“In a fist fight with the fog” I mean come on, this is one of the most lyrically perfect songs ever written. And it couldn’t be performed any better. “ When I only want for you to pull o~ver and ho~ld me, til I can’t remember my own name” I’m a basket case at this point.
Maybe I'm not in on a joke, but I find it devastatingly difficult to believe that Chris Thile, a West Coast folk musician, hadn't heard of Joanna "next lyricist in line for Literature Nobel Prize" Newsom
I must have watched the other video of this song a hundred times at this point and didn't think it could be improved upon. Needless to say, I was wrong. Astonishingly good.
I live near Sydney Australia and watch Live From Here every week. It is just about as close to perfect as things get. Needless to say I am a big fan. Keep on picking....
Aoife, I’ve known you for years, I’ve seen you in countless shows, I’ve even bumped into you (literally, and we spoke a bit) at the Bowery Ballroom a few years ago, and I own all of you’re music. You could say I’m a fan. Amazingly, you just keep getting better and better and you’ve always been at least great. The proof is in this performance! Gorgeous, haunting, and at the end, tear inducing. ❤️
Someones good luck charm,a lot of musicians have something like this they take onstage with them,it might be one of there children's toy's.only they know why it's there.
no one can write a song like Joanna Newsom
I can see how much she loves the song. I make a lot of the same faces when I sing it.
Smiling ♡
i was lucky enough to be there and collapse on the grass when Aoife named the song. i miss this show!
UNREAL! They did such justice to Joanna's masterpiece!!
One of my favorite songs maybe ever

Alan_ S. Joanna Newsom's otherworldly
Me too, same point
"And in our quiet hour I feel I see everything
And am in love with the hook upon which everyone hangs"
This is the best rendition I've seen. Other than Joannas ruclips.net/video/-Nb3117f8M4/видео.html
Beautiful song, beautifully sung.
Goodness, that was so special.
Wow! This is sublime. As good as joanna's, in its on way. She must be proud

He is familiar with her. They covered an excerpt of "Only Skin" in the musicians' birthday segment of the 1/21/2017 show.
He may know her but not know the song
@@KilianSchindlersorry for commenting on such an old thread, do you perhaps have a link to that? I'd love to hear it

This song is amazing and I honestly never thought anyone but Joanna could do it but... well you proved me wrong.
The voice that overcomes me again and again. Thank you Aoife.
Absolutely beautiful. More of an encounter than a song ...
Aoife's singing is just wonderful and she nailed this song!! Can't wait for IWH in Portsmouth.
Love this song. Great rendition.

I keep coming back here
The first time I heard this, I stopped trying to write songs.
That's how I felt when I heard the song "Divers" for the first time. :'D
this was possibly my favorite part Saturday night.

So nice impression
I really love this song.
this is such a lovely take, thank you! just gorgeous voice!
Galing ni ate
Singing a line to someone side stage, very sweet. He is a very lucky man.
This is a song about the slow death of a one-sided relationship....
❤🎯
As good as it gets.
have Joanna Newsom herself been on a show already?
or maybe we need just a whole album Punch Brothers/Joanna Newsom ? ;)
i hate that it doesn't have the instrumental part at the end
My brother has a paving company told him to change the name
I am at home on that range
But what's the deal with that kitten on stage?

Had to go back and find it didn't I. Beautiful version of an astonishing song
