tbf Taylor didn't show to a "random screening". Him and his wife rented a theatre for them and their friends to have a private screening. ruclips.net/video/jqCg_FIzncA/видео.htmlsi=kfHzBgjbOR0IvdG0
Miranda Cosgrove was very smart. She started acting as a child, saved her coin, went to the college of her dreams, got into the events and charities she was interested, continued acting (physically and voice over), and she minds her business.
Seriously you never hear about her doing stupid shit or getting into unnecessary drama. I’m so happy that she escaped the fate that befalls a lot of child stars
Well, but you have to consider that she was making the most money out of all the child stars in the 2000s (considering only the TV salaries), so i think she made a very comfortable fortune to be able to mind her own business for years 😭 none of the people in this video made anything close to what she did
@@alliediallo1945He also came out of that into young adulthood with addictions. He spent a lot of it. From what I understand, Miranda had supportive parents who probably helped her to build healthy financial habits.
@@ktalexander75Yeah, I totally get that. I think we as viewers sometimes see celebrities almost like a product, not a regular human being. This can lead to them being more vulnerable to being harassed in public. Also, in a much smaller scale, many of us can experience similar falls from grace in our own lives and I think it’s important to try to be kind and empathic to ourselves and others in such moments of struggle. We all have value to give and even when our life no longer lives up to the lofty expectations of others, we all deserve to be here and to be treated with empathy and respect. Thanks for sharing your comment! It was really interesting to chat about this for a moment. 😀✨
What’s especially funny about Taylor Lautner doing a backflip at that screening of the movie is that he and his wife actually HOSTED that screening. So he didn’t just show up to a random theatre, he spent time and probably money putting the whole thing on. Incredible.
It seems really difficult for actors from famous kid/teen franchises to ‘make it out’. Robert Pattinson and Daniel Radcliffe had to work like crazy to get past the shadow of their most famous roles (and people still associate them with Twilight/Harry Potter) so I’m not surprised many of the other actors didn’t manage it. There’s also the idea that if they somehow don’t keep getting bigger and bigger roles they’re not doing as well which isn’t true either. Emma Watson isn’t getting roles as famous as Hermione Granger but she’s doing just fine. I wonder though what the psychological effect is of being so associated with a character for so many years in your childhood. No wonder Tom Felton thinks ‘what would Draco do’ he WAS Draco Malfoy basically full-time while he was growing up!
Y'all, Mariah Carey makes $3M a year from that Christmas song and the fact that I don't even have to say which one it is for it to pop right into your head is why. She ain't jobless, she's just seasonally employed, lol.
Just 3M?! Don't get me wrong, it's a lot of money, more money than I will see on all my time on earth, but it's the biggest Christmas song, so I though it would be more.
This genre of celebrity honestly just makes me sad. It just shows how brutal and unapologetic the entertainment industry is, and how much people are willing to cling to any amount of fame they can hold onto.
Unless they've got something else that they're really good at it must be hard to once be famous and then have to get a regular job where plenty of people go 'hey aren't you', but yeah it feels sad to see
Are people really clinging to fame by doing a podcast or making silly throwback tiktoks? Regular people do those things all the time, why not celebs too? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@danameyy I think it really depends on how good the product is, like a lot of people in the comments love the Wizards of Waverley podcast because it's well made and fun, but dislike the Ned's Declassified one because it's full of nasty gossip and they're desperate for a reboot - nothing wrong with doing it I guess, just how you go about doing it
But the gag is that Taylor Swift is the one who invited him to use that relationship. She’s the one who put him in her video and brought him to her show. She encouraged it!😊
But Tom Felton actually is working. He's doing West End productions. Yeah he's not in movies and his social media content is mostly HP, but acting in West End shows is still a job.
I feel bad for Tom Felton because really, I don't think anybody besides his castmates understands how living that experience was, not even other actors. The fact that he was so young when he started playing the role, and that became his whole life ever since, it's honestly baffling, and yeah they all got fame and money out of it but the psychological effects that had on them... like you can't escape Harry Potter even know, imagine back then when it was at the height of its popularity. Honestly I just hope he's okay and that he keeps doing things that make him happy, same with all the HP child actors tbh.
I don't think we need to feel bad for him. He's the only one mature enough in the cast to embrace Harry Potter rather than try to escape it. You cannot escape a book series that changed the publication culture and made the first author-billionaire. It is bigger than all Harry Potter actors. He also backed the author and respected her right to have an opinion without biting the hand that fed him. That takes moral fortitude and public risk. He's also worth multiple millions of dollars and never needs to work. I think people misinterpret his interest in Harry Potter as a reader and his embrace of the luck he was dealt as a kid to mean he's trying to live in his prime or fame. He's just a normal guy with normal struggles who gets typecast by stupid LA casters, doesn't mean he's not a great actor. Anyone who has seen his work and how he held his down can see he's talented, honestly, more than the trio of Harry Potter. If you watch the movies as an adult you can see he's clearly the best actor. Do we all forget the way we lived our teen years? No, but no one want to hear of it. Difference with him his that people who want to year of his life as Draco between 11-23. That's a long time. His indulging of a fan base that still makes his character viral is a gift, not something pathetic. It also speaks to how well he played that role.
@@marybarton2011What a strange comment. There’s absolutely no maturity in clinging on to a thing that people associate you with; all this is, is either 1) him clinging to the one thing that brought him the most adoration/fame/validation or 2) being held captive by people like you who refuse to see him as an actual person, and not just a Harry Potter prop. Also, his position of taking no position isn’t brave at all; saying “well everyone has a right to an opinion” is the safest opinion, usually
His brother was an actor and he grew up wanting to do it. He used to work at a fishing place with his family members on weekends and I think he comes from a very grounded family; which is probably why he’s not like the other ungrateful woke actors from HP.
Former child stars are truly in the toughest position. They gave up their schooling to work, sometimes they didn't even see the money that they did earn from those years working, and streaming has killed residuals. They're too famous to have regular public-facing jobs (and their bullshit GED won't get them a more technical job), and if they aren't getting cast they're screwed. Half the time they aren't getting cast BECAUSE of the child role. So good for them with getting that bag through a rewatch podcast.
@@auroraborealis6671 fame's a hell of a drug, I guess. Plus to be fair, for many of them, acting is their dream and they've managed to actually get a taste of it. Giving up must seem so...sad.
Also people should talk about Bridgit Mendler more cause, not only was she a great actress on Disney Channel and had a relatively good small singing career but then she went back to education, eventually getting into MIT AND a HARVARD LAW SCHOOL CLASS??! @@caseyaonso4270Lol! He did martial arts when he was a kid. That’s actually how he became an actor. Someone saw him and thought he would be a good actor and I think connected to an acting agent!
i feel like it’s ridiculous to criticize celebrities for being out of touch while also making fun of celebrities who are past their peak, or in between projects, or trying something new, or have whatever other reason, for working a “regular” job. like which is it. and then if they try to do something in between, like a podcast, it’s a cash grab and they’re trying too hard to hold on to fame. i feel like once the public eye has caught sight of you once you’re no longer allowed to go anywhere but up or you’re ridiculed.
Perfectly stated. I think most of us plebs have experienced losing a job, or having our income drop due to whatever external factor. But because we're not in the public eye, we're able to deal with it without being subjected to public scorn. But celebrities are expected to be commodities during their prime, and objects of ridicule immediately after. It's unfair and enraging. As Stephen King put it in "Bag of Bones": "Didja think we paid ya the big bucks just to sing a song or swing a Louisville Slugger? Wrong, asshole! We pay so we can be amazed when you do it well - whatever 'it' happens to be in your particular case - and also because it's gratifying when you fuck up. The truth is you're supplies. If you cease to be amusing, we can always kill you and eat you". Fandom is so weirdly predatory.
i’d love to see your pov on zendayas career, from disney actress to mainstream super star. i feel like her transition was so sudden and it was so weird to see as someone who started watching her on shake it up lol
@@aeoligarlic4024 True, but her often playing a teenager doesn't really change that though. She looks pretty young for her age, so it makes sense that she still plays a teenager sometimes.
People don't seem to realize that, at least for actors, half their job is just waiting for people to get back to them. You gotta use that time between gigs doing something
@@Chris-ot9bk& Despite the beloved “new actors” who get the spotlight fairly quickly, it’s pretty important for an actor who intends to stay in the business to have some kind on constant flow of recognition & spotlight, preferably not in a bad way, though some producers will go for that too, lol.
Yes, also being an actor and celebrity are very different things. Not all actors are here to be celebrities, 90% are not in the spotlight but it doesnt mean we're not working!
This! if you go to a lot of theatre/acting threads, a lot of actors (not only film, but TV, theatre, broadway, opera, voice, etc.) often work other jobs in between gigs or 'roles' - some part time as programmers/techs, others do 'streaming', a few Broadway/Opera actors teach Music part-time. Acting isn't a 9-5 job with a schedule for you the entire week through, some weeks go on where your agent doesn't have any roles for you but food still needs to be on the table.
Legit, this reminds me of Alyson Stoner's "Dear Hollywood." She talks in depth about child celebrity as a cultural phenomenon, and basically how it affects the actual child well into adulthood. I highly recommend it! This is a topic more people should talk about thoroughly.
@@DavidMartinez-ce3lp People that actually have respect for their fellow human beings do. But you have a Hooters playlist on your channel so I guess you don't know what that means.

