As lovely as Floor did on this, shoutout to the audio engineers. Whoever produced this is top notch. The mic selection and placement, the EQ, the reverb, it's all perfect. The piano even sounds amazing. And all while it sounds like the engineering is staying out of the way.
The guy on the piano is Joost van den Broek, Floor's old bandmate from late After Forever and ReVamp. He's been working as a producer and, occasionally, a session keyboardist for some small, insignificant underground bands like Epica and Ayreon, to name a few. :) I'm sure he's the one who did the final production here.
Huge shoutout to Joost van den Broek for the awesome piano accompaniment. Joost and Floor are regular collaborators going back to their time together in After Forever, and even working remotely each in their own home studios, they did an outstanding job. It's very hard not to hear the Heart version in your head, as it's so engraved on our ears since the eighties. Floor has a lovely, well trained and amazing tone right? This version, being so sweet, changes - in a different and good way i think - the phrasing. There's room for that. But also, changes not the shape, but the intention on the entry to the second chorus. I think it's a genius device to leave that much space on Heart's version, and is the top moment on this song for me. Floor leave less space, and the sweetness of the whole mood makes it great still, but Ann Wilson's vocals in this part hits you with a hammer on the chest, almost making you choke with the emotion transmitted. Must say, i don't really like to make the comparison, but in this case was very hard to explain the effect of that particular pause and entry of the voice on that chorus. Floor is my favorite singer when it comes to nightwish and how she filled a space between Tarja (the first, heavily trained singer with an amazing tone and technique) and Annette (second vocalist, more ¿pop? oriented, very impressive in her own right). She can do both in a very balanced way and make the songs her own, in a very beautiful and flexible way.
I have heard just about everything Floor has performed and though there are more dramatic performances I keep coming back to Qué Se Siente from Beste Zangers. Floor turns a Salsa song into a sexy metal song and completely blows away Rolf Sanchez. She said Spanish was difficult for her but you would never know it listening to her. As a vocalist you will see her go from a breathy sexi voice to a full on driving belting voice. She uses breath releases to accentuate lines and make then sound provocative. Seeing Floor with her hair up and a flower in it is a rare treat. If you choose not to do a reaction to this then treat yourself and watch it just for the pure pleasure of watching her sing for Rolf, you will be thrilled you did!
Hi Elizabeth, I Loved this performance and your reaction! I first heard, "Heart's," cover version of this power ballad back in the late 80's and Floor, along w/ the piano accompaniment, did an Amazing cover. Her delivery and approach made this song and performance unforgettable! Thank You, Elizabeth!!! ❤
There's definitely a great degree of comfort here, as Floor's been doing this song since her After Forever days - in studio and on stage. As you noted, it's very well thought out. And this piano arrangement from Joost, her AF bandmate (and frequent Ayreon collaborator) gives it an extra distinct touch.
Ronnie Radke/Falling in Reverse has a new song out called I'm Not a Vampire Revamped. It's like an even more emotional The Drug in Me Reimagined. Would love to see your reaction to it.
I haven't heard of these guys since I was at the bury the hatchet tour. Man I remember when Ronnie was the lead singer of escape the fate. Like before he got locked up lmaoo
I know Floor is the focus of this video and I can gush and gush about her singing. But I just want to advise any future viewers to also pay attention to the piano arrangement, because it's actually frickin' GORGEOUS.
This is Floor in her element. She is awesome and has a skill set that never stops. Thank you for your insights. I just adore when she powers up around 5:10. You could cover this.... Great song and cover! If you refer to impressive in the dictionary you find a picture of Floor. Which also applies to you. Her breath control is perfect.!! How about that movement at 11:57? Shivers.......... Goose bumps....... As always thank you!!!!
I wish she could sing like this with Nightwish - instead of occasionally belting out the "notes" that are there mostly for the "wow" effect. Never gonna happen, of course.
Listening & watching Floor sing effects me on levels no one ever has and levels I don’t know that I will ever understand. When I say awesome, I literally mean I am left full of awe. She is a magical performer in every way.
