I'm going to say this about upgrading. Unless you have a lot money coming in and can afford to upgrade by all means upgrade as long as it's not in the way of your responsibilities. But for the everyday common man; if you're satisfied with what you have and have mastered your workflow like the old folks say if it ain't broke don't fix it. Ijs I hope this solves your question
Just came across this video and wanted to pose the question again since it's been a few years. Are you still using the Studio? Did it work out like you thought just using the MK3 when on the go? Are you leaning more towards one over the other?
Honestly after looking at both, I'm just gonna cop a studio and call it a day. Traveling and making beats ain't my thing. If I'm making it in the studio, my studio is the space to be in. Plus the studio has more midi outs so I can hook more gear up to it since I'm hitting into live looping. Mk3 looks new and dope. But aside from a few features that my jam already covers, there's not much if a difference between the two so I'll be looking for a jam to cop.
Nice post DDS. Appreciate you taking the time to show us this side by side comparison with your thoughts. Keep doing what you do bro and ignore the thumbs down and trolls that come by for attention.

Thanks for all the great Mk.3 videos forreal. I have the jam right now and I got one question I hope you could answer or test. On that new Mk.3, the mixer interface can interact with logic and manipulate the levels within the Daw and not just Maschine. Does this also work with the Jams touch strips? Like if I plugged both into my computer would the Jam manipulate the Maschine or Logic software levels? Sorry if this is confusing haha I can't find any answer anywhere and this would be a big part of getting the Mk. 3 for me. Thanks man!
I will have to test that out to see if I can mix in Logic using it. If you plug in both, I think you can set it to control logic or maschine depending on the preferences. I'll have to test it out!
Calm that DOWN Only if you don't have the MK2 Keys. And even then, it's iffy. The MK3 is more convenient, but you can pretty much do exactly the same things with the 2.5 update on your studio, have a stand, and dedicated buttons.

I can't replace my flagship studio lol.im waiting on the mk2 studio I jus Kno that bad boy gone have some form of a touch screen! Anyway I agree with u the mk3 is great for traveling but no if u already got a studio don't down grade because the studio is what it is which is a beast! It's not called a flagship for nothing lol
T- Electrik yeah but when the new Studio comes out are you keeping your old Studio? So what’s going to happen to the resell value of the current studio once the new drops and more folks have a MK3? So selling the studio now, getting an MK3 locks in a better resale value for you once the Studio MK2 drops. Food for thought (are you holding on to bleeding money?) I try to stay ahead so my purchases work for me to get what I want in the end
Marc Lemar once the new studio mk2 drops u better believe I'm selling my studio mk1 lol that money gonna go toward the new studio. I gotta have the latest greatest I think when NI drop the studio mk2 I believe 3.0 software update coming with it and it better be a game changer !!!!!! Come NI make it a full daw!
depends on what you use it for. but yeah for the most part i think you right. knowing production as sixx said has nothing to do with it. they are both great tools
Wow Old Boy got it all lol I got MK2 & Micro MK2 I just wish they would've put the Aux cord jacks in The MK 1 & 2 so you could sample your keyboards easier..I don't think they really needed to add the Head phone Jack unless it was a stand alone..
DDS825 yeah but all you have to do is plug into your computer lol so it wasn't necessary because you already had a headphone connection..I bet the MK4 will be both a Controller & a Standalone
But why do you have so many different Maschine hardware. Two should be enough surely. Personally I think that the big one is the best but the mk3 looks really close.
DDS825 I wish I had one. I really need something for my Komplete 11 plugins so that I can work on the fly, I have an akai but those NI maschines are the real deal. Is the maschine studio better than the maschine mk3. Does the machine mk3 have a power supply and a microphone preamp. If it had a mic preamp, is preamp any good? I want to buy one of these, which one is the money worth if you had to pick one?
So it seems like space portability and convenience is better if you lack a power supply.. but it doesn't seem like functionality is better.. to me it seems like the only reason to upgrade is if you travel or if you lack space. It's not a life or death upgrade it's more like a iPhone upgrade LOL. Thank you for the the video brother
Doesn't matter what you get there will always be another upgrade that's better than the last. MK3 with audio, that alone says it's overall better than Studio. But then there will be a Studio upgrade :) Then MK4 hahaha and so on. Great video! But I'm mad with you DDS825 , cause now I'm seriously trying to not go buy this like yesterday! hahaha Great vid! I subscribed!
