That guy really thought he was coming on Tamron’s show and cancelling her on live TV huh, this isn’t twitter baby 💅🏻
Coming on a nationally televised talk show with that hair was a choice.
I believe a big part of the back lash stemmed from people thinking that sherry was going to be given a platform to come on the show give their side if the story and give a reason victimizing themselves and asking for forgiveness. But after watching the interview I enjoyed Tamron was very professional and made sure to not let sherry dodge question and to ask real questions like when sherry said that these were her friends and saying that she suffers from mental illness and Tamrom responded with who would do that to their friends and mental illness does not make you catfish people. I think Tamron handled the interview well and made sure to not let sherry victimize herself at all and to take accounablilty
judging by the preview it sounded like they were saying she was 'accused' and ultimately looked like she might be coming on to tell 'her story' of being innocent. i think that all the public outcry did change the course on how tamron led the interview. by this time today she knew of the outrage and wasn't going to let joey get away with any excuses.
@@AnahataMaryjane Because he was accused. That’s what happened. Unless he’s convicted, no one can say he did it except him and his victims. That’s journalism.
@@mouzube what i'm saying is the preview sounded more salacious and gossipy than the actual interview. from the preview i was led to believe he might renounce the accusations.
@@mouzube but he had already admitted to doing the actions previously
Well said and I agree she sure interviewed the hell out of Sherrie Pie as she should 💯.
I’m pretty sure more than half the people complaining about sherry pies interview watch serial killer interviews and documentaries.
No, they've all seen the victims themselves ask them not to air the interview.
That's very true, however the victims of the killer's acts aren't alive, contrarily to the victims of sexual abuse. And that is the difference.
@@LennyCartwright and the difference is most people wouldn't watch them if the victims family's had objected to them being made.
When Netflix asked Mast’s family and friends in February 2019 to participate in the series, I Am A Killer, those closest to him pleaded with the producers to abandon the project, saying it was inhumane to sell a documentary at the emotional expense of a grieving family. “As a parent, a fellow human being, I beg you not to do this,” Pendleton wrote in the first of many emails to the producers, which she shared with TIME. “PLEASE don’t do this!”
time.com/5825475/true-crime-victim-families/
@@joewhite4456 the victims families aren’t always willing participants. Much of the information is public, and I guess that the families don’t have as much say as we’d like to think. The interviews and documentaries are often produced and backed by large companies that can afford to drown out any complaints by victims families.
Tamron had such a good point. I never knew who she even was until today but I think she’s so eloquent.
Best looking woman on TV📺
She's a fantastic news personality.
She was on Today for a short time, I think.
Would you call a white journo eloquent. Turn your condescension down, your racism is showing!
@@angelicaterry3367 lol what?
@@angelicaterry3367
adjective: eloquent
fluent or persuasive in speaking or writing.
Is she not these things? Did I say “oh she’s eloquent for a black person”? No I didn’t. I gave her a compliment. Is that not allowed? I am a minority and an immigrant so you can cry racist all day but I doubt you truly even know what real racism means. You are just trying to be decisive and see problems where they don’t exist. You’re the ignorant one.
Tamron has every right to interview who she wants. She wasn't trying to help him "rebrand" like twitter thought would somehow happen. We should be allowed to unpack horrible events so that we can understand them better and be educated enough to prevent such things from happening in the future.
That being said, bye-bye Sherry Pie, your career is dead, and I hope we never hear from you again
Oh please. It's not the vague "twitter" who opposed this interview, it's the literal, ACTUAL victims who came forward and asked for their abuser not to be given public attention. They said they reached out to Tamron and said they would be glad to take Sherry's place, but they were ignored. Y'all can quote me with excuses all you want but these are the facts, and facts are facts.
I agre with u
I don't agree. It is VERY important to realise that Tamron giving a sexual predator a platform goes beyond whether she can or not, or whether it's her show. It is people's story, the story of the victims to tell.
The difference with the criminals mentioned in this and Sherry Pie is that those criminals have been charged and indicted. Not only are their victims no longer alive, but their families got a semblant of closure by seeing these people behind bars and pay for their crimes.
However, Joey has not been prosecuted or charged for the crimes he admitted to, so his victims have not had any retribution or closure for what they have gone through.
I see in the comments people talking about documentaries about serial killers or sexual abusers like R. Kelly. But they fail to realise that in those documentaries, the victims are given a platform, people involved in the story - police officers, investigators, psychologists, prosecutors - are also given a platform to recount the story. And the abuser is NOT.
