THANK YOU FOR THE EXCELLENT VIDEOS AND COMMENTARY ON YOUR PROJECTS. I'M SEMI RETIRED AND NEEDED SOME ME TIME. FOUND A BUNCH OF HOT WHEELS/MATCHBOX CARS THAT THE WIFE HAD STORED AWAY FOR YEARS TO GIVE TO OUR GRANDSON. SOME ARE IN PRETTY BAD SHAPE AND I'VE STARTED TO RESTORE/CUSTOMIZE SOME OF THEM. THANK YOU, I HAVE THE COURAGE TO GO FURTHER THEN JUST PAINTING THEM. DENNIS
In the future you can try a heat gun when stretching vinyl. I have friends who use it on full size cars, and i use it on custom computer builds, and a bit of heat and really make vinyl stretch and sit perfectly flat. great work and i like the restos!
That is a nice touch and you did a nice job too. I was around in the days of vinyl tops and they had a chrome strip around the edges, that could be painted on.
Very cool, I am not a collector (yet lol) but I like to pick up a old car I like now and then. like the Lesney jeep today for a dollar. However I think restoring and custom painting might be a fun Winter activitie, so next Saturday I am going to pick up a bunch of .25 and .50 cent cars.
Well I'm a wood worker and have no hot wheels or any other cars but you videos are so interesting that I sub'ed just to watch them. Great videos and information (I think). Keep it up!!
I like how the film looks as the roof but a simpler, easier to come by way of doing it is truck bed liner in a spray can, it will take a bit of practice to get it to spray out thin and evenly but it looks great finished, it also gives a sort of vinyl texture to the roof
Letraset spoon-shaped burnishers are fantastic at spreading films and letraset as well good for getting bubbles etc out of the film and don't cost that much.
I recently bought a real 69 Eldorado, I have been looking for a Hot Wheels Eldorado to keep in the car or maybe make a key chain out of, but its hard to find them these days.
It's amazing to me, that when I was a kid (in the '60's), I had 3 shoeboxes full of all these cars... I can't believe what they would be worth now... of course most of my collection was FUBAR from playing with them hard! In the dirt and bashing down our steep driveway. lol.
Nice vinyl roof !! I would love to know the name of the product. I will rewatch in case you mentioned it but I'm realy diggin the vinyl. I sent you a mesg about "spectra chrome" you are the pretty much the leading authority on "how to" refurbish castings and it would be cool to see you do a vidio using the spectra chrome. The equiptment needed to spray it yourself is over 5k so the obvious answer would be to find a shop that already has it and pay them but idk. I guess it may remain just a dream of mine. But if you would watch a couple vidios of spectra chrome being applied and i think you will see where I'm coming from.
You have a choice in life: drown in clutter or have space to live in; I chose the first and now have so much junk I can hardly think. You made the right decision. You can always buy those old cars back on ebay or elsewhere.
2 things to say... 1). Good job on the paint and roof... 2). It would be nice to see how you remove the chassis from the shell and how you resecure it once you have done the paint work etc...? thanks..
I would like to say that you do awesome work on your custom hot wheel cars I would like to see you do a motorized Hot Wheels car one day I have a couple extra cars that wouldn't mind donating to that custom work you can have them just like to see what you can do to them
Is there a gator grain texture thingy like this? I would like to make a replica of the "Black Ghost" I want to build a 1/25 scale car of the 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T S/E. That car has a gator grain roof and I would like to find a gator grain roof texture to apply on a 1/25 scale car.
I have a gold chrome 74 stingray whose paint is in similar condition to this, but I don't want to strip it and repaint it. Is there anyways to maintain the originality as much as possible?
You can polish the old paint and clean it up... ruclips.net/video/fyONNWhkg6s/видео.html You can remove the oxidation without taking the car apart.. ruclips.net/video/4rXMc9Bz3X8/видео.html
thank you, and i have a bunch of beat up black walls and hot ones the i would like to restore in the future, but i can't right now. i would like to send pictures of them though they need some worg but i need like an emil or something to send them to you
hey two things. one: you should try to play the film on a convertible that has the top down, it would add a nice detail to a car acting as a real rain cover for the top, rather than the standard plastic. another great thing is that it won't take much of the film material!. secondly I have to say that I'm inspired by you to try and start making my own customs and I was wondering if I could have an email so I can ask you some quick questions. thanks!
I have seen a lot of your work and its nice how you replate and spend time working on paint details BUT!!! - I would love to see you take a car and put an over amount of detail in it inot only then body but interior and grills/bumpers etc. just to see for a test of how far you can push the detail all over on a 1/64 model.
Why do you only do a light coat of paint? You can still see the metal below it.. What not do extra coats and a clear coat? Regardless I love you videos!
lol define light... I would guess this has on the order of 18-20 coats. The paints are very transparent... and seeing the metal underneath is what they are known for...I am not sure putting another 20 coats would do all that much... if you put on to many coats you start getting a cloudy effect in the paint.. I probably should not have clear coated this one as the clear coat makes everything even more transparent.
It is a nice car, and the new roof looks great, but where are all the panelllines from the doors? They hat gone completly by sanding of the corrosion from the body. You should have engraved/ rebuild the Panellines bevor painting.