Watching you struggle with the pause no pause dilemma is hilarious. Yes this is a great song and cover. Obviously not live. Amazing none the less! Keep em coming.
How about checking out the Live version of After Forever's "Who I Am" with Irene Jansen, Its crazy hearing the sisters sing together, and the first recorded song they did together on an album is Northward's "Drifting Islands"

She doesn't kill it at all. She just sings it with the exact same phrasing as the original... So what! Floor is a really good professional singer but she can't phrase a song to save her life. Though certainly not just Floors fault it is one of the reasons the last two NW albums were medocre because she can't phrase original material as well as Trumun and Olson. Just a fact.
@@maxrav1831 I have to agree. She's obviously very talented, but this rendition adds nothing. In fact, it seems more like decisions were made to showcase what she can do vocally without asking the question does this fit the song. I found it difficult to listen to.
Hi Elizabeth Joost the piano player was in After Forever with Floor , he is also the piano player in Aeryon and is now helping Floor with her solo album. She had him in Storytime 4 she actually flew to meet him and that is the episode we found out she's a highly sensitive person. She has to be in Nature so she can be grounded. It makes her a empath so sometimes the energy goes with her to the hotel room. I think you should do Heart singing this Live from Seattle. Ann and Nancy have singles out and this is Nancy's first solo album and Ann is just releases some songs. Anneke has 3 singles from her new album coming out this month and Epica and Within Temptation have new singles out. The video is a little off. Carrie also sang with Ann and Nancy. Just ignore the video was out it was on mine. I justed remembered that you should do Heart in 2015 doing Alone .Ann was AWESOME. Floor uses her back alot to sing. 2015 was at the Hollywood Bowl. Ann was 65 in 2015 and the audience went nuts.

I love how you stop the video, explain these details, then go back so we can listen again with our new knowledge and appreciation. 😊 Love, love, love your reaction/analysis videos!! Of course the ultimate for a voice nerd like myself would be seeing you two having a conversation about vocal technique and such. P.S. love the sweater you're wearing, it is a lovely color on you.

Always nice seeing you experience the floorgasms, and to break her singing down so even vocal newbies like me can understand and more fully appreciate her amazingness! I wholehartedly recommend the villains medley from Peter Hollens, which he did together with Whitney Avalon. Her voice is just something else entirely, and I think you'll really like it. And like we say in the Netherlands "de aanhouder wint" (which translates to something like the one who persists will win), my standard recommendations: - Patty Gurdy, and especially her live version of her song "Run" at Lexington, or her one-take live version of Eurythmic's "Sweet Dreams". - Larkin Poe. Anything from their Tip o' the Hat cover series here on RUclips, or their original song "Bleach Blonde Bottle Blues", especially the live version from their porch pickin' stream, starting at @ @ Rebecca has the most amazing rock-bluesy voice, and her sister Megan is the Queen of slide guitar and does some amazing harmonies to Rebecca. Their live, stripped-down duo performances really showcase their amazingness.
Floor did some nice Cry fry too. I call it 'cry fry' when they add vocal fry at the beginning of words to sound like they're beginning to cry to add emotion to the word.
It’s amazing for me, maybe my top 5 of female voices are Floor Jansen, Ann Wilson, Lara Fabian, Tarja and Terri Nunn. Floor already covered two of them, singing on Nightwish, covered some of “Tarja’s” songs... all that remains is to cover Terri Nunn (from Berlin) 🤟
I really enjoy your relentless enthusiasm for the technicality of it all. I never realised you could break singing down to such a forensic detail ... a layman's joy ;-) Floor Jansen is mesmerising ... like you ... keep it up x
Floor is and has been a top-tier vocalist for many many years and it's great to see many people becoming more familiar with her amazing talent. Even before she joined Nightwish, she was killing it with her previous two bands: After Forever and Revamp. I highly recommend listening to this out-of-this-world performance of Dreamflight by After Forever from 2007 ruclips.net/video/73-_F9prx4I/видео.html. I believe it was Floor's first live performance ever on US soil.
