The most beautiful and complicated relationship between a father and a son. Their love was raw, painful and the way Marcel quoted Klaus word by word, there are things only a son can learn from a father.
They’d fight and fight but they would die for each other. Marcellus Gerard son of Niklaus Mikaelson.
From slave, to prince, to vampire prince, to vampire king, to a beast of prophecy... Marcel had one hell of a glow up over time.. just wished they made his character realize it instead of having his character always seem like he hated his life. Could've died nameless in a ditch or from a rope, instead was raised into immortal royalty and trained to be a tactician so that he would never feel weak again. Klaus wasn't perfect, but it would've been nice to see a scene where Marcel would've said thank you or appreciated klaus more
He did appreciate it, but the family made a lot of mistakes regarding Marcel.
There were a many scenes where Klaus killed for Marcellus. Let's not forget the Voodoo King wanted to kill him bc Klaus killed his twin sons.
You make it seem like he should be grateful Klaus saved his life,but what's life if your only allowed to enjoy half of it?
Klaus over parented Marcellus and still had his own demons to deal with. He hated variables and Marcel/Rebekah union was a variable he couldn't protect either one from what others would do to them if caught.
@katherinebraxton5068 especially back in those times 👀 I'm happy the show stayed away from the racial stuff and just told the story. But we all know, in the 1800s .... they would've hanged Marcel before he would've had a chance to turn, and klaus would flee after ripping New orleans in half for doing so. Also, I know ancient times, royalty kept it in the family... but imagine your stepson is smashing your sister, klaus handled that better than humans 🤣

I agree. They were two souls each nameless who found each other in one of the darkest periods in our history. The love they had as father and son should have transcended any pettiness, but it didn’t by the writers design. They were family despite everything and at least they came back together in the end and with Marcel finally admitting how much he loved Klaus and HIS family❤❤❤❤
I never imagined I would like marcel when I started the show, but he became one of my favorite characters!

Oh My God I almost cried during this video. I been waiting for this video since before Christmas and you did not disappoint. This Definitely was a Phenomenal Masterpiece for Niklaus Mikaelson and Marcellus Gerard’s Father and Son Relationship. Even though Klaus and Marcel always had a Love/Hate Relationship Klaus did manage to do the one thing that Mikael never could have done he loved someone who wasn’t his own blood because despite that Marcel is not a Biological Family Member he has a always had been his son. Hey TVDU Editor could you tell me when your done with Klaus and Mikael/Hope and Ken’s Rivalry tribute?

What do you expect? The dude was broken and saw a little boy who was going through the same thing he did but he didn’t know how to be a father. The dude didn’t have a good role model. He was jealous because he saw a Marcel as a good man which he was not and was jealous that a lot of people loved Marcel and trusted Marcel.

One thing I never understood is why Klaus never gave him his surname? Lol it ain’t like Klaus has much right to it either if that’s the problem.
Kinda always hoped in the finale he would approach Marcel with a mission to take out the rest of the families enemies he couldn’t get to in the time skip and if he accepted from then to call himself Marcellus Mikaelson.
I mean even though Marcel's father owned him and beat him relentlessly, doesn't mean Marcel can just change his surname to Mikaelson. If Marcel never had a mother or father, then he'd most likely be given the Mikaelson name.
Just think of him as an honorary Mikaelson.

Klaus loved marcel more than marcel could love klaus but the way marcel kept him locked for 5 years is not forgivable. And I'll always hate him for that. Freaking whiny bastard marcel.
The one thing I hate about Marcel's writing is that, in Season 1 -- he REALLY WAS a Mikaelson. You could TELL he was raised by Klaus and the siblings. I hate how they turned Marcel into a super whiny, bratty and ungrateful character. I get that he totally had reason and right to be bitter in Season 1 and partially Season 2. but, I would've liked if the writers took the spin on it that Marcel (deep down) really WAS a Mikaelson and would fight for his family. Without always being wish-washy in his feelings. Or being overly resentful.
Klaus and Marcel had potential for a MUCH deeper and beautiful relationship development. I'm annoyed how they wrote Marcel in Season 3 and onward.

I agree with you bc Marcel was raised,natured and protected by Klaus. Klaus wanted to treat him right,but he wouldn't have been able to keep him or Rebeka safe from the riotess bigots of that time frame.10:45.
They Mikaelson’s killed Davina, essentially Marcel’s baby sister, in Season 3. And after that Elijah killed Marcel because they were afraid of Marcel tipping the power scales in into balance. He had every right to hate them from that point onwards.
@@Godaerentalos yeah, more bad writing decisions from the writers. My whole point. Marcel could’ve been executed better if the show hadn’t made the stupidest decisions overall for the show.
@@Tess1061I think it would’ve been good if Marcel had forgiven klaus, for he was not the one to want davina killed (in series 3), and as he defended Marcel as Elijah tore out his heart.
But Marcel not knowing these things made his anger justified. But klaus just never tries to defend himself- he only ends up protecting Elijah in the end. Like, tf? It was badly written

And marcels desire for revenge perfectly shows he’s a mikealson. When have we known any of the originals to feel slighted and not retaliate with an unrelenting vengeance? Mind you they literally leave New Orleans bc REBEKAH called mikeal to kill klaus, we literally meet Elijah in TvD as he’s on a mission to kill klaus. We literally see flash backs of kol looking for ways to kill or put klaus down. Finn literally tried to kill them all. Esther, mikeal, and dahlia all try to kill them. you’re acting like it’s not the norm for the mikealsons to work against eachother. And you also seem to ignore that just like the mikealson siblings, despite their “hatred” of eachother, whenever they needed help, Marcel was always there to help despite everything they did to him they literally killed his adoptive daughter and he STILL helped them. Marcel in every season, is exactly like a mikealson. Y’all just think klaus saving Marcel from slavery centuries ago means Marcel should be a mindless slave and excuse and ignore every shyte thing klaus and his siblings did and do.

Truth is Marcels rule of New Orleans while no paradise for Non Vampires maybe aside from Humans mostly aside from the rare slip ups was much less tyrannical then Klaus, Rebekahs, And Elijahs rule yeah.

Yes but from Marcel's perspective Klaus just stood by and watched Elijah kill him. He was already dead by the time he fell off the bridge so he didn't hear Klaus' scream. He thought Klaus didn't care and just stood by and allowed Elijah to kill him.

@@Marcustheseer You would also be filled with rage if that happened to you. Anyone would. Don't forget that Elijah killed him after he helped Freya destroy Davina so they could get what they wanted. So from Marcel's perspective, he helped the Mikaelsons multiple times, saved Hope and Hayley, tried to protect Klaus from the unsiring spell, and stayed loyal to them, only for them to betray him to save their own skin and then for Elijah to kill him in cold blood, with Klaus just watching Elijah and not doing anything to stop him. At that moment, the time for talking was rightfully over and Marcel was definitely going to kill Elijah. But he knew that the Mikaelsons always stick together so in going again Elijah he was also going against Klaus. He definitely wasn't going to let Elijah live, and he wasn't going to allow Klaus to try to talk him down or get between him and Elijah.
