Hi from sunny South Africa. Please could I ask that you can do a "reaction" on Roy Orbison - She's a Mystery to Me... Thank you for your RUclips show, really enjoying it:-)
Amazing song and lovely analysis, as per usual. Only thing i'm struggling with is believing that that is you. You say it is you and obviously I believe that. At the same time, my eyes and brain just refuse to accept that that is the same person. Even with considering a small age difference. Partial face blindness is a hell of a thing 😅
I would first like to say you have an amazing voice and I will be looking at more of your performances as I love expanding my horizons and I love opera and I would love to hear your reactions to Cecilia Bartoli one of my other favorite singers
NO! Look at her... obviously some kinda nepotism going on here. I'm so disappointed in CV. I thought she was of better character than this. Her niece is definitely talented though.
With abilities like this, she has the rite to critique other singers. Kind of nice she enjoys ALL types of good music. As we say around here, easy on the eyes too.
Elizabeth, after nailing a vocal run that 99.99% of people couldn't even attempt without physical injury: "I did a pretty good job." Yeah. Yeah, you did. And, Einstein was pretty good with numbers.
Actually, Einstein did not work well with numbers. His genius was imagining spatial geometry through thought experiments. He worked with mathematicians to help translate his ideas into equations. IMHO it goes to never discount anyone's potential.
Being from Belgium, I am no stranger to the Queen Elizabeth competition. I had no idea you had participated in this, and you even made it to the finals! For the people not familiar with this competition, or with classical music: this is a yearly competition, but not always for the same instrument. It alternates between voice, piano, violin and more recently also cello. It is open to the most promising classical musicians from all over the world. You can only compete once. Getting nominated is already great. Making it to the finals is only for exceptional talents. And to be honest, it is very subjective comparing these finalists. The jury sometimes prefers a candidate for an original interpretation, while other times they see the interpretation as a flaw. Competitors are isolated from the outside world during the competition, which takes weeks, while they have no idea how good the performances of the other competitors were. You only have one option: do your absolute best. This must have been absolutely nerve wrecking. I'm listening to your performance at the finals, now. Absolutely amazing. And hard to fathom that this is the same woman that is so open to voices like Jinjer/Devin/Floor ... You truly are one of a kind.
Thanks Peter, and you're right on all fronts. It was a nerve wracking experience, and extremely competitive. I always felt emotion was as important as technique, and so I bring that emotion into each note I sing. Some of the judges score higher marks on technique while omitting emotion from their evaluation. I made it to the finals, but I didn't win. No one in their right mind would do "Martern aller Arten" in this competition. I did. ;-)
@@TheCharismaticVoice , I always find the jury to be very conservative. I come from a family where classical music was very important, and the finals were always a subject in our conversations. Rarely did we all agree on the winner, let alone the top 3. I think with the vocal competition there is a bit more diversity in the repertoire. When the instrument is piano, you better brace yourself to listen to the same Rachmaninov concerto 6 times in the finals week. But it is definitely true. There is a set repertoire that is more likely to allow you to win the competition. A few years back there was a violin concerto chosen by one of the finalists that nobody ever did before. Commentators were really confused, not knowing to applaud the bold choice or to be very critical because the usual repertoire was a bit more technical after all. I was looking back at some articles. The week before the finals, you were mentioned as one of the 2 favourites. You must have made quite the impression :-) But in the end, you are absolutely right. The competition and the jury puts technicality over emotion, most of the time. However the audience -also at home- does not always agree with that. The audience of the Queen Elizabeth finals is a pretty reserved audience. It is not always that they give an applause like the one you have gotten. On the contrary. I hope you don't look back to the experience with too much bitterness or regret. Because your performance has certainly moved some people. Also, that polite applause by the Queen at the end, is about as enthusiastic as I have ever seen her.

What a wonderful (and informative) comment. And congratulations to you, Elizabeth, for this outstanding achievement. I guess we are now officially allowed to say to you : you rock !!
@@sendtoanthony Yes, yes, the hand of Moscow and all that...The KGB is not asleep, and I would not be surprised if somewhere,in a secret safe behind the fireplace, she keeps vodka, caviar and a balalaika..
So true, but let me precise a little bit by the supplement “best vocal reaction …”. If you like very helpful reaction videos, as I do, I clearly recommend also the “daily dough”. A classical composer reacts to a bunch of good stuff from another point of view. I would absolutely love to see a video with you both, Elizabeth and Dough, talking about compositional and vocal aspects. That’ll be my Christmas wish!