Perfect reaction Elisabeth , when I heard Floor had made a cover of Alone I was very curious and in doubt about it . For all my life since I listen to music ( I am 57 now ) Ann Wilson is by far my favorite singer and she still is , but lately two ladysingers are chasing her and they do a good job , I have become realy a big fan of both , Beth Hart and Floor Jansen ! I am so proud Floor comes from The Netherlands witch is my homecountrey to , thank you for playing attention to her and explain so entertaining and understandable all about her voice , it's a real pleasure to listen to you 🎤 🎵 . My verdict over this cover , 50/50 , for the music I love the bombastic way and shredding guitars from Heart , so 50% goes to Heart , for singing Floor's abbility to sing with such emotions wins altough sligthly from Ann 💞 . Having said that overall Ann Wilson is still my number one singer but very , very closely followed by Floor and then Beth Hart , I have been to two concerts of her ( Beth ) here in The Netherlands , it was breathtaking I'll never forget !

Your smile describe everything❤
I have heard just about everything Floor has performed and though there are more dramatic performances I keep coming back to Qué Se Siente from Beste Zangers. Floor turns a Salsa song into a sexy metal song and completely blows away Rolf Sanchez. She said Spanish was difficult for her but you would never know it listening to her. As a vocalist you will see her go from a breathy sexi voice to a full on driving belting voice. She uses breath releases to accentuate lines and make then
sound provocative.
Check out Floor singing with Epica for Stabat mater dolorosa 😄😄😄
Always loved this song.
Please check out Floor singing “Dreamflight” with After Forever, her first band. Her vocals are on point there.
Love me some After Forever 😍
She sounds amazing i love her voice
Floor sung also Ave Maria, her last note lasts 20sec. Impressive. Its in latin and english.
I requested this to be played as well. Love it.
Great great reaction simply stunning voice always makes my eyes leak
15:25 Those two "alone’"s are chilling. I cried the first time, ... and every time since is still a coin toss.
💙💙💙 All Hail Floor 💙💙💙
I loved seeing the repeat Floorgasms. This is a very nice song and reaction video.
Floor is remarkable!!! One of my fav songs, and definitely my fav cover. Just incredible!
Ronnie Radke/Falling in Reverse has a new song out called I'm Not a Vampire Revamped. It's like an even more emotional The Drug in Me Reimagined. Would love to see your reaction to it.
Yes, so much this!
I haven't heard of these guys since I was at the bury the hatchet tour. Man I remember when Ronnie was the lead singer of escape the fate. Like before he got locked up lmaoo
A masterclass in vocalizing. Loved it
My two favorite girls -Floor and Elizabeth
I know Floor is the focus of this video and I can gush and gush about her singing. But I just want to advise any future viewers to also pay attention to the piano arrangement, because it's actually frickin' GORGEOUS.
Floor Jansen is simply the greatest allround singer ever..She can do everything, even growling. Love her
She is fantastic - certainly in my top 3. Hard to pick between her and Eivør
I love this song, I love Floor's cover of it, and I love your analysis of it! Keep up the good work!
Floor Jansen...one of our time's greatest singers.
Floor's former band, After Forever, also covered that song. They did a more of a Heavy Metal approach to it. Very cool!
Amazingly great video, thank you. Such putting out so much talent and knowledge.
Glad to see that she can still get a floorgasm out of you :)
There is a live version out there she does with Marco and Troy on guitars. Worth a look
You two are such a candy to my ears and eyes!
Greetings from Tampere, Finland🇫🇮!
How about checking out the Live version of After Forever's "Who I Am" with Irene Jansen, Its crazy hearing the sisters sing together, and the first recorded song they did together on an album is Northward's "Drifting Islands"
If only they would have had a capable sound technician... The 013 show ( ruclips.net/video/Nvz1QfVYhGM/видео.html ) is quite hard to listen to. And you must be a really, really committed fan to watch the P60 concert. Maybe you have a link to a better video?
Floor's voice is fantastic, great reaction, and you look good as always🌹
As been said, Floor has sang this many times over the years
It's one of her favorites
Your avaliation about Floor Jansen are amazing. The star. And You so beautiful.
After Forever Dreamflight from Progpower!!! Younger Floor in her American stage debut!
