    Phoenix pop up campers are better builds and offer better solutions like recessed wood doors and draws, etc.they will make WHATEVER you like:) although, these are very close in design and build too! I really liked the lowest model with the fold over bed mechanism..........would request that in the phoenix op up:)

      @@sad754yt both have their pros and cons. Slide in truck campers are more maneuverable on sketchy off road mountain trails vs a trailer...but trailers usually are bigger and more livable when they are at camp especially if you have 3 kids like me.

    Amazing, low profile, go most anywhere, no rock crawling for me though...Have only one issue with the small door...in/out bending over all the time...I have a Palamino with the full door, incorporated into the pop up with a fold over design....regardless, a great way to be out there. Just makes you want to get out there, seeing all that great product..Great video.

    • @TheDudeGonzalez
      @TheDudeGonzalez 5 лет назад +1

      Four Wheel camper I think is more dust proof or?

    • @mixflip
      @mixflip  5 лет назад +2

      Better is subjective. It boils down to what you need or want. Also what your style of camping is. Alaskan campers were invented out of the need to shelter workers building the Alaskan highway in the 1950s.
      If you need fast and light....four wheel campers might be a better fit.
      If you need a cold weather camper in windy areas alaskan campers might be a better fit.

      @@mixflip you're right for what the Alskan campers where/are build for. But now a days people use campers all 4 seasons and travel with them all over the world. I follow a couple of those people and one thing I noticed is that all(including the ones using a roof top tent) they always have problems of having a good sleep when there is wind.
      Strong wind you will find everywhere correct?
      Plus if the insulation is good for cold weather then even better for hot weather or?
      I love both designs. Alaskan is a bit old skool with the leather mattress hehehe sure you can ask for other fabric.
      The only thing what I dont understand and haven't seen is how that seal works at Alaskan campers when it's down. Water sure no problem but dust how does it work?

      First off Slide in Truck campers... Hard sided or Hybrid primarily is a niche market and on average cost twice as much per square foot then other campers excluding the top of the line luxury drivers in the 6 figure & up bracket ... Ive had and camped over 50 yrears from cars vans,pick-up with truck cap, just sleeping under the stars cowboy style,..canvas tents & tarps to modern tents ,popup trailors ,tow behind trailors,motorhome and now have slide in truck camper. Depending on YOUR paticular needs and requirements. WHY would I who camp Solo & No pets want to drag a trailor that has to have its own license plates, tires, lights and mechanical issues when I can have the ease and versatility of a lightweight low profile truck camper? Im NOT gonna glamour camp in a fancy RV Park around masses of people plugging into shore power connected to the Internet blah blah blah. Im going camping places where it requires going offroad on rough terrain at times very muddy and a typical trailor camper isn't made for that abuse. Furthermore my personal hybrid truck camper has better view and more windows for fresh air than what i seen on this video...On the upper softsided pop-up part I have 2 huge unzippable screened windows per side.. In the front a unzippable screened window in the rear a FULL Size door and screen window...not to mention on the bottom hard side part of camper the glass windows on each slide open and are screened and the small screened window under the cabover sleeper slides open.. NO other camper Offers that view or ventilation except a pop up trailor .. But unlike a pop-up trailor i can access my camper when its down & use the couch/converted to bed and still have windows for fresh air and access to fridge and other things and enough room for potty action...In down position its great in between destinations for impromptu stealth camping on a residential side street or like at a Wal-Mart that dont have Rv overnight camping. My rig fits in normal parking spot. When the camper is down and clearly latched in closed position I never have had trouble with parking lot security asking me to move. Every camper rig has advantages and disadvantages.Before i got my slide in truck camper i was undecided on hardside or Hybrid. My main desire was having a great view in every direction when i was inside camper...as well as not being to top heavy.....unfortunately mostly none of the modern hardsides offer much in windows and just Put in A.C. Unit and assume your glamor camping in a RV PARK...and the older ones i happened to find was in bad shape..the few i did find in good but not even great shape was labeled as "Vintage" and they wanted 6-10 K for.

      As O'Brien says it's niche market (that's growing). Simply, you can go to WAAAY more locations with a FWC than you ever could with a trailer and still have creature comforts. Several models, like the Hawk, you can have an indoor and outdoor shower, and cassette toilet. All of the models allow solar. Throw in a Clam screen tent like the Traveler and you have an outdoor living room. Consider the Zero Breeze air conditioner if you need summer time comfort. The FWC is just way more versatile.

      Rob I am all over the place. I film off road vehicles, outdoor gear, guns, flashlights, packs, trade shows etc etc. I just film what catches my eye. I built 2 AR15 pistols over the weekend, got in a few more camping gear to review and I need to show you guys a cool drone I am testing. Time is my enemy. My day job is demanding since I'm an instructor.
