I love that people are so polarized over this car. For the people that cry over the lack of ameneties, no power steering, sparse interior, and only 240hp......well this car is not for you. For the people who's hair stands on end and they get tingles in their spine over the thought of a 2,400 lb curb weight, carbon fiber monocoque, manual rack, etc. then that is the group this is aimed at. I never understood how people get so offended at cars that were not designed for them.
The car is beautiful. If you are in the market for a two seat, mid-engine, Italian sports car, with a warranty, and you don't want to sell your house, then this is it.
Min price for 360 in Canada is $85K Canadian. Min price for Alfa 4C is about $80K. The biggest problem I see is repairs. As we all should know, the cash is a transfer fee for the Ferrari. Then the real costs/pain begins Alfa? Warranty FTW.....
I bought a 2015 LE new and 8 years later still have it.... and love it even more than when I first bought it. With some very simple upgrades (tires mainly as the stock PZeros weren't the best choice, check cliangment and set toe to 0) these are fantastic cars. I used to race a variety of cars but frankly this is the closest to a real race car I have ever driven. The braking gives great feel, steering lets you feel the bugs you drove over. trans gearing is perfect.... probably best of any current car I have driven. I have some additional tweaks.... any car can be greatly improved with similar tweaks. No it isn't a hyper car that can reach 200 +mph... but no one needs that. Instead this is the perfect canyon carver. It is very quick and still gives great gas mileage (as long as you keep your foot out of the throttle constantly). It has also proven to be very reliable and bullet proof. I figured that it was a potential future collectable car and it turns out that is happening. The sad part of that is I don't want to sell it. Every drive is an event.... a car like this demands that you DRIVE the car and not just exist in it. Of course there are faster cars but few can put a hell of a smile on my face every time I drive it.... or just see it sitting in my garage. ALFA.... you haven't driven a ca runtil you drive an ALFA (and I have had 3 of them) . It isn't a cushmobile so demands more from you.... it is louder, firmer ride, less storage space, Finally it is one of the most beautiful cars ever made.... Italians know how to make gorgeous cars.
Why any one car over another? Because you like the car. Hopefully you don't buy based on specs. Anyway, if you have $70K to spend on a car, you'll buy the one that you like, not the one someone else thinks is "best."
I just hope they manage to sell enough of those so they can make a second generation 4C. It would be nice to have an Italian car really competing in this market dominated by germans.
Claudía Lisbette Zakrajsek The people who buy this car would, AKA car enthusiasts. Since this car is targeting driving purists with it's minimalism and manual steering, a true manual gearbox is the only way to go. Big mistake by Alfa.
SeverdSeouL "Car enthusiasts" would sooner opt for something a little more throaty and less gutless. I don't think many people are going to pay over $50,000 and up to $70,000 for this ugly, thin-as-ass-paper, gimmicky shit. For that price they could get 2 or 3 Mustangs or even a Corvette. Real old-school Iti' car "enthusiasts", would probably prefer an old Ferrari or a mint-condition Lamborghini. Alfa Romeo should bring the Giulietta and Mito over here, and possibly even design a new sedan or two to successfully start 'selling' over here again.
If you are not an Alfista refrain from idiotic comments comparing Mustangs and Vettes to this car. Corvette used a transaxle in the early 2000s , 20 years after Alfa had already been using it in the GTV6, the Giulietta and Milano (75) in the 80s. You just can't compare, so stick to your Mustang and Vette or soul-less BMW for the common dude. All of us Alfisti prefer these cars fall into the right hands, so, thanks for hating it. See you in 20 years when your car is worth a few thousands in a used car lot, my Alfa will be sold only amongst Alfisti. We stick to our own.
I've never been much of a Corvette guy but I have to agree, Gene. The C7 is excellent and much more logical choice than the 4C. As for the Alfa's seats, my back did hurt a bit after a day of driving. If I had tons of disposable income I might grab a 4C as a track day plaything but for mostly street driving there are definitely better options.
