Umm so you seem to agree with another reviewer who did not like this shoe which another one took issue with. Between you all have decided it's not one I have any need of and fundamentally that is why I watch these vids so thanks for saving my money :)
Yowanna and others concur; step backward for Saucony. You have to wonder what their internal product process; design much heavier than 20/21, less energy return and cush, why move forward with production?
So let’s get to the bottom line… There’s no reason to buy this shoe whatsoever; many better choices for the same or less $$$, including 20 and 21, which are going for $80-$90.
I think I'll pass during these times of fiscal turbulence. I used my Soar Solstice reward to pick up a pair of shorts. It's only way I could afford them out of the money I got from the empties 🍻
I feel like the 22 became an antagonist of the Nimbus 26 and the Max Cush Category. Got the Mizuno Wave Sky 7 this year to replace my Nimbus 25 (i still wear my pair casually) and i must say that it's a great shoe! I also use the triumph 21 still because it's a banger! And still beating the Superblast! I will probably pass on this one but i must say it looks 🔥
Really terrible update IMO. Haven't seen a single positive review and how they can make a PEBAX based foam so lifeless is beyond belief. Too heavy, too padded, too dull and a big thumbs down. I hope the Hurricane 24 isn't as bad, but my Triumph 19 will be my last for a while. Maybe they will radically improve the v23 next year. But all is not gloom and doom, Superblast 2 is about to launch!
As someone who has run in the Triumphs going back to the ISO line your comments on the 22 are bang on. Personally I like the shoe but realize it’s a total tank of a shoe, it will last forever and it has limited use as a long distance cruiser. I have a normal foot and the mid foot and forefoot are roomy. I get good lock down in the heel. I’m 75kg or 166lbs and find the midsole spongy enough. It’s no NB1080 but it’s comfy. Lots of people poo pooing this one but need to realize what it is. It’s sold really well at my store so far so people aren’t watching RUclips I guess 😂 also for a heavier runner the T22 should be top of your list
Is it the case of Saucony changing the Ride to a wanna be Swiss Army knife that moved into the traditional use case of the previous Triumph? With the new Triumph moving into the realm of "for bigger runners"?
It would seem Saucony was afraid of making something that might compete with their Endorphin Speed range and pivoted the Triumph. Oh well, the Ride is cheaper anyhow!
Do you think these company’s get a great affordable shoe that takes the lime light away from there more expensive models then nerf the next literation so you buy there more flagship models? If you get my line of thinking,it’s like oh you want versatile light and comfortable maybe buy our pro 4 or speed 4 xtra £50 here want trails buy our £200 one etc etc
@Eddbud, did you end up trying the shoe with a PWRRUN+ sock liner? I have a half dozen of them stashed, and I use them in lots of different shoes. I’ll end up trying this as well at some point.
Recently got some Triumph 21 having ran the sole off my Triumph 18s....very impressed with the added softness and the glove-like fit....prefer them to my Invincibles actually....
Hey there Ed bud I’m looking for I new shoe I have the sl2 as my main daily trainer and I love it but my novablast three are pretty much dead so I need another daily shoe but I’m also increasing in mileage and I’m needing a long run shoe. I was thinking about picking up the prime X strung 2 and seeing if it could be used for both otherwise I am open to buying up two shoes respective to their own category just wondering your thoughts
Hey Edd, check your inbox. There’s an email from Chris “Fordy” Ford for a collab video (maybe it went to the spam folder). Great review on this Triumph 💪🏼 lol on the rubber hardness 😂 quite happy with my Triumph 20, still in the beginning of its shelf life.
Completely agreed with this review. Had the 20s and 21s. Feels heavy and not a shoe you can push the pace with compared to previous versions. It's now a treadmill shoe. Grab the Brooks Glycerin 21s instead.
Saucony can make whatever shoe they like if they think there's a market for it. The issue is that people expect something specific from a triumph. If they'd retired the triumph name and called the new one something else, I think it would be clearer. People risk getting caught out with it being called triumph.
