@@johnnysweekends I bought the way overpriced EU7000is this year, wow, that's a nice unit. Not lifting that one ever! It doesn't even vibrate or wiggle when started and runs at such a nice low idle (around 2400rpm). Obviously a 5500 continuous rating from Honda is a huge underrate. That FI GX390 has the nuts to run a 7000watt load all day if necessary. So maybe not way overpriced after all! Buy once-cry once...and some folks have over 10,000 hours on them.
Yeah I saw that too. I once borrowed a very heavy 6500 PSI gas engine powered industrial pressure washer from my work to clean my house brick. This thing weighed probably 200 lb...very heavy... I could barely roll it in the grass to the back of my house. A forklift brought it out to me on a pallet. I kind of scratched my head and said how am I going to get this into my Toyota four-wheel drive truck, which was pretty high. The pallet didn't fit with the bed liner in there so they couldn't just sit it in the back. The big 330 lb operator who brought it out to me said move, grabbed it by both ends, picked it up and put it into the back of my truck like it was nothing. When I was done using it at home it took two of us and a ramp to get it back into that truck. I recently bought a champion 100719... Packaged on a pallet the lading bill said 244 lb. The generator is 215. I had to cut the box out from around it. It would have been nice if you could have taken the top off the box after taking out some Staples, and have the sides just fold down. But it was all one piece heavily stapled together
It is a nice unit for sure. And FI is a nice feature especially for elevation which will help. Wish it was a dual fuel model as propane is nice for fuel storage. And yes that’s one heavy unit. Much like anything all depends wha you need.
Dammit, this happens every time I upgrade my home backup generator. I bought the Westinghouse WGEN 9500DF last year and then this came out. Sigh. And I promised my wife I wouldn't buy another generator or power bank this year. That thing is crazy quiet! Like as quiet as the Sportsman 2200 I got a couple years ago. Nice to finally see a propane powered unit this quiet at this capacity finally. And with remote start! Great review. Thanks!
@@johnnysweekends seriously. I am forbidden from making any more power related purchases till the Bluetti AC200Max is paid off. Only 16 more months of $100 payments left to go! Curse you, Klarna!
I got my GM7250iEDC a couple of weeks ago and I have the updated version with a different front cover plate. I was surprised to see a magnet at the end of the oil dipstick so that was a plus. I did the break-in and converted it to a floating neutral. Tested the 7250 by connecting it to my house and handled some appliances well especially with the air fryer, microwave, small electric stove, and small electric kettle. I turned on the dryer and the surge from that caused the home inside lights to flicker but the generator increased idle to compensate. So far, I am happy with it's performance.
Bought this gen from AMZ on sale July 4 for 1359. Very quite and loaded with features. I was sold on the 50 amp outlet so I could put max amp's right to my breaker panel. This one runs on a 312cc engine, an thing bigger mostly run on a 459cc engine which is more of a gas hog. You don't want a gas hog when all the gas stations are out of gas or no power to pump. The propane is a nice feature too, you end your run time on propane and you rinse the system of that nasty ethanol that will leave residue and give you trouble at the next disaster. For noise, with it running outside in front of my garage I can bareley hear it in the living room, go to the next room and you have to listen to hear it.
How is shutting off the has flow to the carb, and switching the line to propane going to burn off the fuel in the carb? That makes no sense. It's just going to burn propane and not the residual fuel in the carb.
Hi Johnny. Great video. Wondering if you can do a video on the the GenMax 7250 VS the AiPower GSX7100iRD ? GenMax is $1699 AiPower is $1299 or $999 on sale. Both DUEL fuel, but when AiPower runs out of Propane it automatically switches over to gas by itself!! When you put a full LPG back on it switches to LPG, that’s its priority. Look at that runtime when it does it by itself. Incredible! Electric start/(2)Remotes and recoil. It has a 30amp 4 prong and a 50amp plug on the console front. The THD on the GenMax is less than 5 THD Total harmonic distortion which is good for sensitive equipment. The AiPower 7100 has less than 3THD which is a cleaner sine wave for sensitive equipment, 3 being better than 5 don’t you agree? The DB ratings on both are similar, both super quiet inverter Generators. It has a tube to drain the oil and a tube to drain the fuel from the Carburetor, that’s great and they tuck away as well. The display and its many functions are amazing on the AiPower. There is no ATS switch like the GenMax has. It has parallel connections on the AiPower as well, with rubber covers to cover all the receptacles from rain. 120/240 capable as well. Comes with handle and large wheels to move around. I considered the GenMax ($1699) but the price I paid in 12/2022 for the GXS7100iRD was $999 on sale at Costco free delivery. Now it’s $1299 with free delivery, now that’s a lot lower than $1699 for GenMax, don’t you agree? Please compare side by side so your fans can decide which one they should purchase. The AiPower has a 4 Year Residential Warranty ! Thanks for all your hard work. Mike ienuso “Subscriber”.
I have considered this unit before and I have nothing bad to say about Aipower as they seem to have good units as well. I will look into this 👍🏼😀 Thanks for the sub..👍🏼👊🏼
Do another video and let us know how reliable it has been after a year of use. Then we can get an actual idea of the quality . Does it stay similar in quietness after a year as well?
Most any generator will add a little bit of db noise but it’s minimal. About 1 maybe 1.5 db from when it was new. But that takes a lot of hours 500 and beyond. Most units if they have issues will be in the first 100 hrs or less. After that it’s more the user and either neglect or abuse. But yes will see how this does in the first hours.
thanks for the video. Picked one up for camping and home backup. It's definitely quieter than running 2 2kw units in parallel. Noticed the front panel layout is different on mine. Did they change more than just the layout? Handle still rattles along with the fuel strainer and wheels. Fairly quiet for it's size but has a lot of squeaks, rattles and a just random panels making sounds. It also shakes significantly at idle. Power output is as advertised. Jury is out. Going to work on fixing the rattles and make a decision from there. There isn't much competition out there in this size / weight.