I figured as much. Disposable income, wonder what that's like? We'd be so spoiled that we wouldn't appreciate anything material or anyone for that matter.
Sure, there's the semi-new C7, plenty of porsches to choose from, lotus, but this 4C, despite being worse of a car then any of those, is the reason why I will always have respect for the design of Italian cars.
Much better review. great info, great impressions, and well laid out.... i'm impressed well done. unfortunately the other competitors you mentioned (c7 corvette, porsche, ect) all seem like a more sensible choice and a plain better performance choice, its kind of like the whole Viper Vs Zr1 thing. one (viper) is a raw blunt tool, while the other zr1 while still somewhat blunt is more refined and accessible. either way good job loved it.
do people really think this is a luxury car? complain complain complain that it doesn't have this or that. people who want a manual have zero clue how much agility this car has and have no understanding what a carbon fibre chassis will do for quickness. there's no time in this for manual. think Sebastian Loeb did 9 world titles with a manual and clutch? things are happening so quickly in this car that's what makes it so fun. other cars have so much slop and softness and no edgyness in comparison. this car has been refined down to a pure drivers car more than anything ever available. including $100, 000 usf+ which to me aren't sport cars but they are exotics.
Hi there! We don't currently have any video reviews of the Giulia, but we do have a review of the 2017 model up on KBB.com. Here's a link: www.kbb.com/alfa-romeo/giulia/2017/
4-5 more years!!! and it's mine. it's perfect I love it, it's a pure sports car no other nonsense going on, except it doesn't have a proper manual that sucks a little, but it's great when a flappy paddle gearbox is done right.
I own an 2011 Audi TT. It's been paid off for awhile, and I'm looking to add to the garage.. It'd be an understatement to just call it a nice sports car, but the Alpha Romeo's chassis style and mid set engine seems more attractive to me personally when looking at sports cars. I came very close to purchasing a Nissan 370Z Nismo, but finding out about these Romeo's just recently (I've never even heard of this car until today) I think I'm set on the Romeo. The Lotus Elise's interior just makes me cringe, or I'd go with that.
Did Micah have something else going on the day this was shot? Seems more rushed & scripted than usual. Only an obsessed fan would notice though... well done! As always.
I really like the design of this little Alfa. But if I were to spend money on a rather stripped car to drive for fun, I'd rather spend less than $40,000 on a used Lotus Elise.
Not that I'm going to buy this, but why no manual? Why go to all the trouble of making a pure sports car and not put in a manual? I have a doubleclutch while it's awesome, it's just not shifting!
I think it's cute. I like it and i wouldn't mind driving it because it would definitely be unique. But for the price, I would instead get a Porsche Cayman. Speaking of which (don't mean to go too far off topic), a 2014 Porsche Cayman (base) and a 2014 Camaro Z/28 are about the same price in Canada (75K). Which would (you) choose; bearing in mind that in the USA, the Z/28's are all but sold out, but Caymans' are a dime a a half dozen pretty much everywhere!?
For everyday driving - get a Cayman. For anything else - forget it. Alfa is more stylish, sounds better, is more fun to drive, packs much more supercar technology for your money than anything on the market.
To criticise it don’t have plush wood grain soft interior & gold plated crap This car ain’t for you You ay not a real petrol head till you own an Alfa Romeo!
alex, "cause" is an effect, not an alternative to "because". So.... I hear they are offering English Grammar courses on 123 Main st, in evergreen valley city. About 3 weeks - you could sign up for it?
sic22l Yes I tend to agree with you. New Corvette is not a plastic Junk the majority of the panels are now carbon fiber. The Alfa panels are plastic. The old vettes yes were junk no question. I think the Alfa is great car but not for $60 grand
Jon Car Majority of the panels? Only the hood and roof are carbon fiber, the rest is plastic screwed to aluminium frame/structure. 4C is based on carbon fiber tube/structure you can find in race cars. I think $55k is a bargain for so much of supercar technology.
