It would have been cool to see how humanity would react to Grace's return to earth. But I really like Grace going to live out his days with his alien best friend.

Yea but "What is your name" implies that he doesn't have his memories when "What is 2 + 2" could accidentally imply he's just stupid, also the computer repeats "what is your name" more times than it asks "what is 2 + 2" so it probably stuck with people who only read it once more.

Whoever make a movie from this book has to do two movies. First one on earth with starting of Hail Mary at the end and the second in space. You have to get rid of this amnesia thing, but I think that will work anyway. It´s the only way to tell this great story without skipping too much. You also can skip those parts, where he is finding out being on a space ship and what his purpose is. That is something that was great to read but don´t work in a movie. So they have more time to focus on his relationship with Rocky.

Nah nah nah, this needs the seriousness in the beginning. The first part of the book is about a lone astronaut coming to terms with the suicide mission he’s on. All of the friendship and comedy he experiences with rocky wouldn’t be as impactful without this contrast :p

Well it's pretty obvious that this book will be made into a movie. Probably they haven't just announced it yet. I mean they are going to do a movie from Rendezvous with Rama and that book is approx 20% less good than PHM. Not fair to word it like that since without Rama I doubt there would be this but yeah Don't Panic it'll be a movie that you can go spend your hard earned money to get disappointed at since it can't be better than the book.
