Me personally I never liked vicki at all from the beginning she annoyed me and was a bitch to Jeremy and did him wrong and she was nothing but a druggie

Well, I can tell you and ease your fear, the hollywood type of vampires that you see in the movies do not exist, so don’t worry about a bat flying around you and shape-shifting into human form and biting you, this will never happen. However, real life vampires basically they feed with blood, I do, either animal blood or human blood, everything is with consent (except when it comes to animals) . Blood is required for us to feel good, be in a better mood, human senses become stronger etc. So after all, real life vampires are harmful and harmless the both ways, we do go out at daylong and night bite bad people on the street, and yeah! There are rituals and ceremonies to engage in before you can turn into a vampire..

I think they didn't focus on it because viewers wanted something different. (It looked cheesy). Im not sure, but I watched or read it somewhere. I would think vampires could compel animals but they might be magically blocked from doing so (the whole nature thing)
I did some thinking about what made TVD less likeable to me than TO. Well, first of all, Damon. I hate his character, I hate his body language and how people are trying to redeem his sorry ass. There's nothing that isn't revolting about him. Only Caroline (maybe the 2nd best character in the series) saw him for what he truly was: the inferior choice. And then, we had a main character (Elena) whom they tried to make a heroic, selfless, compassionate person, but failed at it miserably and kept that line of failing up until the very end. Many of the events made no sense whatsoever, because Elena made no sense whatsoever. Catherine was the best thing that ever happened in the show, far more interesting than any other character in there. And she chose Stefan. Even she made better decisions than Elena did. Hell, even Amara made better decisions than Elena and she was desiccated for 2000 years, lol The main reason, however, was that TVD was rather superficial, whereas TO had a lot of substance. It was very dark and complex, but intriguing and quite interesting. In an ideal world, TO would be the more successful show. But in our world, the inferior candidate wins. Just like Damon is in the love triangle. OFC there are good things about TVD, like Katherine, Caroline, Bonnie, and Rebekah torturing Elena
