    Brilliant review and glad to see a review with a real racing driver who appreciates a car like this. A truly special experience in this day and age. For the price, the 4C is a true bargain. The road presence, the feel, unmatched anywhere near the price. Frankly, unmatched period.

    Great review! Keep it up and make more frequent longer reviews PLZ

    • @nickbusato7138
      @nickbusato7138 9 лет назад +1

      How do you feel about the length? I seem to think the 6-8 minutes is ideal. The longer 12 and 14 minute reviews I have seen from other great outlets can become dragged out. We have done some in the 10-12 minute mark but its fairly rare.

    • @BrianMakse
      @BrianMakse  9 лет назад +1

      Thanks! We'd love to get into more detail but three minutes still seems to be the average attention span on RUclips. Some of our films will run ten minutes, but it's hard to justify longer running films when nobody watches after the fourth minute. Any suggestions?

    • @PS3Cooooooool
      @PS3Cooooooool 9 лет назад

      Brian Makse really good review but not great, yes you could've talked & showed the speedometer since its electronic, you can show the styling lines & shots of the full interior. you can talk about the center of gravity of it since its really low + demonstration. talk about the seats fit for tall & wide people traction control if it has. that was imho missing info of your review that would've made it great. an 8 minute review by you is enough.

    • @nickbusato7138
      @nickbusato7138 9 лет назад +1

      Sorry about that mate we were on a mental timescale for this film that was further comprised by the day we lost to the flat tires. We try and cram in as many reviews as possible when we are in beautiful Cali. This should be less of an issue in future as the channel grows and we have greater flexibility with time.

    • @karlInSanDiego
      @karlInSanDiego 9 лет назад

      Nick Busato More on flat tires (plural?) Do tell. With no spares on modern cars, we fail to discuss the various stuff manufacturers do to compensate. Does it have a flat / slime /pump kit. I made one for our Elise.

    Love the review, one of the best online so far. Definitely in my top 7. What I dont like is how we still present as if Alfa Romeo has taken pages from Ferrari's book. Ex.. you mentioned it is bjilt in Milan as if t say "like Ferrari" Alfa Romoe has a factory there since 1910. Ferrari? 1947. Even with the glass over the engine thingy, like the 360 modena. Yet the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale was the first to sport such a thing. This is not a new market for Alfa Romeo, its the return, awakening or the sleeping giant. I own the last style they sold here in 95, the AR194Q and did not buy another awaiting their return. Its that serious. #WeAreAlfisti

    • @nickbusato7138
      @nickbusato7138 9 лет назад +2

      I think Brian does point out that there is a difference between old and modern Ferraris and what similarities carry over. When doing a review one needs to present a way to quantify the cars character to the average viewer. Cheers mate.

    • @BrianMakse
      @BrianMakse  9 лет назад +3

      We weren't going for a history lesson with this one. If it were the case, we'd have done a thirty minute film at least to tell the story properly. It's a storied marque, as we all know, but to be fair, it is today a subsidiary of Fiat.

    • @murrayfurze
      @murrayfurze 9 лет назад +1

      AlfaEricWashDC Agreed. I believe that Enzo Ferrari, who 'cut his teeth' at ALFA, once famously referred to ALFA Romeo as the Mother of Ferrari.

    Comments by Sidhesh Patil - I think the paddle shifters made out of plastic could be viewed as an opportunity for drivers to customize them to individual liking. For example - glue aftermarket tailored silicon grip on the paddle shifters and make it ergonomic.

      I have a LE coupe #498. Agreed it is a fantastic car. Came from many other cars and only this one and my old 1969/70 ALFA spider meet my taste for a real drivers car. Stock it is very fast but put some stickier tires, coil overs, and a more track oriented wheel alignment and it is a real track monster.

  • @coureurdebois
    @coureurdebois 9 лет назад +4

    great review loved it!! but i still have this nagging feeling that there are simply better options like the porsche cayman / boxster, C7 corvette stingray, jaguar F type v6, or even a Mazda Miata. i get that it has "character" and italian styling but these other cars mentioned draw just as much attention (excluding miata) and offer a little more civility / performance as well. my question to you would be if you have 60K used would you pass up these cars for a 4c?

    • @nickbusato7138
      @nickbusato7138 9 лет назад +4

      I will agree that the first though I had when I saw the price was that I could get a C7 for the same money. At the end of the day everyone is looking for their own favourite recipe for the perfect desert and the 4C may be it. Driving one is far more of an event that any of the cars listed and for some thats all that matters. Also the cayman when optioned out to the spec you would want to drive home with is likely a sizeable amount more money than the 4c.

    • @BrianMakse
      @BrianMakse  9 лет назад +4

      Thanks for watching! Depends on how you define "better" I suppose. If your better means a mid engine car with impeccable manners and daily utility, then the Cayman is for you, but if your better means authentic exotic car qualities and exclusivity, then the 4C is the only option.

  • @BorisLozac
    @BorisLozac 9 лет назад +2

    So you're the only reviewer on whole of RUclips that said that there is no feedback through the wheel, care explaining that? As literally every one of them stated the complete opossite..

