Bit in the middle was "You don't own me" by Lesley Gore
This guy is correct 👍🏼
The middle part wasn’t Cyndi Lauper, it was “You Don’t Own Me” by Leslie Gore. Another phenomenal song that was VERY ahead of its time.
EDIT: Nevermind, I saw you know that now lol
She is definitely one of the best vocalists of this era. If she was born 80 years ago we would still be talking about her legend. "Black Hole Sun", "Love Fool", "Seven Nation Army"
Agreed if she was performing back then she would 100% be one of the musical greats of history.
Well said
You hit the nail on the head. She is a goddess. An absolute goddess in every way. An animated character come to life. Part Betty Boop, part Jessica Rabbit. By far my favorite vocalist in every way.
You should hear her version (also with PMJ) of Tove Lo's "Habits". It's quintessential Haley. In fact, I'm going to find your donor links and formally request it right now with a donation. You MUST do it. She also does a mind blowing version of White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army"...But "Habits" is the coup de grace of Haley Reinhart
Her duet with puddles pitty party is also great. He is also a very good singer, but of course, Shi is the top gem. I I was a believer, I would think that god(s) would cry in envy after hearing this. And thanks to the musicians with her and the whole arrangement, this is just music extasy.
I never had any use for "Creep" until PMJ and Haley covered it.
Same here
If you think this was good, then you haven't heard her cover of "Creep" (Radiohead)...IMO, the best ever cover of any song ever recorded...she's the best female vocalist on this planet !!!!!!!!
She’s done it already 👍
Floor Jansen would like a word.
Or she has heard and thinks they are both good......
@@bradleyd6000completely different singers. Different style. Different tone. Terrible comparison.
@@davidedwards3838 Floor can sing any style, so it's not a "terrible comparison".
Most singers sing what they can, Floor sings what she wants.
I love your reaction. As others have said Creep is wonderful. My favorite is Seven Nation Army done in a New Orleans style jazz.
Haley can do anything
The instrumental part you mentioned; that Scott Bradley mashed into this arrangement, was the song "You Don't Own Me" not a Cindy Lauper song 😆, but nice try. Another amazing PMJ & Haley Reinhart collaboration would be their cover of the White Stripes song "Seven Nation Army" turning this Classic Rock tune into a NOLA Jazz throwback .🔥🤯🤯 🔥
"You Don't Own Me" by Leslie Gore from 1963 ... perfect blend to a 60s rendition of Don't Speak
She should have won American idol. She was my favorite contestant evererrr
The only reason she didn't win was because American Idol employed power voting. Which permitted for manipulation of the votes. Had there been one vote per person instead, Haley would have won American Idol in a landslide.
She's honestly better off not winning. Had she won, she probably wouldn't have the freedom to do what she wants . Nor be able to sing with PMJ.
Funny how after she refused to sign their contract she suddenly got voted off. She was smart not to sign with them.
@@ronhall5395 She refused to sign what contract?
She didn't get voted off. Had American Idol had "one vote per contestant", as opposed to "almost unlimited power-voting", Haley would have won the show in a land slide.
@@elgenetiamzon1062 Why would someone want to sing with PMJ? As PMJ pays peanuts relative to what Haley would be making as a signed music artist.
She performed for PMJ at the time because it was the only gig she could get that paid anything. However, as soon as she could, she escaped PMJ before she ended up in the poor house.
Had she won she'd be a mega millionaire today.
Loved this reaction! EXACTLY how I feel whenever I hear a Haley/PMJ song! Check out their cover of Seven Nation Army, Black Hole Sun, Creep, and, a guilty pleasure of mine = Oops I Did It Again (really, I'm there for the music...). Outside of PMJ, Haley did a fantastic performance with Jeff Goldblum (My Baby Just Cares for me) and I enjoyed the song she covered with her father at Chess Records (Blind Faith's Can't Find My Way Home). Have fun!
Don't forget "Can’t Help Falling In Love" (ft. Casey Abrams) ... it'll make you forget Elvis' version. And for the full Jessica Rabbit effect, there's the PMJ cover of "Habits"!
“Don’t Speak” is already an amazing song and Hailey just put her twist on it and it sounds amazing to say the least. Words can’t describe how unique and beautiful her voice is. Amazing reaction as always ❤
Props to Scott Bradlee for the arrangement.