Well, that's sad. I'd like a max cushion long run/recovery shoe from Saucony because I enjoy the Endo Speed so much. All they have to do is dial down the plate (or get rid of it) and add 4-5mm of midsole. 8mm is about as much drop as I find still comfortable, 10 is a lot. Of course, this all physical measurement and not actual performance of deformation of the midsole during gait. Some 12mm drop shoes run like 6mm drop shoes. I pity the fool that gets these instead of Superblast.
People are also different, that’s why sneakers can be so different. In this variety, you can find your pair, from which you can enjoy running. For example, I don’t like the Nike Infinity Run4; the foam underfoot is not at all comfortable. I didn’t like the React X, it looks like the next generation of Nike sneakers is not for me.
Hi i've been watching many shoe reviews and for my next running pair i am having a crisis deciding between the Takumi Sen 9 and the Deviate Nitro 2. Which out of these two shoes are faster/better?
Great review as always. Just watching you run in the shoes, it is evident that the upper was too large, maybe even "sloppy loose". Shoes often come in wide models, how about offering narrow options for those with slender feet? As far as weight, I have mixed emotions. To me it is more important how the shoe feels, than how light it is. Especially for a trainer. It wasn't that long ago when 12.5 ounces was considered decent for an average men's shoe. The point is, you do your training in a slightly heavier shoe and then on race day, you step down to a lightweight racer and it has to feel awesome, inspiring you to run fast.
Not sure why they have gone so heavy on the stability aspect when they already make the Guide, but as someone who needs slight support when I run rather than a fully blown support shoe, this may be worth a punt. The mega durable looking sole is a big plus for me. I can't stand these over-priced shoes that start to look knackered within a few hundred Kms. If I pay, I want them to last!
I didn’t like the 22 the first couple of runs, but it has grown on me. I don’t know if it’s me or if the foam is breaking in., but I am beginning to enjoy it. My go-to shoe though is the Ride 17.
Hi Edd -- many thanks for all the videos! Question: how would you compare the Triumph 21 (not 22) to the A -A SL2? Does one have more oomph than the other? Thanks,
Man, I never get tired of the Eels! And I never get tired of hearing other fans share in the Eels love too! Mr E’s Beautiful Blues somehow made it in the soundtrack for the movie Roadtrip, and in retrospect, it was about the only thing about that folk that wasn’t cringeworthy. Novocain For The Soul is another objectively great track. There are two types of people in the world: those who like the Eels, and those who don’t like music.
This one is an absolute nay from me
Tried this at the London Marathon Expo, felt like a brick! Not the shoe for me.
Umm so you seem to agree with another reviewer who did not like this shoe which another one took issue with. Between you all have decided it's not one I have any need of and fundamentally that is why I watch these vids so thanks for saving my money :)
It’s probably superb if you wan max cushion and have a wider foot than me. Just not something that really hits the spot for my rotation
Yowanna and others concur; step backward for Saucony.
You have to wonder what their internal product process; design much heavier than 20/21, less energy return and cush, why move forward with production?
I really enjoyed the 21. Disappointed about the changes for the 22 so it’ll be a nay for me
So let’s get to the bottom line…
There’s no reason to buy this shoe whatsoever; many better choices for the same or less $$$, including 20 and 21, which are going for $80-$90.
"Even Mr. T would think twice" ... that was funny! 🤣 Your reviews are entertaining. I love them.
Thanks for tuning in!
As a 90 kg heelstriker the 22 works for me just fine.
what about for walking? are they comfy? asking bc already bought it, maybe this will be also daily my walking shoe since i am also on heavier side
I think I'll pass during these times of fiscal turbulence. I used my Soar Solstice reward to pick up a pair of shorts. It's only way I could afford them out of the money I got from the empties 🍻
Softer than the leather on Rodders best Gucci’s.
Dankeschön! I never had Saucony...well this one will be not for, I am much to light for it 😅
🥉

