I enjoy this song more than the first one, because it's more "depressing" than "scary", which i think fit's the anime more.
I think you mean mellow. But I understand exactly what you mean~ The feels is absolutely heart jerking
this is a late response, lol, but when you think about it, the first season of the anime is much more based on gore and fear than the second season, so it makes sense that it would be creepier and les emotional, whereas the second season has much more emotion and "feels" so the theme song is sadder.
I wouldn't call this song "depressing." I would just call it "tear-jerking."

Probably one of the best covers I have ever heard
When that prickly sensation won't leave your spine. God, I got some serious goosebumps after this. The chanting, the guitars, the vocals. I really enjoyed this and it really ignited my spark for Higurashi again.
i just found this song like yesterday but something about the way you sing it makes me feel something special.

The song that introduced me to both the anime and you in general. After hearing the original it just reinforces how you made this song in your own image simply due to the different syllables in English and Japanese words. Will never get sick of the spin tingling feeling the final few lines have.

(mainly because of the 2020 version (I always like to watch the original version of an anime before watching a reboot/retelling/whatever the new version of higurashi is))
And this song gets me so emotional and reminds me of all the great moments from season 2 it's hard to put into words

Damn. I love how you arranged the guitar work. Reminds me of one of those ballads or softer songs metalcore bands tend to have. They tend to use similar chord progressions to that of the ending, too. That tremolo picking was perfect for those broken down parts, btw. Awesome job.
