Great info. All mine were made in G.B. I must get out to the range after watching this video.

I have a 1942 Longbranch No.4 Mk.I 'star', but mine is different from the Savage in it still has long range sights.

Have they been retrofitted though? Most British owned examples had them retrofitted at FTR in the 1950's.

Interesting Video Sir, but there few things i am puzzled / cant agree with you... The Savage made Enfield's mostly in my Experience have 2 grooved barrels... as you mentioned to speed up production during the War... the 2 grooved barrels are good in accuracy BUT not all of them! Despite the fact that at ranges greater than 300 yards the are less accurate than 5 groove... Riflechair in Canada on his YT channel has knowledge on that. 2 grove means less stability and more vibrations because the bullet got more squeezed than in 5 grove barrels... BUT as i mentioned this it almost to 100% depends on the wear of the barrel and the general bedding in the wood!! Also there are a ton of Savage Enfield's where the bore is shoot out ... Sad but true... also the Steel on the Savage barrels are often not exactly that good quality as on comparable Longbanch or UK made no4's. South Africa got a lot of Savage and some Longbranch Enfield's mostly No4 mk1's or mk1* until 1949 the got freshly produced No4 mk2's from UK ^^ around 20.000 or more... Grooved Handgurads are also very common on Savage and Longbranch No4's. I recommend fixing the issues on the rifles and maybe for testing accuracy try maybe the S&B 180gr FMJ ammo in your Deer Rifle maybe it gets better... PPu ammo don't works good on every enfield.. My sporter Enfield can do 1" groups with the S&B ammo and the only thing i added on the Rifle was a Scope and smith-less Scope mount(Addley precision in Canada). Did you checked the Muzzle Wear on your rifles? always a good indicator :-D Good Video Sir but room for improvements ^^ Please don't take my comment as Trolling or harsh hate... more like constructive critic i would appreciate that and have a nice Day.

I’ve seen quite a few 2 groove two peep rifles here in Minnesota, US. They are beat to hell usually with very pitted barrels. I’ll keep looking!

Excellent video, very good. Bit disappointed with the performance of the scoped rifle, room for improvement with the bedding perhaps ? I am looking at a no.4 mk2 made in fazerkerly in the mid fifties, i might have to buy it now.

Hi Ro Eng, Glad you enjoyed it. I think the room for improvement is probably in me! :) I may take these back to the range for another video and shoot them rested off a bench to show the inherent accuracy of the rifles as opposed to practical accuracy shot off the elbows on this type of target. The post war Mk.2 you describe was probably the pinnacle of production. Is it in standard spec' or sporterised? If you are looking to put a scope on one I'd recommend rebuilding one that has already been sporterised rather than losing the originalty of a Service Specification one.

Yes a standard spec, mk 2, one of a small batch that surfaced in Germany recently. I would like a wartime one, more history and all that, but the later enfields are as close as to a brand new old rifle, its possible to get.

Yes you can contact The Yeaveley Estate. The range is much changed since this was filmed. Sudbury & District Rifle Club also shoot there. The Gunrrom is in Wirksworth, near the Heritage EVR Railway Station.

Lots of 2 groove Lee Enfields in Canada. 6 grooves are RH twist and we don't see very many of these.
