For those who are asking......This is the group Childsplay, with Aiofe, The cellist is Ari Friedman, Keith Murphy is the guitarist and Elsie Gawler is the other back up vocaist. Mark Simos(who teaches songwriting at Berklee) created this amazing song and arrangement for Childsplay. Meltingly beautiful....
I had my "lay my burden down" moment back in 2012. Didn't know this song at the time but boy does it capture the feeling. I sure hope it can help those who still carry theirs.
Aoife has the most beautiful angelic voice I’ve ever heard. Thanks to RUclips algorithm for bringing me here. I’ve been watching Aoife’s videos for a while and just now found this. Can’t believe there are not more views.
This song has well written lyrics, penned in 1998 by Mark Simos, a songwriter praised highly by Alison Krauss of Bluegrass fame. It's a nice song and it's current 128 views and lack of "likes" does discredit to the quality that is here. It's not an earth-shattering, loud or fast number, just a pleasant, harmonious and balanced song. I don't always want to hear songs where people are screaming and being dramatic. Childsplay do a nice job. Thanks for posting.
it brings me to tears. Aoife's voice is , as always, inspiring and magical. but I particularly love the quality of the violin. the lack of likes for something hi quality and well-done will never surprise me, as much as it is still disappointing. it is lovely
She and her sometimes singing mates, Sara Watkins and Sarah Jarosz, comprise an entire new wave of "americana", "folk" or whatever and I'm just loving it. Grew up on Simon and Garfunkle and all the singer songwriters so this is just like new blood in my veins. They are scary talented!
@jose Garcia , I will do my part to spread the word about this amazing piece of music. Aoife has the most beautiful voice. This music fills my soul. Such talented musicians.
Each time I am listening I am impressed by the tightness of the string ensemble. I am not missing any drums of other rhythmic instrument, and togehter with the vocals, just great
I will lay this burden down That I have carried for so long My own hand placed this mark upon my brow Don’t need to wear it now I will water this thirsty heart With tears of healing rain I’ll learn to lay this burden down And never shoulder it again Never again I walk a tightrope Stretched between my hope and darkest fear And though I look to find Too often I’ve been blind When love drew near I try to hold life lightly Yet I step with a heavy tread On this road I thought I’d chosen Down which I was led (Chorus) I seek a wisdom Some day I’ll learn from the trees that grace this land From the wind that sighs From the scattered leaves that fly I’ll understand How they give themselves so gently To the breeze that guides them on To the hollows where they crumble Back to earth and are gone (Chorus) I dream of doorways Awake as new light plays Across your sleeping face As we lie here warm Something distant yet enormous Longs to be Outside our window Branches bow their heads with snow From last night’s storm Like they’re saying grace … good read diba, biancs? nyahahaha
I loved the arrangement and her voice is beautiful She was drowned out a few times by the background music and l didn't catch the words But l definitely gave it a thumbs up.!

I fully agree, this is good music and very pleasant to listen to.
Yeah, my first thought hearing this was Allison Krause would love it.
I recently found this treasure and like a good book I never want my knew discovery to end.☮️

Well put. Dylan LeBlanc is another singer/songwriter I've been getting into lately, as well as First Aid Kit.
Indeed... Thank God for that

This is excellent.
you have captured my heart.
outstandingly beautiful
It just doesn't get any sweeter......
I will lay this burden down
That I have carried for so long
My own hand placed this mark upon my brow
Don’t need to wear it now
I will water this thirsty heart
With tears of healing rain
I’ll learn to lay this burden down
And never shoulder it again
Never again
I walk a tightrope
Stretched between my hope and darkest fear
And though I look to find
Too often I’ve been blind
When love drew near
I try to hold life lightly
Yet I step with a heavy tread
On this road I thought I’d chosen
Down which I was led
(Chorus)
I seek a wisdom
Some day I’ll learn from the trees that grace this land
From the wind that sighs
From the scattered leaves that fly I’ll understand
How they give themselves so gently
To the breeze that guides them on
To the hollows where they crumble
Back to earth and are gone (Chorus)
I dream of doorways
Awake as new light plays
Across your sleeping face
As we lie here warm
Something distant yet enormous
Longs to be
Outside our window
Branches bow their heads with snow
From last night’s storm
Like they’re saying grace …
good read diba, biancs? nyahahaha

very good.
How could you not like this....duhhh lol
I loved the arrangement and her voice is beautiful
She was drowned out a few times by the background music and l didn't catch the words
But l definitely gave it a thumbs up.!
George Jones and Waylon Jennings once sang "It just don't get any better than this"
I found the lyrics thanks to my sweet man!!
When I think of Aoife’s voice, I think of purity. Corny sounding, I know, but I love it.
Do you happen to know what program this was on? The arrangement is absolutely beautiful.
Thank you for your beautiful music. Is there any way to obtain the lyrics?
who is playing the cello she is terrific
Has anyone found the lyrincs for this??
Right on Shannon,I am having a hell of a time trying to track down the lyrics
Her voice is beautiful, but I have quite a bit of trouble understanding the lyrics. Can anyone share them?
The timbre of the male guitarist's voice is not a good match with Aoife's voice.
Considering that this is live, it is just perfect
Well, rap or real music??? I will take real music thank you.......
