I bought the 507C , its great and no complaints..but deep down I wanted the SRO just for the brand and recognition... ended up switching over to the SRO. Thats just me and my 2 cents =]
@@tsega60 I'm gonna say 'mostly' personal preference, but I have heard red can wash out on bright days were green tends to pop. I just see the green better ;)
Been considering the 507Comp w/green reticle for a bit and this helps move me towards the purchase. I've always found your content informative and entertaining and the extra sass in this one was great! Literally made me lol, especially the disclaimer at the end.
I seem to do better with the bigger dots, I hope the 507 comp gets a 5moa or a 6 moa option. I heard good things thought about the new vortex bigger dots. You are making some solid videos!
"I hope that wasn't too mean." Oh noOOOooo ... as if you could get any meaner! 😱 With my slight astigmatism, only dots appear as bursting stars while circles appear sharp. So, with the 507Comp's 2moa Dot + 8moa Circle setting, they blend into a nice fat Green 8moa Dot. 👍
I own four Holosun 507comp green. Absolutely amazing optic with great durability, very clear glass, and clean emitter! i've put over 20k rounds between those four 507comp and they all still run great without issue. I highly recommended the Holosun. 507comp!!!💯💯💯
Love the video Tessah! I have both a SRO (5 MOA) & 507 Comp (2 moa dot & 8 moa circle). The ergonomics of the SRO on my Shadow 2 makes it my favorite. The 507 comp is perfect, ergonomically, on my Canik SFX Pro. No matter the budget the 507 comp is for sure a competitor to the SRO. I’d like to see your opinion on the Vortex XL compared to the 507 & SRO!
Thanks for the video. I don't mind green, but I agree red is preferred. I'll jump in the weirdo camp another way the dpp competition optics may take over or the new C-more offering. The vortex xl 8 moa is legit and the soon to be out sig max michel optic is supposed to have an 8 moa choice. That new C-more RTS3 won carry optics nationals with Grauffel and is offering a staggering 9 moa option let's go!
I have both of these. My SRO is the 5moa version and honestly if I have the choice to go 5-6 moa for a pistol dot I think I'm gonna always choose that in the future. So, for that reason I'd rather have the new Vortex Defender over the 507comp. SRO is fantastic but expensive.
Another weirdo here. I prefer the Holosun 2 moa/32 circle. With my astigmatism, it's the only "clear" reticle for my weak eyes. I get the Starburst with Aimpoints, Trijicon, and the Holosun 6 MOA EPS. Yeah, I know "Target Focus" but the crisp reticle is so soothing to my smooth brain 😂
I love them both. I personally never had an issue with SRO because I only use it for home defense but was told from a buddy of mine that his SRO Glass broke from a drop or something. Again I myself never had that issue because I rarely just theow
I had a 1 MOA SRO, got it because it was way cheaper than the other MOA’s. I have astigmatism so I figured just turn it up and it would look 3.25. Don’t shoot much so I sold it along with my RMR, when I start shooting again I will get them again
check out the Swampfox Justice 2 . 6moa red or green as well as a multi reticle eotech like donut of death model which is my favorite . also they come in under $200 for the 6moa versions
All three of my optics are Holosuns mainly because my they are the best for people with astigmatisms. I'm sure the Trijicon is great though. It looks so sick! I have Trijicon night irons on my glock and they are fantastic. I desperately wanted an Eotch set up on my rifle and I couldn't see the reticle - just a red starburst.
Reasons for 507Comp, I use same gun for steel., and others, if shooting far (Pasted 50 yards) I use 2MOA, If steel within 25 years, I use 8 MOA. When shooting falling steel I like 2 MOA with 20MOA circle. Also reason for not using SRO, Had 3, broke 3.
507Comp-GR weirdo here :P Currently testing the 507Comp-GR, with a lot more time comparing the 507Comp-RD and SRO prior. I've only shot 3 matches with the green and I think it's growing on me. My initial impressions shooting with the green in an indoor range was between meh and I don't like this. Thankfully a LGS is allowing me to try before I buy this one. However, after shooting the green in bright outdoor matches, I've noticed that I often have to max out the red, but I can shoot the green with 2-3 steps below max. Not a huge deal as I'm also in the 2-3 MOA preference group (don't worry, I didn't feel attacked, mostly :P), but I would prefer the ability to increase the brightness a couple of steps if/when needed. In the end, we all have our preferences and even personally, my I've learned that my preferences can change or evolve over the years.
After testing through a couple of different dots of mine and other people and diving into the topic, I can assure those who are reading it - if you have astigmatism (most of us do) - in many scenarios the size of 2-3 MOA dot can be perceived as bigger than 5MOA. Ask me how I know... Basically my 2MOA 507Comp-GR looks bulkier than my Trijicon SRO 5MOA and also bigger than my other Holosun EPS CARRY Red 6MOA. Thus, the visual difference is that the contour on my Trijicon and EPS is sharper, but since staring at the red dot rather than looking at the target is one of the fundamental issues when shooting I don't think it matters. One can't really tell what shape it is when looking at the target. I came up to the same conclusion as HumbleMarksman did which is - the bigger the dot the more it mitigates our astigmatism, that's how the physics of light propagation works. It is also pretty funny to see how sharp and clear any red dot is when you point a phone camera at it by focusing it properly, lol.
@@DigitalMarksman I have astigmatism, but shoot corrected with contacts. I at least try to be target focused and don’t notice dot crispness. Funny that buddies in my squad were talking about astigmatism this past weekend’s match and pretty much all of the have varying degrees.
if you really compete on a high level i think it wont matter much but during bright daylight conditions having a green dot will be more visible. trust me ive tried both green and red and i compete almost on a monthly basis.
I've shot the 507COMP in both green and red in outdoor competitive environments as well as causal indoor environments and my eyes strongly prefer the red. That could be attributed to the fact that I have WAY more time on red dots though. I put about 500-700 rounds through the green dot vs. 20k+ through red.
I traded both my RMR and SRO for all holosun products. Trijicon has fallen way behind the competition. Personally I pick up green much better then red. And the EPS carry is the best optic out there. Love the Holosun 507 Competition for its window size and footprint. Holosun makes it easy on mounting options
I actually prefer the green dot, Ican see it easier than the red. I also like smaller dots for Precision. Not offended at all, one item will not always work for everyone.

Trijicons are designed to jump out of planes and withstand pressure changes, which is why they cost more. The SRO are not designed to TAKE THE ABUSE OF other TRIJICONS OR OTHER OPTICS.
@@0Snare0Affair0 There's a fine line between too much to visually process, and not enough. I find that a 5-6MOA dot is the sweet spot for me. A 1-2MOA dot is small enough that I find my focus shifting to dot focus because I'm having to visually search for it. Dot size definitely makes a difference, but that doesn't mean that there is a "right way" or a "wrong way". We all have different eyes and visually process things differently.

Is there any pros and cons between the red vs green dot? Or is it purely personal preference?