So let me get this straight.... You're one of the most 'heavy on musical theory' reactors on YT (delightfully so). You have that endearing quality of charming innocence crossed with nerdy enthusiasm (which is basically my drug of choice). You're stunningly beautiful! And now we're seeing you in this performance, an accomplished and renowned soprano, who not only sings like an angel, but can credibly act (one can _feel_ how ticked off your Konstanze is). You can sing in another language with a pronunciation and accent that can fool the ear of a native. And now you sit here ten years hence, wearing the same dress! So what, are you a brain surgeon and a particle physicist in your spare time? I'm in awe.... Brava!
When she speaks Deutsche, I'm mesmerized, she is so enticing, even sexy. Who do you know can do that in German? Make the word for "death -- Tod," sound hawt? Yes, H O T. Elizabeth is my crush, such a crush, OF COURSE she can do brain surgery also, and cook a perfect souffléI am certain.
I know this is old now, but it popped up on my feed so here I am. I will fully admit its not my thing, but you know what? Elizabeth has embraced our music, I figure the absolute least we should do is give hers a try as well. It's also very clear she is insanely talented, regardless of whether its something I'm into or not. Thank you so much for everything you do!
@@TheCharismaticVoice You come across as very critical of yourself, so I'm very curious! I've heard you sing and I think it's awesome, can't wait to hear what you have to say! I used to be a fairly good singer when I was a LOT younger, and no matter how well a performance went or how much praise I got, I ALWAYS found faults in it lol. Im kind of betting you're the same, regardless the fact you are loads better than I ever was! Cant wait!
@@johnmullens2857 I think that is the same for any "profession" one has. I have no talent in music other than listening, but I am a martial artist for some 15 years now and before covid was in quite good shape. Others told me, that in competition or just technique I am really good and did well in cmopetition fights and so on. But I still find things in everything where I am not 100% satisfied with myself. Noone will see these things but I know them and feel them. I think it is part of the way to become really good at what you do even if it means you will never get the 100%.
@@RobMedellin So I hear you have an opera for me? Yes, ma'am I do. It's going to be tough to get through all those notes at the end. Actually for her it was super easy, barely an inconvenience.
What makes you a champ is you can compliment your own ability without being arrogant. Not only that, but reviewing yourself is in and of itself a tough thing to do. We are our own worst critics. As a drummer I hate, but need to see myself playing to make adjustments for the shows. You are truly a remarkable person and the upmost professional musician. ❤
It comes with being a , musician! As a Singer and multi-instrmentalist including all percussion, live we only got one shot to get it PERFECT! If you get a messed up Big Mac, you can always go up to the counter and get another! There are no ''redo's” in music! It's a one shot deal! That's why we practice incessantly! The average is 3-10 hours or more for every one minute of performance!
I always thought that she must b an average opera singer at best, mostly because she never talks about what she does or sings while doing her reactions. I like her a lot and to see her singing so spectacularly awesome is such an amazing surprise. She's so humble and down to earth I never thought she'd be this good. Absolute world class!! And then the way is able to praise herself without shame.... Such a fine fine line...she's amazing
My thoughts exactly! I listen quite a lot of classical singing. I also do little singing myself (but I don't just have time or rational place to practice solo singing). Here every note (I mean, seriously, every note) is clear, strong, in control etc. Low register sounds great. High register sounds great. Some German pointed that the pronunciation is perfect. I actually watched the original video, not this reaction.
WOW! I come here as an amused metal head watching you appreciate the art. But having a chance to see you in action….just wow! I knew you were a professional by how you discuss singing techniques but I had no idea how amazing you are at killing it in the opera! Well done!
The sheer power of her voice is unbeleviable :) If there was ever a truer "Master Exploder" She owns JB (even if it was in a movie) :) ruclips.net/video/VB7lYoVbiHM/видео.html
Holy heck right?! Her reactions are always so legit and insightful and real. I’ve always been impressed by her technical knowledge of singing but ….mind blown! As a fellow metal head…watching out of pure curiosity as well…Elizabeth not only walks the talk, she struts the talk in heels! Girl, I’ve been a fan of your channel for a long time but this just levels up everything including my appreciation and respect for your musical opinions! Thank you!
Another metalhead here, who also came for the amusement but now I'm suitably impressed. Blimey Elizabeth. Not only are you gorgeous, but you have an amazing voice too. Bravo indeed. Wow! I think we all just gave you a standing ovation after that. Well done.
