Great video- as always!! I just want to add something. Don’t shoot the messenger 😮💨 But the Better Than Bullion has maltodextrin in it. Maltodextrin can upset the gut biome big time. I steer clear of it 100%. I use a fat free veggie broth in the carton, that doesn’t contain oils. Hard to find organic but I’d choose that over maltodextrin any day. You do awesome work and I love love all your recipes. I have a whole folder just from your content!! I couldn’t be plant based successful without you!
Thanks for your amazing and such positive videos Derek!
I've been watching you for 3 years now and you helped me, my sister, and my mom turn vegan and become our healthiest selfs!
Thank you so much that means a lot to me and I am so glad you enjoy my videos :)
Thank you for sharing your experience, knowledge and inspiring energy 🔱⚡🙏 thanks for being a part of the change! Blessings
Long time viewer. First time commenter. Love your content. Your videos keep me motivated to stay active and keep my plant based meals interesting here in the UK
Thank you so much Chris, I really appreciate it!
Totally agree Chris. Derek is fantastic. Wish there were more UK based WFPB channels too.
Love when your videos also educate. Those are my favorite ones. Thanks.

Thank you so much Derek I always learn so much from you. Please don't ever stop making these videos.
Very helpful... as always! Thanks for showing up, bud. 👊
Love that you mentioned being in a calm state while eating! I definitely need to work on this myself!
@@IRBOXELA lol at thinking being relaxed will change the fact that humans can’t digest plants
Thank you, great recipes, content and energy as always!
Thank you so much for this video! It’s so timely for me personally as I have been struggling with my digestion for a while. Appreciate all you do!

Super helpful!! Thank you so much from New Jersey :)
Very informative. Appreciate the information. Thanks!
So much good information! Thanks so much. And I really liked the gym music. 😀
So much powerful information. thank you for your research and prep time on these videos. Well done. And yummy!
These videos are GOLDEN. I have often digestive issues, mainly because I eat very large volumes (like, not one head of salad, but two or three in one go...). Even tough the food are healthy, since I very very rarely eat processed stuff, I definitely need to readjust my relationship with portion sizes. Thanks for all the tips here!
i've learned so much from your videos, thank you!
Great information. Thanks for sharing it all. 😊
Derek this video couldn't have come at a more perfect time. I've been trying to stick with a more plant based diet but my digestion has been horrible. Thanks so much for all the tips 🙏
Great information, as always, Derek!
I defo need to focus on my digestion and gut problems, thanks for this video 😊
Great tips, Derek!
Thank you for this digestion episode ❤
Thank you for this video, I think it will help me a lot. Your video's are so helpful.
So happy I discovered your channel. I learned a lot about digestion. Very motivating too! 😻❤😻
ALWAYS LOVE your videos, Derek. Thank you ! I have digestion issues sometimes, and I find that KITCHARI is incredible. I keep it super super simple, low salt, no oil, white rice and split mung beans and very wet. This is a life saver when the gut is unhappy. It turns things around quickly. Also, I make homemade kraut and I think it's almost magic to keep the gut happy and those microbiotics thriving. Walking a bit after a meal is also KEY, and many cultures do it, not so much in the West sadly.
Thank you SO much for focus on digestion. All good info & I find peppermint tea & short walk after dinner helps!
Another great video with good tips. Thank you.
Love these recipe especially the kitchari has sooo many benefits.
Excellent vid Derek.. your channel always delivers great content and look forward to any of your new releases brilliant 🤩🚴👍
This was so helpful. Thank you
Super informative!!! Thank youuuuuu! 💕
Good timing on this video, I am in the process of trying to fix my gut issues (that I ignored for far too long). Thanks for all the suggestions and advice.
(Also, your cats are adorable!)
Loved this video ! Love all your vids 😄
Thank you for all of your videos, Derek. Your meals are so simple and tasty, and you really keep me motivated on my healthy weight loss goals!
Can you please do more meal prep videos? They would really help with portion control. Thanks!
Love it! I’m trying these. More please! My digestion is pretty bad. Thank you for the tips.
Read the book Fiber Fueled! Excellent Book! I fixed my digestion pretty dramatically by following the protocols in the book. Increase fiber, take a prebiotic everyday (I do Benefiber), eat a Sauerkraut every single day. I dumped coffee and my afternoon digestions is SO much better for that.
Also getting rid of constipation. Some don't even know they are constipated because they 'go' every day. But have 'stuff' backed up doesn't mean you'll never go. Having a backed up system causes bad bloating and gas. I took Miralax for a few days and cleaned the pipes, so to speak, and I responded much better to food. I then added the Benefiber and wow by bloating and gas were gone. HOpe this helps.