There is a new version coming maybe you got a early release. Over all it’s a good unit. Keep me updated would you. Always like to know how several of these are doing. 😀👍🏼
1 year update. Handle pulled out of the unit on the 3rd use. Contacted support and was told it is not available. Amazon would not allow a return on a genset. Put it away since it's now a nightmare to move around. Pulled it out 3 days ago to charge the battery and now the screen does not work. Contacted support again and they said they would send replacements then said I am past the 1 year. Still awaiting a final decision. Even if they send parts this will need to be completely torn down and for the money it costed vs the runtime I don't think it should be having these issues. Total runtime is 6 hours for break in, 2 hours load test and 5 hours running a bounce house blower. I would not depend on this unit or the warranty.
Would like to see the output of it running parallel @50amp. This might be an option to get rid of the LOUD Onanan ...would like to see a fuel usage side by side.

We bought the GenMax 7250 on the strength of Johnnys review and it's been amazing. We charge our EV6 with it in power outage's and use it with our RV in the desert. Nicely built products. About the same size as the Predator 3500. Would like to see availability of the extended run tank & gas cap for the GenMax..
Awesome Im glad its working good for you. How many hours?? Any issues so far. I like to keep up with products to make sure im recommending products that hold up. Of course any unit can have issues but just like to gather info from everyone I can…😀👍🏼
@@johnnysweekends changed the oil at 1 hour and again at 8 hours. Both times metal so Hoping next change it’s clear. Spark plug gap was a bit too much so adjusted that back to spec and it runs smoother. 30 hours now and I’ll change the oil soon.
Really impressed with those dB readings. Website says 8 hour runtime at 1/2 the rated capacity. I wonder if the engine is quieter or more efficient than a smaller generator running at say 80% capacity.
Well you want to buy a generator that runs in that 30-80% area for you use. Running at 80% and above most times means you should step up to the next larger size. Same with a smaller unit, if you using a big one at 30% and below then you should step down a size. This will save fuel, weight, and overall cost typically. But some people will buy a large and use it for multipurpose. But a big engine will need more fuel even in lower rpm’s verses a much smaller at medium rpm. If that makes sense lol
The Westinghouse is the same as the generac 2200 models as well and yes loud. I would buy many others over those. But they are using a Yamaha mz80 motor so they are a smaller cc so a little more fuel efficient till you get to about 60-70% rom range. Then a larger unit would be better.
Compare the owners manuals of the GM7500aIED and the GM7250IEDC and they are practically identical in performance, size, engine, tank size, etc. I can't see a $700 price difference between the two in a side by side comparison.
I found out about the 7500 models right when the 7250 got dropped off at my house. Couldn't return it because return shipping would be super expensive. I should've waited out and gotten the 7500.
@@BMWguy206 I'm sure it's one of those instances where Sam's Club (WalMart) being the 800-lb retail gorilla said to Genmax, "hey, we'll order xxx amount of units BUT we want them for this price and have our own exclusive model where they can't be price shopped". Been there, done that as I was a manufacturers rep for a car audio company years ago and WalMart wanted 6 SKU's in their stores....BUT...to do so, they bartered my normal commission rate from 9% down to .5% and STILL had to visit them and kiss their butts. The commission was nice, not 9% nice, but dealing with them was a pain. I'm debating on buying a 2nd one for being able to run in parallel with their GM9000PK kit but can't decide if I really need two or not. lol Thanks for the reply! Great video.
@BMWguy206 Does the 7250'd hour meter start over every time you run it or is it a total history run time? My 7500 seems to start over each time so I guess I'll order an hour meter as I would rather it show total time.
@@avguytx4361 On my 7250, the display shows total run time. I currently have a little over 12 hours on my 7250. That sucks that the time resets on the 7500 everytime you run it.
It’s a nice new unit, impressed so far, will see how it does down the road. And yea watchdog made by Hughes Autoformers makes a bunch of great products along with voltage boosters as well. And yes views doing better then expected..! 👍🏼😀 Take care buddy..👊🏼
I know you said it was California legal and you’ve never steered us wrong, I just went online to check it from the link lol and Amazon said it would not ship it to my area I was looking for a good home back up generator not too big not too small easy to maneuver.
Wow, I know I just did too. But it’s already out of stock and I know sometimes that will change the areas it will ship. So let’s see what happens in a few days or a week when it’s back in stock and see if Amazon will allow CA delivery. I know sometimes they like to make there own rules and honestly it posses me off. Certain generators I see in stores like tractor supply and more, when you go to Amazon says will not ship. Absolutely stupid!!! I can buy a champion 4650 right now at tractor supply in CA but if I go online it says will not ship. Absolutely bs. So I think sometimes they do a little of what they want.
Oh, one other thing I would like to mention. He showed that red anodized aluminum dip stick. I have one for my Predator. I thought the darker oil would stick out on the red. At nearly 100 hours the oil is still so clean it's hard to see when I check the oil. I'm thinking maybe the natural aluminum might be better in this regard. ALSO! Aluminum is an awesome heat conductor. The manual says to check the oil frequently. That's fine, but that aluminum dipstick gets HOT where the plastic one is very manageable to the touch. Maybe put some tape on the head of that aluminum dipstick.
Great video. However, m a little confused how you can hook up your trailer to the unit while on 240v. Do you have to modify your trailer to reduce to 120? I have a 30 amp rockwood trailer with 13,500 btu unit and am trying to figure out sizing. Also you said wine running on a 3amp i me only get half the power? So only 3500ish watts?
I have the old Honda 3000I at my campsite, it shuts off with just a 1750W load after about 30 min all of the sudden. Might try this one as its got double the power. Might be a little loader than the old honda though
Great video. I ordered this generator and for the most part I am happy with it. I am however perplexed that the remote start connection to the generator goes into sleep mode. Genmax says it should go into sleep mode after 12 hours. Seems odd it would have it anyway, but mine does not last 6 hours. So in the morning, when boondocking, you cannot use the remote start to get the genny going to make coffee. You have to walk outside and push button start it. Have you experienced this? If so, have you experienced a workaround?
@JOHNNY'S WEEKENDS i have a 36 foot Shasta travel trailer. I got a killer deal on it. My wife's cousin owns a camper dealership and they were clearing out the 2022 models.
So when using the 50A plug with the setting on 120/240, that would be 25A per leg? I couldn’t run the full 50A on one side of the panel (or one leg) if I’m using the 120/240 setting?
So if the switch is over to 120v you get full 50 amp on one leg or 6000 watts. If the switch is on 240 you get 25 amps per leg giving you 3000 watts on each side or 6000 total.