I know, I'm very late to this video, but I'm also amazed at the projection that many opera singers achieve. I am friends with Roberta Alexander, an incredible soprano, and the power she has is otherworldly. Elizabeth, you possess that same power. As I've told Roberta before, if you were a siren calling me to my doom, I'd go willingly and happily!
Didn't pay attention the 1st time through then saw this comment & went back for a rerun & it's almost like she was conducting the orchestra with those brows...like they were dictating the story & not just the orchestra but the rest of her was just keeping pace with wherever they lead (even before she started singing...while telling the conductor "let's do this" at the start). Very fierce them brows.
I stumbled across this performance last night. That was borderline punk rock. The energy, emotion, execution, and swag are what most performers imagine they will do but often miss. I wanted to roar when they showed the sweat. Watching someone work super hard and execute with excellence, without apologizing for getting dirty is a truly beautiful thing ❤.
@@davevandebunte2949 I snortled so hard when I read your comment that my tea came out my nose. But you're totally right. Mozart would have been the biggest emo-punk rocker
There are SHIT TONS of "vocal coach" personnas on youtube. MANY are great, talented, and informative. SOME are rank amateurs with good common sense advice, and there are also MANY that don't know what they're talking about and can't sing. Well, You can't say ANYTHING LIKE THAT about Mrs. Zharoff. I've seen her sing in varous situations, and she's never short of fantastic, and her analasys and reactions are top notch. She catches stuff other coaches don't even know to listen for. GRADE A start to finish. Best personality too. 15/10
I thought I couldn't love her any more than I did before. But watching her celebrate herself was BEAUTIFUL! Yes, her singing is incredible, there is no doubt. But to be able to celebrate yourself and not come off as cocky or pompous.... Liz is a gift to the world.
She knows she's a badass and people who know singing and art know she's a badass. She doesn't have to, nor could she ever, convince pop culture fans what peak performance is.
Ok, how many people fell in love with Elizabeth after 4 minutes and 15 seconds of this video. What a wondrous voice... such power, emotion, control, and beautiful timbre.... Phenomenal performance Elizabeth!
Man I feel dumb. I live in Belgium so my wife and I follow the Queen Elizabeth competition each year if we have the time. I never knew you were a finalist and this really puts in perspective your skill level and that you are not just another vocal coach. I googled the news articles from back then (in Dutch) and it's fun to read the reviews and what the judges had to say about the performances :-).
@@TheCharismaticVoice I'm sorry if I got your hopes up. I misinterpreted the article and thought they were from judges. It were actually sopranos analysing your performance. I should have known better. I will do my best to translate with my limited skillset. Jard van Nes states:" Zharoff is an incredible talent and I hope she will take the time to further grow. Her voice is rather monochromatic (literal translation) and her German has to improve." Ilse Eerens states:" I saw a young soprano battling herself in the performance but at the end, she still stands. Furthermore, she had a very good connection with the orchestra, something we haven't always seen with the other contestants the past few days. And then the article goes own with you telling you felt tired and sweaty.
That's so funny, that she comments on the fatigue and perspiration in this video 10 years later, and those were also her comments immediately following her performance... She must have been REALLY tired and REALLY sweaty... lol
@@Drew_pew_pew_pew German has to improve... I don't know... I'm sorry, I'm German and I have an ear for language(s). Of course, you hear at some points, that it is sung with an accent, even you don't understand anything anyway. In opera singing - you don't even understand the lyrics at all, aren't you? So - what's the point? :)
One of the most amazing parts of this (which, *all of it* is amazing!) is that there is no microphone! Wow, you are an incredible talent. Kudos, Elizabeth!
Goosebumps! Elizabeth has been killing it. She belongs to the top. I don't remember hearing an aria like this, and I did hear and experience a few operas including Mozart (Magic Flute), Wagner (e.g. The Valkyrie. etc.) for example. I'm loving it, and you won my heart. Without your clear comment, I wouldn't have found anything less than absolutely thrilling and brilliant. PS: You also look stunning. I love your hair.
Wow Elizabeth - not only was that one of the most difficult female arias in opera in a way of singing - it is also in german. And German is really tough to learn. But not only that - it is german from the 18th century. That is nuts for somebody who isn't a native speaker. Greetings from Berlin, Germany
While I agree that German is hard, he is 18th century German harder? Yes it’s not as easy to understand because people spoke different, I’m not sure how that changes when it comes to singing. Kind regards from Hamburg(-ish), Germany Also I think she did very well.
