People don't seem to understand that, for 30 years, this man everytime he was in public, put on the persona and kept the character the entire time. The commitment to his craft is insane. He really was the dead man for 3 decades. I'm not surprised he wants to talk as much as possible.
I’m really glad that Taker has decided to open up and share his knowledge with us. I see a lot of “my childhood is ruined” posts and I think that’s really unfair to say about someone who evolved not only his character, but the way he feels about us as adults who watched when we were kids and now feels comfortable enough with us to share personal details of his life and thoughts and feelings.
Learning that the undertaker is actually a human being can't ruin your childhood because your still a child if it does ruin your childhood. Santa isn't real either.
An absolute legend. Taker is the greatest ever. Every incarnation of the dead man was a character all on its own, not to mention his in ring ability and what we know about his character behind the scenes. Taker deserves every single positive comment that he gets.
My favourite WWE guy of all time. I watched him for the first time in 1992 (in Ireland back then we had zero American TV/Sports broadcast except for the SuperBowl) as a 10 year old. Instantly thought he was incredible. I followed his career, and now in retirement - the dude is just brilliant to listen to. A joy to watch this. Thank you so so much.
You can tell The Undertaker is at peace with his decision to retire his legendary character. He's also cool af for sharing the inside scoop around his character throughout his career.
I absolutely LOVE getting to see Undertaker like this after all the years that I only knew him as his character. I'll never forget seeing his debut. Now, I'm about to be 41 years old and I get to see my childhood hero in a way I never thought I would. This is amazing!
Just met him in Cherry Hill NJ about a week and a half ago. His flight was delayed and I think that is the appearance he mentioned in this interview. I think he ended up staying way past midnight to finish up taking photos and autographs with everyone that was suppose to get one. I've been other celebrities call it a night and leave people in the dust. Really speaks to his character and he really is a stand up guy.
Your comment just brought back a really great memory of mine. Way back in the day when Big Show was one of the top performers in the WWE during the attitude era, he was temporarily sent down to the minor leagues to work on some weight issues (I think). He was with a promotion called 'Ohio Valley Wrestling' and they would often do shows in very small towns across that region. I remember getting to see Big Show in the main event in a tiny, old, high school gymnasium in a very small town in southern Indiana, and it was one of the most fun wrestling events I've ever been to! He had every right to be phoning it in, but he was a true professional and performed 100% that night. It was amazing. Afterwords, they had a table setup for him to meet the fans and sign autographs and the guy sat there for probably at least an hour chatting with, and signing autographs, for everyone who was there. My respect for him shot up through the roof and he instantly became one of my favorite wrestlers after that.
I love how from the beginning of takers career till he retired he never really talked nor did interviews, now he’s doing all these interviews and being an amazing human being that he’s been outside the character

Honestly it would be flat out stupid for WWE not to open some aspect of their developmental program near Mark. I’m not saying they have to relocate the Performance Center but having a facility in Texas they can send people to work intensively with Taker would pay for itself in terms of their ability to prepare new stars. There genuinely may be nobody better in the world to learn from when it comes to how to make the most of a career.
Not surprised he had no heat with Punk as that was more latter being upset at not getting the main event but Taker is good value when you ask him questions that are not the usual (such as ending the streak at Mania etc)
It's always nice to see his interview. My favorite tag team is Undertaker & Kane and then the outsiders Hall & Nash. I remember Undertaker said that before once, some people have no clue about the business spreading some rumors etc. Well, in social media some people are like that. It's nice to hear about the relationship he has with Brock Lesnar.

Undertaker was always one of my favorite wrestlers, but Mark Calaway is, by far, my favorite retired-wrestler. It just goes to show how great his kayfabe always was with Undertaker. I would have never expected him to be one of the nicest people to come out of the business, and I hope that this comment isn't taken the wrong way. I watch lots of wrestling videos and interviews with former wrestlers, and Mark's videos are always the first I click on because I always want to know what is on his mind and I love listening to him talk about the business. He just knows so much and he, very rarely, has anything bad to say about anyone else that he worked with during his career.