Good review bro. Personally, I think the MK3 is a good buy if you are just getting in the game or already have a maschine that needs upgrading like the mikro. However, if you already have a maschine studio its a tough call. I will concede and say that its dope that the mk3 is completely usb powered and wish my studio was. Nevertheless, I like the edit buttons on the studio and the bigger size lol. Ultimately, DDS is still going to make bangers whether he uses the mk3, studio, or that god awful mikro lol. Why?Because gear is all personal preference. Hell, Pharrell still uses an old m-audio axiom pro 61 and I can't for the life of me understand why lol. Like it was a decent midi controller when it came out but it had a lot of issues... but i digress lol.
What will be the reason to replace it when the main purpose is to make a song. The smaller Maschine would be better to use if you are using it in the field. Just like one of you followers if it is not broke don’t switch it!!!
It's all about preference. I haven't used the Maschine Studio since I got the MK3. The smaller size and no need for external power besides usb already make it better for me. The new pads are another plus.
once you have a beast like the machine studio why do u need anything i think people be doin to much take the time learn what you already have and be good with what you have its never about the maschine its the person behind it that makes the magic happen
I really won’t switch from the Maschine studio, because other than the larger pads and the strip, why would I shell out another $700 dollars for something that has the same software running it? This reminds me of Apple, trying to get you to switch your iPhone for virtually the same thing? This thing isn’t going to have me make better beats, I would be better off buying something totally different such as the mpc one for the same price. Oh yeah, the MPC One is stand alone.
Tempted, but not taking the bait. I'm 99% certain, the "studio" will get a major overhaul. (Which I own) Why? Pure speculation but; There would be no point in calling this new one, the MK3 if they weren't. It would simply be the new studio. (IMO) 2nd, they've gone silent on the "studio", and there are no videos that I could find, showing it used in conjunction with the MK2 Kontrol, despite it's significantly higher price. (suspicious) Marketing I know, but nothing? It's still the flagship, and still $200.00 more on every music retailers site I've seen. 3rd, the MK3 does not pose a significant threat to either the MPC Live or X. They will certainly have to respond to the MPCX, which although significantly more, is an absolute BEAST! I did however, get the mk2 keyboard, which if you have that and the studio, certainly don't "need" the mk3.
Yes if you have the studio the studio you don’t need the MK3 but it was more about portability for me and the new buttons and display. But I wouldn’t be surprised either lol
you might be right Elvin but the reason its called an MK3 is because of its size and features, its an upgrade of the mk2. im not about telling people what they 'need' and dont need. some things sure....like a mikro mk1 vs a Studio. the studio is clearly superior. but the studio vs mk3...they are both great
@@DDS825 I had a mk2 but sold it when I got push2 but always missed the maschine workflow. Got a mk3 mikro but missed the mk2 standard layout. Found a mk3 studio used for cheap and realized how much better it was than the mk2 standard. Now I'm new to m+ and really appreciate videos like this one as I continue my journey. Thank you.
MK3 is NICE... But it won't be able to touch the new Studio! My guess is the new Studio will be a stand-alone unit to compete with the new Akai stand alone. I'm just going to wait... why buy a Corvette when you can have a Lambo?? :-D
You never know. and because you might want to go somewhere that you don't want to drive a lambo to, so you'll just take the vette to get the job done. lol
Black Thor I’m selling mine for $400 on eBay as soon as my MK3 comes in... that will include a license transfer of Maschine 2 and Komplete select. Let me know if you’re interested... no scam no lie... all legit

DDS825 I called them. I'm going to exchange it for another one
Trying to compose and mix the song with maschine 2 software seems so ridiculous I don't understand it at all...
I just play live on ideas view but it's driving me nuts gotta mix on logic
Check out my arrangement video, it’ll help with that l press the mix button to start mixing
I Just got my Maschine Studio and Jam a few months ago. I Fell in love off the rip.I want to grab the MK3 but I have a feeling NI is about to drop a new Maschine Studio real soon. I want the MK3 but I refuse to fall for the Banana In The Tailpipe and I have to drop another 1k on a Studio months after I Grab a Mk3.
The Studio and the Jam are a great combination. That's what I've been using for a while!