Wow, Elizabeth Zharoff I knew you were an opera singer, but I am blown away by how mesmerizing and complex your voice is. Your voice is exquisite. I think I would probably get three words in before I got stumped. It is amazing how loud and how hard one must sing but making it sound beautiful at the same time. Those runs are incredible.
Hello Elizabeth. I actually watched you sing that live during the Queen Elizabeth (I live in Belgium) and I loved your performance. I'd love to see you react to your own Pamina. Please do it!
You are fortunate to have seen her perform live. I hope to see it someday myself now that I have had a chance to hear Elizabeth sing on RUclips and am aware of the talent she has! This is coming from a metalhead who has zero knowledge about classical music!!!
This is one of the reasons why I like Elizabeth's channel so much. There are so many "vocal coaches" on the net that I never know which one is genuine and has the experience to really analyze other world class singers and which one does not. That beautiful blond darling here not only KNOWS what she is talking about, she also has the credentials to prove it. Bloody phantastic!
6:32 Look at you pulling the energy up through the floorboards! 16:44 the part that amazes me, although the pitch is good is that sustained crescendo has so much build and power! Fun fact: the orchestra members are also breathing through the phrases, while not nearly as exhausting as singing, it is not easy and getting all of the notes right to support the singer and emphasize the vocal line is practiced over and over until we can do it faster than we think we can, too. Don't we all wish we had the energy we had when we were 24?
Elizabeth 10 years ago: looks beautiful and stunning, sings incredibly well. Elizabeth now: looks even more beautiful and stunning, probably sings just as well and gives us wonderful RUclips content and critiques.
When you realize The Charismatic Voice is very respectful and polite with her reaction videos, because let's be honest: nothing she has reacted to comes close to what Elizabeth can do with her voice. Beyond jaw dropping!
That's a close minded statement, She is great but saying "nothing she's reacted to comes close" is very immature and very opinionated. It's Just like me saying that Freddie Mercury is the greatest singer of all time which I believe he is, However it is only true to me not everyone else, Everything is objective, There is no best of anything only what is best to you. And yes I know this is 8 months old lol.
@@Shane7492 no. Your comment was immature and opinionated. Elizabeth has reacted to great and accomplished virtuosos. Just because she is not the ABSOLUTE best that has ever been on the channel, doesn't mean she is not amazing. In the comments it's clear that everyone is in awe with her talent and very few choose to diminish others' accomplishments like you did. She is fantastic and I would listen to her for many productions undoubtedly, but Damrau and Pavarotti for example have dedicated their entire lives to the productions they put out and it's simply not fair to compare their career paths.
@@PedroRicardoVP no. Your reply was immature and opinionated. I was complimenting Elizabeth, and instead of seeing the positive in that statement, people like you choose to focus on what came across as a criticism of others and see it in a negative light. As you said, it's my OPINION. If you disagree, then we can just agree to disagree, but it looks bad on you to downplay my compliment toward Elizabeth being respectful and humble all the time.
I love how young Elizabeth portrays Constanze‘s feelings with her body and face and is incredibly immersed in what she‘s singing (in a foreign language, mind you) - a true performer! 👏🏻 And I adore how you explain your feelings and the technicalities of your singing and performance, a glimpse into how opera singing works. Also, I feel your restraint in watching and listening without singing along - one can tell that you‘re feeling every single note! ❤
DAMN! as a professional opera singer i figured she must be very good, but i was not expecting THAT! ignoring the technical ability and dedication it must take to be able to sing like that, the passion, emotion and 100% commitment to the role, just leaving it all on the stage, totally blew me away! WOW! truely amazing, it has opened my eyes to a new world.
I had to laugh every time she said, "This part is hard." If you'd asked me, I wouldn't have said it was hard. I would have said it was impossible. This was an exquisite performance -- beautiful, stirring, powerful. I love it!
Such a great voice, my mother was an opera singer and we were raised on the NY Met and Opera when we cleaned the house. Since I was raised in an house without AC in the south, we had open windows and fans and the neighborhood knew when we were cleaning the house or my mother was warming up. She always did scales in the shower and was a Soprano and did not need microphones to be heard. She started singing professionally at 5 until her late 50's, and was always sought out to sing for various churches in the South Florida area.