Yet another useful and enjoyable video! Derek, you are the BOSS, man!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching :)
I bought some Swedish bitter after this video. Changed my life. Thank-you
Love your videos and recipes. I follow Ayurveda and frequently have Kitcheri. To really give your digestion a break Kitcheri is used as a mono diet. I make a huge pot but only use rice, dahl, and certain spices. I cook it for hours and the flavor is so much better. I eat it for Breakfast, lunch and dinner for 3 days and can’t get enough. My tummy is chill after.
Excellent info on the most helpful foods and exercises. Dill seed tea has long been used for babies with gas, it works very well, so I guess it would work for grown ups as well. As always an enjoyable and informative video.
It is always a happy Saturday when your videos come out
Thank you Lynda!
Some great tips in there!!!
When you do your reclined knee to chest hugs/compressions, apparerntly you should always start on your right first due to the structure of your digestive system.
Thanks for another fab video. Quality content, consistently!
Fantastic information. Thank you
Great video! Thank you for sharing.
So important. Thanks again
This is just the video I needed. I can’t wait to try out your tips. Thank you for the great content. 🙏🏼
You're welcome Andrew! thanks for watching :)
Wonderful topic and video
Once again showing why you have one of the absolute best channels on RUclips --great video! My biggest issue with digestion is the sheer quantity I eat (e.g. my typical bowl of oatmeal is 5 servings of oats, 4 servings of frozen berries and 2 servings of hemp seeds 🙂)
Thanks so much Rich! Eating smaller meals more often is definitely a good tip I should have included!
Maybe try increasing the calorie density and decrease the volume of food. Ex: cook the oats in soymilk, sub some of the berries for dried fruit or dates, add in some nut butter, or just doing a smaller portion of everything with a smoothie or pb toast or something on the side. When your body is used to a wfpb diet it can usually tolerate more of the nut butters, smoothies, fiber, etc without upsetting digestion :)
I agree. I am a small woman and could never eat the amour shown here. I was having such issues with beans. Well- I was eating a cup plus other stuff. Once I lowered it to a 1/4 cup with other healthy things on my plate- beans were no longer an issue. I can certainly build up over time but I’m just over the moon I can eat beans now.
@@Simnettnutrition It's crazy to watch how many ingredients you use, all the packaging, plastic, shipping, land etc required to make all of these completely unnecessary foods is crazy
@@eskanda3434 and then not even being able to digest it properly😂😂😂 this video and the comment section are clearly the epitome of health
I have heard that drinking during or after meal dilutes the stomach "juice" and slows down digestion. I have followed this advice for many years and try to drink at least 15 minutes before meal and no sooner than one hour after. It works for me. Really enjoy your informative videos.
Did you just hear that or is it actually science based? Asking because I usually drink a bunch of water with my food since I thought it would help digestion..?
@@StefanRows hi Stefan 🙋🏻♀️ I watched a UK health series a few years ago, which went into this in some detail, with scientific evidence shown. I wish I could recall the name of the series but this particular advice really stuck with me. I don’t always follow it but when I do, I notice the difference and have better digestion.
Please do more of these videos on easy to digest meals :)
How much do you drink before your meal and after?
Thank you for the tips. I struggle with the chewing part of food, I have a disability that triggers me to swallow foods fast. I am trying to break that habit so I have post it's all over the place saying "chew your food, enjoy the food your eating" 💕
love it! thanks
Thank you, as always.
-central Wisconsin: Thank you for this video Derek, and thank you for showing me that bok choy can be stirfried. I use bok choy into my produce smoothies, and salads, but I didn’t realize it can be stir-fried, so thank you!
You’re a great cook!
Best content on utube, you Inspire us , love your recipes and tips, on health and wellness, thank you so very much for all you give e to so many, you really help me stay on track with my plant base life style, there are times when I don't know what to make and look back on your videos, and always find something amazing to make,,
You had thought me another thing this morning, to cook the apples with the oatmeal, I never thought of it before, that's a great idea when I run out of berries and bananas. Thanks for all your great tips, I will definately make it. Oh and the Vegan Frittatas were excellent, my family loved it. Thanks again for sharing with all of us, great tips!
Derrick! Fab, fab video!!!!!!
Thank you!
This was so, so helpful, thank you! Would love to see a video or some recipes for those times when you just need something sweet / baked…. I get that a lot around the time of my period and would be awesome to have some whole food, plant based options to go to! Thanks for another great video! X
I am easing into eating for a better way of life. I suffer from a bunch of labels and I am sick of pills. Honestly my eating habits are not good from lack of experience and price of food shopping. I keep watching and slowly adapting my meals. ✌️
What's causing the digestive issues?
