The planted front end might have aerodynamic reasons too, it seems they have put some tought into that front fairing. it would make sense for it to be more stable than the naked bike.
It's a standard. Standards, to me, are inherently confidence inspiring. They're easier to hang off of because you get greater benefit from just getting your butt off in a deep than having absolute perfectly technical body position. And so you have the confidence to ride at a higher level even if a supersport is gonna have marginally better top performance.
One small point. When riding you don't have to look at its beak. I love this bike, so much I bought one and yes the F angry bird model. Direct face on is the only angle from which this doesn't work. I think the looks of this bike has the same issue the Bandit1250S does. The lines of the bike don't seem to flow well from front to back, but the back looks REALLY good. Also, like the Bandit - I'm just not sure how to fix it. Perhaps if it were more of a modern interpretation of a late 80s GSX-R....they also could have done something to recall the original Hans Muth Katana. The naked version I rode certainly ticked all the boxes from the cockpit, but I think the guys make a good point in the video. If Suzuki would have really done something special with the styling, they may have had the big hit they've wanted (or WE"VE wanted) for a long time now.

I'm definitely going to look at one. A dealer by me has 3 in stock for $7k and a used very low mileage one for $6k. I like the idea of ABS, traction control and the upright bars. I'm in my 40s and not a hooligan so the sport touring option is perfect for me.
Hey im 53 ! its lightweight to only about 210kg, my last bike was a vfr1200, that was faster top end, but not as quick on acceleration as this, lots of gsxR riders have swapped over to these as they are more usable around town.
I think it’s quite good looking from end to end. I don’t understand the opposition to the shape of the fairing at all, it’s just as attractive as the FJR in every respect. Throw a set of bags on it and you have an excellent Sport Touring Bike. I plan to purchase one to have an option living beside my FLHT. The FLHT for comfortable traveling with my wife and the Suzuki when I need to boogie across the land quickly.😎
I own and ride this bike. Watching this interview, the rider in shot makes sense and seems to know what he is talking about. The man off camera making fatuous remarks about the shape of the key and how he doesn't like the look of the front of the bike was wise not to show his face because then we would know what a poltroon looks like.
Dude, the key is long as it has to access a recess to be pushed fully home, hence the large fob so extraction is easier. something else which is quite obvious - a large key is less likely to be lost. your criticism of it is at the very least super picky. i have owned a 2018 model for three years now and it is the best bike i have owned.

