    The points I loved are:
    1) Preload calories - eat more in the morning = fewer accidental snacks in the evening ;)
    2) Smoothies. Good for bulking, not so much for weight loss. Don't drink calories. (Derek suggests eating smoothie with a spoon ,w hich also works.)
    3) Stay active throughout he day. Dialy activity aside from exercise (NEAT) adds up
    4) Smaller lunchand a snack later works for many people's lifestyle. The benefits I observe is avoiding afternoon slump and they don't need to pack a huge meal with them if they bring their own food to work.

I was wondering if adding plant-based collagen and calcium would maybe help. Any thoughts on that? Maybe also some anti-inflammatory foods?
On another note, I would love if you would do another obstacle race again. I remember you did a Spartan race years ago and I myself got into OCR a bit because just running is too boring for me. Perfect timing for this video! I planned on eating lighter beginning next week to lose a few pounds for the summer and my daughter’s wedding. 😊

Did you make the balsamic glaze? My kids love it but I can’t find any that is premade and healthy. Thanks! Love your videos

Hi and thank you again! I totally appreciate the attention to healthy weight loss, but I am unusual in that I am active and I’d like to do some healthy weight gain (add muscle mass). The usual advice to just “eat more calories “ isn’t as easy to do in the plant-based world. Do you have a video on that or could there be one in the future? Thanks!

Everything looks delicious! Winters shouldn't be a problem for an active guy like you, I have a suggestion...Get a dog or two, you'd be amazed how much extra walking and activities you will get and have tons of fun too !! :))

We want a dog or two or three so badly but we aren’t allowed on in our rental and it’s so hard to find somewhere that does. We have tried to buy but housing prices are absolutely nuts here!

I've lost a lot of weight thru Fasting and I'm at 14%, I don't think it looks well enough, I look back at my records I ve hit 10-11% before and still didn't like how I looked. I used to weigh 300 lbs so I had a lot of loose skin, I believe I need to get even lower to 6-7% inorder to be happy about it, but I'm not sure.
Aiming to do so this year.

Love your content and good luck for your weight loss goal!
Side note (and not a complaint): As a Swiss I have to say something about the pronunciation of Herbamare, though 😜 (also because it's a Swiss company that makes Herbamare). It's a composite word of herba for herbs and mare for sea, because it contains herbs and sea salt😂. So, the correct pronunciation is HER-BA-MA-RE. 😅

OMG! I heard a lady say it like that in the store one day and I thought she was just being extra! That is so funny. I had to look it up to make sure. They say it right at the end of this video. Lol. So fancy. Alright alright, I stand corrected. ruclips.net/video/lERr7RSFWZ4/видео.html

My 4 year old loves that pizza seasoning! He’ll eat anything if we put that on it. He’ll sit and eat a whole bowl of black beans with that stuff on them haha