Quang Lam You are right, it is The European version is around 350lbs lighter this is due to, various safety features that are required by U.S. laws etc 1700lbs is a bit ridiculous lol! but i think 2000lbs makes the european version that much sweeter, that much quicker and more responsive
There is something about the look and no power steering that makes me want this car over the Cayman/Exige. The Exige is ugly and almost cheap looking compared to the 4C.
It’s average. The steering should be brilliant and it’s not. The steering wheel is awful. The car tramlines badly on irregular surfaces...especially under hard braking. The engine belongs in a hot hatch, not a sports car and certainly not in an Alfa Romeo sports car. The gearbox is dopey around town and ridiculously and unnecessarily brutal in Track mode. It’s just another in a long line of beautiful but flawed Alfa’s. Lotus do this sort of car so much better.
Apologies. I didn't know jackshit at the time and now realize my error. Horsepower isn't the only factor of speed/acceleration. Torque, curb weight, RPM intervals, etc.
When I was living in the UK, I remember going out to a pub with my hubby and we got talking to some old guy about cars. He mentioned Alfa Romeo and Lancia, and told us that they'd always been crap and people in the UK had always frowned upon them and they were seen as somewhat of a joke. I even remember he said the phrase "rotten as a pear" meaning they would rust and fall apart after no time at all because the bodies were as thin as "arse paper". It made me laugh, still don't know if that's true or not - we'll have to see.
They are old stereotyes. Those problems were solved during in the 1990's. Nowadays there are still many 156s and 147s of the late 90's on the road in Europe. So they must have gotten something right ;) Generally speaking, nowadays it all comes down to how a car is driven and taken care of.
Lumos-Nox Alfas point was to make it minimalistic not only visually. First and for most it supposed to be very light, that's why they used thin but hard plastic. Posh materials are heavy.
I get it, you must be the guy in the picture and you're offended because I suggested a Corvette instead of 4C. It should be remembered that the track Corvette can be faster, and the best, is not a tiny car. Now you may feel offended haha.
Alfa has carbon fiber body, engine in the middle, dual clutch transmission, mechanical differential, wishbone suspension, very low weight ets. It's hypercar technology. You're getting quite a lot for your money.
You are A Silly BOZO Moron! Stupid Idiot! This is Thickest BEST Carbon Fiber money can Buy. The ONLY other car that has this much carbon fiber is the MCLaren. Do Your homework before mouthing off Stupid!
camshaft53149 So the most reliable or nothing? Poor guy, whole life in boring japanese people movers. For a few years now Alfa's realibility is ok, it's somewhere in the middle which Chevy can only dream of. So 4C is more stylish, more technologically advanced, more reliable and quicker than the Vette.
I am actually not a fan of Toyotas or Honda. Own all Fords and love every one of them. I would never buy one of these because they are overpriced. The only way they would be worth the money is if they started around 25-30k and had a manual option. Otherwise there is no point to this so called "sports car".
The design of this car is so incoherent. Is the gaping triangle in the center supposed to mimic a vagina? 240 horsepower for a car that cost this much is laughable. 4 cylinder trash.
Course there's another group who dissolve into puddles of admiration once they get within 10' of it and prefer to admire it from the outside.
+Jason Young It's my dream car for exactly the reasons you mention.
The car is beautiful. If you are in the market for a two seat, mid-engine, Italian sports car, with a warranty, and you don't want to sell your house, then this is it.
Lee Douglas i love this car but I need to point out that a 360 is now only around 70k
Drive this and a $70k 360 back to back and I guarantee you will have more fun in the Alfa. It's louder, better looking, and a little faster too.
Min price for 360 in Canada is $85K Canadian. Min price for Alfa 4C is about $80K. The biggest problem I see is repairs. As we all should know, the cash is a transfer fee for the Ferrari. Then the real costs/pain begins Alfa? Warranty FTW.....
Lee Douglas min price for 4c in us is 30 k min price for 360 is 51k
Jason Holtkamp louder yes better looking it depends on the person but the 360 can smoke the alfa
Alfa is a passion, others are just cars,