    • @BrianMakse
      @BrianMakse  9 лет назад +1

      That's correct. There's very little feedback from the wheel, like it's reluctant to talk to you. Kind of disappointing actually, but so much of the car is really outstanding that I'm happy to overlook that. As for the why, well, I'm the only reviewer on the whole of RUclips who is a championship-winning racing driver. That might explain it.

    • @BorisLozac
      @BorisLozac 9 лет назад +1

      Brian Makse honestly i think i've watched them all, even Chris Harris said the feedback is great :) But i guess you don't have any reason to 'lie' :) Awesome review btw

    • @BrianMakse
      @BrianMakse  9 лет назад +1

      BorisLozac That's the thing! Harris drove the Euro version. I haven't. The difference is hundreds of pounds, for starters. The North American version is massively heavier than the one they sell in Europe. Never mind any other changes that Alfa isn't disclosing for the North American version, such as spring and damper rates, or perhaps even suspension geometry. If I was going to "lie" or mislead anyone, don't you think I'd jump on the "heck yeah there's lots of steering feedback" train?

    • @BorisLozac
      @BorisLozac 9 лет назад +1

      Brian Makse offcourse not, that's why i said "lie" :) Could be that the american variant is different, gonna check it out myself tomorrow in a racing simulation "Assetto Corsa".. that's why your review bummed me cause i want the good feedback on the wheel :P :)

    • @BrianMakse
      @BrianMakse  9 лет назад +1

      BorisLozac Don't sweat it. The 4C is so amazing that it doesn't matter. You get tons of feedback from the chassis anyway. Drive one. You'll love it.

  • @647killa
    @647killa 9 лет назад +2

    Great work as usual Nick and Brian. I will have to go with a Cayman on this one, though I will admit that the Alfa is visually stunning and may also be great to drive. I just feel I may get more for my money with the Cayman than this Alfa. Lotus Elise/Exige are not available anymore in Canada, otherwise that would be my top pick for Mid-engined, lightweight sportscars that provide an analog driving experience. Also, if all that weight saving was so important, then they should have considered a manual box over a dual-clutch, but maybe the Alfa customers like the luxury of a dual clutch and an auto mode in traffic. I know I would never buy a Miata or Elise with a DCT as it just doesn't "feel" right for such a focused back-to-basics sportscar.

    • @nickbusato7138
      @nickbusato7138 9 лет назад

      Chassis/packaging optimization along with better use of boost is likely why its DCT only. You still get that back to basics feel as your mind starts to focus on the other more analog parts of the cars experience.

    • @BrianMakse
      @BrianMakse  9 лет назад

      Thanks! If you're going to daily a car like this, then, sure, the Cayman's more practical, but if you're looking for a more special motoring experience, the 4C is brilliant. As for the gearbox, this thing works really well as it is and we were never wanting for a manual. Love this car.

    How does the Alfa 4C compare to a 2005-09 Lotus Elise? I'm betting the Elise would have a better brake feel and way better steering feedback.

    I own a 2016 coupe white exterior and red leather interior it’s a very unique car that stands out on the road. Would I buy another one absolutely lol. 0-60 in 4.1. Turbo boost can put ya in your seat. I’m a 26 year old female and seeing anyone in one of these is rare let alone 26 year old. Oil changes are easy if ya do it yourself. Good gas mileage. Nimble. Raw. Reliability has been good so far. Full exposed carbon fiber tube. No muffler or power steering your in full control. Hand built only so many made coupe wise. Overall Not much to complain about other than not driving it in the winter lol. If your looking for creature comfort it’s not the car for that. It’s basic inside all driver oriented.
    It’s basically like a cross between a Ferrari and a Lotus Exige the best of both worlds I guess. Not to mention Alfa’s rich racing heritage. Is it the fastest car no but it’s a rocket kid ya not wouldn’t advise dissing it cause it’s a 4 cylinder it’s a beast. I’ve raced and beat 2 hemis and 2 mustangs. It’s quick in dynamic mode push it in 3 gear and hold on lol.

    I think the 4C is cool but, everyone is waiting to see the all new (one size larger) car that is coming soon. It will share it's platform with a new Dodge to fill the size hole between the Challenger and Dart. It may be called Cuda or the new Avenger. It will be the first completely new car thoroughly developed and released by the FCA merger. I can't wait to see this new sports car. I loved my 1970 Cuda I had back in High school years ago. We shall see. ;o)

    • @jeromeburrasca6710
      @jeromeburrasca6710 9 лет назад +2

      Nick Busato I understand your frustration. I just feel there is so much secrecy about this car that it must be worth the wait. I've been following the comments of Ralf Gilles and Sergio Marchionne, as well as release dates of upcoming Alfa Romeo/Maserati new models. I believe the Dodge variant of this car will be a twin turbo V6 sports car available in hard top and convertible for the 2016 model year. FCA isn't fooling around anymore they're investing $60 billion, that's with a "B" over the next few years back into the company. I expect the new car to be a world beater in performance and value. I have to wait and see what happens. ;o)

      But its so light that its as fast as any other supercar so it doesn't really need that... I agree it could have more power and it would be immensely fast but then it wouldn't be so cheap anymore. Thats the reason why Alfa gave it a small engine.
