He was a Dodger a short time but he was very well lived and respected. Truly a class act
He only played for us for one season, but he had a huge impact on the chemistry of this Dodger ballclub. That's why he gestured to the Dodger bench with a hug. That was his thing last year. We loved him. We called him Tio Albert. So happy for him. It couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

at 7:05 he looks at the Dodger bench and expresses his gratitude and appreciation to them. It was the Dodgers who believed in him when they made the call to his agent after the Angels released him. Most in baseball thought he was done and in his own words it was the Dodgers who brought the kid and spark back to the game of baseball for him. He succeeded with them last year and honestly I think he did well enough to get one last contract with his original team. He reaches the 700 club wearing a Cardinals uniform at Dodger stadium where the fans understood the moment and reciprocated the appreciation. Shakespeare couldn't have written a better story then this. Congratulations Albert "Tio" Pujols for reaching that incredible milestone.

It is so insanely amazing that an away stadium gave him a standing ovation in a game their team was losing 5-0 realizing the kind of history that they have witnessed

I'm so happy my city gave him this much love, The Dodgers pulled him away from obscurity in Anaheim and revitalized his love for the game

i was born in '99, raised mostly in St. Louis. i was fortunate enough to witness his prime firsthand during my most formative years. guys like Yadi, Waino, Matt Holliday, and especially Albert were responsible for me falling in love with the game to begin with.

@@mhmh2493 In May last year the Angels DFA'd Pujols and after he cleared Waivers the Dodgers picked him up as a free agent for the rest of the season to be a fill in Firstbaseman and pinch hitter.

@Jason Cramer I think also cause Pujols played well for the Dodgers in his time there and also has stated that being on the Dodgers one was that their organization is first class and that being on the Dodgers really helped bring back his love and joy for the game.
Was at that game as a Life Long Dodger fan. I'll never forget it as long as I Live. Nobody cares that the Dodgers were losing. We just wanted Tio Albert to reach his Goal. What a beautiful moment in baseball. I'm so happy I was a part of it.

I’m an Astros fan, and It makes me feel old when I remember he played against Biggio, Bagwell and the 2004 and 2005 Astros, The Man has had a legendary career

There were some great series against the Astros back then. Those were some of my favorite to go to when they were in the same division. As a Cardinals fan, I immediately remember the Lidge game. (I imagine plenty of Astros fans do the same but with far different feelings about it.) The Killer B's were lethal & fun to watch. Biggio always seemed to have St Louis's number.

I so desperately wanted him to break the record in St. Louis but Dodger fans did a great job with the noise and celebration. I was convinced there was no way he was going to do it at the beginning of the season but man has the St. Louis post all-star game break magic happened once again. I'm so happy he did it.

Albert isn’t just a home run hitter, he’s played 22 seasons, has a .296 lifetime avg, over 2200 RBIs, almost 3400 hits, batted over .300 his first 11 years with several years being over .350, Rookie of the Year, 3 MVPs, multiple Gold Gloves and Silver Sluggers, 9 playoff appearances 6 being NLCS , 3 World Series and 2 World Series wins…. Just a home run hitter? He’s the best player of this generation and easily one of the all time greats. (Let’s also not forget this is in a much more difficult era where competition isn’t just white guys from the United States but a global game with the most finely tuned athletes that ever lived)
For me Ichiro was a better all around player. Most hits ever and 17 Gold gloves, but obviously Pujols is a better power hitter.

When I saw Mookie betts applause congratulating Albert Pujols' 700th home run, I was somehow moved. Seeing the respect for a legend who has done his best in the major leagues for nearly 22 years makes me feel mixed.

I was in a commercial back in 2009 for Give Kids a Smile with Pujols. It wouldn’t be right if he ended his career with any other team, this season has truly been magical.