Lovely looking shoe. Just too soft and bulky for me! Like pillows
I’m not well, I’ll get back to podium chasing soon hopefully.
Hope you get back to form soon sir 👊👍🏼
Really terrible update IMO. Haven't seen a single positive review and how they can make a PEBAX based foam so lifeless is beyond belief. Too heavy, too padded, too dull and a big thumbs down. Pop in a PWRRUN+ insole, transforms the ride of the shoe
Will give it a go! 👍🏼

It’s a good shoe in terms of cushion but more for the wider foot and heavier built folks than me
Agreed. I can’t put enough torque into the midsole either.
Is it the case of Saucony changing the Ride to a wanna be Swiss Army knife that moved into the traditional use case of the previous Triumph? With the new Triumph moving into the realm of "for bigger runners"?
Yeah it’s very wide even as in this normal width version
HELLO!
As you’d say - they’ve nerfed it. So disappointing. Just got to try and nurse my 20s through to 50,000 miles. That shoe is perfect.
Very fair review Edd! I had high hopes for this release. Luckily, I have the Triumph 20 and Tempus on my shoe rack.
Having run in the 19, 20, and 21 I’ll be skipping these and see if I can find some 20’s to stock up on.
It's very kind of saucony to save people money. Going forward it just means I'll buy the ride rather than the ride and the triumph.
Curious to see how the NB More V5 will perform which is coming out in July
Hi
🥈
Thank you for providing an honest review. Most RUclips reviews now are some kind of promotion.. When did Kafuzi give a negative review? ❤
It would seem Saucony was afraid of making something that might compete with their Endorphin Speed range and pivoted the Triumph. Oh well, the Ride is cheaper anyhow!
Yeah the ride is the ticket for 8mm fans
I'm starting to like the Kinvara Pros.
Triumph 20 better than 21 and 21 better than 22... Same for me with the Speed 2 and 3 and 4. I am actually running more in Mizuno now 😂.
The speed 4 though even took on weight. It’s a weird trend. That’s why the Adizero sl2 is so good!
@@EDDBUD must try adidas shoe last time I bought a pair they always too narrow in toebox
@Eddbud, did you end up trying the shoe with a PWRRUN+ sock liner? I have a half dozen of them stashed, and I use them in lots of different shoes. I’ll end up trying this as well at some point.
Hey Garry! Haven’t yet but you have reminded me to do so! 👍🏼👊
Bed Ud

The strung 2 is ok but not a patch on the v1. That said I got lots of comfortable miles in
how could they make this shoe less versatile? It makes no sense. It’s like they tried to fix problems that didn’t exist.
speaking of eels, did you come across the band "Being Dead", Edd? check out their new album "eels", i think you might dig it.
I will check it out
I think the T21 is the definitive triumph!
Sounds like this would be a good shoe for a heavier runner who needs stability, that colourway is outstanding.
Yeah it’s a looker. But too soft and plush for me.
Nice one.
Thanks!
❤

Listen to the album exai, from autechre
Looks like this shoe is a case of "gotta get worse, before it get's better" 😅
Completely agreed with this review. Had the 20s and 21s. Feels heavy and not a shoe you can push the pace with compared to previous versions. It's now a treadmill shoe. Grab the Brooks Glycerin 21s instead.

Didn’t quite feel as versatile as the 21
@@EDDBUD then if I come across some 21's at nice price I won't think trice. Mr T wouldn't think twice.
I think the foam feels funny to the touch. Which wouldn't matter if it was a good shoe to run in, but I thought I'd mention it.
Saucony needs to go back to Triumph 20 and Start Over.
I think they replaced the previous triumph with the Ride 17
!!!Saucony for ever!!!. A good description. Like to EDDBUD. Have a great day.
Thanks for watching!
Looks like they really pooped the bed with this one. Don't be afraid to go lower with your scores...this shoe deserves it imo lol.

The Pegasus is growing on me. Got some more miles in and the react x is softening up
What's the logic with heavy, hot, clogs for everyday running shoes? Maybe they will last longer cos you don't want to put them on..
I think it’s aimed at heavier built folks after max cushion and not much else
Sadly the Triumph was ruined for me when it went to a 10mm drop. Unfortunate really, as it was and probably is an excellent shoe.
Yeah too aggressive for easy stuff for me
Bit clunky looking for me. Will you be reviewing the revamped New Balance 860 v14’s soon? 🤞
Tempted by a new balance. But the rebel 4 was a total dud for me
Once they went to a 10mm drop Saucony ruined the Triumph for me. I stocked up on version 19 with their 8mm drop.
Yeah the 10mm drop is a bit aggressive for this type of shoe
Hi i've been watching many shoe reviews and for my next running pair i am having a crisis deciding between the Takumi Sen 9 and the Deviate Nitro 2. Which out of these two shoes are faster/better?
Sen is more a 10k lower distance racer for me
I’m really enjoying the Brooks Ghost Max at the moment. How does this shoe compare to the ghost max?
The ghost a bit less bulky and somehow softer despite the foam being more rubbery
ONE MILLION SUBSCRIBERS!! (insert dr evil emoji here)
🤣🤣

My go-to shoe though is the Ride 17.
Hope that happens to me!
Kind of disappointed with the changes, I’m interested in Ride 17.
Did review that a while back
Comment for the algorithm!
Hi Edd -- many thanks for all the videos! Question: how would you compare the Triumph 21 (not 22) to the A -A SL2? Does one have more oomph than the other? Thanks,
The sl2 is way more usable across the effort levels
@@EDDBUD - great, thank you!
Triumph 22 is a banger. It saved my wide feet. Using for shorter distance and easy runs.
Glad it’s working for you. Bit too much room for me
I really start to like it with every run a bit more
Maybe it will get better. Just very wide and too plush for me
Christmas lights , ahead of the game Edd
My son likes them. Plus I repaired the cable after the cat chewed it up!
👊🏼🤖‼️
I love the triumph 22
Glad it’s working for you

They do rock. Super light on head too