If she invites the dozens of victims to be interviewed and they refuse, if she asks the many people involved in the story and they don't want to be interviewed, if she asks the journalists who reported on this story and they don't want to be interviewed either, maybe it is time to realise that it is too early to talk about and she should NOT interview a sexual predator?
Sherry Pie should only be interviewed once her victims have had a chance (and felt ready) to speak out, and/or when she has been charged for her crime. Until then, maybe we shouldn't give a voice to the abuser. Especially not in a 10mn interview during which she consistently cut her off so that at the end of the interview nothing was said or learned that we didn't already know.
@@chaeriplease well, that’s what that Shimkus man has been looking for all along isn’t it? AIRTIME. You cannot call willing and fully enabled adults who send nudes via email victims. Period.
@@LennyCartwright because what Joey did (although messed up) is NOT A CRIME. You people are brainwashed. Wake up
I am 100% with her on this, it’s her show
Absolutely!!!! 💯👏🏽💯 I couldn’t agree more.
Right! Sherry Pie was not rebranding himself on her show. Tamron held him accountable. What some of these "just-popped-up-yesterday" vloggers don't understand is the difference between journalism and gossip.
My hats off to Tamron for being brave. She is a very capable and intelligent woman. These people who criticize her bold choices are nothing but close-minded, fake-woke individuals who feel entitled to try and cancel everyone out there.
Umm the victims themselves said they didn't want sherry on the show...
@@joewhite4456 it’s not their show. They shouldn’t be watching the show and they should be going to see a therapist instead.
@@julieta12 ah yes, because the answer to knowing that someone who abused you has got onto mainstream television because they abused you is to simply not watch. Why don't we do that with everything wrong in the world, just ignore it?
Joe White But why would a victim watch a interview about a person that catfishes them?
@@julieta12 Enough with the condescension. If she were white you wouldn't comment on a journo's intelligence, it makes you sound racist and stupid
This man doesn't speak for me or anyone in the lgbtq community. I want to hear the interview. He does have a point about being sensitive with the situation but no to the censorship. Think for yourselves
Besides himself*^
Censorship isn’t the answer. I understand the premise of using this platform to advance his own narrative but that wasn’t the opportunity being offering. Anyone who has seen her prior work knows she isn’t going loft softballs.
That doesn't matter, the victims asked her not to air it.
people voicing their concerns and asking her not to do it, is not censorship though. No one sued or sent cease and desists nor did the government or even her network say she can not do it or air it. It was not censored in any way.
she has the right to interview him - and she kept him accountable. she didn't go with "oh yes thanks for the apology, you've really changed". no, she pounded question after question and brought up the harsh reality of criminal charges. and I can see sherry didn't expect that. and finally someone held him accountable to his face.
It doesn't matter how she handled it, the victims asked her not to air it.
Everyone wants to censorship everything nowadays, extreme liberals and conservatives have that in common. Interviewing Sherry was an ok move, it makes you understand his mentality and how this type of situations can be prevented. Interviewing Sherry was not giving him a platform for a comeback people. Tamron is 100% on point. Ps. Why are we talking about skin color now? The topic is catfishing and predatory behavior.
Tamron held him accountable and called him out, not like she was making light or excusing his behavior and asked him hard questions that people want to know about

It’s her show! She should be able to interview whoever she wants no questions asked !
No is able to do that. No one has been able to do that. you can interview anyone you want, but the public will always feel a way about it. That's how it has always been, and how it always will be.

Just as Sherry should've maybe stayed on instagram live, this guy should've stayed on twitter hun
That part where she said this is the first time in 30 years a sexual predator has admitted to it. Sure had him stumped. Like I dont like Sherry Pie but I definitely see that his confession and the sharing of his progress to try and better himself is actually doing some good. Its easy for everyone to come at his neck and try and block any media exposure because he admitted to it. If he kept denying it thats when I bet they want an interview, what good does that bring? Its just letting other predators know that they can continue what they are doing and deny the claims against them. Thats just how I see things, I do believe people who have done bad things deserve to be interviewed just as much as those who deny it all the time. I think it helps society.
Absolutely agree, the guy quickly changed the conversation after her point sunk in - cancel culture doesn't help move the conversation along and allow for growth - it's just nasty bullying tactics.
Tamron: "when is it okay to interview bad people?"
