So many of you ask...How Stiff are the Tusk 2Track Sidewalls?

  • Okay, here it is... You guys ask numerous times weekly about the sidewall stiffness of the ‪@rmatvmc‬ 2Track tires. Here it is...
    I can tell you that I would not want to do a trail side tube repair in the desert without shade! Nor would I want to try to re-bead a tubeless tire if it got low and slid off... What do you think?

    Folks need to understand there is almost no rubber in this thing. It’s just Nylon. And that comes at a price, especially for those that plan to ride in cold weather

    Super stiff, I run30 psi in the back and 20 up front tubeless. It is a great tire though, I run Mostly gravel road with wet rock, mud and creek crossings in the mountains. The tire is very predictable. On road it sticks great through twisties.

    I am asking when it will come in for my 1250gs? I mounted Anakee Wilds with my Rabaconda though last week, and must say they kick a$$ in the dirt!! Suck on the street, but on the dirt they shine!

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  Месяц назад +2

      @@OneTakeSunday the wilds feel like riding on wiggly clouds on the street for the first several thousand miles. The ... they are amazing on the street and not so effective off-road ;)

    • @OneTakeSunday
      @OneTakeSunday Месяц назад +2

      @@manybikes Thats exactly how they feel!! On my Trailmax Missions, i could do 110-115mph pretty much the whole way to dirt, but on these wilds anything over 85mph is a temporary speed. They will mostly be off road though. I ride them 130 miles to the sierras on pavement, stay there a week riding in the dirt at my parents place, then come back home, stay down here a week, and repeat! See how many trips i get out of them before they reverse!!! So far though, i love them in the dirt/loose stuff! Would you recommend the rallz over the wilds? Arent the tusks supposed to come out for the 1250gs too? Now that you basically made me get a rabaconda, i can put on my own shoes!

      @@manybikes hahaha Thank you!! I also hope they are treating you right selling so many units for them. Did my first ever tire change myself with it! Took off the Trailmax Missions on my 1250gs, man that was hard to break that bead, for my first ever bead break, and put on the anakee wilds! Took me like 6 hours, but i am confident i can take off the tires, get both tires changed, then back on the GS in about an hour, on my 3rd or 4th change. Like anything, takes some practice.

    Why do all the decent milage tires that have a usefull tread pattern have such a stiff ass side wall? Its so damn hard to find a tire in the 3-5k range in a 17" wheel thats not a street tire or something with a rock hard carcass.

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  Месяц назад

      The AX41 from Bridgestone is the softest sidewall knobby out there. The Michelin Anakee Wild isn't too bad either. The Wild gets more miles... The new Dunlop TrailMax Raid is good too.

    I’ve watched a ton of your tire videos and love your content.
    I could really use new tire recommendations. I swooped the stock perelli scorpions off my tenere for shinko E-804/805. But the rear is getting a flat center line and will soon need replacing. The 2 tracks were what I planned on switching to but now I’m not so sure. What do you recommend Sir ?

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  Месяц назад

      The 2Track is a great dirt tire, that is for sure. They basically knocked off a Motoz RallZ tire... as did Mitas ;) Why? Because Motoz is the best and they need to keep up! The 2Track is very hard on the pavement. If riding pavement for hours to get to the dirt, I don't recommend them... or if you ride in the wet below 50 degrees... not good there either. But.... warm weather in the dirt, they are amazing. Please tell me what type of terrain you are riding and on what bike and I can better answer your question.

    I mounted a set of 2 Tracks on my 1090 by hand. Worst tire experience ever. The front tire was out of round and would not balance. I ditched and mounted Motoz ADV and DV based on your reviews. Very happy now.

    I could mount my set in the garage using just spoons, the secret was getting the opposite sidewall down into the wheel well!
    I installed the tube into the tire before mounting, I don't know if I could have managed to install the front tube with one side on the wheel.