@@johnnysweekends Thank you sir! I literally had my 50A inlet plug installed by an electrician less than 24hrs ago and I asked him the same thing. He just said “you get the full 50A, no such thing as 25A per leg.” Dumb question: Have you tried/tested putting more than 25A on one side of the panel when using the 240V setting?
I just got the same watch dog and I see you can put 240 volts through it just reading instructions and said 120 volts I’m guessing it’s each leg let me know if there’s anything else I need to do before running 240 thank you in advance
Yes it will be good for home back up and can be used for the RV as well. You can save some money as well as this is the same unit but cheaper 😀👍🏼 amzn.to/3PSX0p7
Thanks for the review. I have two questions. What is the sound level 23 ft away form the ass end (not the front)? What/how is the ATS port all about/for? A normal ATS would sense voltage and have a primary feed and maybe a time delay each way.
Larry the sound will change depending where it is and what it is sitting on. As you can see in the video when doing the sound checks if I set it on the grass it lowers it dramatically. But i could do a 1/4 or 30% load test and see what it does in my spot. I mainly dont do the rear even though I did but most people said they would have the rear facing away from where ever they reside. Which I agree but someone will probably hear the back. As for the ATS, it will have a delay to start. About 30 seconds or so then a warm up of about 30 seconds to a minute till power kicks out of the gen. I should have a updated model Transfer switch from them soon to test. 👍🏼
I bought this last week and so far happy with it! So when I was adding in the oil, i was looking for the oil filter but couldn’t find one. Do you know if it has one? Thanks.
One line has 120 volts and the other is dead when switched on 120v when switched to 240 volt both legs are hot providing 120 on two legs. These plugs follow NEC so single power will be on the left side of the ground is at the bottom.
First and foremost - thanks for all these incredible video reviews you create - the time and effort you put into them is greatly appreciated. Kudos to you 👍 I am so torn between this one and the 6000 for home backup. Not so much the specs/wattage, but rather the limited Genmax support and no return policy on Amazon. I just purchased and returned the A-iPower GXS7100iRD from Costco as it arrived with damage on all sides (including control panel), but no damage to the box, which leads me to believe they didn't really do much factory QC when packing it. So this is one of my main concerns with Genmax...the "what if" factor. The lack of support remarks scare me. Already wired with xfer panel, and coming from smaller wattage Wen & DuroMax non-inverter 240v, which have not failed and both had excellent tech support when needed. But trying to keep noise down for my neighbors, and can use some extra wattage, which is why I've been after a closed frame inverter. Honda / Yamaha outside of my budget.
I totally understand, Genmax has been coming out with units no other manufacturer has even thought of but as they continue to build and grow so do there customer support needs. I know when at the show in Vegas this was something I talked to them about. And they said they are expanding that department to fit the needs of more customers. Along with more parts to be able to fix the common items. Now I know this takes takes and hope they have continued. The 7250 is a nice unit. Much better than the 6000 in many ways. I like champion products as well but they have some serious gaps in the product line. So will see what happens with them.
@@johnnysweekends Have you had a chance to see the new Pulsar PGDA70BISCO? Very similar in appearance and (most) specs to the 7250iEDC. I'm guessing these are also coming from Genmax / Dinking? Oddly, Pulsar does not have the 50A 120/240 (only a 30A 120/240 twist and 30A RV), nor battery charging port or ATS. Pulsar also claims a 3 year limited warranty, but can't seem to find the details.... I did reach out to Pulsar for the manual, as the link on their site isn't working, but it doesn't mention warranty. I'll have to ask them again for the warranty paperwork. And the manual shows a control panel drawing with words "neutral floating"; while actual images of the panel are "neutral bonded to frame", so that's a pretty important typo for them to correct.
That's a nice unit but I don't see a lot of people using it for their RV due to the weight. 145 lbs empty then add 3 gallons of gas and your tipping 166 lbs. That's a lot of weight to lug in and out of the back of a truck. Are there some kind of hoist systems out there for lifting heavy loads like this into the back of your truck that are portable?
Yes there are many that’s either use a ramp or have small lift systems they have in there truck. And they are not that expensive. I didn’t know till a few years ago and saw a guy lowering his gen unit. I was like wow!! That’s cool lol. But sometimes he said he leaves it in the bed of his truck and has a cover. Just all depends what he was doing
This brand is interesting. I do have to wonder if they could not even get the correct amount of oil capacity correct in the owners manual what about the big stuff (unseen)?
This is like this with many known products from China. Unfortunately any company can make a mistake in the translation process. Not just this company but several. Even the battery stations have errors in there manual and more. Or like ecoflows smart generator. Errors in that as well. I’m not saying the company is perfect and that this is the best thing since sliced bread, but the company is doing well at adding new units no one else has and is listing to suggestions from people. And they make generators for other companies as well. This is there own line.
They are great but the price is hard to justify now with so many people getting thousands of hours of these other units just like a Honda would. So now where is the advantage? I know you can get parts and more, but if the Honda is triple the price..🤷♂️
It's amazing that it's 2023 and the access panels and oil fills to these $1,000 plus generators are still so rickety. They need to put some metal latches on these things.
Is their such a thing as a big capacitor that can be hooked up to small generator and handle surges like microwave for 2-3 minute when small generator by itself would fail?
It will handle it with out issues. Two 15k ac units running would be 3300 max watts when it’s hot out or around 3000 when temps are a little more mild.
I bought a Westinghouse RV ready 30-Amp, 4500-watt propane/gas inverter generator last week as backup power for my RV trailer and spent this weekend trying to figure out how to hook it up to trailers 50-Amp service. It only has the dyer type plug and two 120-vac outlets. I finally found a combiner Y-adapter which plugs into 30-Amp socket and one 20-Amp socket which then plugs into trailers 50-Amp cord. I wished I'd known about the Genmax sooner but I'm gonna keep what I bought because it can be double up with a second unit to create 9000-watts to handle both AC units and all of the trailers needs. Then I'm just learning about these onboard power centers with 12-volt converters and how the 120-volt side is unbeknownst to me, divided in two. Now knowing this I'm wondering just how much of this system will get powered up with this Westinghouse? There is a $600 dollar difference between the Genmax and the Westinghouse gensets. Trying to figure out if I made the right move or will I have to upgrade to an even bigger unit to power this RV trailer I live in full time. This Palomino RV has the plugin's for the solar system but I don't currently have one so I must rely on shore power / generator to supply converter to charge 12-volt system.