The boneyard match was great and cinematic matches in general, but keep it infrequent. Also the decision for Taker to "return" in his American Badass - Big Evil persona was awesome!
One of my best memories is from an Undertaker match. The PPV called "Fully Loaded" came here to Dallas in either 1999 or 2000 (sorry, I'm old) and my buddy was working for the local radio station (97.1 KEGL if you're from Dallas). When we got to the arena with our mediocre lower deck tickets, my buddy calls me and tells me to meet him at a certain gate. When I get there, he hands me two floor seat tickets that the station hadn't managed to give away yet and he'd snatched them for me and my other friend. We all set right by the walkout ramp. During 'Taker's match with Kurt Angle, he literally threw Angle right into our row. I went back and watched the show on WWE network and we even got on camera for a split second, which is always nice. And all of this was my first time seeing a live WWE(F) show back then. So much fun.
That was Fully Loaded 2000. Fully Loaded 99 was Undertaker vs Austin First Blood Match for the WWF Title, it was absolutely fantastic. I always go back and watch the promo for that. Cool story too. I can imagine how damn amazing it must feel to be that close to the ring.
Quite unbelievable considering he's been up and down roads and all around the ring taking bumps longer than I been alive and I'm in my mid 30s lol it's amazing
And not only is he one of the only guys left from that era, he's probably one of the only ones who still has his wits about him and didn't destroy his brain with bumps or drugs.
Only Hogan and the Rock transcended wrestling into the mainstream culture to where they were literal household names to people who never even watched wrestling. Taker is big in the wrestling world but he never transcended the mainstream overall culture in the way Hogan and the Rock did. Hogan was literally one of the most famous people in America in the 1980s.
in 1992 I saw my 1st wrestling match on tv (I was 12) and it was of Undertaker, I was genuinely scared of him and always respected him so much for his in-ring performances. Specially the 2 matches with Shawn Michaels in WrestleMania!
I knew that WWE would have this kind of policy with Taker. The man has worked hard enough and made enough money so that he doesn't need to be on any kind of schedule, but when he goes to WWE, they open any and all doors for him. There is not an aspect of the business he isn't knowledgeable about - from the booking, working the matches, to the video games and marketing, Taker knows this business inside and out.
i may not watch WWF now WWE as much as i liked to but i always respected Undertaker. so sad when i found out he had to lose in Wrestlemania. if i had my way send that man undefeated but that's me being selfish.
It’s funny, he talks about those jitters when he shows up and goes backstage… Wanting to perform. When I went to professional wrestling school, the first thing, my teacher said was that you were going to get into this you’re going to wrestle for a bit, you’re going to get out of it and then you’re going to go back in. It is really addicting. That pop of the crowd is something that only Performers know and there’s just something about it that drives you. Being able to get those emotions out of people. Whether you are a professional wrestler, Comedian, actor or musician… It’s your fans that make you and you are only as good as the last person who paid to see you.
Just been even better than I imagined hearing him now on podcasts on stuff. I bet he was a little different in the locker room. Lol. What a cool fn guy. Legend. Took that baton from Hogan and rode and Then hung in through a couple more generations. Undertaker.
The boneyard match with aj styles was an excellent match and definitely will live on in my memory as one of my all time favorites I never thought I'd get to see aj and taker in a match total dream match
The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar's respect for one another is unmatched. Brock Lesnar or anyone else will ever have a bigger win at WrestleMania like beating the streak. It'll never be topped.

And not only is he one of the only guys left from that era, he's probably one of the only ones who still has his wits about him and didn't destroy his brain with bumps or drugs.
Takers are one of the biggest and most famous wrestlers of all times. Even ppl don't watch wrestling know who he is.
Imagine Taker is training Wyatt now for the WrestleMania appearance
Wyatts gone again
Good.
Glad to see the undertaker not in his character he is a honest humble man that we all love and respect
in 1992 I saw my 1st wrestling match on tv (I was 12) and it was of Undertaker, I was genuinely scared of him and always respected him so much for his in-ring performances. Specially the 2 matches with Shawn Michaels in WrestleMania!
Such a nice guy. I've never heard anyone say a negative thing about this man.❤
The nicest undertaker you can ever imagine!
The Undertaker was always one of my favorite wrestlers. Mark Callaway is quickly becoming one of my favorite humans lol
You gotta love the undertaker
This is the GOAT. TAKER IS THE GOAT.
What an awesome dude that is clearly in person "REAL" 👏👏
What a humble guy.
Undertaker.
I think the match he is talking about at the end is against Kai and Tai when Kane couldn't hit the power bomb
The boneyard match with aj styles was an excellent match and definitely will live on in my memory as one of my all time favorites I never thought I'd get to see aj and taker in a match total dream match
Taker out of character is a brilliant man
I have met Mark such a lovely guy so glad he can pass on his knowledge
9:55 That's Awesome
The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar's respect for one another is unmatched. Brock Lesnar or anyone else will ever have a bigger win at WrestleMania like beating the streak. It'll never be topped.
Been with ya since mean mark callus. Sky scraper. U was present and u had the amazing. Mania Main event. F r. I thank u. Digging holes and taking souls.
Business is always what's best for business. Please name ANYONE in ANY federation that does Taker. Give me ONE.
You know what seeing how great brock & Lesnar get along , Lesnar taking the streak was the right call. They’re like 2 older brothers who get along, plus it’s fucking brock man cmon 😂