I actually feel bad for Tom Felton he had publicly said that he has trouble getting roles after Harry Potter, and the ones that I did see him in were minor villain roles
i've always found the idea of "washed up" celebrities interesting. in my mind, it stems from the capitalist value of exponential growth. like when you see someone posting a picture of a former star working at a cash register, they get mocked. like, their peak is over, they can never reach it again, and that's okay. our society will worship these people as demigods and then mock them when the adoration that they themselves provided (inevitably) dries out. idk. it's just something i always think about when people mock celebs for working normal jobs or for doing things like this, where they are capitalizing on their former success
some of these comments are honestly disheartening. "x is jobless." mary, they're working under capitalism. sure, maybe they once had some money (though, as we've seen with the recent strikes, many of them are not paid their dues), but i would guess that many of them are working the same gig economy jobs as you. fame (and in this case, former fame) does not equal riches for the rest of your life. yeah, it's cringy sometimes. but isnt your service job, taking insults from customers every day, also humiliating? idk. this attitude rubs me the wrong way
No, this is so fucking true. As if celebrities because of their job somehow had more inherent value than those same people have later, when theyre working “regular” jobs. Extremely gross way to think.
What’s interesting to me is that harper’s actor was a nurse during covid. She had a pretty respectable job that no one would clown on her for doing and could play it off as “helping ppl is my calling” if the acting didn’t work out
tom felton’s memoir was so good! he talked about his life before during and after harry potter, growing up as an actor, his family, and his struggling with alcoholism. it’s actually got quite a content variety. i cried reading it.
What kind of kills me is that Tom Felton is a good actor. The half blood prince is HIS film, he held his own in scenes with some of the best actors in the world
he is still a regularly working actor, just mostly in stage productions and smaller movies. I think a lot of it is the hype from Draco Tok and his book from a couple of years ago. people forget that before 2020 he had completely disappeared from the public eye for the most part.
He's hardly in those movies though, I don't get the hype. He has like 28 mins of screen time through the whole franchise. It's not surprising that he's irrelevant
@@maddyc2412 and he was still iconic? let it go, he is rich, popular, gets his bag regularly on other roles and will be forever remebered as a character on one of the most successful franchises of all times. cope
Tom Felton is very aware that his relevance started and ended with Potter. He keeps up the act that he's still in-universe because it's occurred to him that it makes people happy. While I'm not HUGE on celebrity memoirs, I think his was a great glimpse into both HP and the differences in the Hollywood Machine vs. other countries when it comes to child actors.