Yea the 50 amp service trailers seemed to be wired different sometimes. My last toy hauler could run both AC units from 30 service and would shed power when needed for as the microwave and then boost the AC again. My new 50 amp 5th can run both Ac units on the generator cord and a 30 amp circuit. 🤷♂️👍🏼
Missing from your excellent presentation is testing for pure sine wave output and presence of line noise. Those of us that use sensitive electronics and amateur radio equipment factor these issues in a purchase decision.
I thought about testing the sine waves again. But do you know how many I have seen that are bad….?? Zero… none… even the cheap crappy generators produce a pretty darn clean wave. But no body will buy those if they know what they are looking for. Every test I did using a friends a couple years ago all produced clean sine waves. If it’s a inverter generator meant to produce pure sine wave, then it will do just that, or it wouldn’t even sell as it seems everything is reviewed and tested these days. But if it appeases the audience then I can start testing them and show the results if you think everyone would benefit from it. There are a lot of cheaper testers now. Have you seen any units from the last few years that have not passed a oscilloscope test?
@@johnnysweekends No failures but I always scope for sine wave just in case. Line noise is sometimes an issue. Plugging in a small guitar practice amp will reveal noise if any. Thanks for your clear production.
True I do have a amp I could use. But yea they only reason it wouldn’t pass is from the inverter board failing. Which of course I hope wouldn’t happen on a new unit.
They do have a parts warehouse in San Diego which they are adding more components all the time. But any new product takes a while to get items. Even like a new car, ford had major problems with the mustang E, which took months to get fixed due to tech and no parts yet. Now sure that’s a little different but like anything new takes a little time for the parts supply. Now sure you may not get every part but eBay also has parts along with Alibaba, due to many of these units use the same engines and more. Can you rebuild it like a Honda ? No but it’s also not $5000.
You right. That's why I have a Yamaha EF3000ISEB which is 25 pounds lighter and has emission compliance period of 500 hours versus 250 this thing. Quality is not cheap and cheap is not quality for a reason.
Generic question. If it does not say HONDA on it, it does not have a Honda motor. What motors do the other 34 brands of generators use and how long do they last? Granted, you can buy 2 or 3 of the others for what one Honda costs. Just wondering.
If you read some of the comments which that’s up to you, many, many reports of predator, champion, and more roping into the thousands of hours with minimal issues or non. Just basic maintenance. Remember the user has something to do with your equipment. And generators like to be used more then sit. But there is one guy who is off grid, he gets about 4000 hrs on his little predators before they die. Which that’s about the same on the Hondas from a lot of reports. Maybe another thousand but he is also off grid and runs them almost non stop.
I purchased this genny One month ago, runs great on propane. On gas it runs great until it gets to 25% gas left in tank which is about a gallon left of a 3.6 gal. tank it will surge with or without a load. Ive tried to get some answers from factory techs. but no luck there or resolution. I know like most small engines it is gravity fed but for it to surge then stall with a gallon left doesnt seem right to me. Does the dual fuel switch cause a little restriction for a gravity fed unit or could there be something else i should look for? when i put more gas it runs fine but at the about gallon left it starts the surging. Hope you can help
Hmm maybe look for a kink in the fuel line? Yea that is definitely different to run weird with still a gallon or so. The propane part is not in use at all as the pin from the actuator remains open
It sounds like maybe the fuel being used up is causing a slight vacuum inside the gas tank. If you catch it right as it starts to surge and stall and you open the gas cap, does it go back to normal? It could also be if the gas tank is fairly flat that the vibrations of the engine itself are causing enough turbulence in the low fuel to introduce some air into the gas feed. Or the fuel line out of the tank is elevated inside the tank. Just some ideas to check.
Jeff great suggestions. I agree that if the fuel tube is to high and the vibrating fuel is causing aeration then of course it could cause the surging as it starves a little for fuel. I may take a peak at mine for the heck of it and see but so far no real issues with mine. But I also haven’t used it much and didn’t reall want to put gas in it as I wanted it as a propane model. And that way I dont have to worry about it sitting when im busy. But they get used here and there for videos or testing or something.
I have a 1993 international blue bird I am converting to a skoolie Question I spoke to a electrician that installs mini splits he came out saw the bus he suggested to get a 1 ton and 1/2 unit. Mainly because I live in FL and I need th a/c to keep the bus cool while I am at work for my pets. So I need advice on the type of generator I need to buy to make sure the a/c unit is running while the bus is off for up to 16 hours max. Any advice?
I would look at the newer Yamaha propane only onboards if you need that much power you’ll have it. Gonna burn some fuel though. May wanna look into alot of solar
@@terrygreen8676 I was confused about this too. Actually, some of them do have 3 ports for parallel and a ground post. What they all don't have is 4 ports (the neutral port). And even then it's not all of them missing it. I ordered 2 of them a couple months ago. One came with a neutral parallel port (3 ports and a ground post), but the other was missing the neutral parallel port. They must have made a revision at some point, but maybe still have some older revisions in stock.
If you can’t find it right not that means it’s out of stock again. It doesn’t seem to last more than a week or so once they come in. But here try this… amzn.to/3FunFDx
Lol yea, I can’t believe the price of it. Makes me sad. If it’s bullet proof like the older eu3000is models then maybe but idk. $2600 is just crazy when even then you have no idea if it will last. I wanted one but I can’t justify that price on a small unit. I could buy the small3500 Genmax dual fuels remote start and more. About 3 at that price. And if each got 2500hrs that would take a really long time. At least for me anyway.
OK, Mr. Johnny, I have some questions. I just recently acquired a 50 amp RV and I’m looking at a generator specifically this one. I understand that it is 50 amp 240 V however do the RVs actually pull 50 amp per side of the 240 or do they only pull 50 A in total but split between the two legs. Because how is it wired when you have it in your house or at an RV park? Is it 50 amp for the total of two legs or is it split. Or is it’s actually 50 amp per leg.
