I’ve shot trijicon throughout 20 years in a military service and was very apprehensive about even looking at a “Holosun”. Boy was I pleasantly surprised, I’ll take the Holosun 507 Comp any day of the week!!! Price, the square window and the ability to choose my reticle!!! Love it! I get looked at like a fool cause I have a Holosun on a “Cadillac “ pistol, but they don’t have a clue!!!

I’m a Trijicon guy, but for the intended purpose of these optics I can’t see justifying the SRO. You pay for durability and QC in a US made product with Trijicon but the SRO has proven to have lackluster durability even as a competition optic. They really need to drop the price of them especially with the RMR HD being out. The HD does everything the SRO does with superior durability and electronics. The SRO should be about $450.

Very thorough comprehensive review, thanks. I would add that the SRO protrudes forward, and depending on the gun, may actually be over the ejection port. I am a Holosun fan, I can't justify the additional cost of the SRO.

I have both on multiple guns and to be honest I actually prefer the Holosun. I use the green. It’s easier for me to see. I certainly wouldn’t get rid of my SRO’s to replace them with the 507 comp I had to choose one right out of the box to meet the answer is clear.
The owner of my LGS, who could literally use anything he wanted, also prefers the Holosun.

I had an SRO for one of my staccato's and i ended up swapping it out for the Holosun. I get looked at crazy by my friends for it, but the Holosun feels more durable and i'm more confident with it using it for concealed carry over the SRO.

When it comes to these two companies, I’m team Trijicon.
Like you, I own both of these optics and several other models for each company and I think one thing that you’re totally over looking is edge to edge glass clarity. Trijicon is far superior as Holoson often has deformation at the edges.
The coating is inferior leaving a tiny and many of their models are not a true 1x.
You can also find the SRO for sub 500 bucks these days with regularity

Holosun needs to do a 6moa only 507 comp. I make do with the 2+8 moa for now but its slightly ghetto. Thankfully they do a 6moa EPS/EPS carry... basically THE choice for CCW. So why not the optic literally sold with "comp" in the name? "Comp"etition shooters nearly universally prefer a 5-6moa dot.

Like in any industry some companies live off of their name. Eotech, Surefire, Aimpoint, and Trijicon. They no longer innovate they are the cool name to have and can live off of it. My opinion they have been surpassed in quality and features on some of their products. They are still quality products but in my opinion have been surpassed in many areas.
For instance - the RMR. Figure out how not to have a bottom loaded battery. I would never buy an RMR for that reason alone. Then add in price, and featureless design.
Holosun has attacked the market with affordable, durable, feature rich optics for the past several years.

  • @aarondbritt

In my opinion, your video came across as slight SRO Fanboy. You gave it an IPx8 rating (when it has none!) overly communicated the MOA adjustment differences, and referred to it as “durability is not as robust”, when the SRO’s durability is laughable at best.
The SRO cracks all the time, so many folks have experienced this. You also never discussed the “double dot” phenomenon when the Sun is bright, nor how interacting with Trijicon’s warranty/customer service sucks a bag of dongs (you did mention that Holosun’s customer service is good, which it is) and you don’t get into how awful it is to try and get that battery plate off the SRO with household tools, there is a reason several 3rd parties now sell a battery tool for the SRO.
Bottom line; the SRO is older, needs updating and needs to come down in price and add some much needed durability.
The Holosun 507Comp is the standard for competition these days. Looking forward to see if Trijicon can respond to the Market with something that actually competes with the Holosun Comp.

Trijicon is the Glock of optics,!! Perfection is only perfect till it's not!!! 507 comp window height is almost as tall as Trijicons but has a wider field of view. Depending on what moa version of theTrijicon 1moa, 2.5 or 5moa prices will fluctuate between $550 to $650. Once Holosun comes out with 507 comp with the options of dot only in 3, 6 or 8moa game over for over priced Trijicon SRO.

When you get the confirmation email they say 20 to 30 days to process. If you add another week to ship it back to me it could be 6 or more weeks. Im 9 days in waiting for them to just confirm they got it. A $400 optic and they wont just send a new one. They will try to fix it first. I have 8 Holosun red dots. If i wait 6 weeks for a warranty claim I wont be buying another Holosun. If they fix it and send it back and it fails again Ill smash it with a hammer and send it back with a dog turd in the box.