Tom Felton is so lovely. I worked at a pub/restaurant he frequents in London for a while and it seems he uses his “jobless” status to keep a low profile and have a few pints with his friends on the weekends. But it’s sad to see so many child actors or young adults that get a big break suddenly end up with nothing. Especially when their costars get constant roles and recognition! Thank you for highlighting this.
Tom felton still does a couple of movies every few years, he recently starred in london on broadway, he has another play due in summer. And is the face of londons 'the gunpowder plot' and voice introduction for londons harry potter world. He attends comic-cons and as you mentioned, published a book. Hes a pretty busy guy. Yes he leans into the draco role but if you follow his career he's definitely not 'unemployed'
Thank you for the confirmation. Based on several comments, I think he just wants to make Potterheads happy. 🥲 Bet he's really drained out of the only character he is generally known for, despite how much he still makes from it & keeps it alive.
I genuinely enjoy the wizards pod. It’s somewhat comforting, bittersweet but chill. I enjoy hearing them talk about their experiences and the individual episodes. I also love seeing some cast members join in to the podcast. It feels very genuine and heartfelt. They obviously enjoyed the show and love talking about it. It’s a staple piece of childhood, this is definitely a right way of making a podcast.
I just love Taylor Lautner. He just does back flips, loved his wife, hands out with Taylor Swift who invites him and his wife to concerts and shows and to be in her videos... Like he seems like just a little guy!!!!
i had a crush on him since i was a kid and watched everything he's in. The fact he's friends with his ex and they all hang out is a great sign of a man tbh. One of them had a Draco Malfoy portrait tattoo. Another one of them had brought a snake-themed (HOPEFULLY COSTUME BUT THEY CLAIMED IT WAS REAL) wedding ring to propose to Tom with. solely from imagining what his life was like after those films, idc how much money he earned, i pity the guy.
Didn't he also literally have to get a restraining order against some man who was stalking him as a teenager and wanted to "adopt" him. Lord only knows what weird shit he went through as a child star.