Normally I only say this in sports events, but... I was there. First time I was at a QE contest, first time to hear opera live, I was blown away A new world opened for me Thank you Ms Zharoff
My wife and I were speechless thru the entire video...then I mumbled something that my wife said sounded a bit like "Holy Shit"... Then we watched it again in silence. That's some beautiful charismatic voice you got there. Not sure why we were surprised, your speaking voice gives you away.
My brother has been an Opera Quarterly critic for years and he has this to say, " this soprano is wonderful. Her technic is rock-solid, her coloratura flawless, and she is quite expressive, too. What an artist! Thanks for sending it to me. Elizabeth Zharoff seems under-represented, to say the least of it, on Amazon and even too little present on RUclips. Anyhow, she is a truly great artist.’ My add, "you are breathlessly passionate in your love of music. Thank you for posting, now I can listen even more!’
That is such a great reaction. I don't know enough about opera (though I do listen to it occasionally) to write a critique like that, I definitely enjoyed her performance and liked her voice a lot. She *should* have CDs out, even if they're not strictly opera. Think of all the great classical crossover artists like Sarah Brightman that have a great appeal to the masses with adaptations of well known arias and more classical interpretations of great pop melodies! You can also easily put more symphonic rock behind that voice, like on Sarah's track "Fleurs du Mal", or even stuff like Nightwish or Within Temptation. I'd buy that CD in a heartbeat. Heck, as a songwriter, I'd love to collaborate on it *with* her! hehe
Wow! I’ve been enjoying your channel and often wondered what you sound like as a singer not knowing what genre you would sing...I’m floored. You were fierce in this aria and I’m so impressed with your performance of this incredibly difficult piece. You should be proud and I have no doubt you have gained more credibility with your subscribers and no doubt have more fans. I so appreciate your incredible skill as a singer and knowledge and thank you for having the courage to react to your younger self...I couldn’t do that. I’m a huge fan of yours...just wow!
as a German I'm really impressed by your pronounciation. And this "spitting out" at the end of "zuletzt befreit mich doch der Tod" is totally in line with the german pronounciation. We tend to pronounce soft consonants hard at the end of a word, so "Tod" is rather pronouned "Toht".
This is the best example of "talking" meeting "walking" that I've seen in recent history, if ever. Oft it is one or the other but you, Elizabeth, put the "and" between them. And clearly, you do them with authority. You absolutely deserve to be a role model for many aspiring vocalists, regardless the genre. Thank you for your talent, your knowledge, your analysis, your articulation, your whit and your humility. Most of all, thank you for sharing.
Watching her face as she listens to herself is absolutely enthralling: she's a little self-conscious because she's on camera (but, being a pro, not overly so), she's actively listening (and critiquing) as a highly-trained musician, and she's bemused by the notion that other listeners are vicariously (voyeuristically?) joining her in this. This is a powerhouse, bravura performance in every respect.
Amazing performance of one of my favorite Mozart arias!!! As a composer, I've always loved Mozart's use of four instrumental soloists in the orchestra, paired off in various ways, reacting to the soprano (especially since one is a cello, my primary instrument!!).
I am a first soprano. When in high school we sang songs like O Fortuna (nothing like this song!) but I completely appreciate your performance. I would literally shake if singing a song remotely like this! The comments about fuller lower notes, spitting, pronunciation…so familiar! The adrenalin rush must have been amazing. Bravo, Elizabeth!
"O Fortuna" should have endeared you to Elizabeth; She loves the "Carmina Burana". Guess this reaction was made some time after the premiere of this video. It likely impossible to keep up with all the comments seeing all the videos she is making
** standing and clapping** dude...in my circles, the highest compliment we give is: that is punk rock!!! So, from the bottom of my heart, you ARE Punk Rock....hats off!!!! True, legit artistery....
As a soprano who dreams to be capable of singing Der Hölle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen I watched this with my jaw on the floor. It was also perceivable how nervous (rightfully so!) you were from the beginning because your pitch was higher than usual when speaking. You did a fantastic job, congratulations!
