One of the greatest baseball players ever! I was hoping he could get to 700 before he retired and people thought I was crazy for saying it. Never underestimate the heart of a champion! Pujols was such a joy to watch!
Was actually hoping he would get to 700 doubles also to join Speaker, Rose, Musial and Cobb. The line drive type of hitters that are different from the homerun hitters like Bonds, Aaron and Ruth. Albert would have joined both clubs had he done that but alas, he missed it by 14 doubles. Think his lack of speed stopped him as I'd watch him line a shot off the wall and end up with only a single many times in the last few years. Boy will I miss watching him hit in the 2023 season...
This man was born to hit, we will never forget such glory for a clean and upright player! he is among the top three in history. Thank you MLB for this video.
Lifelong Cardinals Fan have so many memories of Albert Pujols will never forget his last year in 2022 I got to see him had a couple of home runs last year and one game that was great next stop Cooperstown congratulations
Watching him hit #703 and passing Babe Ruth in one fell swoop...seeing it live in the stands...wow. It's a memory I'll never forget. I never thought I would see someone ALL ALONE in 2nd place with career total bases and RBI AND hit more than 700 home runs. He's the greatest player since Hammerin' Hank Aaron, and the greatest ballplayer of my generation.
Should have seen him in his first Cardinals life. He was easily the most amazing hitter you've ever seen. He never didn't fight as hard as he could. Ground outs were as loud as a bomb in the crowd. Contact was pleasure.
My favorite modern player of the past two decades! I was sure he'd hit 700+ home runs, and wasn't disappointed! What an awesome final year, in a LEGENDARY career! 😎
I would respect what He has accomplished. I was moved his performance. Mr.Pujols, I hope your baseball second career will be happy. Thank you Legend. Best regards Dominican republic 💟
This was a remarkable career by a good man. I grew up a Cardinals fan and it was an honor to watch him play. It feels like my childhood has came to a close after seeing my favorite player i grew up watching retire. I hope he comes back as a coach one day, one of the moat legendary careers in baseball history and i was honored to see a lot of it. First ballot HOFer. #themachine
I can’t believe that the season ended 2 and a half months ago already. It was such a wild ride and I’m glad to have witnessed this historic season for Albert Pujols.
Albert, if anybody ever earned retirement, it is you. From the moment you debuted in the MLB in 2001, your dedication to the game of baseball has been pretty obvious. Your diligence and pursuing excellence each and every game for 22 seasons has been remarkable. We have seen you go from a talented rookie phenom, to All Star, to World Series Champion, and to a veteran mentor. You have represented everything this beautiful game of baseball has to offer. You're 4th all time in HR's with 703, 2nd in RBI's with 2,218, and have over 3,000 hits. You were a WS Champ, you won the 2001 NL Rookie of the Year!!! Crazy!!! An absolute legend!!! While we will miss watching you play, we wish you nothing but the best of luck in the next chapter of your life. Enjoy retirement my friend. You've earned it!!!!
An extraordinary Journey for this great Baseball Player. Thanks for the moments...memories Albert! Thanks MLB for sharing this video with us the Baseball Fans around the world!
Not only did we say goodbye to 2 Cardinal greats but unexpectedly we lost a 3rd. I wish you the best Danny Mac and I hope you can get the help you need.
In his last season, at age 42, Barry Bonds was still the most feared hitter in the game. He led the baseball with a .480 OPS and finished 7th in NL with .565 Slugging Percentage.
Everyone knows Barry was on that juice. That's why even with those numbers, with many teams being able to use a DH, no one brought him in. All time great. All time locker room cancer.
Only way to watch Albert hit the long balls....plug in the headphones and turn the volume up to the point that it will most likely cause hearing issues down the road. Worth it!
As a lifelong Royals fan Puljols is the only Jersey I ever asked for at Christmas. I was wearing it today and heard he was baptized in the Jordan River. It would be great to see that footage ⚾
I truly believe if Albert had stayed in St.Louis he would have had 800 career homeruns! This man was something else. He averaged only 50 strikeouts a year . Man oh man he just crushed the ball! How can you not love this guy??? With all he accomplished this man should be a unanimous HOF candidate. He's up on baseball's Mount Rushmore with Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron. Im overwhelmed from watching this video clip of Albert just annihilating the baseball. Yes Babe Ruth has been gone from the game as a player for nearly 90 years but when your name is mentioned right alongside Babe Ruth you're definitely a living legend . That my friends is Albert Pujols. And I just want to say it again, HE ONLY AVERAGED ABOUT 50 STRIKEOUTS A SEASON!
His contract with the Cardinals allowed them to use Albert in situations where he could still rake. He hasn't been able to hit right handed pitching for about 5 seasons, but he never stopped killing lefties. The Angels had to use him everyday because of the money he was making.
The second half of the season he was crushing right handed pitchers too, he made an adjustment. That’s probably the biggest factor in him hitting 70 honestly.
Leg. End. (Yes, that was the pun.) I am so glad I got to see him play all the way back as a rookie to a first-ballot HOF career. We'll miss you even more Albert. (Please come back and be a hitting coach!) :D
Only one mistake in his amazing career: he changed the baseball team. If he had stayed at St. Louis all the time, he would have hit easily over 800 home runs👍🏾⚾️ My personal opinion!
469 out of 703 as a STL Cardinal!!!..I agree with you...When he left he had 445 would've just needed bout 355 to have got 800 career homers milestone all as a STL Cardinal...He got to 703 Career after leaving STL and rejoining..I also ponder what wouldve happened had he stayed...Would the Cardinals have won the 2013 postseason vs Big Papi Red Sox? Molina never technically robbed the Cardinals he got $163,000,000 over 18 years...He kept it under $200 million even when they let Pujols leave...Wainwright got $181 million in 18 years, a bit more than Molina but still under $200 million...People act like Pujols asked DeWitt for literally $500 million but thats not the case...He is used as a pin cushion by some fans for being greedy but to this day the STL Cardinals have never signed a free agent over 7 years $120 million yet...So to me the blame shifts to the GM and cheap ownership...
Go back to his MLB youtube highlight videos in August and you'll see me calling 703 in the comments. just made sense that he would do 24 in his final season as that was 2/3's his annual average. not sure how I came to that conclusion but I was right!
I feel like Albert isnt the greatest of all time because of the 700 hrs but the consistency throughout in his career even when he had a “down year” he was still an above average player and im sure we all knew this is how it would end
For all of the people reading this i do think Albert is a better hitter than Barry bonds even though barry bonds is a good hitter he just wasn’t as consistent as Albert what other player in the history of the mlb besides tony gwynn hit .300 for ten or more years
He wouldn't have been as good though. His counting stuff sure, but the reason he did so well in all of these appearances was because he wasn't wearing himself out playing every day
@@b1lly137 Ok but he would have been fine starting 125 instead of ONLY 85 or so with a lot of 1 AB PH duty factoring into the 109 GP mix @ only 351 plate appearances + he was the DH in most of his starts anyway with only 20 @ 1st base so the wear & tear was very limited! He would have had more homers & rbi without a doubt & the .270 average would have remained similar or gotten even better. He needed to play regularly to get comfortable & back in his groove & once he got in there on a daily basis for a while, not 1-2 times a week, he took off & you obviously saw it. Think that one over but he's retired & waiting for the call from the Hall in 5 years @ this point.
Still Bullshit that they don't play the John Rooney call on the replay, the only local call, the one that we all heard because it was on freakin Apple. Screw scheduling, MLB botches every important decision.
One of the greatest baseball players ever! I was hoping he could get to 700 before he retired and people thought I was crazy for saying it. Never underestimate the heart of a champion! Pujols was such a joy to watch!
thats what i thought. people so pessimistic about it and booom! they silence. once you are on record chasing you will never stop till u get it.