DDS825 Yeah im kind of mad that I overlooked it so long.I spent alot of money buying alot pf equipment with a bunch of hype buit around it and was disappointed.Im definitely Team Native Instruments all the way right now.I enjoy what you do too good bro.Keep the energy going homie.
+Travis Henderson I appreciate that!
i guess this never came true lol
Yeah thats what I was thinking, just wanna know if it also applies to the Jam. Thank you man! Your real for actually reading comments lol
I first got the Mikro last November then I got a used MK1 in April. I probably should've waited lol. MK3 looks pretty dope.
Man it is Dope!
Damn Brah when U got that Mk3?Will purchase one next month.
Got it 2 Days ago.
I just got the Machine studio! should I trade it in for the MK3? please help
+Calm that DOWN I️ would lol
Yes.
Only if you need to it without computer and if you like the smart strip
No
Calm that DOWN Only if you don't have the MK2 Keys. And even then, it's iffy.
The MK3 is more convenient, but you can pretty much do exactly the same things with the 2.5 update on your studio, have a stand, and dedicated buttons.
Smaller but looks like the features have improved and more mobile the interface puts the icing on the cake , enjoy !
Yea that's exactly how I look at it. It's a mobile Maschine Studio! Which is great! lol
DDS825 i have the original and love it , my laptop is down right now but I think I might have to get this , I've always like the work flow on maschine
+corey smiley the workflow changed my life lol
Mk3 does have that audio interface however if you already have an interface it’s not necessary
Dope. Good job with these videos bro. Hopefully they release a studio mk2 soon I'll def cop that
Thanks man! Me too lol

BTW DOWG, MK stands for MARK, so you say mark 1, mark 2, mark3 mini etc
Lol why you have to shade the Mikro thoooooo
+Giana Major no shade 😂 just answering questions 😂
I lol'd when he asked if it was worth it to upgrade to mikro to the mk3 and said "..look at that... to me, the answer is already there!"
The MPC X is huge, but IDC that's my mobile unit......The maschine studio is my home device for the moment. I want the MK3 to play around with it, but I already have enough or the moment.
+Platinum Era Visions the MK3 is replacing my studio lol
Man, its so tempting. I may fall back from the X and get a mpc touch just so I can get the mk3 lol
Can you really make an accurate and true comparison after one day?
Yes. Just comparing the two products based off of functions of the hardware doesn't take too long to do .
@@DDS825 I can dig that. Thanks for sharing the info. I just bought the Korg M3 and am trying to decide whether to get the MK3 or an MPC. Any input on that??
Thanks again.
Video starts at 1:10
24 hours seems a bit short to me to form a complete opinion on a piece of gear. maybe a new video in a couple of days?
I actually did a video a few days after this one explaining everything.
excellent, heading over there now
I can't replace my flagship studio lol.im waiting on the mk2 studio I jus Kno that bad boy gone have some form of a touch screen!
Yea the studio is still a BEAST! But I am loving the MK3 lol
Studio resell value has dropped tremendously since the mk3 came out.
It dropped a while back. True indeed. I only got 500 for mine @ GC.
what if u just bought a studio should u return for mk3 ?
+Cr Wangchope you could. I think this is a matter of preference. I’m enjoying the MK3 as my main Maschine.
Makes more sense to buy mk3 it's the most up to date hardware studio will be outdated soon
I agree. The MK3 is just better in my opinion.
If they know production the MK3 is a studio
depends on what you use it for. but yeah for the most part i think you right. knowing production as sixx said has nothing to do with it. they are both great tools
Wow Old Boy got it all lol I got MK2 & Micro MK2 I just wish they would've put the Aux cord jacks in The MK 1 & 2 so you could sample your keyboards easier..I don't think they really needed to add the Head phone Jack unless it was a stand alone..
The headphone jack comes in handy.
DDS825 yeah but all you have to do is plug into your computer lol so it wasn't necessary because you already had a headphone connection..I bet the MK4 will be both a Controller & a Standalone
Don't let this dope video distract you from the fact that I'm selling my Maschine Studio to the first serious buyer (:
Lol
Bro how much
it is still available? how much
But why do you have so many different Maschine hardware. Two should be enough surely.
Personally I think that the big one is the best but the mk3 looks really close.
It’s an upgrade. I have about 5 Maschines. Lol I prefer the MK3 over the Studio but both are still great.