@@TheCharismaticVoice Not sure how to get this to you outside of this but I came across this today and this would, in my opinion, make a great reaction video. This is a younger Floor, ruclips.net/video/uzW1jDAt69Q/видео.html

There are no words, I've been a die hard metal head most of my life, with kind respect to other genre's. Elizabeth, what Floor Jansen's voice does to everyone, I now have another artist's name to add to my list, yours. Outstanding performance and thank you for having the courage to both share and critique yourself. I applaud you. Bravo 👏
Wow, what an awesome performance. 😍. And as a german, I can say your pronunciation is really good. You‘re not only a fantastic singer, but also a positive and a open minded person with a lot of humor. Your channel is so much fun to watch. ❤️
This was amazing. There is a saying "those who can do - do, those who cannot do - teach". But this video is the proof that you really can do it, and you do it it with such grace and mastery!
I have never listened to or appreciated opera in any way, shape or form .. until now .. hearing you break down the story, along with the technicalities of what you're performing, gives me a new insight into this art form and I found myself really enjoying your performance. So thank you for broadening my world!! :)
I also never listened to opera, other than tenors, and I have really enjoyed getting her technical perspectives. They tell me I have perfect pitch, but I have next to no control over my singing voice, so I KNOW that I suk bigtime and it amazes me anytime someone can sit and listen to their own performance without cringing, but with a voice like hers---who wouldn't be happy? Have you seen her ( Diana Damrau "Queen of the Night" from The Magic Flute ANALYSIS by Opera Singer )?: ruclips.net/video/QIEYFpEzTB0/видео.html
I know this video is a year old. But I've only recently (in the last few months) found this channel and have been mesmerized by all of your awesome analysis and technical break downs of all my favourite childhood metal songs. It's clear from listening to you talk about how people sing (or even scream) that you know what you're on about and can certainly talk the talk, and I assumed you'd be a good singer yourself. But watching this, my my can you walk the walk too! Absolutely insane skills, and very humble about it too "I think I did OK" understatement! Even more respect on top of the plenty I already had for you!
Mr. Taylor, like you, I only recently came across this channel, and I'm in full agreement with you on every point. Ms. Zharoff's humility comes across in her analyses of other singers as well, focusing the discussion on _their_ abilities and accomplishments. Funny thing about "how people sing or even scream": I remember Renée Fleming once described operatic singing as "a kind of controlled screaming."
Ok.. 24 and THAT fullbodied voice?? Damn girl..... and I see the dramatic coleratura ;) Do you have more of you performing? I would LOVE to hear both the Flower Duet AND Queen of the night ;) (gonna look through your channel properly)
I love the fact Elizabeth has the same facial reactions to classical as she does to heavy metal. But in truth it is appropriate as operatic singing is definitely as intense and focused as heavy metal.
Sorry it took me so long to view this video. Magnificent performance. Being brought up listening to opera, my mother was a coloratura soprano, I wish she was alive to hear this. She would have thoroughly enjoyed. You should be so proud of how beautifully you sang. Makes me love you and your channel even more.
I love this, Elizabeth has such an astonishing talent and yet remains so grounded and down to earth when reacting to her own performance. She brightens even the most dull days, and I think that's her biggest superpower.
I'm late to the party, but I just want to say, I love watching you in this reaction. I can see your body and head movements are 100% reenacting your performance on stage without actually singing. As a cellist, I do this every time I hear a piece I've performed before. You aren't just listening, you're FEELING it again and that's the part I miss most about performing live.
I live in Belgium and the Queen Elizabeth Competition gets a fair amount of main stream attention over here. You can follow the competition live on national television over here. I remember this being the first time hearing this aria (I was 26 at the time) ... and being very impressed. I never really was a big fan of Mozart before (I'm more into Russian classical composers - Rachmaninov being my go to :p), but your performance of "Martern aller Arten" made me go check his operas and learn more about them. Die Zauberflöte is now one of my favorites. Metal is what brought me here during the lockdowns - namely your reaction videos to Jinjer. I didn't realize you were this talented young singer that turned me on to Mozart so long ago until a couple of days ago when I learned you real name because the YT algoritme stuck a reaction video from another channel on my feed to your performance of "Marten aller Arten". So absolute thanks for sparking that Mozart interest for me back then. :) PS: I usually follow the Queen Elizabeth competition for piano more intently then the violin or singing editions, but in 2011 all of the country was following it because we finally had a compatriot, Thomas Blondelle, with a chance of winning (he eventually got second place). I would love to see you do a reaction video to one of his performances. :)
This was actually really really interesting! Usually I have a really hard time listening to opera because I don't know consume it properly, having you explain everything really helps! Also, damn you have some skills! And also also, you always look stunning in your videos😁
From one singer to another, I have to say that this level of talent is mind-blowing. I'm not well-versed in opera, but I can tell that you put everything you had into that performance...and it shows! Wonderful job!