Absolutely
@blindcritic3309 remember that in 2020 pandemic strikes and only played 60 games that can play a part on why he didn't reach 700 doubles 😊
Thank You Albert Pujols He'll Always Be A Legend.
This man was born to hit, we will never forget such glory for a clean and upright player! he is among the top three in history. Thank you MLB for this video.
As a HUGE Astros fan, I know how good this legend was, especially in 04 and 05 NLCS
What a great career. He is an inner circle hall-of-famer and the second best player in my lifetime. Cheers from a Cubs fan.
I agree. He’s right behind Bonds
Lifelong Cardinals Fan have so many memories of Albert Pujols will never forget his last year in 2022 I got to see him had a couple of home runs last year and one game that was great next stop Cooperstown congratulations

Having him and Yadi go out together was so fitting. And for every moment you could tell it was emotional for Yadi. What a pair

The coolest part of that season was watching all the all-time greats he kept passing on various stat lines

This Astros fan appreciates his greatness, but also celebrates his departure. He will always be the number one “Astros Killer” of all time.
Wow!! One of the greatest ever
We will miss him.
Got to see 693 in Chicago , i remember the whole stadium was excited even the Cubs fans

Legend stats first 10 years (2001-2010)
AVG .300+ HR 30+ RBI 100+
He was called The Machine for a reason
Just imagine how that pitcher feel... "Damn I really gave this dude his 700th HR but its Pujols.. I'll be okay"
🤣🤣🤷🏾♂️
“I’ll be famous for something” lmao
Amazing! Happy I was around for this last season to see him.
Watched his entire run. Too bad covid cost him 100 games & # 714
Thank you Albert
He's legend!
THE MACHINE

Well said and I concur.
Chills.
An absolute joy seeing Al play ball almost half my life.
Gracias Albert ❤ para todo
Had one the better years in baseball history for a 42 year old player.
42ish...
@@bobjones1872 42? 😆😆

@@NatTurnerswitBurnerz I said he one of the better ones but Barry left the world in the dust!
Everyone knows Barry was on that juice. That's why even with those numbers, with many teams being able to use a DH, no one brought him in. All time great. All time locker room cancer.
Look at how many of these homeruns tied the game or gave the Cardinals the lead. Not too many were useless runs. They meant something to the team!
I wish he played longer and beat the Home Run Record. Especially with the Cardinals.
Sad to see him retire.
0.09 me and my cousins Chelsey Kaylynn Ryan and the kids were there that day and I hope that we'll be back soon this new mlb season
So many clutch moments

"Resurgence"? You mean he woke up from an 11 year hibernation!
When will that be? This season?
Albert who? Oh, you mean 'The Machine'....

Somebdy needs to fixed the close captions on this video. Some of the words don't match what the announcers are saying
It’s automated by RUclips. They are never accurate at all on every single video so you can’t “fix” them unless someone gets paid to do the captions

MLB juiced the balls in the games he played in towards the end of the season to make it easier to reach 700.
Lmao nobody can ever be happy… You just witnessed history that you will never see again in your lifetime and all you do is complain about success
