Heavenyl:) DANKE!!!
This is one of those rare transcendental moments when the singer uses his sublime art to illuminate the song and reveal the shining genius of the composer. Breathtakingly beautiful. Thank you.
Ronnie67 you're going to hate me, but I need to share, that I just noticed for the first time, how much the girl in the Vermeer looks like Lady Gaga 😮 #cantunsee
Stunningly beautiful and humble. I feel the same awe when listening to the amazing countertenor ANDREY NEMZER singing SAINT FRANCIS PRAYER. Such humility and inspiration!.
No! It is well established nowadays that this is a piece by Gottfried Heinrich Stölzel (1690-1749). If you want to believe your own stories also on this subject continue doing so...
For years, my "daily prayers" have been "An die Musik", ""Music for a While" and "Jesu, joy of man's desiring" (played by the great Lipatti). Lately, I have added this one. Thanks again.
@@RM-tc9pu you caught me during the creative process - I am preparing a new tour "House churches of St. Petersburg". Schubert, Purcell, Bach and dear Andreas - what could be more beautiful for a surge of creativity ?! Thank you... :)

It's odd isn't it.I have come across a few(only a few) singers who sing lieben, whereas all the websites that list lyrics say schonen! Quite why they change only one word is beyond me.
This will definitely be my' end of life' piece---and the dates of Bach(1685-1750) and Vermeer(1632-1675) are not really that far apart also ,in my view, they are both unsurpassed heavenly talents. You are right in saying that the MOVIE - 'The Girl with the Pearl Earring-'and every aspect of it -has no relation to either the high level of Bach's sublime music or the purity and beauty of the life and works of Vermeer .
@Tenorlyrico89 Vermeer's masterpiece is Beauty and Light of life ....as well as Bach Music... And Andreas Scholl's voice is Gift from God. Harmony! :) So I uploaded this video in this way. Thank you for your interesting comment btw :)
Hm, I don't really know but for me as a native speaker the pause there doesn't feel wrong. I suppose one could sing it in one phrase but imho it sounds just right this way. There's also that one note that seems to indicate a pause was intended by Stoelzel.
I wonder why 'geh ich mit Freuden Zum Sterben und Zu meiner Ruh' is never sung in one phrase.......since it is all one sentence and certainly not outside the capabilities of such wonderful singers as Mr Scholl

Immer wieder-
ergreifend und schön

This song always touches my heart not only the melody...but also the meaning of the text !!
parfaitement dit
Andreas Scholl's voice makes this beautiful song sublime.
His voice is hauntingly beautiful....makes me cry every time
❤
AMAZING!!!! I love it too.....and hearing Andreas Scholl sing it was perfection. Thanks.
Für meine Beerdigung gewunscht
What a heavenly voice. Such a beautiful combination with the Painting of Johannes Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring.
Ronnie67 :) agree with You :) thank You :)

Hi Stefan. Well, about the topic.. who knows... if you believe in reincarnation maybe she is.. ;)
Stunningly beautiful and humble. I feel the same awe when listening to the amazing countertenor ANDREY NEMZER singing SAINT FRANCIS PRAYER. Such humility and inspiration!.
Die unglaubliche Stimme.
The best version. So delicate and reserved!
Andreas Scholl at his best
YES, he is.
So very Beautiful Andreas
Great recording. Scholl is so wonderful. Thanks for posting.
Divine...I adore his voice...I want to hear it in my deathbed...so comforting for soul's departure...Thank you for posting this.
Remembering a beloved father 35 years on. Soon to be together again. What bliss.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
God be praised, for Andreas Scholl, for J.S.Bach, and for the mystery they praise.
Well, that's a composition of Gottfried Heinrich Stölzel (1690-1749) actually and, by the way, god does not exist either.
And he exists yet. :D
and it is from Bach.
Does it hurt?
Our opinions differ strongly on this subject.
No! It is well established nowadays that this is a piece by Gottfried Heinrich Stölzel (1690-1749). If you want to believe your own stories also on this subject continue doing so...
Music from heaven
His voice is unique. On YT you'll find his "Venus birds". Extraordinarily beautiful.
Sounds beautiful and so sad!
Effing awesome!
I'm so glad you re-uploaded this. Definitely one of the best interpretations of the Stölzel's mythical Aria!
This is so beautiful it made me weep!
traurige Gedanken aus göttlichen
Tommorow I get my first countertenor lesson! I´m very excited!

Thank you so much !
Beautiful music
When thou art near, I go with joy
To death and to my rest.
O how pleasant would my end be,
If your fair hands
Would close my faithful eyes.
I like this song. Sad but beautifull faith song sung lovely. The famous picture-shown is traveling now in Japan!!
Stunning! 🌌

Lovely!
Please, please, please.... Where did you get this recording? It must be on a CD somewhere. I must have it! Andreas' voice is so very beautiful here
Beautifully sung, I love his voice!!!
But WHY does he sing "lieben Hände" where it is "schönen Hände"?
lieber Hände = loving hands
Schönen Hände = beautiful hands
It's odd isn't it.I have come across a few(only a few) singers who sing
lieben, whereas all the websites that list lyrics say schonen!

I think you can search for the music from the movie Merry Christmas
Music by Philippe Rombi

Merveilleuse pièce que celle-ci
@Tenorlyrico89 yes.... now we know Angels can sing... Divine...
.... la traduzione della tua risposta è ..... bella...
agree ...
what instrument is playing in the background? it sounds like a very quiet organ
Harpsichord
No, it's actually years of hard work on his part and natural predisposition.
Stolzel wrote this not Bach.
You can ask Andreas about it... :)
Summer Collins--"Bist Du Bei Mir" by Bach (acoustic version)
Summer Collins not Bach,
@kefaad I am glad You like it
BachLoveNat
@Nireo79
i agree with you :)
@jplemaitre2000 thank You ...
@Tenorlyrico89 it looks like Eternity ...
Eternity as Bach...

I don't feel like the sentence is separated either... :-)
i believe the painting is by vermeer.
