Vlog about what it’s like Trucking in a Single Axle Semi
2000 Freightliner FLD 112
2018 Kerr Built 53’ StepDeck
Hydraulic tilt deck
17.5K wireless winch
Airbags
16’x24’ steel tarp
24’x27’ lumber tarp
Hey man, just found your channel, that truck and m11 should be capable of close to 10mpg or more,I don’t know how it’s geared but keep rpm around 1200-1300,
Love your setup, had 3 freightliners before I got out of trucking, great trucks
Right now it’s geared at 4:11. So I’m getting between 7.5 to 9 depending on how I drive it.
@@DosGringosRanch I’d go 3.58 rear when time and money allows, should see a big difference, gear fast drive slow,I had a 2000 Freightliner classic with a c-15 and my yearly average was 6.8, I’m in Canada and that was running 80,000 lbs when I was in the US and up to 120000 gross up here
You got a sweet deal on that combo. I've been looking for a trailer similar to what you have and they're not out there(at least not in my neck of the woods) Be safe out there.
How do you estimate your total costs per mile:
Whats your mpg pulling 20k lbs?
Estimated maintenance reserve per mile? 15-20 cents?
Depreciation on equipment? 20 cents per mile?
Insurance per month?
Load boards, storage, admin and accounting etc?
I have a 1995 T600 for sale if you know anyone looking. Mid roof bunk with a sofa and top bunk. 11.1L Detroit 630K on the factory single axle. 4 fuel tanks holds 470 gallons of fuel. Steer tires have less then 4000 miles on them Toyo's. Put new Brake Chambers on the rear over the weekend. Got a date with the shop for new brake shoes and drums coming up. Along with Pinion seal. Has a 23K rearend with 2.93 gears direct 10 speed trans. Right now It has a hauler bed on it. We were pulling our camper with it. But due to health going back to a Ram 3500 with auto trans Also has Centramatic balancers on all 4 sides. All 6 wheels are Aluminum.
On the subject of gross vs net profit....its always amusing to see how few people are willing to talk about after expenses profit......as the old man told me when i was a kid, its not much point grossing a million a year if your expenses are a million and one.......
That why we always have a truck not used fee! Most brokers are right behind lawyers as the biggest liars
Another great video thanks for sharing
Good video man. I bought a single axle day cab and I'm trying to figure out at what weight to register the truck here in GA? IM LOST
I would register it for 72k. 12 front 20 rear and 40k for trailer. A lot of states allow 24k on single axle though.
Before watching : single axel is a lot better for tight spaces. If your doing some hilly stuff and big stops, take a tandem.
You are mostly right. As far as mountain driving goes the singles not bad at all because I’m hauling less weight I can go through vail and Loveland pass and hold 50mph in 9th with the jakes where you run into a issue is winter driving. That can be a mess so it’s best to stay out of the mountains once winter sets in.
Do you have to pay annual 2290 on the single axle?
Would it matter if I have a manual restriction if I were to have your hotshot setup because it's still an hotshot or would i have to still get it removed?
You would have to get it removed.
@@DosGringosRanch Can you get it removed with just with your license or would you have to get an permit just to get it removed?
I have a similar setup, can we have a conversation on setting up the filters for the load board etc

how to hook a gooseneck trailer to a semi truck ?
Basically. It was a multi-purpose built trailer for containers and freight.
Do you think you will stretch and go tandem in the future?
I’ve been contemplating it for awhile now.
Hey man you running your authority ?
Yes
What would be the weight you can scale with a semi trailer
Total apportioned gvwr would be 68k
@@DosGringosRanch man I appreciate it , I just bought a single axle for 3500 with a wet kit , just was wondering what kind of weight I could do, this helps tremendously
Your a class 7-8 ? Or class 6
If your going off of strictly truck gvwr this would be classified as class 7 if I add another axle it’ll be 8.
Sounds like dispatch stealing money from you
Whats the price to convert it into a tandem
I’ve talked to people that said they’ve had them done in between $3500 and $5000. But people I’ve been calling are wanting close to $15k just in labor not including the Cut-Off
