So fascinating how Fouts was discussing less about film and more the personal of those games, and what they meant for him… While Herbert was strictly technical and gave some analysis

      Good spot!
Justin is very shy. He was both on camera, which he seeks to avoid at all cost, and also watching his own film with one of his life's biggest heroes, in Fouts. Ex-Duck. Ex-Charger. It is easier for him to talk shop.
Plus, Justin doesn't have the breadth of experience that Dan does to get to the place where everything slows down enough and relationships are deep enough to reflect on the personal aspects of the game.
This was lovely. Grew up a Fouts fan and became a Ducks fan when I moved to Oregon thirty years ago. Became a huge Justin fan and that carried over to the Bolts when they drafted Justin.

Somebody below stated that Rivers was better 🤦🏼 Regular Season Stats Overall I'll agree ... Playoffs Rivers was a Massive Choke Artist and had Nowhere Near as much success as Fouts did and Herbert we'll find out in the future (side note Humphries was better than Rivers too playoffs wise given Humphries and Fouts BOTH Took Their Chargers Teams to the Super Bowl! Where as Rivers Never Sniffed It Which I Think Is Truly Sad!) This was a fun video and I'm not even a Chargers Fan BUT Love The Nostalgia Football though ... Maholmes Allen Herbert ... Those 3 make Great Rivals for each other Carr sorta too based off last game of the year but either way that makes Herbert more interesting and I Hated him in College He Always Destroyed My Huskies UGH!
I can see Herbert getting Chargers back to the Super Bowl and winning it all

Pretty cool stuff here. I was hoping for more of Fouts talking analytically about how the Coryell offense is still a major component in how offenses are run today. That said, it was cool to get personal insights about the players and coaches he was involved with. I also liked seeing Fouts 1st TD pass.
On a sartorial note, could the Chargers PLEASE wear the yellowish pants with the dark blue jerseys? It'd remind me a lot of the Coryell era and would be a unique look for today's NFL.
To top it all off, it's wise that the two main games they talked about with Fouts are two games i'd show to anyone who wasn't around in that era. It'd show that football back then wasn't "boring" but could be pretty fun and quasi modern to watch.

The funny thing is, even 70s/early 80s style defensive slugfests were more fun than low scoring games today because defense was so tough back then. if the 1980 Chargers were around today they'd be a Super Bowl dynasty without a doubt. The fact they did what they did when they did says a lot

Being 3rd string behind Brees and Rivers, Feeley never took a snap. So he suited up as a Charger but never actually played for them.

For me as a Ducks fan of nearly 62 years and choosing Mel Renfro as my sports hero, this is and awesome video to have now, love Dan Fouts, he was a country club in Portland Oregon I was working and my great friend and waitress got his autograph when told her to thank me for the great burger, he just wrote Bombs away Terry and his signature.
As for Justin Herbert I know people from his neighborhood and actually used park around the area and walked to Autzen Stadium from there as he did.
Had actually been trying keep tabs on him when he was a freshman in high school having of him from friends in Eugene and was thrilled when Oregon finally offered and not surprised that he eventually started as a freshman, not surprisingly in my mind he is doing well BUT really didn't see this rise to fame coming like it has, it has been my absolute favorite sports story to follow as a Ducks, Chargers and Cowboys fan, I have told many people that I honestly have a strong sense of pride when I talk about Justin, just know we are from the same area.
He is definitely a sense of pride for an entire community, and then put the Beaded one with him, Justin Herbert, I have actually been waiting for this since Dan whispered to Justin at his golf Tournament last year that he would like to get together with him iwhen is is in LA, I knew it would be fun.
    I am not disappointed 😌
    Thank you.

The days of the "Air Coryell" offense was so ahead of its time if only the Chargers had the defense to match that offense I really believe the Chargers would have won a Super Bowl or two! Dan Fouts is right, Don Coryell's offense is still being used by teams today alot of Coryell's assistant coaches like Joe Gibbs and John Madden are already in the HOF because of winning the Super Bowl it's a shame not to include Don Coryell for his innovations on offense, because of Don you wouldn't have the wide passing attack that makes today's NFL exciting and Don Coryell should be in the HOF as a contributer.

I hope Herbert doesn't turn out to be Dan Fouts 2.0 in the best possible way. Fouts was a beast, an NFL and Oregon Hall of Famer, but he never saw the promised land. That said that really comes down to something neither man could control... defense. If the Chargers can't build a solid defense then Herbert can throw up and down the field all day and come up short. If they don't shore it up then Herbert's just gonna become the 21st century Dan Marino, an epic Hall of Famer pocket passer that torches defenses but comes away with nothing at the end of the day because his defense is made of wet tissue paper that can't stop lesser offenses from doing the same.