Congrats on the new RV. Ok first…most RVs unless very expensive do not have any 240 volt appliances in them. It’s a 120 volt service trailer. But you need or can use a full 50 amps through the trailer if needed. This 50 amp service would allow you to use both ac units and run the microwave at the same time. Now it’s 25 amp per side or per leg. OK now the kicker. My trailer is a 50 amp trailer. But I can run both ac units or any thing in my trailer off a 30 amp service as long as I dont over load the circuit and use more than 30 amps. This is due to how many newer RV are wired now. Go look on your trailer connection and see if there is a sticker. You are looking for 208Y 240 This means the whole trailer can run off a 120 service or 240 service. 30 or 50 amp. So depending what you need you could get say a champion 4500 and run the both ac units but maybe not the microwave at the same time. So depending what you want you could buy a 7250 genmax or other 240v generator or get a 120v larger generator. Just depends what you need, how you camp and where you camp.
@@johnnysweekends ok I get it now. I think the 7250 is going to work for me. Do you know if gen max is going to come out with a new model for this year or are they going to stay pretty similar with their lineup?
Very exciting. Is it true that the Genmax have a lot of engine wear and thus metal ending up in the oil (like the Predator) meaning engine not lasting long, compared to others like the Westinghouse?
The Westinghouse has plenty of its own issues. And metal wear can mean many things. Especially if it’s from one video and only one generator . There are thousands of generators. Now if 3 of the same model showed the same wear then we would have some real data to go with. It’s like a $100k ford truck that does prematurely. Well I guess they are all junk. Don’t buy them. Many people have great luck with thousands of hours on predator 2000 watt units and now the Genmax line seems to be doing well overall. Everything takes time for feedback
You can buy a Pulsar 12KW (9500 running watts) for $1,000. This 7250KW (6,000 running watts) generator costs $1700. So not really a bargain. I've had my Pulsar 12KW for several years now. It ran most of my house (well, water heater, lights, etc.) when we had an 8 day utility power loss. It worked fine and is dual fuel as well.
But it not pure sine wave. It’s also not inverter gen so no eco mode throttle to save fuel. Twice as loud. No remote start, that’s really that big a deal. Not really Apple to apples type comparison. While yours has more power, I can also hears your from a long way verses this unit purrs and is quiet. Again not apples to apples on these two units
For sure!!! I realize these may have different features, but the bottom line is needed power when required, especially in a pinch. The Pulsar value wins for me in the 4-6 times a year I need to put it to good use.
Yeah, right he’s not comparing apples to apples. I just bought the 7500 from Sam’s Club $988 out the door. It’s the same as the 7250 but they only make it for Sam’s Club.
I have this exact same Genmax generator. I bought it because it does have the 50 amp hook up for my travel trailer. My question is I hook it up and can run both AC units of propane and it’s running at 100%. How long can I run it at 100%? Just curious in case we are Boondocking somewhere I need to run the both AC units all day long because it’s hot in Florida. Thanks.
@@johnnysweekends the generator shows on the LED read out that it is at 100% load with both ACs running on high. My question was how long can you run the generator at 100% of its load capacity on propane?
I don’t know. Depends how big the tanks are, how many tanks. How hot, what is the elevation. All of this adds a factor. And I’m not sure what you are running but it’s not good to run a generator at max capacity the whole time. Your normally wanna live in the 20-80% area and if you are always over 80% you should size up. You’ll burn less fuel and strain the gen less. This will be a good way to reduce its life span. What size are the AC units? How many each are they pulling
Your Genmax 7250ied link that you listed gives you the GENMAX 3500W generator. I have only found one outlet on line for the 7250W. Any idea when Amazon, etc will start selling them?
They have already been for sale. I just checked and sure enough they are sold out again I guess. When they are not listed it’s because they sold out. This model definitely doesn’t seem to last long in stock. Probably be about a week maybe two before they are available again. Be sure to use the discount code so you don’t pay full price..👍🏼
Is this one of the more powerful propane, inverter units now available? I'm looking to replace my gasoline 7000W backup generator with a propane one, and I'm contemplating something more efficient. Definitely want propane and inverter; not sure if I want a higher power (less efficient but more capacity to run more things in an emergency) or lower power (more efficient but more need to manage loads).
Yess… but read the fine print something changed on Amazon warranties I think on generators. I haven’t checked to see what did change if it was good or bad. Someone notified me of it ..👍🏼
@@johnnysweekends that’s the key. Many of us keep generators for emergency usage only. It’s just not practical to keep gas in them or to store enough for a few days run time. Propane makes that easy. For people who use a generator every day or every week, that’s not a factor.
Rob you’ll need the correct regulator For your set up. Large engines run on propane all the time if set up correctly. This did fine on my Rv with the on board regulator. Just has to be set up properly
thinking of picking this up to replace my 4500 watt champion. I like that it will run both AC units on the RV and microwave. Can you update the discount code? The one you have posted does not work. Also do you know if Genmax will be ugrading this gen in the near future?
@LuisGonzalez-hk6qf it is more in what you need. Do you need the extra power? Or not. The larger gen is more money, more weight and larger engine which will burn more fuel. So if you need the power it’s a nice option. If you dont the Champion 4500 is a great option.
Hello Johnny, I just subscribed! Looking for your advice on an invertor generator. I need the clean power of the invertor as well as 240 volts to run my well pump. I also want to run it on only propane. What is the best quality unit I can buy that delivers a clean sinewave, and 240 volts via propane? I am a little concerned since most of the brands engines are made in China and the customer service is sketchy at best. Thanks much....watched most of your videos. Nice work
Hey John thanks so much for the Sub..😀👍🏼 As far as a gen , man there are a world of options. Portable like this closed frame or big open frames or home stand by types that start at $1800 or so from Generac or champion that run on propane or NG. First I think budget…..cheaper always gets you a little less.. Second portable or permanent mount If you dont need pure sine wave the doors open like crazy. You only need that for some things. Just depends what you are doing. I Think once you narrow those down it will help get you a little closer. And unfortunately so many are made in china, Taiwan and Vietnam as well. Mostly china including some from champion and generac. Yamaha now and even Honda has started as well.
My power cord has the 30 amp end for 240v twist lock. Is there a simple adapter to get so I can use it or do I have to buy a whole new cord? Great video I love the amp size for my home back up not having to go higher to get the 240v.
That I don’t know. You can normally parallel different models and brands and sizes but I don’t know if you could use one generator or if you would need a actual parallel box which is what I would think.