If people just understood how underpaid actors and singers are, they wouldn't be confused by the side hustles. The labels and CEOs are the highly paid ones for the most part. There's only a very select few artists who make it big (and are able to keep it secure).
Seriously. The SAG-AFTRA strike really highlighted this. Both the pay and the perception that having like a role on a television series means you're set for life.
Boohoo, yeah right I'm crying about people who chose that business being "underpaid" when even tv actors make thousands of dollars and episode, let alone film actors.
As an actor, it is not easy getting jobs. A lot of people want a big break, a lot of people want the same roles. There are always new people coming in. Like every job system, the movie industry is challenging at times and people need income. Being called a "celebrity" is just a title. I really do sympathize, because being an actor is a working and paying job in most cases. Sometimes it isn't. Plus "wait times" in between films are crazy. And some people just take time from filming because it is a lot of work. Its not because jobs are far and few between. People think actors just sit in front of a camera, but the craft of it can be demanding belive it or not.
I think that the pioneers of the revival of old tv shows through podcasts are Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey from the Office Ladies podcast! They really set this whole movement in motion and allowed all of these celebrities to revive their careers and make a little extra cash. They set the precedent of rewatching episodes, providing commentary, and inviting co stars. Now we have a Boy Meets World pod, The OC, Ned’s Declassified, etc.
As someone that was a failed actor in a previous life the entire world and mindset of actors is “I need to find my next job NOW” even when they have what seems like security on a tv show. That shit can end FAST without warning. Sadly the threat of unemployment and irrelevancy permeates every pore and thought of most actors. Shit is ROUGH! lol
Yes! In Simu Liu's autobiography and Kal Penn's they mention this. Although Kal made the choice to leave Hollywood for politics for 4 years so he has some cool White House experience he can fall back on 😉

@@disneytoysr4fun975For a lot of acting jobs, there's usually a set time for it. I've heard this mostly from actors who do voicework, motion capture or minor TV/webseries roles but principal photography can be like 12 to 20 hours a day...for like 1 month. And then that's it, the actors have nothing else to do after that and unless they have another role lined up, they got to do something to put food on the table. It's why a lot of Broadway/theatre and sometimes Opera actors also do a lot of part time gigs like programming, waiting, barista at a coffee shop, teach, etc.

Then like a year later this podcast came out. So like...was that all fake? Did she apologize and it wasn't public or I didn't see it cause I wasn't looking it up?? It was really weird