Beautiful Italian. I want one.
I just hope they manage to sell enough of those so they can make a second generation 4C. It would be nice to have an Italian car really competing in this market dominated by germans.

Does a/c keep up in hot climate's ?
Man KBB is putting out some great reviews
Its the best looking weird looking car if you know what i'm saying!
It does look weird. It reminds me of like a fake arcade video game car.
Not many people here would opt for a 6-speed manual.
Claudía Lisbette Zakrajsek The people who buy this car would, AKA car enthusiasts. Since this car is targeting driving purists with it's minimalism and manual steering, a true manual gearbox is the only way to go. Big mistake by Alfa.

If you are not an Alfista refrain from idiotic comments comparing Mustangs and Vettes to this car. This dude deserves applause
True, I sold all my Bmw M's and now own the Alfa 4c, not going back
I'll be over here enjoying my not constantly lit up check engine light.
So MIcah, How did you feel about the upright seating after driving? Great Video! Love the looks of this Alfa. I'd still buy a Vette.
I've never been much of a Corvette guy but I have to agree, Gene. The C7 is excellent and much more logical choice than the 4C.

Solid point. Thank heaven we're blessed with the bank accounts of mortal men!
That was great, informative and entertaining review. keep uploading them.
Nice review, strange no mention on race mode on the track testing.
Rashpal Bhati alfa gave him a car with less items which the also use on test drives

thank god they've changed the headlamps
i like the oreginal. there funky and odd, but special

This is not a car...This is a showcar! Alfa Romeo rules!
such a cool Brand... i love this alpha´s :)
Daniel Gehrmann alfa*
nice! bet that was an awesome drive!
Will you be comfortable on this car if you are 6.3-6.4 feet (193-195 cm)?
How long do you think they will sell this car for?
Stay out of Dynamic mode! What's the point?

Id love a spyder. They ARE pretty expensive though, even though theyre being sold. AKA im not getting one for about 20 years :)
English, it's ok if you can't speak it but don't try till you can cause that was horrid wording.

Awesome car!
I'd get either the 8c or a 4 door sedan from alfa maybe even an SUV
Race mode?
Cool car but the Vette with Z package blows that away. If they offered it at 35 to 40 grand it would sell like crazy!
Corvette is a piece of plastic junk with big engine. 4C is a little sportscar packed with hypercar technology you won't find for less than $200k.
sic22l Yes I tend to agree with you.
He didnt even put in race mode.
honestly I'd much more fancy a Porsche cayman, or even a corvette stingray which look absolutely just as fantastic if not more fantastic.
Aditya Gupta me2 m8
Or a lotus exige
cant believe im saying this, but america has finally got the better version... it may weigh a bit more but those headlights are much better looking...
You can get the same headlights in Europe now..
Where in SF is that wall of graffiti?
Its simple, cars are better this way. Modern cars overwhelm people with too much electronic crap these days!
The most emotionless review of one of the most emotional cars ever... Sad.
I love this car. But I bought an A45 AMG instead. More bang for my buck.
No mention of the carbon fiber body :)
Why this over exige ?
Style?
Style, carbon fiber chassis, brand, wow factor, modern technology, exclusivity.
Plus If I'm not mistaken they are really hard to find, short supply dead dealer network, ect ect.
bit more drivable day to day than an exige i think?
***** Definitely yes.
Soooooooo you took the 4C to a race track, and didn't put the car into RACE mode? What the fuck!???
the Italian FRS but cost 3x as much
And its 3x better
2400 lbs is pretty heavy for a carbon fiber car. It should be around 1700 lbs.
Quang Lam You are right, it is
The European version is around 350lbs lighter
this is due to, various safety features that are required by U.S. laws etc
1700lbs is a bit ridiculous lol! but i think 2000lbs makes the european version that much sweeter, that much quicker and more responsive
You will be missed :(
There is something about the look and no power steering that makes me want this car over the Cayman/Exige. The Exige is ugly and almost cheap looking compared to the 4C.