Enjoyed your reaction, like the rest of us you fell in love with HALEY, it only takes a few notes😊
PMJ's cover of Mad World, featuring Haley & Puddles Pity Party. I know clowns are creepy but it's a pretty cool cover. And you will get to see either, how small she is or how friggin big that clown is.
Mad World is Haley's worse cover with PMJ.
True, but it is still very good.
I suspect the other one you heard was their cover of 'Creep' by Radiohead, but if you haven't heard it, you have no reason to wait.
PMJB is my favorite, found them couple years ago. Check out them with Morgan James or Sara Niemietz.
Great reaction. Great song. After years of listening to reactors, don't be afraid to rewind and listen again to the things that impressed you. Haley is great. Saw her during American Idol.
Robyn Adele Anderson is also super fun cover stuff that has worked with PMJ. Worth the look for sure
PMJB's cover of Green Day - Basket Case is incredible. Definitely worth a listen, or ten.
I'm a dude and pretty much only listen to blues and rock but this song is a guilty pleasure. It's so good.
Even the captions generator was left speechless.😁
What she's doing at the end of certain notes is a "slide" (up or down in frequency.) She can slide a full octave in an instant - the "Betty Boop" effect - and has complete control of her vibrato. The quick switch from full belt to soft and breathy at 7:56 is another neat trick that few singers can pull off. And she makes it all look so easy!
Creep by her am PMJ is a 4 minute singing masterclass. She literally does it all there, including yodelling and scatting. And it still all makes sense and redefines the song.
Subscribing in hopes you review more Haley videos. She may be the best singer of our generation. A Goddess as you say. Drops mic.
It's Don't tell me what to do! very fitting choice for Don't Speak!
This was fantastic she killed it 🔥I first noticed her when I saw her cover of Creep which was great. 🤟
I agree, Haley Reinhart truly is a Goddess.
Haley is such a magnificent songstress, weaving magic that draws you in. Another of PMJ's artists I enjoy is Aubrey Logan. She's a fairly athletic singer, with a 4 1/2 octave range. Her cover with PMJ of "Give it Away" is wonderful, but my favorite of her covers is actually on her own channel. "U Can't Touch This" in the style of Ella Fitzgerald. Brilliant
If you have the chops, it ain't hyperbole. Bye the bye, not Cindy LAUPER, It was actually Leslie Gore, Dont tell me What to do, don't tell me what to say.... PMJ is a combination of the Boston Pops and the Lawrence Welk Show, who converted popular music of their day into something gramma and grampa could swing to. Next, Deam On with Morgan James.
You should do more Postmodern Jukebox songs! Maps and Dream On by Morgan James are both amazing.
I would suggest PMJ's rendition of Aerosmith's Dream On featuring Morgan James. It's amazing.
You Don't Own Me is the little nod in the instrumentals. Brilliant touch.
She’s just as good live as she is recorded. Had the privilege to see her in Senatobia MS on Dec 1.
Billie eilish wishes she could sing like Haley Reinhart 😊
I legit wanna have a drink and conversation with everyone involved with this production. I wanna know how they make these artistic choices... but mostly, I just wanna hang out with them because I feel like they would give off the theater/band gang nerd vibes. I was there in high school, even though I wasnt in the band or theater. I helped with props and lights. I bet they all have some crazy ass stories, lol, I know I do.
I find SB PMJB often exceeds the original recordings. The professionalism and precision of the musicians is extraordinary, and his choice of vocalists is spot on.
Thankfully my subscription to Apple Music means I can access his catalogue as well as the original artist.
BTW, you need more cat in your videos
The little musical quote sounds to me like "You Don't Own Me" by Leslie Gore
Yep, that’s what it was.
I think this is one of my favorite top three performances by Haley... Please do more.
This is great, I requested this like 6 months ago I think in discord... I knew you'd love it.
Try Toxic by PMJ with Melinda Doolittle on vocals. Their version of Dream On with Morgan James is another tremendous performance. Listen to Haley's take on I Put a Spell on You, the version on tour has better recording quality although the version in the Musical Instrument Museum is a good listen as well. These are not PMJ, but her own group, but it's a truly different take on that song, unlike any other that I've heard.
