I can see how you'd think that based on this video alone. We have videos on the channel that cover the HX stomp over about 10 videos, a handful of Boss GT videos, 2 previous Kemper users and members of the team who've had hands-on experience with the Ampero and Headrush units. Rest assured, we have personal experience with these units 👍 The stock footage was easier to compile for a short run down that shooting hours of our own footage, as we were on a tight schedule we decided to go down this route for this video. @@PBOD ah good to know. I’ve had the GT1000core and currently have the HX One and Mod Dwarf. Keen to try a QC at some point but tbh it’s totally overkill really, I mostly lean towards more standalone pedals or at least a hybrid. I don’t think there’s such a thing as a generic top 5 for this stuff as they’re all going to perform differently depending on what you need and at wildly different price points. I feel like the HX Stomp is a great all rounder with a strong community, albeit slightly lacking in power. The GT1000core is extremely powerful (especially when you get into assigns) and has great routing capabilities but lacks the community and release cadence. I wasn’t a fan of the headrush, found the UI looked great but clunky and impractical. I’d take the Boss dated but functional UI any day!
Yeah, I think we'd probably have been better branding it as 'if you're curious about compact modellers, these 5 are a great place to start' kind of deal. It's a shame the boss doesn't get as much recognition as it's incredibly powerful. Our chaps that use it seem to say the same. The dated UI as you say has got to be a bit of a barrier to those who are new to it all. There are definitely merits in all of these units and there is no one clear winner, but rather one which will fit your needs best. We have 2 quad cortex users here at PBOD too btw and they say how excellent their experience has been with it 👍

What was the criteria for top 5? It didn’t seem like there was much hands on experience with many of the units.
