If this show has taught me anything it's that there is no evil. Everyone who does bad things is broken in some way. Mikeal was a horrible father but he at least had a good side towards Freya same as how Klaus had a good side for Hope whoom he never hurt or had true rage towards in the slightest.
Mikeal was broken too. It was because he lost Freya, his little girl. She was his daughter and the person he loved the most. If Klaus had lost his daughter Hope, he would have gone completely insane too. And another thing is that until he made his children vampires, all he did was to make them strong. Mikeal had a hard life as a viking and lost his first born daughter Freya, his wife loved another man more and cheated on their marriage getting a child from the leader of the very pack that killed his youngest son Henrik when he was just a child and that was if we're being honest partly Klaus's fault because he took him along to dangerously watch the wolves turn out of his genetic obsession and then he gained heightened emotions from being a vampire and later his wife was killed by that son who wasn't his and his whole family was turned against him abandoning him to be alone while they go on with Klaus. This is all definitely an explanation as to why Mikeal was the way he is and perhaps he was worthy of redemption 2. However unlike Klaus who always acknowledged his fault and usually did bad things for the right reasons such as cursing Hayley when she almost ruined his daughter's life and made a discrase of him not to mention betrayed him that was completely justifiable or when he killed the witch Collete in season 5 because all witches of the New Orleans coven deserved death and they were disrespectful towards him + they contaminated his city but Klaus still always found fault in himself in all these situations where as Mikeal always blamed others and that's what makes Klaus a better person. Another thing to note is that Klaus was a much better father in every way and to him one didn't have to be blood related or the same skin to be his son as shown with Marcel. Also Klaus did respect and reward loyalty whenever he could where as Mikeal hated Klaus despite his loyalty as a child for completely uknown reasons that either way weren't his fault and however you look at it Mikeal and Esther brought what their children did to them upon themselves where as Klaus never brought things such as Marcel's betrayal or Elijah's daggering upon himself because he always had justifiable reasons for doing what he did.
Very true but to play devils advocate each time Mikael looked into Klaus’ eyes he was reminded of his wife’s infidelity knowing he was another man’s son. So the hatred towards Nicklaus was possibly more towards the man who slept with his wife (and her betrayal to him) but he was on the receiving of that anger every damn time. Too bad that part of it was not explored in depth as the relationship between him and Mikael through much of the series. I have to hand it to actor, he definitely made viewers hate him in every single scene…Bravo sir 👏🏾
For me it's 5:57 and 6:35 "I need to know why?" and the look on his face when Mikael's last words are for his daughter that he barely knew and they were "I'm sorry" and "I love you" both things that were like rubbing salt on Klaus emotional wounds which he clearly still carries.

Agreed. In my head the reason I came up with is that perhaps a witch foresaw Klaus getting rid of the hollow centuries later and took the steps to ensure that the future happened. Putting a curse on Mikael to feel hatred towards his son and behave cruelly to him, setting Klaus on his path. It doesn't make a lot of sense but it's better than just hating someone before having a reason to hate them 🤷🏾♀️

I think Klaus was the son Mikael loved the most after Freya, he said to Davina that when Klaus was born he was rejoiced, that he had high expectations of him, that he would be a true warrior, even if he already had Elijah and Finn. Then Klaus didn't turn out what he expected him to be, that disapointment soon became hatred after he found out Klaus wasn't his son. But still a strong emotion like hatred can only be followed by a strong emotion like love, if Mikael really didn't consider Klaus his son, he wouldn't have spent his entire immortal life chasing after him.
Klaus didn’t deserve what Mikael put on him. Mikael despised his own son for something that was no fault of his own and Klaus tried so hard to be something his father couldn’t beat down. That's why I would pick the originals over TVD ALWAYS and forever. They pointed out hard topics of parenthood and how we are not out parents and if even they were abusive and you got only shit you still can be good and in the end of the day not to turne into the monster that raised you. And it's better to chose your sibling side then your father side even if you are scared. What else is that sometimes not having parents around it's better then having abusive parents.
