And she really nailed it! This is a home made music video, so she were not sitting in the rocking chair when they recorded the audio. The grand piano is provided by her long time friend and collaborator SIR Joost van den Broek (After forever, Ayreon). 😎👍
Something that you should know about FLOOR JANSEN. She started singing in a symphonic metal band at just 16 years old. After Forever (1995-2009). Then she created a new Progressive Metal band, ReVamp (2009-2016). In 2018 she released a personal Hard Rock project (Northward). In 2012, she was invited by Nightwish to finish their world tour, after the band's second female singer (Annete Olzon) left. In 2013 she became Nightwish's full time lead Vocalist. She is a singing teacher. She sings in Dutch, German, English, Spanish, Finnish, Swedish, Italian and Latin. She sings Heavy Metal, Trash Metal, Pop, Rock, Symphonic Metal, Arya and Opera. She even sang rap. THE BEST SINGER TODAY IN THE WHOLE WORLD.

😘👍 Floor did Alone already with her first band After Forever
As a huge fan of the original composition by Heart, I feel that Floor did very well by it. And that very top note always explodes with emotion.
I love all of these Covid performances that Floor did. To produce videos like this in her home studio was pretty remarkable.
I can tell you that unlike many, I like Floors low register best.
The very opening notes of Floors voice in this give me instant shivers down the spine. The same happens with Nightwish songs in her low register. I would be very happy with an entire song in that range.
I really loved her low range in the verses too- beautiful timbre.
I'm right there with you...her lower register is so full and rich...as in her alto part in her duet with Simone/Epica in Stabat Mater Dolorosa...yummy!

What a benefit to have Joost van den Broek on the piano. He boosts up the energy and then the scream, often the hardest part for a singer, flows out so effortless.
Yes! Was just gonna give a shout out to Joost. His work on the keys is exquisite.
Next up: Floor singing “Vilja Lied” from the Merry Widow operetta, which was the first song she did on the Beste Zangers 2019 series.
She was first up and almost nobody knew who she was. They certainly weren’t expecting THAT from the “screaming metal singer” and their reactions were priceless.

Hi Juliet. Nice attention to detail in your comments. I’m a member of the so-called NW army and have heard Nightwish 3 times here in Maryland since 2015. Floor is one of the best singers I’ve ever heard and I’m a senior citizen and have heard so many of the greats in multiple genres. Floor is an Ann Wilson fan and has done this song numerous times over the years. (and I’ve heard Heart several times also, they were awesome). New sub 😊

A Viking Goddess, Floor is just off the hook. You can't critique defined perfection. But what you can do if you have the education is, explain what she is doing and why.
Her version of Oblivion from the film is excellent as is her singing Euphoria an Eurovision Song Contest winner. And her solo version of Shallow from Lady Gaga is superb on Dutch TV show Beste Zangers. ruclips.net/video/M68pe4a_9zk/видео.html
She sang some of the songs from Beste Zangers and the ones from home during the covid isolation period during her solo concert in Amsterdam, late 2021. Definitely worth watching and hearing, and even Henk Poort comes on stage. My favourite is Face Your Demons, a song from her After Forever period.

Hi Right now Floor is 5n half months or 6 months pregnant. She just finished doing a tour to promote her new album.
I think Floor found it necessary to keep it a little softer due to the intimate and slightly slower style with piano only.
Love the song Adagio Floor covers. Great reaction Heart and Vixen was the girl groups i loved in the eighties.
I wil say this again: Alone by Hart is also a cover....and not the original, at first they even did not want to do it. But the record label pushed them to do it.
Yes, it was was written by and for i-Ten. Never received any success though, until it was covered by Heart.

Great reaction! If you like to hear a full-on belting Floor, you should definitely react to After Forever's (= Floor's 1st band) rendition of "Alone". IMO one of the best vocal performances by Floor (in my personal top 3), and better than this one IMO, which is a matter of taste of course. Floor's passion is blazing gigantically(!) in After Forever's rendition. And in 2007 Ann Wilson did a radio interview (I don't know for what radio station) and she mentioned a metal band from The Netherlands that covered Alone. She also said that Floor's vocals blew her away & this cover introduced her to Floor, who she thought covered Alone beautifully. Unsure if it was intentional (maybe it was) but she says "getcha" instead of "get ya/get you". Not a criticism - I have zero room to criticize here. When I was a child, my mother was a professional singer who constantly went to a singing coach to catch bad habits - mainly to keep her singing/pronouncing clearly. Floor speaks/sings multiple languages, and this could explain the difference (phonemes in different languages are different - UK English has 39, while the US has 45). Depending on where she learned her English, this may be correct.

@@YourOnlineSingingCoach apparently it’s an AKG C12 VR Reference Tube Condenser Microphone, which means nothing to me. Probably the only one which can handle Floor at close range 😂
