    Gonna come back to these videos when I finally get a guitar. I forgot how fun these videos are, even just to listen to. So many ideas. Thanks Assaf!

      @@tedpeterson1156 I'm not even close to getting one that soon unfortunately 😅. I'm still saving up for a bit longer until I can afford a good new one. Saw a Cort and a Washburn that could fit the bill but I wanna keep looking.

    I appreciate you and your lessons my musical brother. I have an extra guitar laying around that I'm gonna have to do this to.

    That's a very interesting sound. A bit frustrating if you only have one guitar like me, imagine changing the 5th string after every practice!

    So interesting. So many songs and moods you call to mind. Around 5:48, I hear The Police 'Miss Gradenko' among many other things.... now I may have to go restring a guitar... cool.

    Technically an A#, if you're considering it as E Lydian. ;)

    • @educostanzo
      @educostanzo 3 года назад +1

      Exactly! Lydian is the "brightest" mode, you can't just have a flat in it.

    • @noisebrick9248
      @noisebrick9248 3 года назад

      @@educostanzo that's not really it, it's just because theoretically Lydian mode has a sharp 4 and not a flat 5, which is the same thing in practice but not in theory.
      In other words to get the Lydian scale you only raise the 4th (which is the A becoming A#, if you're in E) the 5th stays the same (the B in this case).
      You can also see it as the B major scale starting from E, but people tend to steer away from that thinking

    • @educostanzo
      @educostanzo 3 года назад

      @@noisebrick9248 Essentially we're talking about the same thing with different words. The modal spectrum theory organizes the modes according to the number of sharps or flats, so Lydian is the "brightest" mode with one sharp, followed by Ionian with no sharps or flats, Mixolyidian with one flat, so on and so forth, until Locrian, the "darkest" mode with 5 flats. So yeah, it's confusing to call it Bb if you're in Lydian, because Lydian is all about sharpening one degree. :)

    I'm not sure if my 12 string could handle that! But what you can do on a 12 string is tune the courses to 5ths...

    it sounds pretty. i have extra guitars, I'll have to try it. I finger pick like that sort of that.
    It's also one of the reason I like to play in E MAJOR/C#min as a GUIDE.
    I also know different scales to know all 12 notes work...it's just different sounds to me
    or different CADENCE..
    example...I'll make the C# sus 2/9 chord shape at the 4th fret..with Open high E.
    But it's actaully a C# min add 2 chord
    The magic happens when I simply place my MIDDLE finger on the D note 5th fret A string.
    On paper...there's 4 cluster note.lol
    i'll also do this....C# aug traid with open B and E
    but the High E is b3 or #9 of C#.lol
    I could easily say it's C# phry b4 of A Harmonic MAJOR ( b3 and b4)
    into F# min chord...Then G# min to C# min
    I'll also play D maj7 F min..G# min C# min
    or I'll play F Maj...less the barr ..then C# aug triad
    Then.....D Maj7 ( barr at 2nd fret)
    Then....G# min
    Then ...C# min
    The notes are ascending chromatically on the A string. lol
    I can play in B Major/G# min ( E lydian)
    not in that tuning..but that makes sense to me, easier.

      low to high: E A# E G# B E. Except he called the A# "Bb", which is technically incorrect for E Lydian, because it's a B string tuned down a half step; he said an A string tuned up a half step wouldn't sound as nice.