Just found you & you too appreciate PMJ stuff! They're the best! Decorum & class! Did you do their ALL ABOUT THAT BASS? It's a hoot! Oh! MAD WORLD - Haley & Puddles, fun! Oh! Puddles Royals..., whoa! See ya later kids..😉
Loved your reaction...as always! I highly, Highly, HIGHLY suggest PMJ's version of "Dream On" with Morgan James who is a phenomenally talented vocal artist!! she and Haley also have an acoustic cover of the Beatles "Dear Prudence" that is beautiful! Thanks for taking the time to create, edit and post such killer content!
They turned this into an old school Sean Connery James Bond theme song. Every bit of this is absolutely stunning. Great reaction.
Haley Reinhart is by far the best vocalist to have ever performed with Postmodern Jukebox by a mile. As all of her covers get astronomically far more RUclips views relative to everybody else who has performed with PMJ. As there is no other PMJ performers that come close. As Haley is a world class performer all the way .
In fact, before Haley arrived on the scene, all PMJ played were cheap dives and tiny venues. Then when Haley arrived and quickly recorded several music videos with them that all went viral, suddenly PMJ found themselves filling coliseums and arenas. As everyone wanted to go see Haley.
Anyway, more must react to covers featuring Haley Reinhart with PMJ are "Creep", "Seven Nation Army", "Oops, I Did It Again, "Habits", and "All About That Bass". In fact, everything Haley did with PMJ is great and also has astronomically far more RUclips views relative to all the other artists that have performed with PMJ.
who did this to you? what happened? have you spoken to anyone about this? I'll tell you why, because we're worried, that's why.
Except they don't? She has a few that were big, but there are plenty of ladies who have more views than some of hers. She has 4 in the top ten, but she's also the most prolific performer for them. She also had the benefit of getting some of the most popular songs out of that top 10. She's terrific, but shitting on everyone else is sort of childish. IMO, Dream On by James Morgan is the best cover ever on PMJ, and that's from a song that is 50 years old. It's so far out of what is current modern and popular that the fact it's sitting at 10th, with 30 million views is absolutely incredible. Let's break it down shall we?
First, we have Creep. One of the most popular cover songs of all time. Second, we have All about that Bass. At the time it PMJ did it, it was fresh and all over the place. Third, Seven Nation Army, one of the most popular anthems of all time. Fourth, Bad Romance, when PMJ did it, it was still fresh and popular. Fifth, Habits, another popular modern song PMJ covered just after it came out. Sixth, first "old" song, Careless Whisper. Seventh, Oops! I did it again, not new, but not old, also covered 8 years ago when it was even newer than now. Eighth, Closer, another new song. Ninth, Royals, ANOTHER new song. Finally, Tenth, a song that is 50 years old now, over 40 years old when they covered it. Not a popular song by todays standards, popular in the 80s. The fact it somehow pulled 30M views is astonishing, where people tend to listen to covers of things they know, like, and are familiar with.
Check out PMJ doing “Dream On” with Morgan James
That was actually "You Don't Own Me" by Lesley Gore
🤦♀️ oops! Thank you ✌️
Scott bradlee, the piano player, writes all the vintage arrangements. He did a bridge of You Dont Own Me in this that you heard
That was 500 gurl. She pulling that song. Great reaction gurl❤❤
Love your reaction i am so pleased to see another love Haley the way i do another awesome pmj cover is Miss Morgan James dream on i would just love for you to react to that one
just found your channel last week you have a new subscriber. keep up the good work.
One strangely awesome cover that PMJ does is Wannabe by the Spice Girls. It's in the style of the Andrews Sisters, and pretty awesome! Love your reactions!
It’s not Cyndi Lauper it sounds like the music behind Lesley Gore doing “u Don’t Own Me” from the 60s
Must hear Haley covering Seven Nation Army, another Post Modern Jukebox performance. Guys lose their minds .
Creep. Seven Nation Army. Mad World. All About the Bass. Dream On. And an impromptu Dear Prudence by Haley and Morgan.
Haley is amazing!
The instrumental blended in is "You don't Own Me" by Leslie Gore(I think).
This song is pushing 30 years
creep never goes wrong, haley at her best
Morgan James, Maia Sykes, Ariana Savalas, The list is DEEEP. The music stunning the artists memorable. PMJ is a huge rabbit hole.
