Maybe its just me.. but i hear so many people in general say that judo doesnt work in mma or without a gi and yet everytime when i do see a judo throw in mma its most of the time very smooth and effective, whereas the amount of time i see wrestlers struggling against the cage to get to a single leg or double leg is way greater.. this might be relatable if you watch alot of mma, but most of the time i see wrestlers in mma end up in a clinch position while working down to get to the legs, while that initial clinch position seems so perfect for some throws. (sorry for long rant)

The difference between judo and wrestling is that judo is basically wrestling with a jacket and a philosophy. To me wrestling is like two bulls locking horns, just trying to move push each other, whereas judo teaches you to sense your opponents balance and attack them there. I like both.
@Rocky racoon Tadd reading this comment reminded me so much of tony ferguson, also i think you misinterpreted my meaning. i was only talking about the use of judo in mma since clinch throws work more often then they get credit for, last ufc 251 for example there were 2 judo throws and they were both very smoothly done.

I know this video is about islam but it reminded me how ruthless khabib was on taking down people and his ground control, but judo for me was his perfect complishment and i don't think many people know this. Khabib and islam both have insane judo

Great video . Judo to me is the base of every effective grappling art. It’s been studied so meticulously and categorized something that wrestling unfortunately does not have yet.
@Burger Kang the argument is that Almost all judokas that were in mma were not even that high of a caliber and didn’t get into the sport until they had so much wear and tear on their bodies and what not. Wrestling is a better base for mma but if you actually read my comment properly I said judo is the best base for grappling as a whole not fighting (mma).

makhachev uses sambo/ juso well because of combat sambo competetitions - for example footsweep counter against knee - no grappling style would teach you that .
Also Islam have pure sambo trows as like Obviv but Chadi didnt bring it here
Islam is actally a black belt judoka. It's been confirmed from a newly released video of Islam performing ippon seoi nage uchikomis followed by a juji gatame. He is observed wearing a blue judo gi with a black belt properly tied. He was trained by Abdulmanap, who is the father of Khabib. You can clearly observe Islam executing judo throws in his MMA fights.
Its very amazing how Islam be able to use all these technique in MMA. Very impressive
he competed at combat sambo most of his life. Just check combat sambo highlights - there are almost same style - striking and trows

More like knee osoto since there is little hip to hip contact.
Khabib did a cross body O-soto Gari.

I think that harai goshi is almost definitely an o guruma, seeing as uke is being wheeled around an outstretched leg.
For my own understanding, especially during the lockdown, I have been doing breakdown of the throws. As a Judo fan more than anything.
So Sasae is Pulling the COG while blocking the base.
Harai is more of Kicking off the base of support.

Harai is more of blocking with your hip then sweeping with your leg

you have to be honest most of his trows have wrestling or sambo grips, Judo prefers Gi grips but in sambo they mostly gets closer and makes wrestling grips (overtie /under or overhooks)

Kuchiki is more like a knee/hamstring pick, while holding the lapel, you're not technically reaping with both hands
@@Chadi yeh true I mistaken the dead tree which kuchiki daoshi means for the leg as you drop toward the leg and not for the body that someone drops like a dead tree and the base technique is what you say. Misconception! When you try to translate techniques from different arts and languages often mistakes can happen.