I did, did you happen to miss both sound tests in the video..? I mainly do that concrete spot since I have done so many there. Gives me a good idea to compare all the others. Verses grass can give variables from length or even dampness will help absorb.
I have this model and the push button/remote start stopped working. The remote stop still works and it pull starts without any issue. Anyone know how to fix the push button start?
Thank you for the quick response. I'm looking at the manual, but I am unsure what you mean by parts warehouse. I checked the voltage on the battery and it's at 14v so there is plenty of juice.
I have Genmax 3200, first, it doesn't support 15K AC in my RV, AC can start up and run for couple of minutes only, and then overload and stop working. second: it is very big noise , not quite, I got couple of compliance in different campground neighbors (Honda and Champion both are quiter), it is better for boondooking area, like BLM. third, I have to disconnect CO detector, otherwise, it will shut down in a few mins after start
So curious as to why it wont run the the 15ac unit as that is only about 1350 watts depending on the unit. How old is the Ac unit..? When was it last cleaned..? Did you check to see the loads on the gen with the ac running? What was the watts being ran…? There is a lot more to it then it just doesn’t run the ac with out further investigation as to why. Hence checks need to be done. Did you try a different generator roughly the same size or smaller..?
@@johnnysweekends I bought it brand new last year for cross country camping with my brand new RV. I did all troubleshooting and cleaning, finally asked China factory for a solution. factory let me disconnect the CO sensor, it works fine, no more turn off automatically, but still can't afford 15K RV AC, factory avoided to answer this question, so I believed that Genmax 3200 can't support 15k AC. it is a cost-effect production if no need AC in camping. I didn't have any other inverter gen, but my camping neighbors have different gens(champion/prediator/honda etc), they all are more quiter than mine
Interesting that unit would not run the ac. It has more than enough power. Mine ran it no problem so not sure. Altitude at all..? The other gens are good units as well but I cant see the champion or predator really being any quieter unless they had bigger box units.
The 50amp reciptical on the gen max needs a extender because most 50amp male plugs are a 90 degree style and don't work because the cord hits the generator
I don’t have a issue with mine. The prongs on a 50 amp are long and my cord sits pretty much flush. Some different brands though could be different for sure.
Again!! Gezz this doesn’t last long when they get them in stock. Like a week and they are gone. Keep checking. Seems like every couple weeks they are back in.
Where in the world do you buy one? Amazon had a link that said you could place an order and they'd ship when it was available, but no idea of what date that might be. The next day, the Amazon link was gone. I'd sure like to buy one...
I don’t but I guess I could make one. But super easy. Just a T and a line with a balance and then a cap at the end in case the valve opens a little as a back up.
@@johnnysweekends I converted my Honda gen to propane. I have been carrying a extra 20lb tank to run it. That seams silly with 60lbs onboard the 5th wheel. But Im back and forth over a good idea to set that up
@@johnnysweekends the bbq QDs are 1/4. The propane connections on the gen have 1/2 QD. Little worried about reducing. There is probably a reason for the size. I have a propane manifold. So I might install that with the 1/2 QD, or I might put a "Y" shut off at one of my tanks. Not sure yet
I guess it will determine where you also want to have the gen and the line length. I ran my gen off the back which wasn’t a problem for load but was a 3500 type size gen. Or my small Honda. A 2200 Honda doesn’t need much. But maybe find out where you want the gen primarily then go from there. If you watch my propane pen video it shows my propane lines. I had to change it because who ever routed it was all messed up and the regulator and T line were leaking.
Im excited for this new generator! Cant wait to use it more. Does this look like something you would use for home or RV or both? Let me know 👍😀

Do you happen to have a decibel reading with the eco throttle off? I feel like mine is rattling and louder than it should be.
It can vary depending where you are. But it should be about 60-62 at idle and minimal load.
Ok, the most impressive thing is our man removing 140lbs from the box! Lift with the legs brother!
Yeaaa boyyyy!!! Lol.
And yes I did use my legs! You can see the squat but at the end I was like oh sh*#t 😂👍🏼
Maybe should have cut the box , or get to the gym more often 😂
Yea anything heavier I would have just cut the box. That’s about my limit.. lol
Oooh, fancy. 50amp plug, dual fuel, AND lithium ion starting battery? It's like they listened to RVers.
Lol right!!! And is a great option for home back up! Definitely
My 30 year old Honda has never missed a beat or been in the shop
Dammit, this happens every time I upgrade my home backup generator. I bought the Westinghouse WGEN 9500DF last year and then this came out. Sigh. And I promised my wife I wouldn't buy another generator or power bank this year.
That thing is crazy quiet! Like as quiet as the Sportsman 2200 I got a couple years ago. Nice to finally see a propane powered unit this quiet at this capacity finally. And with remote start!
Great review. Thanks!
I know right, it’s like my new phone. But next year the new one is coming with major changes…🤷♂️
@@johnnysweekends seriously. I am forbidden from making any more power related purchases till the Bluetti AC200Max is paid off. Only 16 more months of $100 payments left to go! Curse you, Klarna!

Waiting for our new power bank. Can parallel with generator
Nice but turn off eco mode if doing high loads and see if it does better.
@@johnnysweekends Got it! By the way, I used your Amazon referral link to purchase the generator.
@BMWguy206 wow thanks for the support..😀👊🏼
Keep us updated so we know if its a good unit or not 👍🏼
Thanks for the info and show! Need a 50 amp generator, this will be the first.
😀👍🏼
Thanks for the feedback! Always good to see any info for future information for me and other viewers 😀👍🏼
How is shutting off the has flow to the carb, and switching the line to propane going to burn off the fuel in the carb? That makes no sense. It's just going to burn propane and not the residual fuel in the carb.
Hi Johnny. Great video. Wondering if you can do a video on the the GenMax 7250
VS the
AiPower GSX7100iRD ?
GenMax is $1699
AiPower is $1299 or $999 on sale.
It has a 30amp
4 prong and a
50amp plug on the console front.
The THD on the GenMax is less than
5 THD Total harmonic distortion which is good for sensitive equipment.
I considered the GenMax ($1699)
but the price I paid in 12/2022 for the GXS7100iRD
was $999 on sale at Costco free delivery. Now it’s $1299 with free delivery, now that’s a lot lower than $1699 for GenMax, don’t you agree? Please compare side by side so your fans can decide which one they should purchase.