Puddles Pity Party doing a "softer" and slower rendition of Blink 182's "All the Small Things" is a must watch/listen to PMJ cover. It will blow you away! Mykal Killgore does an awesome 50's style rendition of Crline Dion's "My Heart Will Go On." Ariana Savalas doing "Bad Romance" is also phenomenal!
Check out “ mad, mad, mad world” with puddles pity party too! This chick is beyond AMAZING! I’ve been crazy impressed by her! Creep, black hole sun, so many awesome covers she’s done
That's probably the worse cover Haley has done with PMJ.
You should have a listen to Morgan James' cover of Sledgehammer. She does stuff with PMJ as well, but I think that one's on her own channel. The power and warmth in her voice sells it.
Dont tell me what to say...Dont tell me what to do.... Mmm hmmm that was it "You Don't Own Me" - Lesley Gore
Check out her rendition of Creep...be warned...open all the windows and turn the fan up high and bring towels...I do. LOL
One more genius who don't see already done reaction on a channel facepalm.jpg
WOW! No other word for it WOW
Love your Haley reactions. Hope you do Oops I Did it Again - she re-invents it.
from 1963's "You Don't Own Me", Lesley Gore
You should see her and her dad play together!!
Speaking of taking souls out will ramos covering sleep tokens chokehold must be on the priority list
Dream on (aerosmith cover) with Morgan James and Post Modern Jukebox. Try that :)
Haley Reinhart owns another song.
You want some more PMJ? Here are some suggestions: Creep, Seven Nation Army, Dream On, and All About That Bass. That will be a good start.
I recommend, silent planet ~ terminal, the song is very emotional
She's Amazing ❤❤
Dream On is a good one
Sooooo good
If this performance wasn't impressive enough, Scott Bradlee the videographer, composer, and piano player hates doing any type of video editing, so chances are very good that this was a first take performance of this video. I have no doubt they practiced for hours, but it was all shot with one camera in one take.
PMJ Dream On with Morgan James is a must.
Except it's not close to most of Haley's covers.
Here is a performance I think you would love... I'm amazed at the sound that comes from these two guys ... Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds - Bartender Live at Radio City Music Hall.. Enjoy new sub.
It wasn't that song, girls just want to have fun, it was you don't own me, don't try to change me in any way. You don't own me, don't tie me down cuz I'll never... song from the earlier part of the 1960s. The one who sings it reminds me of the girl who sang it's My party I can cry if I want to, and hey now hey now my boyfriend's back. I'm probably wrong and that's a different singer but I'm usually pretty good with making those connections.
PMJ Dream On cover with Morgan James, PMJ Seven Nation Army with Haley, and the biggest is PMJ Creep with Haley. -- PMJ 'Habits' with Haley isn't quite as amazing, but just fun.
10:45 If Marilyn Monroe and Christina Aguilera had a baby ... 😄 I have heard comments like Betty Boop, Jessica Rabbit, ... but this is new
Watch it again, but this time keep an eye on the xylophone player on the right. Dude's really funny.
Channeling Judy Garland in the beginning.
I would like to see her duet with Suzuka Nakamoto
Beautiful version
Have a look at James Morgan with Dream On from postmodernjukebox...
Excellent video, you have to listen to she's gone by Steelheart
All PMJ is great.
Not really. Only Haley Reinhart's covers with PMJ are worthy.
❤❤❤
You should check out PMJB's cover of Creep with Haley.
G'day! Great reaction to a gorgeous cover. If you want to see a cover that I think is the best I've ever seen, check out Australian country singer songwriter Kasey Chambers cover of MnMs Lose Yourself! Jon from Aus
If you think this is good, you should watch Morgan James' cover of Dream on with PMJ
It's ok, I have a crush on Haley too 😉
Haley is one of a kind, I feel everything you said, not many people do Habits or Love fool, both a stellar!
After listening to Dimash, the other members die as a toy, with the greatest respect they put in😅
I would Michael Douglas myself for Haley Reinhart.
Why not add to the list of greatest singers of our time you Puls react to:
So Hyang - Arirang Alone
This reminds me of Lana Del Rey.
i like the original bettet
LOPPER
Comparing Aquilera to Haley is a insult, she’s only a we’ll marketed studio pop star, Haley as a vocalist rejected that false genre. Haley is one of the top click bait stars of PMJ but there’s many, many off the radar artist in Scott’s arsenal that are top level talent
Comparing the Billie Eilish to the SLAYER, Sacrilege.
