    Welp, here we go again. Switching platforms for the (technically) third time. I hopped on a 2023 KTM 350 XC-F in the summer of 2022 and rode it for over a year. It is a fantastic bike that I will miss for sure. I originally sold my 2022 KTM 300 XC-W with TPI to get that XC-F. Here I am now going back to the 300 XC-W, but the 2024 version. I know, I know, judge away, I deserve it. Honestly I want to keep both, but because I don't get to ride enough to justify buying two bikes, I sold the XC-F. It will be missed. I'm looking forward to racing and riding on a 2-stroke again.

    I went through a similar process. I went from a 300 to a 350 but now on a husky 450fe and I absolutely love it. I think the 450fe is one of the most underrated bikes out there. Enjoy that new bike feel 🤙🏻

      I'd love to try out one of those FE bikes. Never rode one. Cheers!

    I’d been on 2 strokes for a few years so this past spring I got a 4 stroke to see what do. It’s a lot of fun, but when it’s hot out and I’m just creeping through the rocks back in the forest, I prefer my 2 stroke. Especially as I get more tired.

    In the last couple years I’ve had a 250f, 350 and a 150xc. right now I have both the four strokes but I’m kind of missing the 150. You’re spot on about the 350. On grass track and fast open trail there is nothing better. She is certainly not as versatile 300 though. I’m thinking about unloading the 250f as much as I love her and getting a 150-200cc two stroke……or a newer 250f.

      I totally understand what you mean. My dream stable would be probably 4 different bikes. Well.....5 actually, I'd want an electric one too.

    looking at an xc as well for hare scrambles now that the 25s are on the way. will dabble for pure play on the mx track but mainly want a hare scramble setup. enjoyed the reasons and differences. either a 300 or 350 for me. also a 1 bike in the stable type guy... $$... this was helpful.

    I've held off waiting to buy a 2T for years and finally pulled the trigger on an xcw this year. It seems like I made the right choice. Overall it's 25% easier to ride.

    I can't make up my mind, so I got one of each, was a owner of 300 2 stroke's last 10 years, picked up a new 450xc and love that bike in the woods, if you put a gun to my head and told me to decide between the '23 300xc or '23 450xc I'd be in trouble, I lean toward the 450 though

    Congrats nice ride! Man I figured you’d get an XC for the racing you like to do.

      I considered it and arguably it is a better bike but I wanted a bike I can also do some chill trail riding with. I'm actually pleasantly surprised that the suspension on this one is a little bit stiffer. I love it so far, but I know the XC is also a great bike. My buddy is getting the 24 XCF which I think has the same suspension as the XC, so maybe he'll let me ride that to get a feel for the difference in suspension.

    Wondering if you looked at the 2024 Husqvarna TE300, which would give you a linkage rear suspension (maybe preserving some of the higher-speed handling and jumping abilities of your previous 350F). Just curious.

      I definitely took a very close look at the Husky and think it is a great bike. (it also comes with the maps switch, so it's basically the same exact price as the KTM). I ultimately decided to go with the PDS over the linkage b/c it typically performs a little better in the woods. The other small difference was the clutch and brakes being brembo. I'm sure Braketec is pretty good, but I have familiarity with the brembos and really like the way they perform. It really was a very hard decision. I also looked closely at the GasGas, but didn't want the XPLOR fork again, and for whatever reason, they still come with those for this model year. Tough call indeed.... probably can't go wrong with any of the three bikes.

    Interested in how many hours you had on the 350 and its longevity. I thought you were crazy taking a new bike with an hour or so of break in to a race but I suppose lots of folks do it. Did not running in the bike per KTM's instruction cause any issues for the 350 engine? Did you use the motorex 10w-50 as prescribed or did you use something else? Thanks. Keep up the great vids.

      @ThomperBeThompin  8 месяцев назад +1

      I actually did follow their break in guidance. I put 1.5-2 hrs on the bike the day before the race. I also changed the oil and filter per the manual with all the correct motorex oil the night before the race. I never noticed any issues with the bike during my 32 hrs with it. These don't require 5-10 hrs of break in time like some other bikes out there. Grip it and rip it baby! (I did change the engine oil/filter and air filter frequently as well - cheap insurance)