The AiPower has a
4 Year Residential Warranty !
Thanks for all your hard work.
Mike ienuso “Subscriber”.
I have considered this unit before and I have nothing bad to say about Aipower as they seem to have good units as well.
I will look into this 👍🏼😀
Thanks for the sub..👍🏼👊🏼
I definitely would need another. Will see soon.

@@johnnysweekends changed the oil at 1 hour and again at 8 hours. Both times metal so
Hoping next change it’s clear. Spark plug gap was a bit too much so adjusted that back to spec and it runs smoother. 30 hours now and I’ll change the oil soon.
Nice, do you have the magnetic dipstick?
@@johnnysweekends No.
@@johnnysweekends it does make sense, thank you.
For comparison,
a Westinghouse Quiet i2200/1700 is louder than a i4500/3700 running a 1200W charger,
but it gets almost 50% better fuel to KW ratio.
The Westinghouse is the same as the generac 2200 models as well and yes loud. I would buy many others over those. But they are using a Yamaha mz80 motor so they are a smaller cc so a little more fuel efficient till you get to about 60-70% rom range. Then a larger unit would be better.
I just got one of those tiny space heaters. Works nice in the bathroom after a shower 👍
I like them but some people really hate them 😂🤷♂️
Compare the owners manuals of the GM7500aIED and the GM7250IEDC and they are practically identical in performance, size, engine, tank size, etc.

How long will the generator run for with a propane tank like that, or a standard gas tank to refill + it's tank already fully

Yes this is true, and most of the engine is aluminum so it only pics up so much but anything is better then nothing. Frequent oils changes are key.
Nice👍 and quiet
can you use your 50 amp electrical cord to plug in play direct to the 50 amp generator or will I need a 50 amp generator cord?
You can use your RVs cord right into the generator to power up your Rv. 👍🏼
@@johnnysweekends Thank you so much for confirming that :)
Odd yea 12hrs is what it should be. Weird after 6.
I haven’t used this boondocking as I’ve moved to smaller and smaller units with solar and such.

Lol well we will just say he doesn’t know about these. If on 120v yes the gen will give full power on the 120v setting up to 6000 watts.
I just got the same watch dog and I see you can put 240 volts through it just reading instructions and said 120 volts I’m guessing it’s each leg let me know if there’s anything else I need to do before running 240 thank you in advance
Yes 120 through each leg
Can I run my 30 amp camper with this . Not buying it for my rv but can I use it in an emergency for it. Is there an adapter I need to get ?
Yes it will be good for home back up and can be used for the RV as well.
You can save some money as well as this is the same unit but cheaper 😀👍🏼

Thanks.
This is a splash engine so no oil filter 👍🏼
@@johnnysweekends ok thanks
I don't get the line one, line two thing. You just have one plug, how do you know which leg of power you are going to draw from?
One line has 120 volts and the other is dead when switched on 120v when switched to 240 volt both legs are hot providing 120 on two legs.
These plugs follow NEC so single power will be on the left side of the ground is at the bottom.
First and foremost - thanks for all these incredible video reviews you create - the time and effort you put into them is greatly appreciated. Kudos to you 👍
I am so torn between this one and the 6000 for home backup.
The pulsar is manufactured by Dinking power/genmax. The make several for pulsar but not all. Along with a couple others
Get two 50 lb generators instead if you camp. Doesn't matter as much for home back up.
I wondered the same.
Nothing beats Honda generators👍👍👍👍✊👊
They are great but the price is hard to justify now with so many people getting thousands of hours of these other units just like a Honda would. So now where is the advantage?
I know you can get parts and more, but if the Honda is triple the price..🤷♂️
@@johnnysweekends my 30 year old Honda has never missed a beat or been in the shop
Nice. Don’t dare buy a new one because the old ones are tanks. Last for ever. Unfortunately the newer ones are not like the old.
Nice video. Almost like a Genmax advertisement.
If connecting to a house interlock breaker box how do you change the ground on the generator?
I will have to look on this one when I get back. But the manual did mention it.
Sorry out of town
I have an old predator 3500 I forgot I could convert to propane power but I like this better.
How is it with both ac units running ??
Does fine draws about 2800 watts .. perfect for it.
Can you get this model in trifuel?
No unfortunately not. Need to move to a larger unit or an open frame unit.
It's amazing that it's 2023 and the access panels and oil fills to these $1,000 plus generators are still so rickety. They need to put some metal latches on these things.
Trying to keep it light. But yea wouldn’t mind it being a little beefed up
Can you plug in a 1.5 HP split inverter AC…since it is 240 V which can be used in Asian country during power outage…thanks
I don’t know. What’s the start up amp draw..?
You may need a soft start …
Is their such a thing as a big capacitor that can be hooked up to small generator and handle surges like microwave for 2-3 minute when small generator by itself would fail?
Yes soft starts can be added externally and internally to the item needed. Like a ac unit.
We have a 2000 watt and a 3000 watt generator, the 3000 watt one is a Honda inverter, and the 2000 one is a predator
I would’ve like to see the load with 1 or 2 A/Cs going
The units seem impressive. Where would go or do if you have a problem or need a part? This is one of the most important aspects to me.
Who is dog monkey
You right. That's why I have a Yamaha EF3000ISEB which is 25 pounds lighter and has emission compliance period of 500 hours versus 250 this thing. Quality is not cheap and cheap is not quality for a reason.
@anthonynicholich9654 but a Yamaha isnt as powerful, nor as affordable. id buy a honda or a Yamaha if they made one like this. they dont.
Wonder how this compares to pulsar 7250 ? Can’t find any tests on pulsar 7250 inverter generator
It’s the exact same unit just a little cheaper…🤫
And it’s on a small sale with a coupon
amzn.to/3vGtkEF
Very similar but not the same. The Pulsar has 30amp plug and the Genmax 50a
Generic question.
@@johnnysweekends Thank you. Good info to have.

Can 2 of the GM7250iEDC be paralleled together on the 240v setting to provide 12,000 running watts at 240v?
Yes..👍🏼
I’m confused as to why the parallel ports are only 2 plugs (not including the ground) should it not be 3 plus ground for 240v?