I don’t think the Ned’s Declassified cast had to “resort” to bringing up those topics, rather they were honest about their life in that time. Honestly I side with Tom Felton. We can let him be. And he'll always be Draco in our hearts so there's that. What I find interesting is child actors in Hollywood most of the time develop a traumatic connection with their past roles and desperately try to outgrow it. If anything, Tom's behavior shows that he did enjoy himself as a child in that franchise.
Often times actors get typecasted on some roles and they'll try to outgrow said roles because they might not want to do that for the rest of their life, or other reasons. One recent example would be Chris Hemsworth on Furiosa, first time in pretty much his carreer at this point that he played an outright villain.
Tom Felton terrifies me. Like I know that you were a part of the biggest franchise of all time and I do like that he’s proud of his involvement but you cannot convince me that if he had been more booked and busy after HP, he would not be so hung up on it now. Like Daniel, Emma etc are also proud of HP and aren’t afraid to talk about it when mentioned but they have not made it their entire livelihood since because they’re actually employed and have moved on.
It's like middle aged men who can't stop talking about high school football. Like we get it, you were popular as a teenager/young adult, but what about what youre up to now buddy?
Might just be me assuming, but judging from his memoir (more accurately the uncarley video on it) he seems to regard HP as kind of the happiest time in his life, probably why he’s super attached to it and the other cast members have pretty much moved on. Also doesnt help that Dracotok is a thing
I like how we all unanimously love Tom Felton in the comments. If he can't get away from Harry Potter, then I hope HBO will give him a role in the upcoming series. He would play the hell out of Lucius if they let him.
he supported and defended JK Rowling. i’ll take daniel, emma, rupert, and so many other cast members that took an active stance against transphobia instead of this dude who supports her despite not even taking the time to educate himself. i’m sorry but he just gives the energy to me at least that he only cares about his legacy in regard to Harry Potter in a way the others don’t.

I find it interesting that there are no replacements for these people for newer Generations. Like who is the new Justin Bieber? Taylor Swift? One Direction? What’s the new Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl or Twilight? Yes they’re all jobless but at the same time, they’re not being replaced either
Nowadays at least from my perspective most kids are more interested in influencers rather than celebrities because influencers are just regular people with more money and Internet clout they aren’t household names or anything
Music Kids these days like: Olivia Rodrigo, all those K Pop groups, Billy Eilish, The Weeknd Tv shows kids these days like: Euphoria, Wednesday Stranger Things Kids are still out there being kids and consuming media. You're just old now so you don't see that stuff in your day to day life. I'm in my late 20s and don't have a lot of younger friends, so IDK what kids are into these days either, but they still have their culture and big mainstream media things they're into. Culture did not stop with your genetation. You're just not experiencing the new generation.
so important to consider the financial realities of being a child star. I don’t think he gets much money from the movies, he’s only onscreen for like 30 minutes in all 8 films total. Plus with the movies being available for streaming, actors get no residuals from those. I think the only ones getting paid well enough are the trio.
He lost a lot of the money he gained from that in bad money handling as a teen. He gave his family a bunch of cars and stuff and fully admits he lost that money because he spent it badly 😅 plus he expected to get more big roles because what child actor who had that amount of fame doesn’t expect to have an easier time with movies and stuff. He talked about it in his book where he explained that it was a hard reality to face that that wasn’t going to happen

He’s in one of my favorite Studio Ghibli movies with Patrick Stuart.
Yep!! Even when watching the movie I could tell what scenes would have fit for Dylan. Honestly glad he wasn’t in it because the movie ruined the series for me.
What sucks is when you're lucky enough to land a role that can last for years because there will be that point in time when that job is gone and not only are you struggling to find a new job but people will just define you as that one character and you can either embrace it or try to remove yourself far from it.

"Ned's declassified adulthood survival guide" just sounds more believable. You people here just can't appreciage it bc you love predatory shows like victorious better
I always don’t want to be mean to these people because the entertainment industry is very hard to get in to begin with, let alone have longevity. But it’s hard not to cringe sometimes at these people. But I don’t like being mean 😂 it’s like “I peaked in high school” on steroids
Almost every actor uses their initial fame/connections to already famous people to boost their career, so what these people are doing isn’t wrong or anything, but it is a bit pathetic to see them cling to it despite it being obvious to everyone that it isn’t working😂 Like a few years is understandable, but a decade is too much lol
Never been a Harry Potter fan. Never read the books and only saw one movie, but I feel for Tom Felton. He’s got that “smiling on the outside, dead on the inside” vibe to him. He kind of seems like a very sad person who can’t move on from that happy time in his life.
the thing that's so funny is that paul has a job, he's literally a main character in a star trek show, I'm like when do you have time to do all those stories? and also never stop they're hilarious!
As much fun as it is to say its cringy and weird that stars are trying to cling to the fame of their past, I think something to note about these child/teen stars is that the period in which they were famous, they likely never got any real monetization out of their hard work. Their parents basically leeched most of the money off of them and didn't leave much left in their trust funds the parents are required to have for their child/teen stars. If I were a child star, I would see these podcasts, and other forms of monetization they can use off of their previous roles as form of therapeutic catharsis as they are taking back a form of their childhood as theirs and NOT Disney/Nikelodeon/etc.
Yes! And I find it so funny the double standard that most of this comment section has for this sort of thing. When child stars create podcasts and reactionary content or make their standout role their personality, people say that they're being greedy or can't move on when really it can be a form of taking power back. Yet when Taylor Swift re-recorded like 6 of her albums even though she's already a billionaire so that she could claim ownership of them again, she's an icon?
Last summer I went to a concert in London and the support act brought out Tyler Posey as a surprise guest where he proceeded to play guitar and sing with her for two songs. Was the most random celebrity moment I've ever witnessed
The way Jennifer went on to say Alexa Nikolas was lying about her trauma to play the victim when she pretended to be the victim when she was called out for racism and she blamed it on her poor mental health isn't lost on me.