He's a vegan it's incredibly unhealthy and bad for digestion.
@@alwoo5645 Very strange. Wouldn't the easiest remedy for such a problem be to just stop eating whats causing the damage. If something I eat doesnt agree with me it's taken off the menu.
My digestion got so much better when I saw a herbalist and she told me to take 3 big breath before each meal, and Chew a minimum of 20 time each bites..also without distraction ( tv.. Phone...) and now I can eat raw leafy greens!! 😊
😂😂😂😂
There is an easier solution: stop eating toxic plants with anti-nutrients. We are no cows, we can not digest plants. Bloating is NOT normal. It is a sign that you eat something you shouldn't eat.
The king of vegan nutrition content on YT.
Thank you for sharing. I enjoy chopped ginger with every meal. I also add some finely chopped greens in my oats before cooking in the morning (or any time of day). I find that dandelion greens are easy to digest as well. Hence the bitterness in them. 💚🌱🇨🇦
More videos on digestive issues please!
Great video! Mung beans in khichdi/khichri are easier to digest for me. Not sure why :)
Really useful video!
Really appreciate all of your educational videos. I started my vegan journey in 2018 and your videos have helped me stay vegan!! Definitely will be trying these recipies ^. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Nice. A mature voice for a fruity pre workout…great endurance. Daily celery juice after that fab lemon water will actually heal any digestive problems… when taken daily. Plus the mineral salts support a workout. Hope you had a good day.
A trick I've been doing a lot lately that really helps is when I'm in the shower, I put a body oil wash all over my abdomen and give my tummy a massage starting from the right side to the left side
awesome tips thank you
I have dysautonomia and this video is awesome!!!!!❤
I read somewhere that liquids along with a meal is bad because it dilutes your bile in your stomach. And i do feel better ever since i stopped drinking for my meals. You do create more bile by drinking water but it takes a few hours. So you should only drink a few hours before or after a meal. Didnt know about the swedish bitters and other tips in here, greatly appreciated. Im definetly among the people with some of the worse digestive problems it gets kinda depressing to eat sometimes because you can eat so little variation. Big thanks for the video!
The cats outside super adorable!
I know this video is a few months old, but somehow I just saw it. You know, if you wanted to put out one of your amazing recipe books all about easy on digestion cooking, that would be so very helpful. Thanks for all you share!
I love your videos so much. Great tip about using bitters before eating. I love the written tips on your videos, but please keep the text on the screen a bit longer. I can’t read that fast. Thanks Derrick!!
An additional thing for me is having a day or two of lower fiber foods. I find some days I accidentally have like 20g more fiber and *ahem* things get backed up and I feel bloated etc. Having a low fiber day with lots of fluids usually works.
My Great Aunt always had bitters at her house when I was a kid. I have a tincture with wormwood and walnut in it and it sort of tastes the similar. Going to try that today at dinner.
One thing I have tried is adding balsamic vinegar to plain sparkling water or flavored. I do add a squirt of liquid stevia for sweetness. Its supposed to taste like a Coke. It kinda does.. Loving your channel! Such a motivator! Enjoy the adventures, workouts and awesome food 🙂
Lovely video, defiantly helpful.
I'm curious what your opinion is on Wax that covers the apples?
We also have the swedish bitter in europe, VERY effective against colds and generally improves your health. We make it in schnaps, tho;)
Good video! Thank you! Could you tell us/me 😊 about the plants you have on top of the cabinets? They are so beautiful, I have 2 in the corners of my cabinet, but I do not know how to make them grow on the cabinet
As you were cutting the avocado - I am one of those people for whom avocado causes problems (stomach cramps)! 😆 I’m sure you get this on every video: “You must be psychic!” I was just recovering from a stomach bug :) Thank you for these quality videos. I tend to forget how great simple oats are.
Thanks derek 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thank you thank you for this video my digestion is so bad :(
Derek, you were in one of my dreams last night! You were coaching/encouraging me on starting a new workout routine 💖 it was actually really inspiring and I went out for a run right after our talk! Also you agreed to make new content about salt… so video idea? 😅
haha that's awesome. I am not sure what kind of video I can make on salt, but I'll add the idea to my list :p
I practice I F. So I don't have any calories in the morning.
I have more energy and work out on empty stomach with no calories at all. I love your food videos, depends on when I watch him it makes me really want to eat!
my man! 🔥
