10:30 THAT’s what I needed. Gave up reinstalling my lines around midnight, because I could not figure how to put those clips back on. Most important part of this job, IMO. Thanks for posting.
I used to pull the top steel core support like you did. No need. Remove the intake tube, remove the 2 radiator bolts and the radiator and condenser will both fold back enough to clear that upper core support.
This is a terrific video! Probably the best mechanic video I’ve ever seen. I’ve subscribed. I’m still going to have a professional tackle this 🤓, but I like knowing exactly what needs to be done. Thank you!
I just replaced one of these condensers in a 2017 GMC Yukon. I left the upper radiator support bolted in. I unbolted the radiator upper mounting bolts. Then I leaned the radiator and the condenser assembly back towards the engine. I pulled it out behind the upper core support. That way you don't have to mess around with those bolts on the bottom side of the upper core support. I also if I were you would not show yourself venting r1234yf into the atmosphere. Now if you evacuate the system with a recovery machine and it's under vacuum. You won't get in trouble with the EPA. Now I don't know what country you're in. But in the United States of America if somebody sees that contacts the government and you can be in a world of hurt for venting that. Just carrying so hopefully you don't create a liability for your company and yourself.
@@hardlymovingpro I know but the world has gone insane. Government getting bigger. If you do it for one vehicle government could say you're doing it for all. Just awareness. Those core support bolts and headlight interference is insane.
Great video. Question: when ordering the new condenser, is there a upgraded one that doesn’t have the problems the oem has? Also, does every condenser have the built in trans cooler? I’m seeing black painted ones, non painted ones etc.
I wouldn't get the factory ACDELCO brand since that's what was being replaced in this video and didn't last that long. I recommend GDP, UAC or OSC brands since they're ac experts. Others are Spectra, CSF and TYC. Had good luck with TYC. Painting adds a layer of aluminum oxidation protection; a nice to have but not necessary IMHO. The condenser / trans cooler combo is a GMC design that other manufacturers don't follow.
Before to remove all moisture or air. Then recharge with refrigerant. With both vacuum in the lines and pressure from the refrigerant, you get to 60 psi or more before needing to start the car to activate the pump to start sucking in more refrigerant.
Fantastic video, I'll tackle this job this weekend. My new condenser has a round plastic crew and a rubber washer right at the bottom of the condenser accumulator. It seems it was not very tight and in the packing show some oil mark in the card board. Did yours have the plug as well. What is that for?.
Thanks! If I understand you correctly, the plastic screw and rubber washer are there to keep your new parts sealed and to prevent moisture from getting in prior to installation.
@@hardlymovingpro Thank you for your quick response. should I leave it?. The rubber washer does not give me much confidence. it is just bellow the vertical accumulator in the driver side.
Great Video but you commented it was Three (3) 12ounce cans of Freon that need to be added to the system but when I look online it states .92kg = 32.45 ounces. Will putting all 36 ounces in the system hurt the compressor or other components?
You'll have around 3 to 4 oz trapped in the high and low pressure manifold lines. You can always migrate the trapped pressure from the high side to the low side hose by: 1. Closing off the high side quick connect valve. 2. Opening the high side manifold valve which will allow the gas to migrate to the low side.
Forgot to get back with y'all on the condenser job everything went fine. The video was a big help. I look forward to the other he puts out in the future
Looking forward to changing out on my 2016 Suburban. QUESTION: Around 8:31 of this video, did you reuse bot O-rings or change them while the camera was paused?
I changed mine but now the ambient temperature is showing -40, I double check the sensor and it looks like it’s well connected. Do you know about this ?
Hey I just wanted to verify you put in the description 2.5 ounces of pag oil to add when replacing the condenser. Is this the correct amount I can’t find anything online for the amount.
Nice! Does your ac lines at the bottom of the condenser have a small gap? Like not sitting flush?! Mine appears to have a gap in between. Hopefully it’ll hold vacuum lol
I just completed this job today and yes, this one I did has a gap there. As long as both lines have seated and sealed properly it shouldn’t be an issue. I had no issues with vacuum or recharge.
You are welcome! Two AC Delco A/C Condenser O-Rings Needed: GM#13579649, this is for the smaller 3/8" line and GM#13579648 for the larger 1/2" line. Do not buy A/C Evaporator O-Rings, they are too big.
Dude - Excellent video! You actually show what needs to be done instead of talking a bunch and skipping steps. Very much appreciated.
Thanks! Glad you liked it.
Best video on this condenser replacement. Made 300$
Good for you!
Great video! Love the additional time to pause showing a bolt clearly and also the arrows and circles. Thank you!

Excellent video, detailed steps, I ran into the same issues with the transmission line into the condenser. Thank you!!!!
Thanks for you critique!

Thanks for sharing your story. In the video, there was only a minor amount of residual refrigerant in the system due to the broken, leaking condenser.

Do you vacuum the system before or after?
Thanks so much for this video. Helping me avoid paying an arm and a leg and also survive the Texas heat

I changed them with new ones.
Hi there is two small holes on my new condencer other than the one for the lines what are those for ?
For the transmission oil. Condenser does both refrigerant and trans oil cooling.
I changed mine but now the ambient temperature is showing -40, I double check the sensor and it looks like it’s well connected. Do you know about this ?
Can't say without being there.
Great video man can you reuse the ac line o rings ?
You could be advise against it. The old o ring(s) may have slightly deformed which might prevent a good seal.
Looks like fun.
If you enjoy doing this type of work!

hey would this video work for a 2014 chevy sonic lt?????? please i need to know! there are literally no videos that are this detailed
Don't think so. The Sonic is a car. This video is for GMC V8 trucks and SUV'S.
Do you need to empty A/C liquid before to replace the condenser?
When the ac lines are opened, the "a/c liquid" or refrigerant quickly evaporates.

Around 3 hrs
Sounds like you had pressure and no leak with it spewing off
Just residual pressure.