Ryan: "girl ion like mcdonalds that much and it upset my stomach today but i feel sherry shouldve stayed home!"
Lmao he dodged that question hard asf 🤣
Tamron is a journalist so she doesn’t believe in talking to just one side. She would give a platform to the victims as well. She didn’t allow this person to rebrand themselves. She held them accountable. Just having this person on the show is going to offend. I think she should expand the conversation. That’s the only way to do tell the whole story.
She didn’t give the victims a platform, though. The producers were in contact with victims, and they all asked to not have Sherry on the show.
@@harry1923 that’s not their decision
@@tamaracharese I know it’s not. It’s the show’s. My point is that I think the show should have respected their wishes.
@@harry1923 I can see that. I disagree, but I can see that.
@@harry1923 But then when do we get the full story?? That’s what people are not understanding. When someone kills someone we don’t say “the killer can’t speak the victim told the story”. That’s HALF the story. Their motive plays into the story as to why they killed someone, why did they think that’s okay to do, what else led up to that happening. Whether y’all agree or not, the victims wishes ARE not suppose to always be granted just out of respect. They said their part and not all of but some did and Joey has a right to say his whether the victims like it or not
With all due respect Tamron, as a Cisgender, straight woman of color and also a survivor of sexual assault, I think it would have been fine to interview the abuser had you first given a equal platform and voice to his victims. It would have been nice to see a frank discussion of how sexual abuse knows no gender or color before giving a perpetrator a voice and platform.
I am also a victim of sexual assault and I never thought of Tamron being “wrong” for the interview as it is her job and sometimes you need to cover unpleasant subjects. I do like how she didn’t let S.P./Joey get away with his actions or say that it was okay.
The community cannot dictate who they want or not
She's got a point. She should be allowed to interview him.
Why should she? The victims asked her not to.
@@joewhite4456 because it's her platform. There's a story to be heard and even though the victims doesn't want sherry to have a platform Sherry has already paid a huge price for her actions! She has the right to explain herself as every humain does! Who are we to judge?!...I, for one, would like to hear what Sherry Pie has to say. We haven’t even seen the episode yet so the pre-outrage is perhaps a bit misplaced until we see the finished product. Plus I believe in rehabilitation and forgiving people for their crimes if not what's the point having a justice system we should just hang everyone if they do something dreadful.
@@freddywilson she was doing it the day before she was outed, she's only stopped because she was caught so why give her the chance to be forgiven for something she wouldn't have changed unless forced to? She has her own platforms such as her social media, that's where she has the right to explain herself, not "every human" has the right to explain themselves on national television.
@@joewhite4456 who are you to say where someone has the right to express them selfs? This is why I say people like you feel so entitled. By your logic people shouldn't be allowed to atone for their actions. Guess what it's not your show or your platform so if you have an issue with her being on the show don't watch it. It's called investigative journalism, your supposed to get the story from the source. @@joewhite4456 but Trump wasn't even elected at the end of the day so the majority of people indeed have common sense in them and realise a few things. Also, just because someone voted for Trump doesn't mean they'll think that Sherry's acts represent the gay community, that's just a stupid and absurd conclusion that was made up by gay people that underlies hate for Sherry, trying to blame her for more stuff than she's already been blamed for, I surely never saw any straight trump supporter accusing gay people for this
@@fulfilledfantasy. so because you haven't been affected by it means it doesn't happen? Have you never heard someone say "I don't have a problem with you being gay as long as you don't try to hit on me"? That comes from a culture of thinking gay people care about nothing but sex and are going to try and get their straight friends to have sex with them which Joey is perpetuating. Even in countries that have relatively good anti discrimination laws in place like the USA people are still bullied, fired, kicked out of their home, sent to conversion therapy, assaulted, and even murdered because of their sexuality and you're trying to tell me that people wouldn't use something like this as an example of how gay people act?
It's also an interesting choice of words to say "more stuff than she's already being blamed for", I think you mean "more stuff than she's already admitted to doing"

If you get the same kind of discord with other interviews, why not just give them the same response. keep doing it, and keep it pushing. While I definitely understand people being leery of a predator, or someone who displays constant bad behavior getting a platform and somehow using it to rebrand (because history has shown us this time and time again, and that is literally all Fox News does) I also understand that competent people should at least get a chance to interview subjects, and see what can come from it. It is what it is, a comment can not stop or start an interview. I am not going to be a person that just says people are too sensitive and it's her show, because if people bail, there will be no show.
