    I’d say keep the original wheels because of that Mat red around the wheel. It looks heart warming to keep the aesthetic of the original wheels with that mango orange. I definitely can see how the chromes would look great but I’d have to say simply for the collectors aesthetic to keep the original. Hope this helps! I love your videos man :3

    I like those stickers, while they're not original they seem period correct, and it gives a bit of history to it

    that was in really good condition! nice find!! I think I would've left it in its original condition, even if it has those decals.
    the Mustang does look awesome now!! since it's got its plating, it looks as good as it did in '68

    IVE GOT NEWS FOR BAREMETALHW, I and im sure most of your subscribers arnt bored with nothing more than you going through and customizing/renewing hotwheels, each video is similar but not the same,i still get just as big of a buzz seeing the old rust buckets transformed into a thing of beauty,it never gets old for me
    SO MAKE MORE!!! 2 A WEEK WOULD BE JUST ENOUGH OF A FIX FOR ME

      Polly g think about how long it would take to do a complete restoration and edit a video for it. I'm sure this guy has a life outside of RUclips and he cant dedicate his full time to this. It's understandable. As long as we get a couple a month I'm fine with that.

    Restoring is an art form. Keeping an item as close to the original is what helps it maintain it's value. Changing the paint scheme may have done damage to the value, changing the wheels may make it worth less than you paid for it. Or like my uncle used to say.... An item is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. So, does it really matter. I say it does. Love your video's.

    beautiful job! I had an idea about removing stickers like that in the future. back when I was still actively building model cars, often times I might get a project that was covered in decals, stickers, or both. if I wanted to strip the paint off the car, it wasn't a big deal. if I couldn't do so without harming the car, and wanted the stickers gone my other option was to sand and risk damaging details. I was then turned on to a trick. if you take regular household mayonnaise, spread it on and around the sticker then let it sit, the oils in the mayonnaise should weaken the sticker making it easy to take off without harming the car or paint. when I was first told about that trick, I was very skeptical, but it really does work.

I had a Dodge Challenger 1968 with an open hood and I did restore it and recolored it black and red line and I painted the engine silver now it looks amazing ..❤️❤️ with the original wheels I just added shrink wrap [ shrinken ] on top of the wheel to renew it ...

      This is one of the very few times I've felt keeping the originals is better aesthetics than new/upgrades.

    In my view, restores and customs are more a work of art, separate from originals, so it is about display look. I think the repop wheels give the car a completely clean finish. Great work as usual sir, I do like the orange spectra. We do not get Testors spectraflame paint in Australia and it can't be imported here as far as I am aware, perhaps House of Kolor might have an equivalent in Oz.
    Thank you and keep up the stellar work mate.

    Keep the original wheels, if their only flaw is "not as shiny as new". I get the appeal of having new ones on a car with a new paint job, but these do look like the best original wheels I've seen on your restorations, and I think they're worth leaving be, at least for a while more.

    I think I prefer the original blue paint on this one as it was not badly chipped up.. Looks like the flaws in the base metal are more defined and the difference in the hood shows up more in the restoration.

  • @davidroberts283
    @davidroberts283 4 года назад

    I love what you do. I wanted to see how nice you could have got the car without taking it apart. I wanted to see how you would have restores the tail pan & front grille & base without removing the rivets. Also, the clear numbers on the side were unique. Even though they were yellowed, & the hood darkened, I find these items were unique, and authentic unto an original car. I thought the buff you did on the blue was awesome. The original wheels would have looked great with the original paint. I probably would have not touched up the wheels, only cleaned them with soap & water, letting the center cap wear reflect the same age as the blue paint. We would have ended up with a lightly used time capsule, similar to a garage find fastback Mustang with 60,000 miles on it, rare indeed. I cringed when you got out the drill. Oh well. Now, I think you should replace the wheels, to match the new finish. I am spoiled by how well your metal looks after multiple coats of zinc, 00 steel wool, then your deluxe buff. Normally you are fighting pitting. It would have been interesting to see how such a nice original metal finish would have come out with your multiple zinc coating treatment, since the original paint was removed anyway. I have not seen you do this process yet, take a near mint metal surface, and perfect it. I understand your desire to repaint, leaving a good metal surface original. You come across so few with such nice metal. Thank you for all you do. I am a disabled retired auto body painter & customizer. I am 61 years old. The last car I painted won the Seattle Roadster Show, 1st place. I think it was like 2001 or 2002. I enjoy watching yo go start to finish in about 20 min. Some of the cars I worked on took 9 months. It was brutal. Your work brings me much joy. I can not be around the chemicals anymore. May the Lord Jesus Christ be your guide, and your salvation. Many thanks and blessings, Sincerely, David.

    That US Aqua was really cool and I would have probably kept as it was however I am not a highly talented airbrush artist. US Aqua is usually brighter and lighter than HK Aqua which is generally much deeper and darker. You always do amazing work and no matter which camp one is in whether leaning more towards saving as many in original paint and as good condition as possible, or leaning towards restoring, your work is top shelf and I am sure it displays incredibly. I hope one day I can put one of your pieces proudly into my collection . Oh man keep the original wheels for sure.

    Restoring these hot wheels must be controversial to some of your viewers. How do you answer questions like value of a car before and after restoration(do you really care one way or an other)? Should you restore these cars at all? What are you trying to accomplish in the first place. You have probably answered these questions in other videos, if not, this would make a very interesting video. I personally liked what you do. Thank you.