since my english is better, it's joy to see every video of yours. i'm looking for an upgrade of my sv 650s and i think here it his, plus for the look i'm agree with you, is the lack of Twin lol, but i tested the N version it was smooth and nice. Its a bike you are not afraid to park in big cities and i like the configuration roadster + fairing, it's seems the perfect stuf to both city and long travel in hollidays. the wrong thing i think in the design in front is that strange buble. suzuki release a black shorter version, really nice look for streets. Also the 2017 version have 10 more hp and more torque !
after testing it 500km i have to say that, even if it would be pink with a vagina shaped frontlight, i would still admire it. The firework above 8000 rpm is something you will never forget in your life ;)
But how is it below 8000 rpm? Let's say for city usage for example, and lower speeds in common. Does it have any grunt below 8000 rpm? I'm coming from a 2014 MT-09 and I am thinking about getting a brand new GSX-S1000 (the naked version of it). I think the stock gearing on the GSX might be a bit too tall especially for the naked version. I mean 145 km/h in first gear on a naked? That doesn't seem right because that would mean you are doing about 100 km/h in first before you even reach that 8000 rpm margin. Maybe a little smaller front sprocket and a bigger rear sprocket would do the job?
it has more than enough grunt below 8000rpm, only issue is that it has a snatchy throttle at very low rpms (around 3000rpm) but with a sensitive throttle hand this is not so dramatic. At least test ride it, i am sure you will love it! It is so easy to ride, you can put a beginner on it
As an MT-09 user I'm very familiar with a snatchy throttle. However I heard that Suzuki already has a remap fix for the GSX-S1000. You can get it for free from a dealership and I think it is already fixed in 2017 models. By being easy to ride, I hope you don't mean it's a boring bike to ride ^^. As I understand it you will get that super sport rush at 8000 rpm and the bike just pulls and pulls harder. I'm not very experienced in inline fours. I've only had two and three cylinder bikes with a lot of low and mid range torque. The only inline four I've ever ridden was a Yamaha XJ6. It wasn't very powerful for obvious reasons but I did like the butter smooth ride and the sound a lot. It was a gem at the highway but did feel heavier to maneuver than my previous MT-07.
I like it ... a lot. If I only had myself to think about, and not 'er indoors on the back. I'd seriously consider this rather than the z1000sx ... which is basically the route I'm going to go down.
I rode one today, usually ride a Tiger 1050 and have a Cagiva Raptor 1000 in the garage as well.. this thing is mad.. doesn't feel like they de-tuned it for street it's aggressive when you twist on the throttle..
Like how you guys get right to the bits and pieces of the bike. A little odd to have the camera man speak more about the bike than the guy in front of the camera. Still loved the video.
I thought it was an awesome upgrade to the original 1200 bandit. I felt the same thing when I rode that back in 96, cheap and cheerful but works well as a package
I know Baron's a fan of the s1000XR, have you thought about checking out its competition the Kawasaki Versys, has a similar/slightly tuned down version of the Z1000 engine you guys talked about. Think you might be surprised about it, I've been scouring the interwebz to see any reviews on it and there aren't very many. I'd hoped to see a bike that good get a bit of coverage
Ok, so I'm probably a bit late to the party, but I like it's looks, the later incarnation GT with the tiny square headlamps just doesn't do it for me, this one looks more traditional, as for pigeon holing it into a category, I'd say it's sporty, it has a full fairing, it's a Sports Tourer, looking for a mile muncher !! get one of these.
Hey guys, not sure if you look through the comments but it would be nice to see you test out some more starter bikes around the 250-650 range. I know you did the 125's but it'd be nice to see something you might not grow out of so quickly! Personally i've been looking at a Honda CB500X as my first bike here in Australia, and would be great to get your opinions on the similar options if you can. Cheers guys!
The CB 500x is a great beginner bike and you get the Honda build quality and reliability. Any of the cb500 are great it's just up to the style you want. Don't make my mistake and get a ninja 300 it spent too much time getting fixed and the build quality was terrible. Also have a look at the Yamaha mt07 and the triumph street Triple 660. Get the most powerful bike you can afford so you can get used to the torque of bigger bikes like this Suzuki.
+nothing to see here couldn't agree more with ya, im in the uk and restricted to 47 hp so dont know if there is a limit for you in terms of starting license but i am about to buy the cb500x very practical very fun solid as you want. mt-07 are great little machines aswell! safe riding to you!
The front end doesn't look bad at all, it's just that screen.....that screen doesn't fit in with it at all! it's like some one put a touring screen on a superbike!
Great review! It's just hitting dealers here in Los Angeles. Can't wait to see and test ride one. I have to agree about that monster ass old school key. WTF was the design team thinking when they signed off on that design?

Ta3kno I tried this bike and you have an excellent torque everytime. Orgasmic GSXS!!
This is a Gixxer K5 motor, it has tons of grunt [more than a MTO9 for sure].
I like it ... a lot. If I only had myself to think about, and not 'er indoors on the back. I'd seriously consider this rather than the z1000sx ... which is basically the route I'm going to go down.
Z1000Jeff I am looking at these 2 bikes. Did you get the z1000sx? Did you test them both with pillion?
So với z1000 thì chiếc nào hơn vậy ban?
I think it looks great! In fact that's the first thing that grabbed me...
This or the z1000sx. What is your choice?
I rode one today, usually ride a Tiger 1050 and have a Cagiva Raptor 1000 in the garage as well.. this thing is mad.. doesn't feel like they de-tuned it for street it's aggressive when you twist on the throttle..
Great review and I quite like it
The front makes me think 'FJR'
I must be odd. I think it looks lovely.
its a supersport/super touring, bike like the ducati supersport?
Like how you guys get right to the bits and pieces of the bike. A little odd to have the camera man speak more about the bike than the guy in front of the camera. Still loved the video.
Is the engine Buzzy above 5,000 rpm?
I thought it was an awesome upgrade to the original 1200 bandit. I felt the same thing when I rode that back in 96, cheap and cheerful but works well as a package
can you turn the anti wheelie off ?
I know Baron's a fan of the s1000XR, have you thought about checking out its competition the Kawasaki Versys, has a similar/slightly tuned down version of the Z1000 engine you guys talked about. Think you might be surprised about it, I've been scouring the interwebz to see any reviews on it and there aren't very many. I'd hoped to see a bike that good get a bit of coverage
You gives us more info than others. Sufficient for me to make decision.
Convincing me to want to buy one. Like now.
I have heard people have changed the throttle grip and the cable and fixed the jerky throttle! It’s just something they all do some worse the others!
Would like to see a road test of the Honda cb1000 if you have the opportunity too.
Great review! It's just hitting dealers here in Los Angeles. Can't wait to see and test ride one. I have to agree about that monster ass old school key. WTF was the design team thinking when they signed off on that design?
I really like the front end also, something about it
Couldn’t you get any closer to that road..... ?
Τhe triumph of motorcycling in this one.
No plans to review the suzuki gsxs 750 ???