@@terrygreen8676 I was confused about this too. Actually, some of them do have 3 ports for parallel and a ground post. What they all don't have is 4 ports (the neutral port). And even then it's not all of them missing it. I ordered 2 of them a couple months ago. One came with a neutral parallel port (3 ports and a ground post), but the other was missing the neutral parallel port. They must have made a revision at some point, but maybe still have some older revisions in stock.
@terrygreen8676 no this gen already has the wiring inside for a 240 flip so if you want to double power output not voltage then you parallel.

@@johnnysweekends Yea or two Honda 2200i generators.
@@shanew7361 Or 4500 dual-fuel Champion for 1200? 50 amp-240 volt BIG!
You are looking for 208Y 240
This means the whole trailer can run off a 120 service or 240 service.

Will it run both A/C’s?
Yea easy. And a microwave
Agree but what you need…👍🏼
Yeah, right he’s not comparing apples to apples. I just bought the 7500 from Sam’s Club $988 out the door. It’s the same as the 7250 but they only make it for Sam’s Club.
I have this exact same Genmax generator. I bought it because it does have the 50 amp hook up for my travel trailer. My question is I hook it up and can run both AC units of propane and it’s running at 100%. How long can I run it at 100%? Just curious in case we are Boondocking somewhere I need to run the both AC units all day long because it’s hot in Florida. Thanks.
Are you saying your running both AC units at a 100% or the generator is a max load of 6000 watts ? Well propane is a little less.
How many decibels does it make?
It’s in the video..

@@johnnysweekends purchasing through Amazon, do you think it would be advised to purchase the extended 3yr or 4yr insurance?
Yess… but read the fine print something changed on Amazon warranties I think on generators. I haven’t checked to see what did change if it was good or bad. Someone notified me of it ..👍🏼
When generators get this big, propane isn't the best option unless you have large propane tanks - especially in cold weather.
Agree the larger tanks would be more beneficial but even a 20lb would still provide decent run times and easy to store propane no matter the size.
@@johnnysweekends that’s the key. Many of us keep generators for emergency usage only. It’s just not practical to keep gas in them or to store enough for a few days run time. Propane makes that easy. For people who use a generator every day or every week, that’s not a factor.
@@johnnysweekends It's the evaporation in cold, not the storage amount. A larger engine can't get it fast enough.
Agree. Plus less deadly on propane. And I like the smell better lol
I was planning on buying that championship 4500 watt duel fuel do u recommend this gen over the champion ?
Nice work
Hey John thanks so much for the Sub..😀👍🏼
As far as a gen , man there are a world of options. Portable like this closed frame or big open frames or home stand by types that start at $1800 or so from Generac or champion that run on propane or NG.
First I think budget…..cheaper always gets you a little less..
Second portable or permanent mount
If you dont need pure sine wave the doors open like crazy. You only need that for some things. Just depends what you are doing.
I Think once you narrow those down it will help get you a little closer. And unfortunately so many are made in china, Taiwan and Vietnam as well. Mostly china including some from champion and generac. Yamaha now and even Honda has started as well.

@@johnnysweekends wow perfect thank you.
Perfect size but needs NG to be even more useful
Why no L14-30 plug?
You need a adapter to which ever style you need. Like this one amzn.to/3WmOWOy
Can you parallel this with the A-IPower GXS7100iRD to get 11,700 watts at 240v, on the 50 amp outlet?
That I don’t know. You can normally parallel different models and brands and sizes but I don’t know if you could use one generator or if you would need a actual parallel box which is what I would think.
Wow that 240V switch could really use a cover. You'd hate to knock that with stuff plugged in.
Yea a cover wouldn’t be a bad idea. 👍🏼
Soooo perfect☺😁 but tooooo expensive 😬😔😒🤨
its pretty nice.
@@johnnysweekends I'm agreed but too expensive due to our country costs ☺😊
Why not do your sound tests on grassy areas like we'd have while camping.
I did, did you happen to miss both sound tests in the video..?
I mainly do that concrete spot since I have done so many there. Gives me a good idea to compare all the others.
Verses grass can give variables from length or even dampness will help absorb.
Has the purchising code expired?
No it should still be good. Unless they are out of stock…??
I have this model and the push button/remote start stopped working. The remote stop still works and it pull starts without any issue. Anyone know how to fix the push button start?
Looking manual for the parts warehouse
Thank you for the quick response. I'm looking at the manual, but I am unsure what you mean by parts warehouse. I checked the voltage on the battery and it's at 14v so there is plenty of juice.
And when I say it wont start, I mean when you push the button, nothing happens, the engine does not turn over.
@amajorleagueinfidel1 try this 866-960-2920
I'll give them a call. Thanks again.
Sounds very impressive 👍
I purchase the 9500 predator inverter and the genmax is alot cheaper and that is good as far as price and it does propane as well
I like the large genmax. Loaded with options as well.
Must be sold out on Amazon cant find it there anymore
Again!! Gezz this doesn’t last long when they get them in stock. Like a week and they are gone.
Keep checking. Seems like every couple weeks they are back in.
What sine wave does this produce? (Pure/modified).
Pure sine wave. Most all inverter gens are pure sine, I haven’t seen one that’s not.
Ditch the USB port for a 10 amp DC port!
Where in the world do you buy one? Amazon had a link that said you could place an order and they'd ship when it was available, but no idea of what date that might be. The next day, the Amazon link was gone. I'd sure like to buy one...
They are out of stock at the moment and waiting for more.
Probably another week or two..
I’m also trying to get a discount code
@@johnnysweekends Please let me know when you get a code!!
Still waiting I’ll put a post to when I get it..👍🏼😀
@@johnnysweekends I'm also interested in the discount code when you get it. Thank you!
I think I have it listed.. let me double check and I’ll grab it.
Do you have a video on your RV propane connection you used for the generator?
I don’t but I guess I could make one. But super easy. Just a T and a line with a balance and then a cap at the end in case the valve opens a little as a back up.
@@johnnysweekends I converted my Honda gen to propane. I have been carrying a extra 20lb tank to run it. That seams silly with 60lbs onboard the 5th wheel. But Im back and forth over a good idea to set that up
Use your bbq hook up as well. That’s what I did with my other unit. I had dual bbq lines out and that’s how I hooked up my generator..😀👍🏼
I just wish they would have made it to fit under a hard tonneau cover. Everything else is perfect for RV'ing.
Not many do. The newer trucks are a little deeper though.