Elizabeth, after watching many of your reaction videos, this is the first time I’ve heard you sing. It was so good, I shed tears. Amazing, young lady! Wow!
This is the best Reaction video that has EVER been done. How can anything top this? Being totally clear about what’s going on in your mind, and being able to tell us the inside story of an absolutely amazing performance from over a decade ago, is almost as impressive as the performance itself. It can’t happen anywhere else. I feel like there is so much more to say, but right now I’m speechless.
A composer never uses too many notes, or to few. A composer always uses the precise number of notes he intends! Elisabeth, I know I'm very, very late with this comment, but I was so thrilled to find this. Your personality shone through in this performance, and I love it!
You should be dang proud!! I am astonished at your performance and at 24!! The already obvious maturity of both the voice as it is getting richer, and of the characterization is top notch! I don't think there is anyone who can get a live performance to be "perfect" ( whatever that is) but this was truly a wonderful and impressive performance. There is some folklore that Mozart wrote the Queen of the Night aria for a soprano he did not like. Did he write this aria for the same soprano with the same attitude? It is just a beast ( as you said). It is hard enough to sing high consistently with the agility required for the runs but then to have to switch registration down to the bottom of a soprano's range and then immediately have to go back up the the highest parts of the range is so incredibly difficult!! Brava, brava!!!
Elizabeth. I don't know how I have missed this in the time that I have been watching your videos, but I am thrilled to have found it now. You have an amazing instrument. Opera is not my choice often, but I do appreciate the talent and art of it when done well. This is remarkable. Just as an aside, you have not aged a bit, and you look as beautiful as you sound. What a gift you have and what a gift to all of us. Brava!

I've got Michael Zharoff on my friends list currently on Facebook; used to play Magic the Gathering with him from time to time, no innuendos.
That Zharoff girl is amazing. You should react more to her. Give her more exposure.
Totally agree haha
NO! Look at her... obviously some kinda nepotism going on here. I'm so disappointed in CV. I thought she was of better character than this.
Her niece is definitely talented though.
Agreed - she seems really nice too! You must be very proud of your "daughter".
That's exactly what I came here to say! This girl's quite good - give her 10 years and she could end up with her own RUclips channel!
I wonder if she could get an interview with her. Would be an interesting conversation.
After I saw this performance, I realized how incredibly humble you are
With abilities like this, she has the rite to critique other singers. Kind of nice she enjoys ALL types of good music. As we say around here, easy on the eyes too.
for real...
All day.
That took guts.
Elizabeth, after nailing a vocal run that 99.99% of people couldn't even attempt without physical injury: "I did a pretty good job." Yeah. Yeah, you did. And, Einstein was pretty good with numbers.
I loved when she says that. Im like Damn GIRL, they were amazing!!!
That's funny
And Tesla was just decent at frequencies lol
Ironically numbers weren’t really Einstein’s specialty
Actually, Einstein did not work well with numbers. His genius was imagining spatial geometry through thought experiments. He worked with mathematicians to help translate his ideas into equations. IMHO it goes to never discount anyone's potential.
"Overall, I did a pretty good job." Understatement of the year, ma'am. That was an AMAZING job.
Most of the real super stars are always forever humbled. Makes her that much special
You must have made quite the impression :-)
But in the end, you are absolutely right.
Too many notes! Well sire which notes would you have me remove. Loved Tom Hulce. Must watch the film again

I think she was partially thinking about the fact his beat saber doesn't light up and looks a bit thin.
I always assumed she was just a vocal coach that could sing opera; now I find out she is a mind-blowing amazing singer! Best music reactor on RUclips
Absolutely!!!😳🔥
Right you are, Strong the Force with this one is!!
@@herrNielsson It’s “The Daily Doug” not Dough and I agree it is also a very good channel 👍🏻👍🏻
You say it like opera singers are not amazing singers 😅
If she wasn't so sweet and delightful it would be patiently unfair.
It's like having a daily chat with the sweet-spoken Bruce Banner and then one day seeing The Hulk on a stage 😁👀
THIS.
Funny, & understandable!
Indeed!
That part.

Heck, as a songwriter, I'd love to collaborate on it *with* her! hehe

A lot of Germans mis-spell "Tod" ("death") as "Tot" because of that. It doesn't help that the adjective "tot" ("dead") is actually spelled with a "t".