Now that is something i would want on my shelf, very well done. Especially on the roof.
+KOSMOS1701A Thanks KOSMAS!
Man. Ive gotten addicted to watching these videos. I love your attention to detail.
I really like these videos because they are short and very entertaining and you don’t over explain the process and steps👍🏽
Longer videos man!! I can't get enough! 😂
The vinyl on the roof makes it look like a convertible. Well done
These videos are so satisfying
That roof turned out great👍👍
In the future you can try a heat gun when stretching vinyl. I have friends who use it on full size cars, and i use it on custom computer builds, and a bit of heat and really make vinyl stretch and sit perfectly flat. great work and i like the restos!
Great Idea thanks!!
Looks like new to me. You do great work. Must have a lot of practice

Wow!! Turned out great! 👍🏼
That is a nice touch and you did a nice job too. I was around in the days of vinyl tops and they had a chrome strip around the edges, that could be painted on.

Asombroso!!! Una belleza excelente tutorial gracias!!!
You are a god at this.

It's a beautiful piece in the great job
That vinyl film is cool. You could use that for 1/24 plastic model kits too.
I love that vinyl top ... LOOKS GREAT : )
Excellent!
Nice job on this one
I would like to suggest that you try this film on a 2016 ford mustang gt350r in the new mainline

Hot Wheels. dailen,
This is something i would do with one of my favorites, although i do not think i have the exact tools and solutions around here.
Letraset spoon-shaped burnishers are fantastic at spreading films and letraset as well good for getting bubbles etc out of the film and don't cost that much.
Amazing
amaziing ;)

I have looked everywhere I can think of for the vinyl top material you used and can't find it anywhere. Any suggestions?

You make me wished I would have kept all my hot wheels from the 60's , I just didn't have the vision.
The textured paint you used on the Deora's bed area would have done good on the roof of this one, just saying

how do you paint do you paint with a brush?

I found a 68 Pontiac gto, but absolutely NO RUST apparently.

What do you use for axel material?
You can try using the film for a bed liner look to some trucks
Where do u get that vinyl top
2 things to say...
1). Good job on the paint and roof...
2). It would be nice to see how you remove the chassis from the shell and how you resecure it once you have done the paint work etc...?

I would like to say that you do awesome work on your custom hot wheel cars I would like to see you do a motorized Hot Wheels car one day I have a couple extra cars that wouldn't mind donating to that custom work you can have them just like to see what you can do to them
Yes amazing customs and a great job producing these videos
cool
I know this is an older post, but could one not get the same affect using texture coat paints ... even if they had to be repaint for proper color ?
I need to restore my 2014 corvette stingray hot wheels. Its got a bent wheel and a few scratches.
i have one of those and it is painted similarly but with paint instead of a sticker for the roof
The spray Berliner from auto store spray cans would look just like vinyl on the cars just hold it about a foot away when spraying
"You jiven?? A playa like me, gots to have a ride like this. You dig me blood?? Out of sight, I tell ya. Out of sight!!!"
You want to thank people for subscribing if they have not? Haha. Awesome videos btw.
A root beer Hot Wheels car…nice

Can you make a video on what to do with the rivits you drilled out and how to make it seem like they are on

Try a heat gun on the vinyl next time. It'll form fit perfectly with light heat

where do you get the cars

Cool video but you didn't put his link in the description.
working on it...
ok ^-^

I think that's the idea of spectreflame paint. Light coats and shiny metal underneath create the metallic paint look
Ahh that explains it. Keep em coming!
Not a bad custom, I love this series!
Is there a reason why they made the axles like that back then?
yes... they are far faster than cars today...
baremetalHW I've gotta get my hands on one then. I hope they make the axles like that for the 50th Anniversary set coming up
It is a nice car, and the new roof looks great, but where are all the panelllines from the doors?

Kinda like the blue color better. The "rootbeer" color is just vomitty. lol Anyhow, your work even in 2016 was great.