DDS825
I wish I had one.
Robert Oti Save your money and go get one. Stop wishing, start praying. Get a second job if you have to. I
So it seems like space portability and convenience is better if you lack a power supply.. but it doesn't seem like functionality is better.. to me it seems like the only reason to upgrade is if you travel or if you lack space. It's not a life or death upgrade it's more like a iPhone upgrade LOL. Thank you for the the video brother
No problem! Good analogy! But I will say I do have more fun using the MK3 than the studio currently. lol
+RP47 true! thanks for subscribing man!
Thanks for mentioning audio
Lmao I can never diss the Mikro! That's what I made hits like "Try Me" on lol But it's all about preference like you said. Thanks for watching!
Jay Almighty I agree with you
Jay Almighty thanks for easing my worries
Haha, anytime.
I have a studio.
Dope!
It connects through USB cable. Not midi. Midi cable looks totally different.
once you have a beast like the machine studio why do u need anything i think people be doin to much take the time learn what you already have and be good with what you have its never about the maschine its the person behind it that makes the magic happen
Just different work flows. The Maschine MK3 has a built in audio interface. Which the studio does not. So it’s just differences like that.
I feel ya M W
I really won’t switch from the Maschine studio, because other than the larger pads and the strip, why would I shell out another $700 dollars for something that has the same software running it? This reminds me of Apple, trying to get you to switch your iPhone for virtually the same thing?
This thing isn’t going to have me make better beats, I would be better off buying something totally different such as the mpc one for the same price.
Oh yeah, the MPC One is stand alone.
I love trap same have been borned in Brazil
Mk3 all day .....
100%
But I wouldn’t be surprised either lol
you might be right Elvin but the reason its called an MK3 is because of its size and features, its an upgrade of the mk2. im not about telling people what they 'need' and dont need. some things sure....like a mikro mk1 vs a Studio. the studio is clearly superior. but the studio vs mk3...they are both great
🔥
Thank you!
If you're a sampler that wheel is clutch.
Lol all my damn questions lead to a video😂😂 Thanks bro!!
It did. But I got this question so many times! lol
nice tutorial . next time dont mix ur explanations and music together ... it makes people skip the video :)
You got another sub off of this one.
Thank you!
Thank you.
USB not MIDI
I didn't come here to know what u feel is the big difference.
But you did. 😁
I need to see these in person. Your channel is all on video 😕
Go to your local music store and see if they have any available for you to compare.
So basically you didn't answer the question. It's ok to take a position without having to hedge your bets by being ambivalent or non-committal.
MK3 is NICE... But it won't be able to touch the new Studio! My guess is the new Studio will be a stand-alone unit to compete with the new Akai stand alone. I'm just going to wait... why buy a Corvette when you can have a Lambo?? :-D
You never know. and because you might want to go somewhere that you don't want to drive a lambo to, so you'll just take the vette to get the job done. lol
Its not coming another Studio, maybe a Mk4 but a New studio? i see it more hard
Bruh learn your hardware. Its cool you are invested but gotta know what these parts are.lol
I know the hardware, nothing’s wrong with wanting to upgrade. Also Native Instruments sent this to me, am I supposed to not use it? Lol
DDS825 no harm meant bro. Was saying the chords and things. No disrespect keep up the good work!
mpc X!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sell me the Maschine studio fam!
Black Thor I’m selling mine for $400 on eBay as soon as my MK3 comes in... that will include a license transfer of Maschine 2 and Komplete select. Let me know if you’re interested... no scam no lie... all legit
Mine will still be used, If I don't use it It'll go in the hall of fame. lol
Marc Lemar U have a fb page or IG?
Mine is for sale right now
zlistcelebrity How much?
👍👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👌👏👏👏👏👏👋👋👋👋👋
iwanted to like this but the beat in the background was unbearable fam sry
Is that it bruh? We're looking for technical comparisons not your feelings...
Thanks for watching
Bruh how you spend 6 minutes to say 2 minutes worth of shit. Watchin this was like pulling teeth. Otherwise, thanks for the informative vid.
...you need more than just midi to power a MK3
For me, the machine studio is better
I haven’t used mine in a long time lol
DDS825 lol
so much talking, so little information
+Simon Rouge it was me sharing my opinion. Lol
Terrible review man!