Splendid performance. Dynamic range, breath control, dynamics, flawless intonation, arch precise enunciation, phrasing, believability and emotional content... it is all there.
"Costanza is an amazing character" says Elizabeth, who is a truly amazing character!
YES!!
Stunning performance. I hit that high note once... when I dropped a hammer on my toe :-D
Elizabeth starting this video out with “I’m going to go balls to wall” hooked me 😂
She certainly did go balls to the wall!
Now she should react to Accept's Balls to The Wall!!
"This aria is a beast!"
Well, so are you! that was great!
Beauty *and* the Beast, then ;)
@@riinak7212 all rolled into one! :)
I also loved the way she was 1/2 mouthing the words along with herself. You can plainly see the joy of it all.
Kudos for the performance and double kudos for having the guts to analyze a past performance publicly. I can understand the wine. I really can. :)
Amazing performance of one of my favorite Mozart arias!!! As a composer, I've always loved Mozart's use of four instrumental soloists in the orchestra, paired off in various ways, reacting to the soprano (especially since one is a cello, my primary instrument!!).
That was super enjoyable. Now we need to have a 'Floor reacts' video of this.
Oh yes..that woulkd be the most awesome !!!
Oh, look, a game of Round Robin, shall we? :)
Heh Floor was delivered to the psych ward after unsuccessfully trying to pick up her jaw for several weeks ;D
Apart from the great voice, your facial animations are always a joy to watch, you can just see so much life flash across it all of the time.
"If the spit isn't flying, something is wrong."
E Zharoff
best quote ever *grins* ty for posting this!
Elizabeth, did you also see the comments on your video? The nightwish army showed up in massive support
I did! I've responded to some of them. ;-)
@@TheCharismaticVoice Not sure how to get this to you outside of this but I came across this today and this would, in my opinion, make a great reaction video. This is a younger Floor, ruclips.net/video/uzW1jDAt69Q/видео.html
A success opera singer in the past era, and now react and give vocal analysis to almost all famous metal band in the world for education... you're so kind and humble to feel experience other dimensions of music
Du hast ja so Recht Andreas. Grüße aus Ettlingen.
From looking like you want to run to absolutely killing it in five seconds. THAT is a stage animal.
The ability, honesty, and humility to react to your own performance speaks volumes. Amazing!
Ok.. 24 and THAT fullbodied voice?? Damn girl..... and I see the dramatic coleratura ;) Do you have more of you performing? I would LOVE to hear both the Flower Duet AND Queen of the night ;) (gonna look through your channel properly)
I know enough to know this is a serious competition and, this lady deserves two glasses of wine for doing this video.
I love the fact Elizabeth has the same facial reactions to classical as she does to heavy metal. But in truth it is appropriate as operatic singing is definitely as intense and focused as heavy metal.
I always compare her facial expressions to a Disney Princess… she has that look
@@732Runner Well, I wonder what they would have used as reference for drawing singing disney princesses. I'd say disney princesses have her look :P
That was really good to see indeed.
Elizabeth I admire your bravery and your honesty. I can't imagine many people doing what you did. but I love it.
Again, my dear Elizabeth. I’m not an “opera” fan, but that voice of yours can definitely reach the heavens! WOW! 💋😍💕
I love this, Elizabeth has such an astonishing talent and yet remains so grounded and down to earth when reacting to her own performance. She brightens even the most dull days, and I think that's her biggest superpower.
I think this singer is one among the best ones you've ever reacted to!😊
I'm late to the party, but I just want to say, I love watching you in this reaction.
PS: I usually follow the Queen Elizabeth competition for piano more intently then the violin or singing editions, but in 2011 all of the country was following it because we finally had a compatriot, Thomas Blondelle, with a chance of winning (he eventually got second place). I would love to see you do a reaction video to one of his performances. :)
You, singing in German (im german)... Hachja.... my heart is happy...
And your facial expressions are pure gold ^^
This was actually really really interesting! Usually I have a really hard time listening to opera because I don't know consume it properly, having you explain everything really helps! Also, damn you have some skills! And also also, you always look stunning in your videos😁
Oh my goodness… that VOICE!!!!! I love Opera….thank you for posting this! And YES - those runs were ridiculous!!!!! Soooo fabulous!!!!
"that part is hard guys" understatement of the century?
is there anything that isn't hard about opera?
Brava!
Es verdad!🙂👍
