Used to have opening credits that gave it a real movie like feel. I've watched some lets play of people new to it, and they just were confused by this long drawn out walk sequence.
You were missing out, my man. It's definitely something else, when they couldn't just count on "graphics" to make a character and had to try to write something interesting.
The song is in minor, so when played with multiple instruments it can sound uplifting but when stripped down, its core theme will be the only one on show. It's an inherently sad song. Which is fitting since it's a theme about a girl who spent her life captivity and was basically a slave.
Not as bad as I'd heard, the mountains look suitably dark and intimidating even if the snow is brighter. Still one of my favorite moments in my entire life.
This is the only one i cared about, still looks great imo and i have the Steam version ready on PC for Wed at noon or w/e the unlock time is. Really hoping for the PR to release on consoles at some point this year, definitely would buy on my Switch.

The soundtrack is amazing, the story, the characters and the overall grandiosity of this game just set it apart from other games in the FF series. It's my personal favorite. If you haven't seen any spoilers yet, I would try to avoid them as the game has some really cool moments.
It's considered one of the best games in history. You're in for rollercoaster of emotions. This game will change you as a person. Hopefully you're ready for it.

It's cool, but why do they walk so slow in this version? The movements of the armor and the scrolling is like a snail's pace compared to the original. It's a little off-putting for me. They seem to have respected the original music, though, which is great! I was afraid they would deviate too much like in some of the other PR titles.
The animations are definitely less smooth. Supposedly they're still working on that, so, take that as you will. The biggest miss for me (that I'm pretty sure they don't intend on changing) is the color of the sky. It was black in the original, and I think it just fit the scene better, but that's just a preference.
I can’t wait to play this version of the 18 year old classic RPG! Too bad that the developers have to patch out the Ghost Train glitch. It would’ve been amazing to see Sabin Suplexing the train like the original.

Removing the text during this sequence was such a dumb decision. Now it's just a pointlessly long sequence. At least there was a reason for it being long in the original due to there being credits.
The pixel collection is coming to the switch so I'm waiting anyways I beat the advance version and did everything 100% FF6 is my second favorite game in the series
How long do we think they walked? Did they come through the desert of Figaro into an immediate blizzard of Narshe? Or did they trudge through mountains and rivers from the eastern base at Doma? Also, has anyone else ever noticed at least half of the northern continent is mountainous with a giant desert directly between 2 ranges?
They still use the same lame menus/fonts. The monsters don't really look that great neither. Hopefully banon raft is good and they make Cyan and Umaro better.
I’m hoping for the minecart (not to be mistaken for the train scene which is the forest) cause that screamed MODE 7 all over lol. The only sample for hd2d was the opera scene so I’m hoping to see what else they had to polish up to delay this long.

Blue really ought to have the timer reversed: select a technique from the menu and THEN he concentrates for the delay on that selection while you can go on with other character commands. (Mind you, just halving the charge time does a lot to improve him.)

That isn't what this series is. The pixel remaster series is SPECIFICALLY just cleaning up the ORIGINAL sprites. They aren't trying to stylistically change the game. This opening always used mode 7.

Man, I always cringe when people say "the original XYZ was MUCH better" but the original theme is actually better. They sped it up a bit too much, the flute is too overpresent and the rest is too wide in the back. The rearrangement made it worse imho.
They took away the credits which is fine. The entire point of the original having a long mech walk into town was to roll the credits so if you did away with the credits, why do we need to see some robot butts for the entirety? Why not shrink down the scene and music and make them arrive faster to Narshe?

the game is a bit of a downgrade, which makes me scared of how they're going to ruin FFT :/ this is nothing more than an RPG Maker iteration of the game with a few inserts (the opera). ironically this scene is slow while the rest of the game plays way too fast with some er... mediocre spell animations. the final boss was defeated way too fast, not because of a high damage team, but because all actions happen too fast. there's no immersion.

I remember the original feeling smoother. At least the music is well done, and the pixel art wasn't ruined, unlike the other remakes.
CRT TVs made all this pixel stuff look smoother. I don't know if there's a filter for it in-game

Play it on a 13 inch screen it will probably look amazing. The TVs this game was played on in the 90s where not very big for most people.
The walking animations have been slowed down a lot for some reason, so it looks more choppy.

They're in the mountains above Narshe so my guess since the 90's has always been that they were air dropped nearby on a ship coming from the capital.