Viper V10 price LOL
I'm looking at used ones since they've been discontinued, and they're same as they were new, worth every penny though
can't believe even a Jeep Cherokee's faster.
on a straight maybe
Apologies. I didn't know jackshit at the time and now realize my error.
Horsepower isn't the only factor of speed/acceleration. Torque, curb weight, RPM intervals, etc.
Your paying for the body and the engine. That's why interior is cheap
* You're
i cried too,because i cant afford it :p
needs to be cheaper for what little it offers. max 40k
The interior is about as nice as a 2008 Accord coupe
The carbon tub alone is 40k to make for a car that sells at 55-60k. Now, rethink of your idiotic comment
When I was living in the UK, I remember going out to a pub with my hubby and we got talking to some old guy about cars. of course, it's just nostalgy. anyway it's a new world for now, with economies of scale and whatever.
They're old stereotypes. Alfas were very unreliable some time ago but newer models like 159 are more reliable than Passat.
sic22l Passats are nothing to boast about either. So that doesn't really say a lot.
They are old stereotyes. Those problems were solved during in the 1990's. Nowadays there are still many 156s and 147s of the late 90's on the road in Europe. So they must have gotten something right ;) Generally speaking, nowadays it all comes down to how a car is driven and taken care of.
Peter Sente 147 is a perfect car
😄😄😄😄
I understand minimalism...but that interior is just pathetic.
It's minimalistic. That's what it means.
Minimalistic does not mean pathetic. You can do minimalism without looking and feeling cheap.
Lumos-Nox Alfas point was to make it minimalistic not only visually. First and for most it supposed to be very light, that's why they used thin but hard plastic. Posh materials are heavy.
And that I understand. But honestly it still makes it cheap feeling.
Lumos-Nox Yes, but expensive feeling is heavy.
It's a fabulous, gorgeous car, however, it's Italian and a Fiat!!! Good luck Alfa you will need it.
Buy Corvette.
said the kia guy
Kia is Corean, no?
yes how does it drive?
idk i m not have kia.
I get it, you must be the guy in the picture and you're offended because I suggested a Corvette instead of 4C. It should be remembered that the track Corvette can be faster, and the best, is not a tiny car. Now you may feel offended haha.
Totally overpriced for what you're getting. Sad to say that this will fail horribly at that pricepoint. Drop it 10k and it could be called a success
Already a large waiting list, they're selling. Here in the UK people are selling them for more than they bought them for
Alfa has carbon fiber body, engine in the middle, dual clutch transmission, mechanical differential, wishbone suspension, very low weight ets. It's hypercar technology. You're getting quite a lot for your money.
please go and watch some cats videos,it's better for you,and for us. :)
You are A Silly BOZO Moron! Stupid Idiot! This is Thickest BEST Carbon Fiber money can Buy. The ONLY other car that has this much carbon fiber is the MCLaren. Do Your homework before mouthing off Stupid!
pwoo124 well it is pretty popular in 2017
Doomed.
I think it looks decent but for the price... Corvette. Or I'd take a Mustang GT and pocket the cash.
Alfa is quicker than Corvette on track.
I would rather have a car that I like the looks of better and know that it will be reliable. Alfa isn't the most reliable manufacturer even in Europe.
camshaft53149 So the most reliable or nothing? Poor guy, whole life in boring japanese people movers. For a few years now Alfa's realibility is ok, it's somewhere in the middle which Chevy can only dream of. So 4C is more stylish, more technologically advanced, more reliable and quicker than the Vette.
I am actually not a fan of Toyotas or Honda. Own all Fords and love every one of them. I would never buy one of these because they are overpriced. The only way they would be worth the money is if they started around 25-30k and had a manual option. Otherwise there is no point to this so called "sports car".
notformebeaky Are you talkinf about Alfa? 4C doeasn't have a manual, even in Europe.
The design of this car is so incoherent. Is the gaping triangle in the center supposed to mimic a vagina? 240 horsepower for a car that cost this much is laughable. 4 cylinder trash.
you just don't get it, but thats fine. Go on and buy your "muscle" car
why is this trashy little car so expensive?