Not gonna lie. My teenager self was disappointed when in an interview Tom Felton wanted to study something about fisheries. I was like "no don't stop acting". But now as an adult I wish he did pursue his passion so he would have a plan B in his career which he also loves Edit: Tom is actually a decent singer and has uploaded songs here in RUclips more than 10years ago. I think the channel was Feltbeats but it was kinda abandoned for a long time so I unsubscribed to it. He didn't heavily rely on the fame of his character of Draco in the past or HP in general. He did try getting other roles but so far the ones that I did find were him typcasted as a bad boy only
I absolutely adore Tom Felton and his content. He seems like a genuine person who cares about his work and his fans. He is still doing movies and theatre and honestly he is one of the most talented actors I’ve seen. Super underrated- I love Tom. Gonna be getting his book soon. He’s definitely not jobless, but loves bringing joy to his fans.
My view, as long as they aren’t harming others……I WANT THE CRINGE. It’s like getting weird tea from the popular kids years later. Like when you open up Facebook and two of them are openly beefing about things that happened in high school even though they are 30 now.
Same. People dont understand why messy celebrity drama is so fun to read like karen this is my escape from reality, if rich and famous people cant keep their shit together then I dont have to either😭
There is something kinda hilarious, and a tad bit depressing seeing how many celebrities, especially ones from childrens/teens shows that essentially have to beg for their shows to be renewed or hop on podcast to remain relevant.
i remember seeing a tiktok of jimmy fallon that he made with taylor launter a year ago where they remade the infamous twilight “where have you been luca” scene and i think one of the greatest punishments is this bs. having one peak popularity role in a tv show/movie (franchise), and that’s all you’re known for now. you’re never casted in another tv show or movie that’s anywhere near as popular as the one you had in that one peak popularity tv show/movie. you’re like a one hit wonder. any time you make a video, no matter what you’re doing in it, everyone in the comment is gonna be bringing up that one role you had. i think that’s one of the greatest shame one could feel. and i feel really bad for the “washed up/jobless” celebrities that are going through exactly this. if i was one of those celebrities, i wouldn’t even have public social media accounts.

he made joblessness into a job
This is an interesting and fair take on this situation 👏🏾👏🏾
I only associate Robert Pattinson with that meme of him in that tracksuit now
But doesnt he wanna be his own person though? Draco isn’t exactly a person you’d want to be lmao
Emma Watson was literal Bella from Beauty and the Beast, a DISNEY live-action, you can't get bigger than that. But yeah, agree with everything else.

This genre of celebrity honestly just makes me sad. It just shows how brutal and unapologetic the entertainment industry is, and how much people are willing to cling to any amount of fame they can hold onto.

He's sitting on 20 million from Harry Potter. If there is more money on the table, requiring very little effort from him, why not take it?
His brother was an actor and he grew up wanting to do it. He used to work at a fishing place with his family members on weekends and I think he comes from a very grounded family; which is probably why he’s not like the other ungrateful woke actors from HP.
Former child stars are truly in the toughest position. They gave up their schooling to work, sometimes they didn't even see the money that they did earn from those years working, and streaming has killed residuals. They're too famous to have regular public-facing jobs (and their bullshit GED won't get them a more technical job), and if they aren't getting cast they're screwed.

Acting isn't a 9-5 job with a schedule for you the entire week through, some weeks go on where your agent doesn't have any roles for you but food still needs to be on the table.

i've always found the idea of "washed up" celebrities interesting. in my mind, it stems from the capitalist value of exponential growth. like when you see someone posting a picture of a former star working at a cash register, they get mocked. like, their peak is over, they can never reach it again, and that's okay. our society will worship these people as demigods and then mock them when the adoration that they themselves provided (inevitably) dries out. idk. it's just something i always think about when people mock celebs for working normal jobs or for doing things like this, where they are capitalizing on their former success
some of these comments are honestly disheartening.