Always wonderful to spend some time with you Elizabeth! You have so much passion for great music. It is written on your face and in your beautiful smile. I love hearing your commentary on Floor's amazing vocal techniques. You nailed it. That was Joost. He is working with Floor to put together a sound for her solo project which is in process right now. Peace.💖😊🎶🎶🎶✌
Floor fever forever, Heart breaking ......
I agree she's so BLAH!
love this song and love floor singing this song she be so AWESOME FLOOR IS A GODDESS LIVING AMONG US MORTALS
and Elizabeth i cant leave you out your a goddess too of facial expressions
She kills this song! I love heart and she does this song such justice while adding her own twist to it. Can't wait for the video!
You would love Floor Jansen’s Beste zangers cover of Lady Gaga’s Shallow. It’s so good 😍
Wow Elizabeth, another great video! You catch so many little things that would just go unnoticed by someone like me who is not trained to see these little things. I love how you stop the video, explain these details, then go back so we can listen again with our new knowledge and appreciation. 😊 Love, love, love your reaction/analysis videos!! Nutella indeed ... Floor put SO much raw emotion into this song, so much longing. Just a wonderful cover by a very talented artist. By the way Elizabeth, I'm half German and have been to Germany many times to visit family and just never have gotten the whole Nutella thing. Maybe I'm eating it wrong. How do you ... Nutella? 😁
I love Floor’s cover of this.
React to Epica - Rivers. I’d love to see you react to more Simone Simons.
This is a fantastic birthday present, thank you!
OK, so now I want to listen to Elizabeth singing the "Nutella song" :) Any chance we can hear it?
I'm sure others have mentioned this but Floor has been doing a singing master class on her channel. She talks a lot about how and why her technique has developed over the years. Just as a classical singer myself, I would love to see you do a reaction to one of her master classes and add in your own knowledge. Of course the ultimate for a voice nerd like myself would be seeing you two having a conversation about vocal technique and such. P.S. love the sweater you're wearing, it is a lovely color on you.
WATCHIN YOU REACT IS AWESOME.
Elizabeth is such a nerd 😂😂. 2 beautiful women on screen at the same time is a great way to spend Monday night 🥰🥰
Always love the Floor vids!!!! 😁❤✌
Floor's cover on Adagio is a must watch, you should make a reaction on that for sure!!!!!
Oh, the shivers again :)
That woman will never cease to amaze me. I just can't imagine how fun a tea party with Floor Jansen will be. Thank you.
Also: Evergrey. Just pick one ;)
Would love to see your reaction to the version by Ann Wilson and Heart. She is the Queen of Classic Rock!
Thank you for thees wonderful reaction, and mostly the great explanations of the vocals and sounds.
In my opinion (I know we all have different kind of views on what we like, so "In my opinion") Floor Jansen is one of the best vocalists out there in the proffessional world.
I just love the way she acts on stage in live performances. She is a godess on stage that know how to get an audience "addicted" :)
And also YOU "The Charismatic Voice" (Elizabeth). I just love the interactioon you have with the video you are reacting to and us as an audience listening and watching you.
Keep up the good thing. I will be back for more of theese wonderful reactions you are doing of various artists :)
And like we say in the Netherlands "de aanhouder wint" (which translates to something like the one who persists will win), my standard recommendations:
- Patty Gurdy, and especially her live version of her song "Run" at Lexington, or her one-take live version of Eurythmic's "Sweet Dreams".
I never realised you could break singing down to such a forensic detail ... a layman's joy ;-)
Floor Jansen is mesmerising ... like you ... keep it up x
Speaking of Heart... YOU SHOULD DO A VIDEO ON A HEART SONG!!!!!!
Couldn't agree more. Their homage to Led Zeppelin's Stairway To Heaven was epic.
What a Beautiful Version
Elizabeth Don't forget to react to Floor Jansen Adagio 😉 :-)
Heart will always be my number 1 for this song. But Floor is Floor, and she is now my permanent number 2.
Yeah Ann will always be number 1. I think Floor is wonderful. I don’t love her take on this song though. It just isn’t doing it for me.