There's a fetishization of scarcity in our society, and a resistance to discussing how to handle envy. That's how we got here, and it is what it is until we accept it and transcend it

If people just understood how underpaid actors and singers are, they wouldn't be confused by the side hustles. The labels and CEOs are the highly paid ones for the most part. There's only a very select few artists who make it big (and are able to keep it secure).

Now we have a Boy Meets World pod, The OC, Ned’s Declassified, etc.
the paul wesley stray kids question just gets me without fail every single time
As someone that was a failed actor in a previous life the entire world and mindset of actors is “I need to find my next job NOW” even when they have what seems like security on a tv show. That shit can end FAST without warning. Sadly the threat of unemployment and irrelevancy permeates every pore and thought of most actors. Shit is ROUGH! lol
That reminds me of how apparently half of The Office actors kept their jobs while filming the first season because none of them thought it would stick
Yes! In Simu Liu's autobiography and Kal Penn's they mention this. Although Kal made the choice to leave Hollywood for politics for 4 years so he has some cool White House experience he can fall back on 😉
@@allisontamayo9048how is that even possible when acting jobs take so much of your time. Like you can literally be on set for 12 hours
@@disneytoysr4fun975 You’d be surprised, but a lot of actors take up part time jobs (not crazy rich A-lost actors, but people who aren’t as well known). It’s unfortunately a common thing for artists (music, theatre, art, etc) to do because it doesn’t make a lot of money.

The thing that weirded me out the most about the Ned's Declassified podcast was that I distinctly remember the woman who plays Moze being called out for like...making fun of specifically black girls, not adult women, girls on her Tiktok and she double downed so hard she ended up "quitting social media." Then like a year later this podcast came out. So like...was that all fake? Did she apologize and it wasn't public or I didn't see it cause I wasn't looking it up?? It was really weird
Yea I remember she was super for Trump when he was running for president too :/
she goes over some of that on the podcast. She has a personality disorder and was an addict and now is clean and figuring out how to get her personality disorder in check. So, ya she definitely screwed up in the past but seems to be making real progress on herself.
@@new0newsAs someone who studies psychology having a personality disorder doesn’t make you racist??? It makes you do/say some wild things but it’s not an excuse for racism, you’re aware of what you’re doing while you’re going through mania.

I think spouting nonsensical racist mumbo-jumbo is kinda wild tbh, added to the fact she was probably untreated with a personality disorders as she said it... idk. It just seems odd to me. Do you think people with Tourette's that say slurs randomly due to their ticks are racist as well? (I don't but I'm trying to get an idea of what you think)
If she gets help, gets medicated etc and turns out to be an unapologetic racist anyway then completely disregard what I just said. But if she has a total shift in ideology due to her now being healthy and clear of mind, then what? Was she ever really racist or was it her personality disorder making her say and do things that are wild?
@@honinakecheta601tbh i think the point to be made is yes, people can do bad things due to their disorder and eventually change, but it doesn’t mean that everyone has to automatically forgive them or be comfortable w their actions. I can be sympathetic to her struggle, and can hope for better but ultimately people were still hurt by her actions and are allowed to deal w that, just as much as she’s allowed to grow and change. both are valid.
I don’t think the Ned’s Declassified cast had to “resort” to bringing up those topics, rather they were honest about their life in that time. They, unlike many Nick shows, were not sexualized by the production and staff or made to be competitive, which allowed them to be comfortable with each other and exist as actual teen’s.

Like Daniel, Emma etc are also proud of HP and aren’t afraid to talk about it when mentioned but they have not made it their entire livelihood since because they’re actually employed and have moved on.
this comment is what made me realize tom felton and tom hiddleston are not the same person
They're also rich enough to never work again.
Also doesnt help that Dracotok is a thing

the new Taylor Swift is still Taylor Swift
Nowadays at least from my perspective most kids are more interested in influencers rather than celebrities because influencers are just regular people with more money and Internet clout they aren’t household names or anything
Olivia Rodrigo and Heartstopper are two examples
Isn’t Taylor Swift more popular now than she’s ever been? Lol
